Amanda Hogan was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Originally majoring in Web Design, she then majored in Office Administration at Columbus State Community College. She didn’t realize she could write all the stories in her head until her senior year of high school and early years of college as she was taught to write correctly. She is also a fan of many TV shows, movies, books, writers, actors, athletes, and musicians, which have all inspired her stories. Amanda still lives in Columbus with her family and dog Callie.
Music and baseball are some of my favorite interests, so when an author combines them together, I'll most likely enjoy the book. That was the case with Double Play.
As a twenty-something myself, I could relate with the four main characters in the story. They were in the process of trying to figure just exactly who they are and what they want out of life. I'm currently doing just that. It's nice to read something that you can relate to and the topics in the book are something you really enjoy.
My one complaint about Double Play is that it felt kind of rushed to me. I like really in-depth books, so for a book to cover four years, less than 300 pages doesn't really cut it to me. I felt like I was skipping around to different events in their lives. Nonetheless, I did like the book.
It would help to be a baseball fan when this book, in order to understand the various players who are mentioned. (Shout out for mentioning local hero, Buster Posey, who's from a small town 30 minutes away from my town).
In short, this book was a quick and enjoyable read for me.
(I apologize for taking so long to write this review).
