My Body Trilogy #2

My Body-His (Marcello)

Rate this book
Book two in the My Body trilogy (Dark Erotic Suspense, not Romance)

Jane Stiles has embarked on an intense odyssey into the world of domination and submission. She no longer recognizes herself. She has quit her job, surrendered her possessions and agreed to a wedding where she is the only one naked, all for the sake of the elusive Luke—a man so compelling, she can deny him nothing. Now there is no going back. Her new life will revolve around Luke, his friends and clients.

Hovering in the background is Luke’s best friend Marcello, whose ego is as towering as his stature. Marcello has set his sights on Jane. She is drawn to his power, his masculinity, and the challenge he represents, even though she fears and dislikes him. After Luke discovers that Jane has breached one of his many “rules,” he sends her to Marcello for punishment and lessons in Dom/sub culture. What happens there will change her forever.

Jane and Luke reconcile, and even find a rhythm that includes not only bondage and punishment but genuine love-making. Just when Jane is convinced that the happiness and devotion she has always craved is within reach, Luke pushes her beyond endurance, and she rebels in a way her harsh husband cannot forgive. From there, her life spins out of control. But Jane has a strong spirit, and she will prevail.

Rage-quit at 75%.

I found this book at the bottom of my kindle. I don't even remember why or when I bought it, and the second one in the series at that.

What a piss-poor excuse for a female character. My god! Up until I desided to throw in a towel, she kept complaining about him not caring about her. The asshole really didn't though. Her outfit on her wedding day was only a body paint and a butplug. It all would have been dandy if only kinksters were invited. Nope! Her mother was at the wedding. What the fuck was the point of that?
The hubby kept fucking it up, she kept leaving him, then kept begging him to take her back. He presented her with 7 conditions, she said yes to all of them, then kept whining about it through the whole book. She got a safe word, but with a condition attached, and it's a big one. If she uses it, it's over, not just the scene, but the whole realationship. They are fucking married! She safe-words during the gang-bang, or as her husband called it "a party", which she wasn't informed about before hand. What does her husband do? He tells her to pack her shit and get out, and changes locks of the house they both live in. Of course she comes crawling back to ask for his forgiveness. Da fuck?
Don't even get me started on him loaning her to his friend, whom she dislikes, also who is in love with her, while having another submissive at the same time, who also surprises her with "a party".. But kinksters gonna be kinking, it's neither here nor there. What I couldn't stand was the fact what a doormat she was.

Now, the author's note, at the begging of the book, did bother me a lot, even more so after I read what I read in the book. Apparently, after releasing the first book in the series, she had received some messages saying her story is not a fair representation of the BDSM lifestyle, character's relationship being abussive and all. And that's why she felt the need to explane that some relationships are like that. Sure, I thought, but it's still abussive! On the other hand, why would anyone pick up a book as such, looking for true facts? It's called fiction, Google the definition! Then again, I've read few dark and twisted fictional stories that made sence, this one however, did not. What was the point of author's note in the book? I didn't get it.

My overall impression, poorly written characters with a story that is all over the place, that made no fucking sense. Moving on to bigger and better things.

I couldn't wait to tear into this book after staying up most nights for a week to finish the first one. Again, not really what I expected in some ways but delightfully surprised. I am not easily impressed, but this author has a way of looking at the characters from different angles in such a way that you will connect with them all in some way. The book was very easy to read, yet had me pausing to think of my own life and relationship dynamics.

Get ready to experience a rollercoaster of emotions as you read MY BODY-HIS (MARCELLO), it was a sexy, thrilling, nerve-racking and a sometimes exasperating experience, but well worth the emotional turmoil.

Don’t even think about reading this second book in the MY BODY TRILOGY until you have read the first book, MY BODY-HIS – although both books are complete and don’t leave you with any major cliffhangers, you will be totally lost without the knowledge of how Jan and Luke’s relationship came to fruition.

For readers who found the elements of book 1 as bordering on abuse since the heroine seemed to be constantly forced into outrageous situations that she did not care to partake in nor did she enjoy, but participated in simply to please her Dom - well, you may be on to something there. MY BODY-HIS (MARCELLO) has a decidedly different tone. The main character, Jane, comes out of her shell (somewhat) by taking a stand when she has a strong aversion to a request and putting her foot down when activities in which she does not want to engage are forced upon her. But let’s be real here… This is a D/s relationship to the extreme, bordering on a Total Power Exchange and that does not change overnight – in the beginning of the book, I thought Luke had miraculously turned into a sane Dom and that just would not have been realistic. Never fear, realism was preserved; warm and loving Luke only lasted for a hot second.

On the eve of their wedding, Jane is introduced to monumentally egotistical Marcello, Luke’s best friend. Marcello makes no qualms about the fact that he intends to possess Jane in all aspects of the word and confidently expresses that he always gets what he wants. Yes, well, it appears that his confidence was not unfounded. At first, Marcello brought a seriously menacing vibe to the scene and I just didn’t know how I would be able to endure the misery he was sure to inflict on poor Jane, but as his character developed, I was intensely attracted to his brand of dominance. Now, back to Luke, in the first installment, I couldn’t figure out if I loved or hated Luke, but as the story progressed in this second novel, Luke’s behavior solidified my extreme dislike for his character.

Jane, Jane, Jane… Oh! How could I possibly count the number of times I just wanted to shake her and slap some sense into that brain of hers? By the end, it appears that she gained some strength and self-worth from the nightmare that is her life. I am confident that there is light at the end of the tunnel for Jane - author Blakely Bennett stated that “[Jane] comes into her own in My Body-Mine.” (View Comment Here) So, there IS hope that Jane will once again feel whole and not be just the shell of a person she has become..

MY BODY-HIS (MARCELLO) is an excellent example of dark erotica at it’s best. If the dark-side calls to you and an emotional BDSM read is what you are craving, then this trilogy will likely be just what the doctor ordered!

So Luke is still an asshole in this book and I hate him even more than before. Jane still needs a back bone but she is getting stronger. I am loving Marcello and Janice for all the wrong reason.

I enjoyed this book far more that My Body - His. If you love BDSM book you will love this.

Can't wait to read My Body - Mine.

My Body-His Marcello is the second book in Blakely Bennett's My Body series. This erotic romance starts off as we see Jane getting married to Luke. Luke and Jane embark on a tumultuous romance in book one with Jane's introduction into the BDSM lifestyle. Unfortunately for Jane this is her first exposure to such a lifestyle and is always finding her limits pushed by new demands of submission. Luke has demanded that Jane's body be his for the taking and demonstrates this by having her marry him in the nude with her mother, her and his friends in attendance. At the wedding she is introduced to Marcello, a good friend of Luke's for the first time. Marcello is also in the BDSM lifestyle as are all of Luke's friends in attendance at the wedding. Jane is taken aback at Marcello's insistence that he will “have” Jane on her wedding night, however is chastised by Luke when she rebuffs him.
As their relationship progresses, Jane begins to see that she is not to have a will of her own, but rather to submit to whatever the wishes or desires of Luke. When she “acts” against Luke's wishes by being rude to Marcello at the wedding, she is later informed she must “pay” for her defiance with a punishment doled out by Janice, Marcello's current female submissive, who also happens to be Luke's ex-girlfriend. She has never been “disciplined” as harshly as Marcello dictates by Janice's hand, however withstands this punishment. Jane continues to have a strong opinions and wills that are not to Lukes likings and upon another episode of defiance is sent to Marcello's residence for obedience training and punishment.
While under Marcello's dominance, Janice shows Jane tender care and the two women become friends. Although Jane is jealous of Luke's past relationships in the first book, she has come to acceptance that Luke loves her and she is the only woman that he has married, therefore looks past the fact that Janice is Luke's previous lover and becomes friendly with the woman. Also while at Marcello's residence she discovers a side to Marcello that she never anticipated. She discovers that although his idea of discipline can be harsher he also shows a tender side. He is actually kind to her and begins to change her opinion of him.
Without giving away the whole plot of the book, Jane continues down the path of total submission to Luke, but discovers that she is no longer the Jane that she previously was and is not sure she likes the changes. As the books continues Jane has a choice to make, continue down the path that she is going, to which Janice has told her there is “no return,” or once again discover who she is and ultimately what she wants.
This book is a tumultuous, erotic ride that has you feeling the ups and downs that any relationship has, however all the other aspects of a BDSM relationship also come into play making it that much more difficult. A lot of emotion and erotica are in store for the reader of this book. I enjoyed this book very much and highly anticipate what the third installment has in store for Jane.

First off, a bit of housekeeping. I wouldn’t do this except that apparently this wasn’t a sequel but just the latter half of the original novel so it applies. There has been some discussion over whether or not people would consider the first book a Romance. I would point that out that I compared it to Comfort Food, a novel where a woman is kidnapped by a madman and isolated in a room until she falls in love with her captor and never wants to leave him in a decidedly-Stockholm Syndromish sort of way and Consequences, a novel where a woman is kidnapped by a ruthless businessman, raped and held prisoner until her captor is convinced that has her sufficiently under control that she won’t try to expose what happened. So I think it is fair to say I was never confused about this being a Romance.

Officially, this is categorized as Erotic Suspense. My only problem with that is that I didn’t find it Erotic and there really wasn’t much Suspense.

To me, this was a bit of insight into Battered Person’s Syndrome. Jane allows a stranger to take control of her life and ends up homeless and penniless sleeping on a beach. Yet at the same time she is totally in denial over what happened. She even addresses the reader on this point, trying to explain to the Reader how she would differ from such a person but that rang really hollow to me.

Usually around this point I say something about the fact that I couldn’t tell if Jane was actually a submissive. I won’t do that this time because I am sure she was. The issue is Luke. He wasn’t a Dom. He may have been trying to be one for the past 28 years (yes - that long) but I think his issue wasn’t that he hadn’t met the right person but that he was attempting to be something he wasn’t and failing badly. Something that Marcello should have pointed out to him long before now and perhaps he had. In the first novel, I had Marcello pegged as evil - now I consider him just sad. He seems to be a very unhappy person to me.

Conclusion: An Interesting read but definitely not a fun one.

This is part two or continuation if you will of the My Body-His trilogy. My Body-His (Marcello)starts off where the first story left off. Jane has gotten married to Luke (naked while he is in a suit just because that is what Luke wants)and pledged to follow every single demand Luke wants or decides. Jane soon finds out how far Luke's can go after she makes the mistake of offending one of Luke's friends at their wedding.

Can Jane handle the life she was so quickly thrown into and become the perfect submissive or will she struggle with the things Luke expects her to do? Does Jane use her safe word even if it means that at the moment those safe words are spoken Luke will completely cast her out of his life ?
Be prepared to ride this emotional roller coaster and try to control your anger. I had to struggle to contain myself with this one !!

My Body His(Marcello) the second book in the “My Body Series” is even more riveting than the first. I think I finished this book in one sitting because I was unable to put it down.

If you thought Jane’s life couldn’t possibly get any worse, think again.

My Body His (Marcello) picks up where book one left off. Author Blakely Bennett continues to take us through an emotional whirlwind of a ride as we continue the downward spiral of what has become Jane’s life.

Having quit her job, sold her condo, given up her car and infrequent contact with her friends, Luke has Jane right where he wants her…… isolated and dependent upon him for everything. He also has her body at his disposal to do with as he pleases. Jane, however, sees this as an opportunity to spend more “vanilla” time with her husband and possibly earn a place in his “family” photo album.

I was really hoping that Jane would wise up but no such luck. She’s coming into her own… sexually and becoming a bit more vocal about her dislike for some of the things Luke coerces her into, but she’s still being led by her vagina and refuses to listen to that inner voice. After being rude to Luke’s guest, he decides Jane needs some discipline so he sends her to his good friend who is more than willing to handle the task. Marcello, whom we met briefly in My Body -His, is as Cocky as he is confident with a super sized ego to boot. He lets Jane know that he intends to make her his in no uncertain terms. We also learn a bit more about Marcello’s sub Janice, Luke’s previous sub, whom Jane believes held a special place in his heart.

I really wanted to dislike Marcello but by the end of book 2, he really grew on me. The care and concern that he showed for Jane ( the care and concern her husband should have shown for her) was more of what a Dom/Sub relationship should be like. Janice on the other hand, I couldn’t quite figure out. Like Marcello, I wanted to dislike her and initially I was glad that Jane had someone in the lifestyle to confide in but her loyalties definitely lied with Marcello and she gave off a sneaky vibe. I’ll have to wait until My Body -Mine to decide for sure, how I feel about her :0

The emotion that Bennett was able to elicit from me is what makes for a damn good read. Characters that have the ability to pull a range of feelings out of the reader be it hatred, pity, or love is the sign of a well developed character and Luke, Jane, Marcello, and Janice were able to do just that. Watching Jane continue to spiral out of control really tugged at my heart strings. Her desperation and despair had me pondering the dangers of loving someone more than yourself. Her need to feel loved and cared for, not to mention those mind blowing orgasms, took precedence over everything else. While we know where this need stems from( absent father and alcoholic mother) we don’t quite get the details of what really happened, what her childhood was like. While Blakely does give us a bit more insight into Luke, I still have mixed feelings about him. I know he has a story somewhere that has undoubtedly shaped him into the seemingly cold man that he has become. He turns his emotions on and off at the drop of a dime and runs hot and cold as well.I can’t help but think this is some form of self-preservation of sorts.

Don’t stone me but I was just as bad as Jane, hoping for Luke to take her back just so that I could have some confirmation that he indeed cared for her or that her absence affected him in some way.

The fact that Luke was so blase’ is what I found the most infuriating. It’s just like she no longer existed anymore which is what he told her would happen should their relationship ever end. I hope there is some closure in My Body Mine, the final book in the series.

If You’ve read My Body -His, the first book in the My Body Trilogy…then reading My Body His (Marcello) should be a no brainer….this is definitely a must read!

I have been an avid reader my entire life, reading everything I could in many different genres. My favorite genre is romantic fiction, beginning with classics like Pride and Prejudice and gradually moving toward books with more “hot” scenes. Still, I admit to getting bored with how predictable these books are. That is why I decided to read books classified as “mommy porn” or “erotica.” My first experience was with the Fifty Shades of Gray series. It was hard to read at first because I just couldn’t envision such a different lifestyle than my own. I thought it dragged at times too. The saving grace for me was that it did end up being a love story. Blakely Bennett’s book, My Body - His gave me another look at the BDSM lifestyle. Again, I was having a hard time because this wasn’t at all my idea of how love should look (and after reading more about BDSM, realizing that this book doesn’t even describe a healthy BDSM relationship). What I did experience, though, was a powerful connection to the characters. The writing just drew me into the book and even though I hate cliff hangers, I anxiously awaited the arrival of the second book in the trilogy. My Body - His (Marcello).

I couldn't put it down. It is good that I finally came to see this as an alternative form of literature, rather than as a typical romance book. Right now I'm still deciding whether I hate Luke or feel sorry for him because he'll never be a happy fulfilled person as the control freak he has become. I have mixed feelings about Marcello too. At the end of the first book I thought he was such a total jerk but I see that perhaps he is more the typical BDSM dom and does not truly abuse his subs. As for Jane, I want to wring her neck and hope to see her voyage of self-discovery end with her gaining the self-confidence to stop looking for the father figure she is missing. It doesn't even matter to me if she decides to stay in a dom-sub relationship, as long as it does not destroy her own sense of self. As usual, the writing was excellent with all the characters (even the minor ones) really grabbing my full attention. I can’t wait for the final book in the trilogy!

Once again I have read a book in one sitting. The story of Jane compels you to continue. To see where her disillusioned mind will lead her.

As with the first book of this series, I spent my time cringing at every unfortunate turn of events for this woman. I just don't know that I can sufficiently express my thoughts here. Perhaps once I read the third and final novel of the series I will be able to finally wrap my head around Jane's story.

I'll give it to you Blakely. You sure know how to write a doosey of a novel. You are a stronger woman than I. I don't think that I could ever get into the proper head space to be able to concoct such a story, and still come out sane on the other side of it. Koodos to you for being able to. You've written it beautifully, giving us a rare look into the mind of a beatifully broken woman. Now let's see if she can put humpty dumpty back together again.

I read this book hoping for an outcome but not sure of what was in store for me. Blakely Tells a storey of a damaged relationship between Jane and Luke. Jane blindly went into a BDSM relationship with Luke because of the awareness and passion Luke awoke in her. This in NOT a healthy or correct lifestyle story which the author explains in the beginning of the book. The journey I took with Jane was way to close to home and to be able to get so attatched to a character left me emotionaly drained at the end of this story. I can not wait to continue Janes Journey and to see what role Janice and Marcello have in her life and her owning back what she had lost when she lost herself in Luke. Phenomenal Read and Kudos to Blakely!!!

This book was more tense the first book. I also did find myself upset with Luke and Jane in here more. I could believe how far he took it and could not understand why she used the safe word. He should have been more understanding since he did not know even what happened. Jane you should not give up fighting if that is who you want to be with. I figured you would have gone after him when you saw him at the beach. I will be starting book three I hope my thought are going to happen. But I really don't think it will turn out the way I hope

What can I say, this is one hot book. Jane goes from her crazy relationship with Luke to ending up with Marcello. Blakley takes you from hating Marcello to wanting Jane to be there, sort of. Blakely’s writing is so strong. She gives such personality to each character that I find myself really getting emotional. I want to scream at Luke, then at Jane, then Marcello. You become part of the book even as you go up and down the emotional roller coaster with Jane. The sex scenes are very well written and well, hot. You could read the book just for those alone.

Wow!! Is the word that just keeps coming out of my mouth. The book just kept me on the edge of my seat! I read it in one day because every page keeps you going for more! Jane goes through an emotional roller coaster that keeps you wondering... can she pull through this. Marcello and Janice have been her biggest champions and see the amazing person that she is. Throughout it all I am so proud of Jane and believe me there is nothing "plain" about her. Another 5 star read from Blakely Bennett. Now on to My Body- Mine because there's no way I'm stopping now!

Blakely Bennett continues this trilogy with an intense heart beating story about domination and the dilemma for Jane and her need to love and be loved. The book was riveting and when I was finished reading it I was begging for more. Blakely Bennett draws a strong picture of the BDSM lifestyle. She writes well and draws you in from the first page.

"Sometimes love isn't good love."

I'm emotionally drained after reading this book!! This book starts with the wedding ceremony of Luke (Dom) and Jane (Sub). From the moment they say 'I Do', more problems in their already dysfunctional BDSM relationship start. The introduction of Marcello (Luke's BFF) and Janice (Luke's Ex-Girlfriend/Submissive) at the wedding kicks off many months of drama, pain, pleasure and heartache.

This book touched on so much emotionally for me. Back in the day, I can recall that feeling of hopelessness, despair and not knowing where your next breath was coming from on the heels of a breakup. I literally felt Jane's pain and my heart ached for her. She had a desperate need to be loved and to belong to someone. Repeat: "Sometimes love isn't good love". I wish someone would have told me that 28 years ago!

Jane, Luke, Marcello and Janice are some of the strongest and complex book characters I have ever read to date. There is something I strongly disliked about each of these characters, but yet I was drawn to them too. I wanted to find understanding and the good in each of them. I'm pretty sure when I visit a beach, I will think about Jane.

Jane's character was deep and real. Some folks will think she is weak and should have shown more backbone and stood up to Luke. It is my understanding that standing up to your Dom is not an option in a D/s relationship. When Jane did speak her mind, she did it with the knowledge that a potential punishment was coming. This in fact, made her strong in my opinion for standing her ground when she needed to.

The Author's Note in the beginning of the book was excellent! Jane wanted/needed this type of relationship. The pain/pleasure excited her and was totally consensual. She wanted/needed her boundaries pushed, and boy did they get pushed. This trilogy is about a very dysfunctional BDSM relationship and Jane's journey to find her HEA. I absolutely loved reading this jacked up tale and I can't wait to see how all of this plays out. Bravo, excellent book!

My Body-His (Marcello), the second in the My Body Trilogy (dark, erotic, suspense), has a lot of highs and lows. Jane's plight tore at my heart and I felt all her emotions along the way. Although Jane has the most evolution through the course of the trilogy, Marcello has a pretty wide character arc as well. I hated him so much at first but he showed he had the personality to evolve in light of what Jane experiences. I love that my characters surprise me and Marcello definitely did.

I love that I got to know the characters even better through writing this novel.

I am beyond upset!

I feel like i just wasted hours on nothing. First of all, Jane made me want to choke her and leave her chained in a basement where nobody will ever see her again! She was obsessed and Luke was just blind! What type of people are they? They both took things too far, Jane more so than Luke. Marcello stayed in the background trying to win Jane over no matter how much she obsessed over getting Luke back. It was all ridiculous!
