The arc of Ci Xeneth continues in the sixth volume of this manga series. Illsaide’s dark secrets are revealed when Sharlen and Ishtar continue to meddle in them, resulting in monster mayhem. Ishtar reveals a secret of her own, when she comes face with Falan, while Illsaide finds it hard to conceal his true heart, considering the interest Falan, Duzell, and Sharlen are all taking in him. Vord’s arrival in Ci Xeneth, following after Ishtar, only complicates things more. Not to mention the curious hint of a bit of backstory between Phelios and Duzell, revealing the holy knight may have had very personal reasons for battling the vampire king.

Loaded with the usual gender bending confusion, set off balance by mythical monsters, this series continues to entertain. We get another glance at the main villain, Sharlen, plus the mystery involving Lord Jened and Illsaide deepens, even as it’s revealed. Readers meet the character of Falan, while Ishtar grows as a character, gaining another level through her interaction with both Falan and Duzell. She continues to show a more mature, responsible side by investigating why her uncle is gathering monsters. A side story gives Darres a lot of background, giving readers a glimpse of the warrior woman who raised him, hinting at a bit of f/f between that warrior and Ishtar’s mother, and beginning the relationship between Darres and Ishtar.

For keeping up a great story with characters which grown and change, all depicted through beautiful artwork, this gets five stars.

I am WAAAY farther ahead in this series than volume 5, but unfortunately I have been slacking on my reviews.
I love how the forbidden love is coming into play. It really spices things up and it's also very amusing comic relief. Swapping genders for both Ishtar and Duzell was absolutely hilarious, but if you look at it realistically it couldn't have been pulled off. The exact same face, the girl supposedly having no chest at all and the guy does? Yeah that wouldn't have worked, but eh, it's a manga and worked out well anyways.
I think my favorite part was just after Illsaide kissed Duzell and said "I'd give my life to protect you." And Duzell thought to himself: "Look, bub, I slaughtered half the free world. I really don't need you to protect me." I started laughing so hysterically my parents are probably concerned about me. XD
I'm a little concerned for the Princess Falan though. If it was that easy to trick her into thinking Duzell wasn't her cousin, you can wonder what else can be used against her.
Page 91 can also be shown for this. Ishtar's uncle contradicted Falan saying "I'll hear no more of this. You're the most beautiful girl in Pheliosta. That wretched Ishtar doesn't even begin to compare [btw there was a typo it said "copare"] I snorted just like Duzell since they have the same face. And yet Falan simply accepted it later on.
It's cute that we get to see a side of Duzell that is sympathetic (for Falan) and girly (blushies all around Illsaide). Otherwise he could be simply considered a cruel and heartless vampire King.
Lastly I want to say I very much enjoyed the back flash for Darres. I was wondering for a while about him, but now my perspective on him is almost complete. (Heh heh)

Continuation of the ci zenith story line. I'll admit this particular volume gets a little confusing - there are one to many shady characters in the background and not nearly enough Darres and Kywal Duzell. It does however introduce the lilke idea - ruelles (magical talismans) are created by trapping the souls of lilke (winged mermaids) - the art on this is gorgeous. I also love Ishtar's cousin Falan she's just so nice! We are treated to a tiny Darres story at the end and see how he became Ishtar's bodyguard - love it!!!

The series as a whole was good in the beginning. Very funny and intriguing. I love romances where the characters have loved each other forever but have never told each other or something like that. lol The series declines in quality, I think towards the end. There are too many characters in too many places and things get a little confusing.

It hurts my eyes to read online, but I can't help it. Duzell is too cute and I need more Darres in my life! <3
