Hiking through the woods Ethel notices that some kind of aircraft had crashed nearby. As she approaches, she notices someone moving and crawling out of the wreckage. She goes to help. Ten years later she is compelled to approach Hunter for help. Together they embark in an adventure that would change their lives, trying to help Jor the alien, who needs to have some special tasks performed to maintain his identity hidden from the public.
Along the way, Ethel and Hunter develop a lifelong special relationship that they will need to be able to handle the last gift that Jor bestows on them.
