A once in a lifetime dream date turns into a nightmare in seconds. This is the premise of In My Sights.
Sergeant Bobby Martin is a member of the pararescuemen who’s trying to get past an infatuation with the woman who just married one of his buddies. What he soon realizes is it’s not the woman he wants, but the commitment. He’s had enough of the ‘love ‘em and leave ‘em’ lifestyle and would like to find a woman he can settle down with. Unfortunately, he feels he may have lost his opportunity. With the insistence of his teammates, however, he signs up for a 1Night Stand, figuring he has nothing to lose by trying.
Siobhan Cantrell is a beautiful young woman who is trying her best to piece her life back together after being the victim of an awful shooting that took the lives of her brother, best friend and boyfriend. She’d been injured by the bullet, but the shooter took much more from her. Finally gathering her courage, she asked Madame Eve to find her a man in order to take back her security.
What neither of them knows is that the shooter has not given up looking for Siobhan.
There is so much packed into these few short pages. I loved this story. The hero is your typical alpha male: strong, brave and determined to protect his woman. Siobhan has been a victim, but refuses to allow a tragedy to define her. She’s fighting back, and once she realizes who Bobby is, she begins to think perhaps he’s the man who can help her find herself.
Once they realize the shooter has not given up, Bobby’s protective mode kicks in. There’s nothing hotter than a man protecting his woman, but I loved that Siobhan didn’t cower in the corner. She was just as strong, determining her own fate.
I only had one issue with the story, and that was the mystery aspect didn’t seem to be fully resolved by the end of the book. 1Night Stand characters typically don’t continue, book to book, so I’m wondering if we will ever find the answers this story didn’t clearly define. I’m glad we got our happily ever after, though.
If you like a steamy romance between two strong characters, mixed with a little suspense, this is absolutely one to pick up!

I’ve read this novella multiple times since I purchased it back in 2014 but have never gotten around to posting a review so here goes. I rated this story 3.5 Stars so I rounded it up to 4 Stars. I really enjoyed this novella, and I thought that it was a good addition to the 1 Night Stand (1NS) and the Pararescuemen Series’ by LJ Garland and Debbie Gould. It was a short, sweet & steamy insta-love novella, which is part of the course with all of the 1NS Series books. Siobhan Cantrell decides to book a date through Madame Eve so she can start living again, since she’s been a recluse for the last six months after the sh*oting that k*lled her brother, best friend and her boyfriend while they were at lunch together. If Siobhan hadn’t gone to bend down to pick up her wallet she would’ve been k*lled as well, but the b*llet skimmed her skull instead. She was lucky to live but has major PTSD which understandable. The night of her date with Bobby is the first time that she’s been out in public, apart from her local convenience store.
Sergeant Bobby Martin’s team leader Colin found true love using Madame Eve’s dating service but Bobby’s sceptical that it’s for him. He ends up giving into peer pressure from his teammates and signs himself up. He freaks out and plans to cancel when he gets the email from Madame Eve telling him about his date but Colin talks him out of it as he made Colin go through with his date. I thought Bobby and Siobhan were great together and their chemistry was off the charts, as well as hot as hell. I thought that for such a short story it definitely packs a punch. I enjoyed the suspense aspect of the story regarding the sniper targeting Siobhan to finish the job that he started six months prior. Will Bobby and his team be able to keep Siobhan safe and using their own resources find and stop the sniper before he’s able to finish the job? I’m looking forward to reading Zeke’s story next. I’d recommend this novella, Pararescuemen Series, 1NS and both authors to everyone.

If you read
Second Chance
, Book one of the Pararescuemen series, then you are probably already in love with Bobby; if you didn't read it…don’t worry this is a standalone story -- and it will only take a page or two to understand my feelings for Bobby.
I was thrilled, yet again, by this author; her ability to build such an exciting suspenseful multi-layered plot in such a short story was amazing. It didn't hurt that Bobby is tough and way HOT! I don’t typically enjoy the ‘damsel in distress’, but even with Siobhan’s life in danger she maintains are feisty personally; a heroine after my own heart.
Fingers crossed there are MANY future installments in the Pararescuemen series.

In My Sights was a very intense and emotional short story. It was so well written and plotted that I felt like I had read a full novel by the end. These authors did an amazing job, weaving suspense, sexual tension, loyalty, love and friendship into a short read with a big punch.

In My Sights has all of the aspects of a 1Night Stand story I have come to know and love. At the same time, it is so different with the hero and heroine on the run from a sniper. This story is sexy and suspenseful at the same time. A great read for those who love romantic suspense, sexy military men, and if you enjoy a great romance story.

I really enjoyed this cute, short romance. I love the suspense angle I hadn't expected and the friendship of the hero and his military buddies. And it totally reminded me why I love stories with military heroes!
