Gentle Sinners #2

Broken Captive

Rate this book
Alina has never truly lived.

As the daughter of the Pakhan, Alina is raised in a pampered cage for only one purpose. When her father is murdered, instead of the forced betrothal she grew up expecting, Alina falls into the hands of an enemy family. Tortured and broken, she finds a glimmer of hope in an unlikely rescuer.

Luka has only lived for vengeance.

After witnessing the massacre of his family, Luka becomes what he once hated. As a hitman for the Bratva, his hands are soaked with blood, but not the death he craves. During a contract, he stumbles across someone who reminds him of his past, and the flicker of life still within him refuses to leave her to her fate.

Luka hides Alina away while she struggles to accept what she’s become; someone willing to do anything to live, no matter the cost. But when the growing warmth between them flares into desire, Luka’s aversion to touch makes him realize all he has to offer her is ashes of who he once was.

Needing to free the one he loves, Luka returns to the only skills he has. They have a shared enemy, one Luka vowed to kill long ago. Only Alina’s own needs have changed. Instead of hiding, she’d rather burn the world down at Luka’s side.

With wounded but vengeful heroines and protective, morally gray heroes, the Gentle Sinners series contains interconnected standalones with steamy, open door scenes and no cliff hangers.

Amber Warden’s stories often include characters overcoming tragic pasts or current hardships and may include situations that not everyone would like to read. Content notes are included in the look inside to help you decide if this story is for you.

REVIEW
Luka and Alina have been through severe and heartbreaking trauma. I’m not sure what I was expecting when I started reading Broken Captive, but I certainly wasn’t expecting such a sweet story in the midst of some of the most horrific events I have ever read in a romance novel.

Although they are opposites in demeanor and personality, Alina and Luka’s shared experience as puppets to those more powerful than they are gives them an instant connection. Despite missteps from both of them, the love they have for each other is obvious. Whenever they do hurt each other, it is never out of malice and is always sympathetic.

The pacing flowed nicely. Alina and Luka’s relationship was handled with patience and understanding, and the overall plot with Ivonkov was perfectly entwined with the development of Alina and Luka’s bond. I do wish the end had been just a bit longer in order to give more time to settle in the resolution, but it was still a satisfying conclusion.

I started with the second book of the series, but I will definitely be going back to read the first and then continuing with the rest. From the very first to the very last page, I was hooked. I love it when a book catches me by (a good) surprise.

I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to read Broken Captive by Amber Warden! This is the second book in the Gentle Sinners series and tells Alina and Luka's story. It's a unique, suspenseful contemporary romance that kept me engaged throughout with its compelling story of survival, hope, and love.

This book opens with Alina, a young woman imprisoned in a compound where she is tortured and brutalized by her captor, whom Luka has been sent to assassinate. Luka has been trained from childhood to be ruthless and deadly, but he refuses to hurt women, so when he finds Alina brutalized, he rescues her. Alina has lost everything she has ever known and needs a protector. Luka is the last person anyone should look to for protection, but their shattered souls call to each other, and they find comfort in one another. However, it's not long before they find themselves in danger because there are people who will stop at nothing to make sure they don't survive together at all.

Alina and Luka are complex characters with heartbreaking backstories. I am so glad they found each other! I loved this story and its characters so much that I purposefully slowed my reading pace - I never wanted this story to end. It was also great to see Giovanni and Nera from the previous book in this series, Broken Protector . We are also introduced to Montrell, who will be featured in the next book, Broken Worth . I can't wait!

The only thing I felt was missing was an epilogue. I would have appreciated seeing the progression of Alina and Luka's relationship months or even years into the future.

I highly recommend Broken Captive to fans of dark mafia romance who enjoy slow-burning steam, morally gray cinnamon roll heroes, and a heroine who refuses to give up on the man she loves.

Alina and Luca are both broken. As time goes by they slowly let down the barriers and get to know each other. Each have their own demons to deal with - can they help heal each other? Will they learn to love? Can they recover from their brutal pasts to give each other their heart?

I thoroughly enjoyed Alina and Luca’s story. It can be very dark at times but beautiful at other moments. It is beautiful to see them both emerge from from the darkness and fly like a butterfly. Highly recommend this book 😊😊

Throughout this book, and a line or two in the previous one, allude to Luka having feelings, almost a fascination with Giovanni. It was weird, unnecessary, and never explained. The author had Luka way too focused on Giovanni in some instances, making Alina come off almost as if she was second best.

"You're right not to trust me. If I let you go, just a little, I'll grab you even though I know it hurts."

"I can't be mad at you. Never. I miss you. I've never missed anyone before"

Alina being captured wasn't even the worst that had happened to her. She stayed strong throughout the whole book. She grew into a incredibly strong character. Finding a new direction in her hard life after Luka has saved her. Luka tries to figure out these feelings he has for Alina but with how his mind works he doesn't really know.

Ugh! Let's just say this sweet broken man called Luka is one of my favorite men. He is such a cinnamon roll. He was so soft and gentle and really tried to figure out how he was feeling. He had to overcome so many battles with not only himself but the evil around them. Then we have Alina who never gave up and stayed strong for not only herself but for Luka as well. The plot was amazing and I loved how sweet the ending was. The spice level was 1/5. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the first because it's just as good.

Alina was captured and forced to face harrowing circumstances, but we see her become more comfortable and sure of herself after her rescue. She is no damsel in distress though as she has a hidden fierceness to her that comes out when necessary. She also is proactive in trying to find a new direction and going after what she wants. She can also be sassy and we see when she is most comfortable she feels open to rambling.

We met Luka in Broken Protector as the silent assassin with a curiosity for Giovanni, the Cosa Nostra leader. They have a unconventional friendship and implicit trust in each other despite being on opposite sides. Luka though has an aversion to touch and a living monster he has been trying to break free from. He might also be sneaky and quick and while he can be ruthless, we see deep down he is gentle and tender.

These two!! They are cinnamon rolls on cinnamon rolls. Luka is inexplicably drawn to Alina the moment he sees her, and finds himself leading her escape. Alina herself has been beaten down at that point but grabs hold of the hand that is softly offered. From there, the two of them learn and see different sides to one another. Luka might not speak many words to Alina or generally, but she also is observant and learns his tells and how to interpret his body language. She tries to respect his boundaries and sometimes pushes him out of his comfort zone, for which she profusely will feel apologetic, but he also is willing to overcome his pains if it means being closer to Alina and seeing her light up. She becomes his reason to live when all he feels Day to day is a sense of denial and inevitable morbidity as he seeks revenge against his monster. Luka also becomes a sense of home to Alina as he watches out for her and will do just about anything for her. Alina herself shows she is capable of looking out for Luka as well. The two of them might have a slow burn relationship but from that first moment we can see they have a connection and one that continues to deep. Their interactions and story takes you through a heartfelt journey for sure, and it makes me squirm with happiness whenever they are together. I feel like I can describe how much you’ve come to care for this couple.

We also see the return of familiar faces but while they help some events push forward, our main couple definitely takes the spotlight. While this can be read as a stand alone, I do think it would be helpful to read the prior story to understand who those characters are though. Moreover, we have a villain who you are glad gets his just desserts, though I do wish we got a little more background on his relationship to Luka and why he tormented him so much. Along with that, the story was definitely suspenseful with surprising turns and edge of your seat anticipation. I also thought the writing flowed well and created an atmosphere of calm desire some of the scenes in the book.

Overall, this was a highly engaging read, and one I’ll definitely be thinking about making after the story has ended. I cannot wait to see what else is in store.

Good book, but Broken Support is still the G.O.A.T.😏

Luka made his first appearance in Broken Protector , in which I was really drawn to the mystery around his character. Based on book #1, I had hoped that he would give me Enzo vibes (my book husband!) - but instead I got another Giovanni: a broken, damaged boy in a big man's world.

My scoring for the series:
1️⃣ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Broken Support (book #5) he kneels for her!
2️⃣ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Broken Captive (book #2)
3️⃣ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Broken Protector (book #1)

yet to read:
Broken Worth (book #3)
Broken Resolve (book #4)

My favorite quotes:
He was so strange. Not saying anything; not looking. Not trying to get closer. He was just there.

When he settled beside her, comfortable naked, and his finger wrapped around her wrist in his own unique way of hugging, she felt more content than she ever could have imagined.

What it is about:
Tortured heroine finds hope in vengeful hitman, igniting forbidden desire amidst shared enemies and burning need for retribution.

What I loved:
❤️‍🩹how he wanted - but could not - touch her, compomising by holding her wrist in his sleep #swoon 🫠
☠️how he always planned on dying, taking his tormentor with him, but
🔇he is a man of few words

What I struggled with:
her background story was a bit all over the place; little info was given of her life with her father and I am still not 100% sure how she got to living with an abusive woman, who was then murdered and she was living alone in a little cabin,...? or did those murderers capture her?

What you need to know:

Part of the Gentle Sinners each book can be read as a standalone with a broken soul and a little to try and piece them back together so hang on and double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love (ALL THINGS TO EXPECT FROM THE MAFIA WORLD). By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter! CAN’T SAY YOU WEREN’T WARNED!! Luka sexy as all get out hitman for the one of the scariest Russian mobsters so living in a wrong or right wasn’t in his nature there is no white, black, gray only jobs, but he has his own issues he can’t be touched in fact physical touch cause him pain and he has rules he doesn’t hurt women no matter who or what he is hired to take out. Alina is so strong no matter what they did she didn’t allow it to break her she was taken imprisoned, tortured, brutalized daily all because of who her parents were some days it was hard for her to hang on but each day she made it to the end of the day knowing she will get through and when the beautiful man came in to take out her tormentor saving her along the way giving her a little peace. These two shouldn’t be anywhere near one another considering he is a hitman, and she is a victim but, yet something within each of them wants and needs to be with the other no matter how much they fight the attraction is there. Now, there are enemies out there who want her dead just because of who she is and of course he is the best so they need to take him out and staying alive means working together but the more they are together the closer they grow but is it enough, can they heal one another enough to be with one another, will she learn to accept the women she is forgiving what happened to her, will he keep her safe, can their oddness work for them instead of against them, and is there some form of happiness for these two?

This book was a slow burn for obvious reasons. Kind of hard to have a relationship when you don't like to touch or be touched. But I appreciated being able to see the struggle and journey to try to overcome the obstacles the couple faced. And although it wasn't eradicated, there were obvious strides. I was a bit surprised and disappointed how luka didn't seem to try too hard to take out the man who was the cause of his trauma. His attempts seemed half hearted like he really couldn't bring himself to do it like he would his other enemies. I recognized they were more evenly matched but I think he let his trauma and low self esteem psych him out. I like seeing the weird but interesting relationship between Luka and Gabriel. Antonio was a jerk… again. I would have liked to see more of a relationship form between Gabriel and Alina since they are actual family and Gabriel is the closest to a friend/brother that Luka has. Idk if it's her trauma or just lack of interest but I didn't feel like she even tried to have a relationship/friendship with anyone else besides Luka and the people she got close to at the diner. I understood but I still wanted her to make more of a effort like she did with Luka. Especially since they're some of the only family she has left. I was also a bit disappointed there was no baby I wanted to see how they adapted and changed the dynamic. Overall I liked the read. It frustrated me at times but I enjoyed having a different aspect with the main characters and seeing their growth. I'm looking forward to Antonio's story, seeing the kind of woman that will tame him and go toe to toe with him, I'm also hoping for a book for Enzo where he finds someone and gets his HEA. Gut-wrenching story!
First let me say that I have not read a ton of dark mafia romance, but enough that I can admit this one has some moments of hard-core violence that made me feel uncomfortable. Pay attention to those trigger warnings folks! Nevertheless, I found this story enjoyable and well written.
I thought Nera and Giovanni's story (Broken Protector) took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride; this book is so heartbreaking and disturbing that at times I was just a puddle on my floor.
Both Luka and Alina have been brutalized most of their lives.
Luka’s character gives off vibes of behavior associated with autism spectrum: very few or no words spoken, avoids eye contact, physical pain when touched, few to no big smiles or other facial expressions, virtually no interactive conversations. He has become a proficient killer and is a Bratva assassin who follows a personal rule never to harm women or children. It’s when he is sent to assassinate all who are within a particular house that Luka meets Alina and lets her live.
Alina is fierce, smart, talented and is totally committed to Luka. She falls for him early on and would love nothing more than to kiss and hold Luka endlessly. The sexual tension between them is very intense. I could not help but root for them to find their happiness.
I love how the characters from Broken Protector (the previous book) are interwoven into this story; despite their darker qualities, they are very easy to enjoy. And there was a revelation in this story! 🤯💥
I received a free review copy of this book, and I am sharing my honest opinion voluntarily.
Moving on to Beatrice and Montrell’s story now…Having had a glimpse into Montrell’s character, I have a feeling this next one is going to be fun!

This story is dark and heavy, and while I don't personally have triggers which keep me from enjoying pretty much most dark romance, or things that really push the envelope in fiction, please be wary of the author's warning in this story, because she doesn't sugar coat anything. The main characters are indeed broken, damaged, and compelling people who have a LOT of healing to do. For a good portion of the book it's a bit overwhelming. It's almost like a scary game of "who had it worse." But it is amazingly well-done. The trauma and drama and shocking things that happen aren't gratuitous or unnecessary. It's just that they are violent and horrible, but that's the world these characters inhabit and the author has written a particular dynamic which is both hopeful and feels sometimes quite hopeless; her characters are raw and despite every obstacle they've faced, in their pasts, and together, they manage to make a genuine connection and find ways to heal some of the broken parts. I wish there had been more to show us how they're doing later, after all the emotions have settled, but I wonder if we'll see them in a future installment of the series, because while it's a lovely ending, I want to see them both settled and doing well. I loved this story, and will definitely be going back for the first book as soon as I can.

I really enjoyed this book! Broken Captive is a beautiful love story about two broken souls, Luka and Alina, coming together after a lot of physical and emotional trauma. Luka became an assassin for the pakhan who was responsible for the death of his family. He dreamed of killing the pakhan and becoming a free man. He met Alina when he was sent to kill the men that were holding her captive. Alina was the daughter of a pakhan, and she was taken captive by the men that murdered her family. She was tortured while being held captive, and although Luka was sent there to kill her too, he rescued Alina instead. Their relationship was not like others, because Luka was touch averse, and could not have anyone touch him without feeling intense pain.

Some parts of the book were hard to read because they were so blatantly violent, but that is the reality of life in the mafia. There were a lot of emotional moments, as this book describes Luka and Alina’s emotional journey. It was wonderful to read about how they helped each other. As a result of their shared anguish, they became protective of each other. They fought for each other. They were deeply devoted to each other. The steamy scenes in this book were not like any other I have read. You will be surprised by the uniqueness of them. I highly recommend this well-written, complicated character, mafia world, suspense/thriller, romance story.

“Can I touch you? All over?”

Alina wanted him to touch her more than he could possibly know. A low moan slipped from between her lips.

“Please, Luka. Touch me as much as you want.”

Imagine yearning touch and to be touched by that one person that makes your heart beat faster but not being able to fulfill that yearning?

Wowza, what a beautiful story and the slow burn, my gosh. I was rooting for them the whole time. I could not put the book down. I read some of the low reviews and let me tell you. I truly believe he's on the autism spectrum.

1. The lack of eye contact.

2. The not wanting to be perceived.

3. The obsession of that one friend.

4. The pain of physical touch.

5. The social pragmatic communication disorder.

6. The lack of being able to read and correctly interpret body language with ease.

7. The childhood history of his mom knowing not to touch him and his sisters seeing him as different and disconnected.

8. The rigid need to follow the rule his father instilled in him.

So for me it was so intriguing and exciting to see their journey. The way the H and h found comfort in each other and how their love blossomed was swoonworthy. He helps her through her trauma and she gives him a reason to live.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Life was not always easy…

In fact, for Alina and Luka it has (so far) been mostly horrific. The brutality and loss they both had suffered – continue to suffer - was hard for me to read at times. This was a story drenched in pain and it hardly let up. They were lost – isolated – and the slow build of their relationship was surrounded by awkward, heart-wrenching uncertainty. The hits kept coming until it felt like neither was going to survive let alone find a shred of happiness. Somehow, in the depths of all the misery and loss, the author threw a lifeline and slowly built on it until there was hope…

I found this super hard to read due to content matter (read any and all warnings – they are true!). Yet Alina and Luka (and all the Di Salvos) kept me hanging on, hoping for some happiness – something good – to come their way. And eventually they found it…

The story was well worth the read and, despite my unease with the darker elements in this series, I know I will be up for more…

*I happily reviewed this story

“Alina had wormed her way inside, trying to give him an impossible new hope.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Amber can’t write a book that isn’t amazing. I really don’t know how she keeps coming up with these incredible characters but she does. Luka and Alina both broke my heart over and over again. I can’t tell you how often I cried. I don’t know how either of them managed to survive everything they were forced to suffer but somehow they did. And despite everything they didn’t just survive, they rose up stronger.

Never have I seen two people more perfect for each other. Their connection so much more than physical. I’m so proud of how they triumphed and look forward to seeing them in future books in the series.

I deliberately haven’t discussed the plot. I’m not spoiling anything. And while it’s possible to read as a standalone you really should read Broken Protector first. You need the background of what’s going on as well as Luka’s relationship with Giovanni. I can’t wait for the next book and then the next. This is going to be Amber’s best series ever!

This is the second story in the "Gentle Sinners" series. It is a stand alone read that tells Alina and Luka's story. It is a story of tragedy, survival, healing, hope, love and more. Alina has suffered rape and more at the hands of her tormenter, which is where the story begins. Luka is sent on a job to kill and send a message. He comes up on the trembling body of a women, Alina, who reminds him of his sister. Alina is scared to leave but Luka guides her out into more threats but she is set free. Luka, the assassin, is drawn to her. This is such a good read, a bit dark, but strong characters. Luka and Alina are pulled to each other in this slow burn story. It is a dark and suspenseful story with betrayal, secrets, death, murder, danger, violence, hope, healing and forgiveness. This is a new author for me and I like her writing style and story build. This was a really good story that captivating from beginning to end.

This book was a little different for me. First, I already liked Luca from the Broken Protector but Luca and Alina's story starts out so sad. How anyone could endure what they did and want to live, Alina being too scared to move even after being told she could leave.... How they find a way to move forward with each other with all their own issues that seemed to block every step. There is also the dynamic of how Luca seemed to be connected to his tormentor, like there was no way out of it and even though he wanted to kill him, there was always the sense that he would end up dead in the end. I also really liked seeing more of Giovanni and Luca's friendship.

The author really shows complicated relationships that I think are so interesting, people are not just stereotypical, they are complicated and the have inner struggles as they deal with each other. I am looking forward to continuing this series.

Wow, I was absolutely astounded reading this book it was awesome, I was transfixed reading the story and the characters were really sensational. This story was about Alina and Luca, Alina fell in the hands of the enemy and treated badly. Luca after he lost loved ones he wants revenge, he started working as a hitman for the Bratva. Luca had the problem that he doesn't like anyone touching him except Alina wants more, he will protect her and be gentle wiping her hair from her face. Alina and Luca the chemistry was growing hotter between them. There was so much action, drama, suspense, danger, torture, killings, enemies, trauma, anger, kidnapping, betrayal, secrets, lies, twist and turns, frustration, determination, struggles, intense, pleasure, passion, lust and love.

This book was just so confusing for me. Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention but it has to probably do with the fact it is written in third person’s POV. I don’t know what and how stuff happened but I just know it did. I don’t know, I just didn’t click with this book. This one felt like a big unexplained mess.

First of all I had never before in my life heard of people hurting from the smallest touch (when they were perfectly fine). I had to google it and find out wtf it is because surprise surprise it has no explanation in the book as to why Luka was like that.

Alina was just so I don’t know. Honestly this whole book was a big I don’t know. I really hope that Vespa and Antonios book is more like the other two and not this one.

I'm not completely sure how I feel about this book. I read book and 1 and enjoyed it, this one i read until the end and did enjoy most aspects of it but I feel like the level of detail wasn't quite there in order for it be more than a 3* read.

I loved how strong Alina was but for a character who was a victim of SA the way she kept crossing Luka's boundaries didn't sit well with me. I think we didn't learn enough about Lukas time with Ivankov or about his sister Willow but that being said 2 broken souls finding each other in their world of darkness was still beautiful to read.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The way Luka viewed Giovanni was also not fully explained and was a little odd at times but also strangely sweet.

I will be giving the next book a read as I like other characters in the books.

Both the MC’s, Alina and Luka, have been abused and mistreated their whole life. Despite what they’ve become, they are both cinnamon rolls. Soft when wanted, tough when needed.
The way this book deals with certain trauma’s is amazing.
I like that the characters development is a real representation of the changes they go through. Often it’s written as completely different person, but Luka and Alina still hold some characteristics like the beginning of the story, but some aspects changed.
I like the maffia-vibe and such more than the plot itself, which was kinda predictable. It’s a pity that the book doesn’t go into deep details about the environment or world-building, otherwise it would have been 4⭐️ But still, I had a good time reading this!

What happens when a sheltered Mafia daughter who is taken captive after her father's death, tortured and beaten comes into the path of a vengeful "hitman" who believes his heart is frozen and he is nothing but darkness and emptiness? Well, you get this amazing story filled with spice, action, revenge, and strength.

Throughout the pages of this story, you read how Luka is there for Alina, sheltering her, protecting her, and coming to care for her beyond what he ever felt he was capable of after his tragic past. You get to see Alina heal and grow as a person, finding her own independence and strength. Then, you watch these two fall in love as they fight the demons to hold onto what they have found.

I loved this story and can't wait to read more from this author.

It's hard to read a story about such broken yet brave characters in that you start to see beauty in the horrors of what life does to some people, and yes, this is a work of fiction, but the events can and do happen to so many people. That said - bravo for Broken Captive - the Gentle Sinners series has gone from strength to strength with this addition.

I read this over the weekend and while I was intimidated to start it right on the heels of another dark romance, it soon consumed me. Alina is a slow-burn likeable heroine - I found her so broken that it took awhile for her character to warm up in my mind, and Luka - he's just a baadass Bratva morally grey enigma. Really liked this one!

There’s slow burn and then there’s “is this ever going to catch fire”. I enjoyed reading this but sometimes it felt like it took forever to get anywhere. I understand the reasoning with the various traumas with Alina and Luke but it seemed Alina got over hers a lot faster. The happy ending seemed a little sudden given everything else that had happened but it was still good. Although this can be read as standalone from the other novels in the series, it’s best to read them in order rather than backwards like I’ve been doing. This made it difficult for me to understand the whole Mafia aspect. Once I start the first book, I’ll probably understand it better. All in all, a good read. 10/5 stars

I wish I could give this book more stars then just 5.

This story about Luka & Alina is unlike anything I've ever read before.
The concept of touch is so common for us that we don't even consider what its like for someone who can't stand the feeling of touch.

The way Amber has written this book would've taken alot of research to be able to get right. We get to understand the challenges of Luka's life but also get to experience the joys when we finally finds someone who's touch doesn't cause pain; in Alina.

I'm not going to give anything away but we find another strong MFC in this book that is willing to kill for their complicated love.

Broken Captive is book 2 in the Gentle Sinners series and is a dark read so make sure to check the trigger warnings if this is an issue for you. This one is Luka and Alina's great, fast paced story. Alina being the daughter of the Pakhan and a strong, determined, possessive man is just what she needs and gets with Luka. They balance each other perfectly and the chemistry between them is over the top HOT. Broken Captive can absolutely be read as a standalone but you're really missing out on a great read if you miss book 1. Another great story from this author.

Alina was raised for one thing, an arranged marriage. When her father is killed she is taken by a rival family and is abused, tortuered everyday until she doesnt know if she ccan go on. Luka is a hitman for the Bratva. He comes across Alina and even though he doesnt do women and touch he rescues her and hides her. They grow closer and he want to kill their comman enemy so he can release her. Read this all nighter cant put down page turner to see how they heal one another.

Loved this book. It was written so beautifully. Not at all what you would expect from a “Mafia” book. Luka and Alina are both broken and yet they manage to find their way to each other to become a small family within a larger one. With all that they went through individually you would expect neither to be able to bond with anyone else. They are so soft and gentle with each other and they just become whatever the other needs. Like I said beautifully written love story.
