Bad! Reads like an infomercial or marketing website. It just screams words like "charlatan", "snake oil", "bullshit", etc. It teaches you nothing & is essentially nothing more than a thick brochure for the author's School of Wicca. Avoid this author altogether, as most of his other books read the same way. No real substance.
Overall a decent read. A tad bit more for the older practitioner, rather then a young person or a person just getting started.
My one gripe, is the continuous and overdone reference to "endorphin adjustments". After the first time or two, I get that sex is used as a release. It's okay to use the word sex, too. One hopes we're all relatively mature adults who at the very least don't get all giggly over the word sex. Geez.
Based on the first 3-4 chapters of this book, I probably would have given it a two star rating. The lack of cohesive and coherent information in this book from two “reputable” authors is astonishing. It took conscious effort to push through the first few chapters attempting to convince the reader of witchcraft and its efficacy. However, the little decent nuggets of information in the following chapters allowed me to bump this rating to a 3 star review. This is certainly not what I would consider a “handbook” for witchcraft. At the most, it contains some basic information witchcraft with lots of stories from other people about their experiences. However, being a handbook implies being a beginner’s book to gain a basic understanding and foundation of witchcraft. This book definitely does not do that for the reader. There are great little nuggets of information for someone new to the craft, but I would not recommend this for a first introduction. This book is 20 years old, and the teachings of witchcraft available to the general public has come leaps and bounds ahead of this handbook. Not a bad book to read and add to your collection, but it is not one I would consider as a “must have”.
No just no. I can't stand this book. Right off the bat promotes hexes to get what you want. If that's what you're into fine, but this book gave no consequences for hexing. Every Chapter has multiple stories of witches which read as really crappy "moral" stories. One woman apparently cured her cancer with magic. But then in another section of the book they say not to use magic to cure serious illnesses and to go to a doctor. So which is it Frost? Shits on and invalidates the use of anti-depressants. Has a story where a woman saves herself from suicide by carrying salt over her heart. Refers to Goddess statues as mascots. This book is a joke and I felt like I was being recruited into a cult rather than a spiritual path. I ended up just skimming through most of it. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone especially not beginners. The very small amounts of actual good information can be acquired in other books so don't waste your money on this.
