Emergency Room Doctor, Jenny Anderson, might be manless right now, but she's come to find out her life is a lot less complicated that way. She's sorely tempted to change that situation though, when sexy wildcat oilman Chase Rhodes is brought into her ER for treatment of a gunshot wound, and then asks her to dinner.
With a mountain of student loans to pay off, an ex-fiance who accused her of sleeping with his father, and a crazy cat who hates men, she has enough on her plate though without adding a man in the mix, especially a patient, so she refuses. When Jenny finds out he was out on a boat with a woman when he got shot, and his mama tries to set her up with him by throwing a party to 'thank' her for saving her baby boy's life, Jenny quickly realizes two things about Chase Rhodes...he's a mama's boy and a player.
Even though the man looked like a male model, and had a smile that could melt her panties at fifty paces, she was not going there. Jenny had bigger things to worry about anyway, like deciding whether she was joining Doctors Without Borders and going to Africa for two years to pay off her student loans.
When Chase shows up at her apartment unexpectedly, and offers her a job that includes paying off her student loans and a six-figure salary to train his oil rig medics, it's one she can't refuse. With a choice between Africa and Amarillo, there really wasn't a choice...even if it meant resisting her irresistible new boss.
Waking up in the emergency room with a beautiful blond angel in white hovering above him, Chase Rhodes thought he was dead, but figured if she was his guide to the pearly gates, dying might be worth it. After the beautiful doctor patched him up, he couldn't resist asking her to dinner. When she turns him down flat, Chase is disappointed, but determined to win her over.
He was going to change his luck with women, starting now. For some reason, women just didn't think he was a keeper. They either wanted him for sex or friendship, and he was tired of it. He was friendly, helped out where he could, but they took that to mean he was only friendship material, evidently. Maybe if he was as much of a tool as the men they seemed to prefer, he'd be better off...but that just wasn't him.
Although he didn't need anymore female friends, Chase figures out that's where he'll have to start with the gorgeous woman, so he goes to her apartment to offer an olive branch. While there, Chase is stunned when she tells him she's considering going to Africa to pay off her student loans. He can't believe she doesn't consider it dangerous! Hell, with the unrest over there, she could be captured and traded for goats...not something he was going to let happen.
Since he and his daddy had been talking about hiring a Health and Safety Officer for their company, and she would be as good a fit as any, Chase offers her the job. He could train her on the safety part of the job, Chase knew oil derricks inside and out. He'd worked on them in every position, since he was a teenager. His idea seemed to be a good solution all the way around. It would also give him time to get to know her better and convince her to give him a chance.
Jenny throws a wrench in his idea though, when she adds the caveat that if she accepts the job, there would be no hanky panky between them. Having no choice if he wanted to keep her safe, Chase accepts her terms, and helps her move to Amarillo.
Soon, they are fighting more than their attraction to each other though, when several of his derricks are hit by arsonists, and his dad tells him to find out who's behind the sabotage fast. As the well fires heat up, so do Jenny and Chase's feelings for each other, and battling both proves impossible.
It's hot in the Texas oil patch, but even hotter at Rhodes Drilling and Exploration, for more reasons than one.

I love this series for so many reason I have written in previous reviews. I love that I feel like I am part of the story that is unfolding as I turn page after page. The plot twists and turns. Characters from the other books in the series making an appearance just makes the books makes them seem even more real :) Chase deserved his happy ending and the women that have come into his life through the series and how they protect him in this book against the women whom is making him crazy, well you need to read to really truly understand how much people care about this man and how much he cares about his friends.
The chemistry that these two have for each other. It will make you laugh and cry like most of the other books. I just might be a softy but I love how invested I get in the series. I highly suggest you start from book one through book seven so far with many more to come :) Come visit trouble texas :)
This one was about Jenny, who was Beau Bowman's ex, and Chase. Jenny is a doctor in the emergency room when Chase comes in to be treated for a gun shot wound he got while helping protect Jazzie. Jenny treats Chase and he is attracted to her and ask her to dinner and she refuses. After which she had wish she didn't refuse. They get together and Chase offers her a job with their company helping to bring their safety manuals up to date. This book also has a lot of action in it as Chase tries to find out who is setting fires to their oil wells. Its a great book
A drug cartel plays cupid but seeing as they were using real live ammo, it's just as well the aim was a little off! Really liked this story and was happy to see Chase and Jenny move past previous poor choices.
I liked this even though Jenny was a beotch, well she had her moments and Chase was just so loveable, being a klutz and being gorgeous and sweet talking her all the time.
Chasing Trouble is the seventh book in the Texas Trouble series, and is the story of Chase Rhodes and Jenny Anderson. Chase is a wildcat oilman, loves his job, his family, and is instantly drawn to Jenny when he wakes up in the Emergency Room to the lovely angel bending over his bed. Jenny is an emergency room doctor that is drowning in student loans, she doesn't have time for dating, but that is exactly what Chase wants. The answer to all of Jenny's problems comes when Chase ask her to work for his company as a Health and Safety officer, the pay and benefits are fantastic and something she cannot possibly turn down. Jenny soon finds her attraction to Chase is impossible to resist, and she finds herself falling for him. But the question is will they live long enough to find out where their attraction is headed? Looks like someone has a grudge against Rhodes Drilling and Exploration and they need to figure out who and why soon. This book is loaded with action, suspense, romance, family and friends. Five stars for this one and on to the next book, this series just keep getting better!!
After so many friends who are women Chase finally finds one who can maybe fall in love with hi! Problems? Yeah it just happens to be Jenny who Beau was engaged to for awhile. Ugh. For whatever reason I did not like Jenny much from the beginning and then the book evolves and My opinion changed. I was really thrilled that Chase finally found a woman who would really love him and give him a family of his own. The ride of their relationship was so rocky and the mystery so suspenseful i almost skipped to the end to be sure it worked out. Bravo Becky really good job. Write on. Davia
I like this book, it was a good read. It just seemed to go a little to fast. It was action, action, action there just seemed to be any down time. It was a great book.
I like this series, but I think this book is my least favorite. It was interesting how Chase was supposedly so in love with Jazzie in the last book, but immediately fell for Jenny in this one.
I didn't like Jenny through most of the book. Chase and Jenny had chemistry, but she just wasn't likeable. She seemed pretty childish to be a doctor.
I think I would have enjoyed this more if less time was spent on Jenny reacting to what she thought she knew about Chase, and more time spent on the oil rig issue. I admit that I skimmed some of this book because it was just plain boring. I read the previous 6 books and didn't encounter that problem. Maybe we can get back to the cowboys again. I think 3 of the characters made career changes before the book was done, and one changed over to ranching.
More of Chase and Jenny's family were introduced. You still got a global kids mode of the earlier characters in the series. I liked Chase's brother, Joel. I would be interested in his story.
Another great read from Becky. I didn’t like Chase much In the previous books and it was slow in coming in this one too but Jenny wasn’t a favourite either to me the two were matched to each other, they grew slowly on me and although it’s still a great read they both are liked now just listen chase is always just friends with women they are just liked with me and sometimes that’s all that’s needed in a story. I loved the antics of them and what happened between them and the laughs you get in the book, I absolutely loved Papa Jack and Curly Rhodes Chase's meddlesome mother. Can’t wait to read more from this series
Liked the book and the series but I wish we saw more of the characters relationship together. I feel the end was rushed. We didn't get to see his proposal or the pregnancy. I missed the development of their relationship once they said I love yous. I will continue the series.
Awesome well written book that takes you on awesome journey each page having you want more. The characters are awesome with emotions that pull you in. A great read that is very enjoyable. Donna Michaels is a great Author and each book she writes will take you on amazing journeys.
I am loving this series. They take the best view on troubled love. The characters are so true to life and make you feel like you know them. The adventure and humor keeps you interested the whole way through. Can't wait to read the next one. Finished this and the last one in one night, next one after I sleep some.
I couldnt wait to read Chase's story and wasn't disappointed... Chase is shot and rushed to hospital, when he wakes an angel is hovering over him.. Jenny is the doctor treating him and can't help smiling at this gorgeous man... But she has a hard time trusting men after the last one in her life, broke her heart... She thinks chase is a player, but she couldnt be more wrong!!!
I was so excited to read Chase’s book and it did not disappoint! I loved Jenny and Chase together, they had wicked chemistry and I loved how she didn’t back down.
