A visual history of the twentieth century incorporates text and thousands of illustrations and photographs that document the people, places, and events of the past one hundred years.
This book is huge! I'm currently reading it for school, and it's almost three inches thick. It's not really a book I would read just for fun (although it's interesting to skim) but it's a lot better than most history books. It's arranged year by year, month by month, and is written to look like a collection of newspaper clippings. It includes old photos, advertisements, etc. and can be very fascinating. My main reason for not being terribly fond of it is the fact that I have to read five pages of it every day! I have to say, however, that I have learned a lot of interesting facts and gained a better feel for time periods. If you're interested in history, you would probably enjoy this book.
A very interesting read. However, some of the bias of the media is evident, even in this. Some events of great importance were ignored or hardly noticed. A huge amount of information packed into these 1,500+ pages.
Daniel loves this book! He likes how much information there is. Harry finds how prices have changed fascinating. Daniel found the statistics about war especially out of the ordinary.
