My Thoughts:
Wow. This story was romantic, thrilling, and intriguing. I was sitting on the edge of my seat until the very end. The story was unique and the characters were multidimensional and complex without being complicated. I love how the author created her own unique world of shifters and shifter dynamics. This wasn't a copy and past of other paranormal stories but a unique rendering of a romantic and paranormal tale with a heavy dose of intrigue thrown in to keep things interesting.

I loved all of the characters and my heart broke for David. Poor David. He just got shafted all the way around in the situation but Angelique and Gao were gracious and considerate to him in spite of the nefarious plans sought tear them all apart.

This story was brilliantly done and I look forward to reading more about what happens with David's brother. ...Poor David! LOL. Serious PNR lovers will enjoy this story.

Amazing introduction for new author Nulli Para Ora. Dragon Moon is everything a lover of romance could want in a unique PNR novel! A MUST read.

My Thoughts:

Wow, talk about something different in PNR I absolutely loved this novel. Nulli Para Ora breaths a breath of fresh air into romantic paranormal suspense. Although interracial couple are not unheard of in PNR it is highly unusual to have Asian/Black/White all in the same book as a love triangle. For me this was my first experience with a Chinese male protagonist and I hope that it is not my last Gao was unbelievably romantic, sensitive and all alpha. David was more aggressive even before the change and still a wonderful alpha. Angelique was everything you could want in a heroine, smart, focused, sensitive and kick-ass. The story NPO weaves was enough to keep me up until 5:30am this morning reading because I had to find out what happened. It kept me on the edge of my seat, it was fast paced, and deftly wound around the supporting characters to make them as integral to the story as the main characters. These fully dimensional characters makes them easy to identify with and empathize. This complex story of course introduced a plot twist right at the end. Not a cliff hanger but an "uh oh now what" moment. Overall this is an exciting start to a new series and I for one can't wait for book 2. Ora is a new name in romantic paranormal and I know this novel will springboard her onto everyone's favorite shelf. I know she is on mine!

4.5 solid gold stars for Dragon Moon and a new fangirl in me. Do yourself a favor read this book now and treat yourself to a taste of Gao/David and Angelique.

I received a copy of this book for review.

I confess that I found this book to be engaging, romantic, and full of surprises. The characters are well-written and the story is full of intricate plot twists. In fact, looking back, I'm amazed at how much was packed into this first book. It makes me very curious about what the author has planned for future books in the series.

The characters are very likable (at least the good guys are) and very well-developed. The story centers around American businesswoman Angelique, the coworker that she's been pining over for 3 years, David, and the CEO of the business she's in China to impress, Gao. A very unique love triangle develops full of love, sorrow, rage, and anguish. At times it was hard to know who I wanted to cheer for, but for me Gao pulled miles ahead. I loved him. Along with romance, the story is also full of mystery, action, intrigue and a great paranormal world.

One aspect of the book I really enjoyed was getting inside each of the character's heads in turn. It can sometimes be very disorienting and frustrating switching perspectives, but this was very well done. I found it helped me really understand the drive behind each character.

I'm looking forward to seeing where the author can take her characters. I especially would love to see David find a "true mate". I would love to see nature win out over science. Plus that would make Gao feel better, and he's my boy. Gotta cheer for him to keep the happy. :)

Would I reread this book? Yes.
Would I recommend this book to a friend? Absolutely.

Ms. Para Ora has done an incredible job of creating a seductive shifter world with her book Dragon Moon. I am so happy I picked it up. It grieved me to have to put it down at times. The action was realistically described and intense. The characters were sympathetic and relatable. The love story, or stories, tugged at my heart strings and made me long for a sequel. The hero Gao is sexy, intelligent and fiercely possessive. The heroine Angelique is smart, sassy and loyal. The secondary hero David made me swoon and want to make him feel better. I thought it was brought to a good resolution and a happy ending that was plausible. And it was all done within a narrative that was humorous and sexy. I will be followling this author's career closely and can't wait for her next book.

Fascinating, spellbinding, riveting, all words that fail to properly describe the absolute gem of a story Dragon Moon is. If you can put this book down you certainly are not reading the same book I did. This story took me from high to low and back, plucking my heart strings like a well trained Harpist. While it is very tempting to reveal spoilers, the book was so good I will leave those for you to discover after you've finished the book. Believe me, if you think you can figure this plot out, stop it and just read. You will thank yourself later as the many twists and turns completely adsorb you until you loose all sense of time, by then you'll be begging for a sequel.

This is such a great shifter story! I fell in love with the characters, and was completely emotionally invested in their stories. Angelique is amazing in her ability to be strong, while at the same time being completely vulnerable. Her love for David was so touching I didn't think I'd be happy with other events, but this author had a way of making everything turn out exactly as it should. Gao is an amazing man to be there for Angelique and be so understanding. Great, great read! I want the next book yesterday! Love it!

I will definitely be recommending this to friends!

A Hearts On Fire Review

THREE & A HALF STARS--This was an interesting paranormal read from Nulli Para Ora. We have interracial paranormal love triangle! When in the world do you read about that? A Chinese male lead! Loved it. Angelique has a crush on co-worker/friend David and they go together on a business trip to China. And they almost start something, both admit to being in love with one another...then during their business meeting, they meet Gao. Alpha werewolf of the Yuen clan and...Angelique's mate. But wait, there's more! Later that night, a rogue werewolf will change these three lives forever. Drama for your mama!

Gao was an awesome hero, he possessed a lot of the qualities that I look for in a hero - an alpha when he needed to be, understanding to his lady and patient. Plus his bedroom skills were yummy! ;P He truly loved Angelique and appreciated the author not making this a 'you're my mate, you're mine, now open your legs instantly' kind of love story. This is a love triangle story technically but it's really loose because there's no back forth with Angelique and both men throughout the story. It's Angelique and David, then Angelique and Gao. When David is reintroduced, it's a weird love fest but there NO CHEATING involved.

Here's my issues with not rating it a five star read:

-The heroine came across too perfect in the beginning. Though her reasons of why she is so great eased up towards the middle, it didn't endear her to me as a heroine. So I was not invested as I was with Gao or even David (and I'm not his biggest fan)

-Also, the fortune cookie proverbs everyone seemed to bust out of nowhere. The first two times weren't so bad but when other characters was joining in with odd metaphors, it made me roll my eyes a few times. When Angelique, her father, Gao's father, Cheng and others kept giving this weird philosophical quotes: Not every snowflake falls silently. The sesame seed is never split twice. Wet Cornflakes can be soggy but the milk is dry. Those might not be from the story but it felt like it could be good stand-ins.

-Another issue, the mythology of werewolves, it was touched upon but fully delved in. Like are werewolves immortal in this series or really long-living? Yuen family is stated to have lived hundreds of years already and Gao has been an Alpha for two hundred years.

- The transitioning from scene to scene was not as smooth. Also the author might have characters figure out something but the characters would know, the reader not so much. I had to re-read some passages to try to understand what was happening. Not a lot but more than once.

-This limbo David and Angelique seems to be in. Sometimes it felt as if the author was going to have her forget about Gao and run into David's arms which kind of blew the werewolf/mate bond out of the water. (I'm not to keen of this pairing and hope it does not come to fruition in future books)

There's action, a love story, drama and memorable secondary characters (Jin! He's cute). the story actually felt like reading two books in one, so I felt I got a good deal. I will continue on with this series because I'm curious of the ideas this author has for these three (hopefully a mate for David that's not already taken) and maybe a mate for Jin too? Just wondering. Pretty good story. It was enjoyable.

Dragon moon by Nulli para Ora

This book should come with a WARNING label. Tissues required.
I have to say this has been one of the most emotional stories I have read in a long time. I cried my eyes out over half the book. I had to stop a couple times cause I couldn't read the pages, they were so blurry.
But I have to say that I absolutely love this love story. I fell in love with the Angelique, David, and Gao so much that you really connect to the characters and you get caught up in thier emotions and thier feelings with the situations they face. The respect and love that grows between Angelique and GAO was nice to see, Also to see how they face their loses and unit together and over come all the obstacles they had to face. And David, to read his struggles and his pain how could you not feel for him.
This was a fabulous book, I feell that anytime a book grabs your emotion, whether it's with laughter, anger or tears it is a 5+ book. Worth buying and reading over and over again. This definitely a keeper.
I received this book for honest review from the author.

My Thoughts:
This book is very well written and feels like a solid book without faults in the plot. It was a bit slow in the beginning but build up nicely as you continued in the story. It has a very good plot and a very interesting new Shifter/Were world with a totally new take on things. It is also totally original and exotic with the Asian/Black/White main characters. This is the first time I have read a book with an Asian main character and it really worked. The exotic feeling also came because some of the action took place in China. That was very interesting and I felt that I learned new things about the culture, I really liked that.

The main characters are very well written and with depth. You felt like you got to know them.

Angelique is a very smart business woman, with her head in the right place and a nice curiosity of the world. She is a bit on the soft side at times but can be a tough nail as well.

David is a great character with a darker very interesting story with lots of layers. I love this character and he made the book for me, I love reading his story and would want to read much, much more about him. He is just one interesting male hottie with baggage.

Gao is a smart CEO, stunningly handsome that does everything right and is just perfect in all ways. And there is the rub for me; he is just too darn sweet. I like characters with a bit more faults and layers. I don’t know one real person that is sweet and nice 24 hours a day every day. I guess he is the dream man that everybody wants but doesn’t really exist.

Over all very good books, well written with a new take on the shifter/Were world. This author is creative and knows how to think new original thoughts and put that on paper. The plot in the book was also very good with sneaky twist and turns. If Nulli Para Ora continues like this in here writing I think she will be a big name in the PNR world quite soon.

This book is very romantic and if you like sweet romantic books; this would be the perfect book for you. I like it a little darker so it was in places a bit too sweet and lovey-dovey for me so it will therefore not get a full pot from me. It felt like a true romance novel with lots and lots of romance.
Over all a very entertaining read I rate it 3,5 stars.

Nulli Para Ora has created a wonderful story in Dragon Moon. It clipped along at a good pace and kept me intrigued from start to finish. The author bought her characters to life. The pack alpha Gao, was likeable and dead sexy as was the secondary male character David. I liked that Angelique had substance and was portrayed as smart and loyal. Dragon Moon was a page-turner, I loved all the twists and turns that kept me riveted to the story and I will certainly look for this author again.

My Thoughts

It took me a little while to get into this book, but once I did I couldn't put it down. I think that Nulli did a great job of letting you get into the characters heads. To really understand the LOVE they felt for one another. I felt for Angelique. She was a strong and independant woman who worked her ass off for what she wanted. Only it might have been too late. There were a lot of hard situations to face and she handled them all with class and grace. I really enjoyed her character. I am interested to see where the next book will take her and her family.

I found this story to be detailed, poignant, heart-rending, tearful, and full on riveting. The author steps up to the plate when delivering every nuance in a relationship that is torn in several ways, her descriptions of characters and places make you feel "in the story" and you feel the emotions coursing through your body as each person goes through theirs.

This swift moving story will compel you to come back to it within minutes of setting it down, even if you've just left for a cup of tea. I refused a movie night out just so I could continue reading! I found the heroine addictive, and very much in charge of her nature. The changing from human to were in the story was flawless and beautiful. What the author expounded on was the love between all the characters, the caring nature of humans and were's included. The pack dynamic was profound to me and made me want to search for my own.

Tragedy strikes and you feel the fear of all characters that you have already fallen in love with, cried with, and laughed with. Enjoy this story for what it is there for... and want more.

I received this copy in exchange for an honest review.

This seemingly innocuous contemporary interracial romance hides a side of shifter life seldom explored and is further paired with a mystery. Angelique Meadows finds herself in the enviable position of being desired in both her professional and personal life by the men she finds most intriguing. With David there is the business colleague she’s secretly lusted after for months and with Gao she is an exotic beauty that he is convinced she is the mate he’s desired for centuries.

I especially liked the originality of the story but confess that seeing the same information from different points of view made some passages feel redundant and for this reader hurt the flow. Also I thought the relationship of Angelique and David went from nothing to something too quickly.

Accessible multi-dimensional characters, a tortuous love triangle, and intriguing mysterious elements woven throughout make this an interesting read. That this author is adept at plucking the heartstrings is evident in the triangle when you don’t exactly know who to cheer for.

**There are spoilers in this reveiw**

This book was given to me by the author for a fair review.

This book is about Gao, David, and Anglique. Anglique and David go to China on a business trip. Once there they met Gao, are attacked by a rogue werewolf, and Gao finds out Anglique is his mate. The story focus on all three characters relationship with each other. They also find out about a agency that is creating rogue werewolves and release them to scare humans into funding their research.

This book is a different view on the werewolve culture and a very enjoyable read. It is a love triangle, and personally I do not normal care for books with love triangles. That being said, the author did a very good job of making the triangle work without running it into the ground. This would, however, be the least favorite part of the book for me. If you like love triangles, you will truly enjoy this read. The rest of the book was enjoyable and a fun read. I would definately read the second book in the series.

First of all I want to address my three star rating - this is not my thing. I read out of my comfort zone often but I'm a contemporary romance girl through and through. I don't have a lot of experience with paranormal romances but weres are just not my thing and I can't say why they aren't I just don't connect with them on the same level I do with a contemporary romance. That being said three stars is a big deal for me to give this kind of book.
Nulli is masterful at building these relationships and creating conflict. I truly enjoyed this read. I felt conflicted and torn until the very end. It was well written, well crafted and I genuinely liked these characters.
It was a really good, meaty read. It was full of love, action, romance, plot with twists and turns, and a strong heroine. I liked this book and if paranormal is your thing than this is a definite must-read, and even if it's not necessarily your thing, it is not by any means a waste of time. This is a good book, good story, written by a really great author!

Angelique Meadows and David Johnson are preparing for their meeting with Yuen Gao in China. Both of them have not shared their feelings with each other yet feel the same way. They both take the opportunity to admit their feelings but fate has other ideas for this newly formed couple. During the meeting with the Yuen Family, Gao is stunned to find his mate in Angelique and unable to speak during the meeting. Jin and Cheng arrange for a tour and dinner at a family restuarant. So Gao can explain himself to Angelique and David. The Yuen Family are werewolves that have been hiding in plain sight. Both Jin and Cheng are happy for Gao as their Alpha finding his mate after years of searching. Yet none of them are prepared for rogues to attacking them. They are not prepared for the tragedy of David dying. Angelique is heartbroken over David's death yet Gao supports her thru the whole grieving process. Angelique slowly falls in love with Gao and they eventually marry. Neither of them are aware that David is alive having survived the rogue attack with a little help from Cheng. Someone is creating these rogues yet no one knows who. David escapes to another Alpha's territory to merge with his wolf over the next year. David wants revenge no matter the cost. Can these rogues be stopped? How will Gao and Angelique handle the truth? Will David get his revenge? Who is behind these rogues? Who will betray pack? Your answers await you in Dragon Moon.

I just love werewolf stories! This author has created an awesome universe rich with culture and heritage that is truly unique and interesting. I love the strength each of these characters have and how it all relates to the story. This story is cleverly woven like a puzzle where each piece is part of some whole not yet seen. I was engaged from beginning to end of the story. I'm certainly impressed by how the information was given to the reader. I will definitely look forward to the next installment of this series.

Dragon Moon wasn’t your ordinary shifter novel. It was full of romance and suspense. If you’re looking for a PNR with more “R” then this is the book for you. Ms. Ora did a fantastic job at creating characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. The relationships that were forged in this book made for an excellent story and the suspense was an added bonus. The world that was created was wonderful and something that I have never seen before. It made me feel like I was there throughout the entire story. I enjoyed where Ms. Ora took this book the suspense was just what I needed without it being too much. This was a story unlike any other that I read and it made me think, “Where is all the “R” in my PNR?”Needless to say I will be reading the second in this series. If you take away the supernatural elements in this story you will still have a great series and this is how you know when you stumbled across something great.

Now that I have finished Dragon Moon I'm a little surprised by the other great reviews of this book to be honest, so I wanted to justify my 2 stars.

I came close to DNFing this book. I think the premise was solid and plot OK, but the execution wasn't quite there. I noticed too many cliches (annoying!) and it was written in third person mostly but at times would suddenly drop into the author's POV for a sentence or two which I found weird and distracting. But my biggest issue was that the reader was told far too much about how the characters were feeling and not shown. This meant that I didn't buy into their emotional connections with each other. David and Angelique started out OK, and even Angelique and Gao, but when David reappeared there was nothing of his emotional angst over losing the women he loved until much later and it didn't match up with David's emotions at the start of the book.

Phew the chemistry between Gao and Angelique is smoking! I liked the somewhat slow progression of them falling in love. Really liked how understanding Gao was about I wish we saw more of the transition as Angelique became apart of Gao's pack. It could have been much more emotional when . I'm rooting for Gao and Angelique and can't wait for the next installment.

Question:

Question: Since Werewolves in this world are essentially immortal can Chen and Mai still have kids?

Seriously smokin' and romantic PNR

I’ll start by saying that most readers can safely tack on another star to my rating (reason explained below).

DRAGON MOON, the debut novel by Nulli Para Ora, offers a different take on the paranormal shifter romance by incorporating both an international setting and an inter-racial mating—a Chinese man/shifter and an African-American human. Refreshingly, few of the more common tropes are present and the main characters behave and react like mature adults.

Overall, this book was well-written and engaging so if you love PNR, especially with wolf shifters, I say give this book and new author a try. But beware the smokin’ love moments and high angst factor!

I mulled over my reaction to DRAGON MOON for over a week and even re-read some sections. When I read it, I was probably more in work mode than “pleasure reading” mode. Which resulted in my reading this book with more than the usual critical eye… perhaps even a mild case of the “cranky book fussies” (a term stolen from a very witty friend ^_^).

Whatever the reason (and taking into account my personal baseline), certain things didn’t work for me. For example:

(1) I couldn’t completely buy into the near 0-to-60 speed re: shift in Angelique and David’s relationship. I understood that it was necessary for one of the plot threads but for me, it happened too abruptly—which was problematic because it then lessened the impact of subsequent events.

(2) I had a hard time warming up to Angelique. Some would say that her character was Mary Sue-ish but given that I have a friend who is incredibly smart, kind-hearted, talented and beautiful (the miserable wench!), I could accept that in a fictional character. However, other things were added to this which I thought were questionable under the circumstances and info given (or not given, as the case may be).

(3) I thought that certain key moments in the story were a bit contrived, serving to further the action or plot thread but without logical explanation or basis.

(4) I wished that there had been more/stronger world-building re: the werewolves, especially because they are so long-lived. I never felt that I had a good sense of their secret existence. I also thought that there were some inconsistencies or holes as to certain aspects of the werewolf nature.

(5) On the technical side, random but persistent inconsistencies re: use of italics to denote telepathic thoughts (vs. spoken dialogue) and mixing one character’s dialogue with another’s POV in the same paragraph were distracting and slowed my reading pace. The intermittent intrusion of an omniscient narrator was also a bit disconcerting.

Again, I think that my mood while reading DRAGON MOON had an impact on my overall impression. So I’ll definitely be doing a re-read before the next book in this series. Oh yes, I’m already planning on reading the next one because Ms. Ora shows a lot of promise, especially for a first-timer, and I’m curious as to how and where she takes the Dragon Moon series.

Dragon Moon is going to be hard for me to review. I loved most of this book, but I did have some problems with it. I have to admit Nulli wrote an amazing roller coaster story that will get your emotions all up into turmoil. I felt the author did a good job keeping the romance and paranormal the main focus.

Dragon Moon is an interracial story with a love triangle, as most of you know I hate love triangles. I love my HEA’S. Anyhow, I did feel the author carried out the love triangle very tastefully at least it was very emotional and different then from other books I’ve read. The biggest reason I hate love triangles is because someone is always left out and let me tell you I loved both Gao and David so I feel bad that someone was left out:(. I just hope the author has plans for the one that was left out in the cold this time around.

There are several POV's and the plot has so much information, that I felt like I totally missed getting to really know Gao and Angelique on a personal level. So although I did enjoy the book, I feel readers need to know this is not going to be a walk in the park read, they will need to really stay focused or they might lose their way.

I was satisfied with the HFN ending, but again I hope the author will complete it and give each character their HEA in the future of this series.

I recommend this to readers who love triangles and romance. I wouldn’t say this is an Urban Fantasy story because the author has too much romance entwined into the story.

Angelique and her longtime work companion David head to China, to finalize a deal they have been laboring over. Both harboring feelings toward each other, neither stepped up until now. What they didn't plan for was Gao President of the company they are merging with. Who also happens to be the alpha of the Werewolf pack. Love starts to come at Angelique at both ends, where will her heart take her? David has tunnel vision for Angelique, his primary goal is her. Gao never saw his life mate coming till she was within his grasp. Both want her and have strong loving emotions for her. There can be only one.. right??

With all the love in the air, nobody saw the up coming Werewolf war ahead. Rouges, tears, and Yuen's oh my.

Total creativity all the way around. I really love a new spin on the paranormal. I feel the book was really well written. I had a hard time really getting into the story though. Some parts had so much detail that is what brought the star rating down for me. I love a story that grabs you, one you can totally visualize. This had too much little detail for me. Some parts I felt several pages went by and I was still reading about the same scenario.

I received this for an Honest review. Thank you.

I wish I had read this one earlier for several reasons, primarily because then I wouldn't have had all of the author's later work to compare it to. To put it a bit bluntly, her later work is much better than this book in my opinion. Such is to be expected, however, when comparing a good author's later works to her freshman novel -- the freshman work will generally suffer by comparison. Still, this book is not without it's merits, for it is full of strong characters, intriguing plot ideas, and shows that even in this early book the author already had her characteristic knack for shining a revealing light on difficult social and relationship issues. She doesn't shy away from examining the harsher and more painful issues that often arise in complicated relationships, but pays due homage to them reminds us that love means accepting the bad along with the good and that building a strong relationship takes work and dedication. Love and biological imperatives like a werewolf's mate bond are not necessarily enough to make a relationship work.

I hate to do this. I really do but I'm DNFing this book. While I am curious about how things are going to go with Angelique and Gao I'm having trouble focusing on their story. There are so many other characters , the pacing is off for me and the text was overly wordy.

Though the story has some really good moments it is not giving me an enjoyable experience overall.
