RED LETTERS An erotic suspense thriller from the author of the Lust and Larceny erotic thriller series
Tania Lane is a young woman in rural Connecticut who has fallen unwillingly into a routine of boredom. Her fiancé Martin, an ambitious investment banker, spends most days and many late evenings in New York City on business, leaving Tania alone in an upscale Westport neighborhood new to the couple. When he is home, he's distracted, busy, and tired. Her life wasn't turning out like she had hoped.
One fall day, an anonymous red envelope turns up in the mail addressed to Tania, and her boredom turns to excitement. The envelope contains a single slip of red parchment paper that bears one handwritten phrase: "You are beautiful."
Over the next two weeks, every few days, another letter arrives with a different, yet thrilling message. Tania keeps the letters from Martin, only letting her best friend Katie in on the secret, wondering who her admirer is.
When erotic gifts start showing up by private courier, Tania's excitement turns to desire. And when her mysterious admirer knocks on the door, her world is turned completely upside down.
Life will never be the same. But Tania's fantasy admirer may not be all that he seems. Desire can have consequences.
Red Letters is an erotic suspense thriller novel that contains some graphic sex, violence, and profanity. For mature readers only.
just call me a sucker. I picked up this book after the author started following me on Twitter. checking out her website, I felt in the mood for this kind of book. Here we go.
This book was entertaining in a movie- of-the-week kind of way. It had suspense and a captured some authentic feelings from the main character but the mysterious stranger remained too mysterious for him to count. He was a one dimensional character. The story had some hot moments and could be considered erotica light. The ending was too contrived and brought it down a half star for me.
Krystina Stevens has just become one of my new favorite authors and I can't wait for the next book! I couldn't put this one down and it may have been on of the best books I've read this year!
Tania Lane is a character that most married or engaged women can relate to, and everyone should have a solid yet kooky friend to help her get through anything. The character development and progression of the book were spot on. Rarely do I find characters that are so relatable in an indie book. The twists and turns are spectacular, leaving you guessing with the turn of every page, and just when you think life is good again for Miss-Taken, here comes the ending. Read this book people, you won't be disappointed!
I was excitedly counting down the days until the release of Red Letters. It promised erotic suspense, mystery, and thrills, and delivered all of that plus so much more. The thought of having a secret admirer is thrilling, exciting and mysterious. But what happens when the thrill is gone and you're in too deep? Stevens explores this in a way that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire length of the book, right up until the very last word.
This was my first time reading Stevens' work and cannot wait for more as she has easily moved to the top of my list of favourite erotic suspense writers.
I've had this in my library for a couple of months. Why did I not read it sooner?!!
Krystina Stevens has written a superb book combining erotica with suspense; it is a real page turner that I struggled to put down. Tania is an easy to relate to likeable character, her relationship has stalled as her fiancé is working all the hours gods sends and she is bored. That is until she receives a letter simply saying "you are beautiful" from a secret admirer. And there the mystery begins....
The twists and turns were superb, it had me on the edge of my seat, the erotic content is hot, I loved Tania's quirky best friend Katie and the ending was fabulous. I can definitely recommend.
This was a very enjoyable read. The parts with Tania and Katie were fantastic. They had such a wonderful friendship and their sense of humor was exceptional. It was very easy to empathize with Tania. She was so lonely that when she was shown some attention, even from a complete stranger, it became a lifeline to her. She finally felt alive again. Of course there were consequences for her actions. That was when the book took on a whole different tone.
I still do not get the creepy line in the Epilogue. Gives me the willies!
I learned about this book through the buzz on Twitter and decided to see what it was all about it. I'm so happy I did! This is a great story that is relevant to today's woman. The plot twists in very unexpected ways. Plenty of steamy sex but more important to me was the inner thoughts of a lonely woman needing attention from the man she loves. The ending left me wanting more which is not an easy thing to do. I purchased two other short stories by this author because I enjoy her writing so much.
3.5 Stars I enjoyed this book, once it really got started. The beginning was a little slow, but once it got going...wow!! I wanted to scream at that ending...I may not get to sleep tonight. Rating lost a half star due to some editing errors, but I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a thriller. Will definitely be checking out Ms. Stevens' Lust and Larceny series and look forward to more books by this author.
This was an excellent, hot, steamy, suspense book! This book had me laughing out loud, crying,on the edge of my seat, frustrated, trying to figure out was going to happen next because there were twists and turns I never so coming! I don't want to give anything away because Red Letters is definitely a book that is worth reading! I highly recommend!
I either got this as a freebie from Bookbub or paid $1 for it. I really really enjoyed it! I was initially drawn in by the steamy storyline. About halfway through I was thrown a curve ball that caught me by surprise. After that, I couldn't put it down! I don't want to say too much, but I'll be checking out another of this author's books.
Picked up this book after seeing multiple reccomndations on Twitter. I am so glad I did. It had me on the edge of my seat. It was hot and sexy with just the right amount of danger. An amazing read all around. I highly reccomend this book.
This book was a total surprise. Nothing at all like what I usually read. It had a twist on the eroticism that I am not used to. And what an ending. It was rather slow to start and had some slow building moments. Overall, I liked it.
Well, I finished this book in three hours! The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat and I think the last line of the last page actually gave me a heart attack! I need a second book!
Could not put this down. Its not for the faint hearted as a love story it is not. It kept me on the edge of my seat after a slightly slow start. The twist at the end well...
Great story with a plot twist. Loved the secret admirer angle.. At first I was like wow that would be cool.. But then the shocker...The ending was surprising and I loved how there was a HEA..
I usually dont read suspense but for some reason I felt the need to read Red Letters and I was not disappointed. Definitely a few twists and turns that I wasnt expecting.
The hype over this book is crazy! I remember way back 2013 how I really wanted to get my hands on this book and see what it was all about. Damn, I was not expecting this. The book had me guessing and doubting every character lol! I learned two things from this book. One, thank your lucky stars if you have trust issues (might come in handy in life). Second, there’s a fine line between secret admirer and stalker (check yourself). I don’t know how I feel about the ending, but it’s enough to make me feel so many emotions all at once. Ugh I hate and love endings like this. Now, I’ll never look at red letters the same way ever again.
Warning...Definite spoilers! First point I need to make. This is not a romance...at all. As the main character calls herself at the end of the book...she truly was a ninny. There were so many things wrong with Red Letters. Let me explain these things point by point:
1. I'm pretty sure Tania is an alcoholic....like about 90% sure. Anytime any little thing goes wrong, she solely relies on alcohol to make it all better. (I'm not judging, just sayin')
2. She lives in a GORGEOUS neighborhood and has a fiancé who is working his booty off to provide the best for her and all she can literally do is whine and complain and throw herself pity parties that end with her passing out from being so saturated with wine that she can't stand up straight.
3. She gets letters in the mail from a stranger she's never met, and other sexy goodies. The first night she meets this man, she not only allows him in her house, she allows him to blindfold her and tie her up. Yes, I said that correctly! She had never met the man (Logan) and she literally has him in her house for 2 minutes (max) before she was pulling him upstairs!! Good thing he's not a serial killer......oh wait.... *rolling eyes*
4. Tania CHOSE to have sex with him!!!
5. Nothing about this book flowed well. There were so many inconsistencies that it made my head spin. She's sad, lonely, and needy....And then when she makes the decision that should ruin her safe little world and brings a serial killer into her life she becomes scared and needy. Are you getting the picture of how unlikeable she was? Blah!
6. THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE!! RAWR! She cheats on her fiancé to have kinky sex with a stranger, and then the stranger is a serial killer and yea....there you go. But don't worry, the fiancé takes her back without blinking.
I'm all out of steam, but I know there were other things that annoyed me about this book. I'm surprised my eyes didn't stick to the top of my head from rolling them so much.

Neglected by her workaholic fiancé, Tania feels unloved and lonely. When the letters and gifts arrive from a secret admirer, they are just the pick-me-up she needs to feel better about herself. And when her relationship with her fiancé further deteriorates, she surrenders to the urge to meet this mystery man who seems to know exactly what she needs. Wow. What a sexy and sinister read. To be clear, Red Letters is NOT an erotic romance, but an erotic thriller about a woman whose secret admirer is not what he appears to be. Author Krystina Stevens leads the reader down a dark and sexy path from erotic titillation to terror and keeps the reader guessing every step of the way. As the reader, you know Tania choices aren’t good ones, but you don’t fully understand what the stakes are until the author shows you. Red Letters is a well-written fresh story that feels very real from beginning to end. The tension built slowly, incrementally as the story unfolded until by the end, I couldn’t the book down.
I was totally into this book until about 1/2 way thru. This could've been a 5 star book but it just lost the momentum for me. I thought the author really had something here and the book had lots of potential but I just couldn't ignore the believability of this story. It did pick up for me after a disappointing ridiculous scene and I thought it was making a comeback and I got into it again and then...Bam...lost it again. I was like, really, you gotta be kidding me, c'mon how stupid is this character. How could she not question the creepiness of the situation. At the end of the story instead of feeling sympathy for her, I completely blame her. All i kept thinking is, yeah, it IS all your fault and you ARE responsible for the mess you allowed to happen, you big idiot! To be honest, I really hate giving this book a mediocre review. I was really excited to read it and I truly wanted to like it but in the end it was just disappointing.
This book was a bit of a disappointment for me. I was really excited after reading the synopsis on good reads and the great reviews, but this fell flat for me. I never became invested in the main character Tania. The story was about Tania's loneliness due to her over worked fiancée, but I never felt the loneliness. It started off slow, than halfway through when the "Red Letters" started arriving it picked up my interest only to be let down by a predictable ending.
The Epilogue lost me completely, I don't know where the author was going with this, will there be a follow up book or was it just for "shock" value? The whole book felt like an outdated 80's late Saturday night thriller.
I really hate to write this review, I really wanted to like this book, the story line had great potential however, it just did not work for me.
I was looking for a sexy read and I hate to say it but I totally judged a book by it's cover. Although indeed, this book got sexy sometimes, (dang if this book didn't make you want to just go and buy a rabbit asap) it frustrated the heck out of me!!! There's only so much I could take when all I read about was how Tania spent her days drinking and finishing her bottles of wine All. The. Time.!!! Seriously, I just couldn't fricking take it! And then, I thought it was so crazy how she just let a total stranger come in and seduce her with restraints without any concern, conversation or asking any questions. But hey, that's just me. Sorry!
This should have been categorized as maybe a sexy thriller or mystery. It's definitely not erotic. The sex was OK, mostly either glazed over, short or cut off. There was way too much build up. If it was a thriller or mystery, it would be fine. I expected a lot more. The ending really pissed me off, but I don't like unknowns (seemed contradictory as well) and wouldn't read a part two if there was one.
I'm sorry to say but after all the hype on twitter I am really disappointed in this book. I found the story missing so much, the concept was a good idea but so much more could have been out into the relationship with Tania and Logan and in the end I am left feeling as though it was all just a little too far fetched. The ending hasn't left me begging for the release of a follow up anytime soon and that is unusual for me.
Wow! What a book! Very exciting and hard to put down, so I only did once till I finished it. Very sexy and well written, right till the end. I will admit, some parts had me gasping for breathe and my husband looking at me funny as I talked out loud about what the hell was going on. Read it, you'll love the excitement and heart pounding story that will get you hot and then scare that crap out of you. I loved it! Great Job, Krystina! I will definitely be reading more of your books :)
started off slow....pity party chic was killing me. then I started relating to her on a more personal level because I have been there. the red letters start coming and all the intense mystery!! then holy hell the story just took a complete turn!! never was I expecting any of that to happen. a must read and for 99 cents you are a fool if u don't check this out.
