This was okay but...I'm really fed up with multi partnered relationships. I don't buy that these three people will ever be able to maintain a relationship where they are sharing this supposedly submissive woman. Raine doesn't strike me as being truly submissive, she's too damaged and does not strike me as a woman willing to give up her power to any man, after the abuse heaped upon her by her father. And the manipulation by Liam with Raine was beyond low. I don't feel the love Liam claims to have for her at all. It seems that he just wants her because Hammer does. I have equal issues with Hammer and Raine as well which is why I really am not enjoying this series. I would like to see Shayla get back to writing her own books. The Menage and Doms series in which she co writes are all reading like the same book.

"No matter what you think, I've always wanted you, Raine. From the very minute I laid eyes on you. ~ Liam O'Neill

"I've tried to voice how I feel about you. I'm still not sure you actually understand how strong my feelings have become, but now isn't the time for talking. Open yourself to me and let me show you." ~ Liam O'Neill

"Everything that happened today tells me that you're right. I should have confessed my feelings a long time ago. I just let all the other fears and bullshit get in the way.
Fuck me." Hammer shook his head. "Now that I'm ready to say it, it's not the right time or place..." ~ Macen Hammerman

Soooooo....The Young and the Submissive is the second book in the One Dom to Love series. If you thought One Dom to Love was steamy, holy hell, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Let me give you a quick rundown of book one. Raine Kendall an abused runaway teenager was found beaten in an alley by Macen Hammerman, owner of BDSM club Shadows. He takes her in and takes care of her. Here's the thing, Raine falls in love with Hammer and he loves her back. Only he never lets his feelings for her out. Meet Liam O'Neill, Hammer's friend. Liam realizes Hammer is in love with Raine and plots to get them together. That plans backfires and Liam winds up falling in love with Raine himself. He collars her and his friendship with Hammer is in the toilet.

Fast forward to book two. You'll learn more about Raine, how she doesn't trust easily and she doesn't explain her feelings. Apparently, to be a good sub, we all know you need to give your trust entirely to your Dom. Well Raine doesn't and in a devastating move the first act of Liam in this book is to uncollar her.

If you know Raine, you know one of her greatest fears is people leaving her. She also hates to disappoint the ones she loves and feels like she's ruined everything. She doesn't have Hammer. She doesn't have Liam and the two of them are ready to kill each other.

Raine leaves Shadows. She takes what little she has and she bails. This of course sends Hammer and Liam into a complete frenzy. The two of them are so in love with her it's crazy. They go into freak out mode trying to find her. But, Raine is a smart girl. She doesn't want to be found and our two dueling alphas can't find her. During this time they go to Raine's childhood home and meet her disgusting piece of filth father. I wish our alphas did more, but let's just say, dad got his.

In an interesting turn of events, Raine finds a surprising ally in Beck. You remember him? Well he turns out he's really not the jackass that I thought he was in book one. He literally takes Raine under his wing and helps her. The best part?? He didn't try to take advantage of her and he didn't give her up to Hammer. He gives her a place to stay, feeds her, and gives her some pretty damn good advice. Part of this advice is a little unusual. He basically tells Raine she could probably have both men. Of course Raine thinks that's crazy and brushes the idea off. She believes she's genuinely in love with both men.

When Raine finally comes back to Shadows, she tells Hammer and Liam she wants to train as a sub, but she wants a domme. I was a little confused here but that's what she asks for. Hammer and Liam are basically appalled by this. So they send Raine off to bed and tell her they'll discuss this request in the morning. Then our boys seriously beat the crap out of each other. Really they do.

After a bottle of Patron, a knock down drag out fight and some strong words from Beck and also Liam's friend from New York Seth, Hammer and Liam come to a decision that well quite frankly blew me out of the water.

I'm going to stop here because YOU HAVE TO READ IT. Raine's training is beyond steamy and she is one lucky girl. Each page I read made my girly parts tingle more than the page before it. So there's Raines training and there's the very last page which is an "Oh damn." moment.

Two things. One is I CAN'T WAIT FOR BOOK THREE!! Next, I definitely flip flopped on which Dom I'd love more. Both Liam and Hammer are hot and fantastic lovers, but my choice from book one is definitely not my choice from book two. I think I'll tell everyone who I pick after book three.

A four lip smack review for The Young and the Submissive. If you enjoy BDSM and you haven't checked out this series now...one click away friends.

A great follow up to book one! The roller coaster of emotions Macen, Liam, and Raine all go through had me hooked from the first. I cried, laughed, and smiled as I became a voyeur on their continued journey, but the surprise ending, completely knocked my socks off. I can't wait for the next book now!

Holy crap! This book was so filled with drama! Every chapter had some new dramatic, angsty plot line going on. Jealousy, despair, hopelessness, anger, love. I almost couldn't keep track of it all.
"The image seared itself into her head and blew her away-between them she looked fairer, smaller. Them surrounding her, muscled, male, and determined. Possession stamped on their faces."

Raine

Macen

Liam
description

Macen and Liam, just like in the last book, did not have their acts together. Macen was struggling coming to terms with his emotions and giving Raine what she needed from him. Liam was eaten alive by jealousy over Raine's feelings for Macen, and feeling like and he wasn't enough for her. Raine was an emotional train wreck. You find out more about Raine's past in this book, , and come to understand why she's as broken as she is.

description

Macen and Liam come to understand Raine better by working together (finally!)and coming to terms with what they have to do to make Raine happy. Macen is still struggling with his past, but he's not letting it cripple his relationship with Raine as much. Liam is still amazing and caring to Raine, but he can't get past his jealousy of Raine's feelings for Macen, and doubting her feelings for him as a result.
"Liam was all to aware that, though he learned something new about her everyday, it was never enough. Did Raine need him at all? Would she ever?"

description

There is some resolution between the three towards the end of the book, but then it ends on a total cliffhanger! Ugh. Still, a very entertaining, emotional roller coaster book.

Years ago when I discovered BDSM romance books, I read this series. Recently, I bought the audiobooks. Although I know the story, I’m still riveted by it. Wonderful characters (Seth and Beck are intriguing side characters too).
This will be audiobooks to return to, over and over again.

Very well narrated by Christian Fox!

"It might take both of you to reach her."

FINAL DECISION:  In this book, the two men competing for Raine's heart must put aside their differences to help her.  I enjoyed how these three characters are changing and growing (unevenly and painfully).  This book is only a part of Raine, Macen and Liam's journey and should be approached as such.

THE STORY: This book continues the story of Raine, Macen and Liam.  As the prior book ended, the two men were engaged in a competition to win the woman they both love.  In this book, Liam realizes that he is not making progress with Raine's submission.  As he learns more about her past, he recognizes that he alone will not be able to heal Raine.  When he and Macen put aside their differences to help Raine, Liam can't help but fear that he might help Raine, but lose her.

OPINION:  I really enjoyed this book because the menage that is developing is messy and filled with jealousy, anger, trust issues, lust and love.  These three people are constantly confronted with having to adjust their expectations and desires.  The relationship between Raine, Macen, and Liam is difficult and evolving.  For me, I understand why such a complex relationship cannot be resolved in one book.  I don't mind that the story of these three was divided into four books because I can see how the authors are developing this complex relationship.

In this book, the three main characters have to adjust their expectations.  The relationship changes from one of competition between the two men to them joining forces to help Raine.  This process is not easy for either of these dominant men and yet the book details how each struggles with Raine's desires.

These characters are beginning to reveal themselves to one another.  Secrets and pain are shared and thus the beginnings of what might be a strong stable relationship is being developed.

This serial series asks for a commitment from the reader to follow the journey through multiple books, but I am looking forward to seeing what comes next for these three.

WORTH MENTIONING:  This book has a menage m/m/f and also numerous and explicit sex and BDSM.

CONNECTED BOOKS:  THE YOUNG AND THE SUBMISSIVE is the second book in the Doms of Her Life series.  This is a serial and the books should be read together and in order.

STAR RATING:  I give this book 4.5 stars. This review was originally posted on Top10RomanceBooks.com

This is the second book in a contemporary BDSM menage romance and is best enjoyed when read in order.

Raine has spent six years in love with her dark knight, Macen "Master Hammer" Hammerman, ever since he took her in off the streets when she escaped her abusive father's attempted rape. Hammer may run a BDSM dungeon, but he'd never force a partner--and he's never wanted to abuse petite Raine. He's loved her, but fears his own dark desire might be too much for her. Plus, she's now connecting with his best friend and fellow Dom, Liam'O'Neill. Years ago Liam and Macen shared Macen's wife, Juliet. It seemed a perfect arrangement, but wasn't, and the men are gun-shy about sharing another sub.

Even if that's what Raine needs.

This book is all about working in the kinks, and part of that is Liam and Hammer learning how to share. Their bickering is freaking Raine out, even before they decide to try a menage. Liam has collared Raine, but she can't give her whole heart and submission to him, on account of having such a longing and respect for Macen. For my part, I was ready to kick Macen out of bed, empty chip bag or not. He's a mental whirlwind, and devious. In the previous book he did the unthinkable, tried to claim Raine after she accepted Liam as her Master--and his treachery isn't small, because he didn't protect Raine when she was truly vulnerable.

Liam's tender and loving, but he struggles with Raine's silence. She may not lie, but she sure doesn't tell the whole truth. His biggest gambit seems to all but fail, until some friends intervene. I really liked Beck, the dungeon's resident sadist, and how he was the right kind of tough to get Raine back on track. These guys are a little bit silly, to me. They practice D/s but they aren't hard 24/7 which was a relief. Liam and Hammer get on board with Beck's plan to work together, and that's the best part of the book--also the end, mostly. Expect a sated sub, two frazzled Doms and a smart aleck surgeon to save the day. While it's the end of the book, it's just the beginning of their new menage. I found this one to be both more sexy and more romantic than the first book.

**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**

There is so much going on in this book. It picks up right where One Dom to Love leaves us. Hammer (Macen) and his non ability to tell Raine how he feels about her, Liam collaring and training Raine, and Raine being in love with both men. There is so many emotions associated with this trio with all their ups and downs. They are all fighting for the same goal, but can they trust enough to do get there together? Just when you think they have it all figured out, nope jealousy rears it's ugly head. Can a HEA actually work for them?

I wonder what lies next for the trio, it can only get better right?

While Liam and Macen are running lead in this book, I really feel the need to learn more about Beck and Seth. I love the sensitive soft side mixed with the sexy sadist in Beck that we got to see more of in this book. Seth always seems to be the controlled understanding one, I would love to see him break out of that!

This book picks up right after the end of One Dom to Love. Raine still has her walls up; she is in love with both Liam and Hammer and doesn’t know what to do. Liam and Hammer are still at each other’s throats and both are in love with her. There is a lot of bickering, arguing, lack of trust and of course hot steamy sex! We find out more about Hammer and why he is the way he is. We see more of Beck, who I love and hope he gets his own book. Just when things FINALLY seem to be ok and everyone is on the same page, a phone call happens…….
Characters: The characters were well written and believable.
Sex: holy hotness
Religious: no
Would I recommend to others: yes
More than one book in the series: yes
Genre: BDSM/Romance
Would I read more by this author: yes

I'm so glad that this book didn't keep going in the same vein as the first half. The first half basically had Hammer and Liam each grabbing Raine's arm, pulling her to them, all the while yelling "Mine", jerking Raine back and forth. It got old so fast. I didn't fault Raine for leaving, for thinking that was her only choice. While I didn't think running away was the answer, I did like the results of it.

For me the stars of the book were Beck and Seth. I loved how these 2 men were able to calm Raine, to help her realize what she really wants from her life. Even as she stumbles they are there to help clear things up. I also like how Beck and Seth also call Hammer and Liam out on their shit and made them work on issues from their past. Because as much as Raine needs to face her past, these 2 men do to, or they wouldn't get what they want in the end, Raine.

I like where Raine, Hammer, and Liam are at the end. I just worry about the phone call and how much it will derail things to come.

I loved this book - although I have a soft spot for Hammer, I'm glad things began to work out between them all.

I began the first book thinking this was going to be another series of different characters, but was soo pleased to see that their story had further to go. That you go to see much much more of them develop and grow.

I still think the initial scene when Raine propositions Hammer has got to be the best part of the books so far - hot, intense and sets up the rest of their story. I can't wait to read the next instalment and was very sad that it wasn't available the moment i finished #2. More books from Shayla Black for me.

This books picks up where the first one leaves off. Lots of angst, misunderstandings and insecurites abound in Liam, Riane and Hammer.

Raine loves both men but is fearful of what the future will bring. She tries to be a good sub, but can't help but tests Liam's control. Liam knows that Raine has feelings but Hammer, the prick who only wants her now that she has moved on.
Hammer needs Raine and blames Liam for stealing her from him.

The only way to make Raine happy and to keep her is for Liam and Hammer to work together, but only time will tell if they can put aside their insecurites to focus on the woman that holds their hearts.

OMG! Where do I begin? I loved Macen and Liam from the beginning and now Raine has worked her way into my heart. I have loved their journey to each other, laughing, crying, screaming and yelling right along with them.

Thank you ladies for another fantastic story!

Now I have two questions; when is the next one coming out and can I be in the middle of Seth and Beck? :)

Macen and Liam work really hard as Doms to get Raine to submit to them. This means they have to actually work together to give Raine what he wants and needs. Will they be able to do that ? Are they too stubborn to give ? Will Raine finally lower her walls that have protected her since childhood ? This book is a continuation of book one.

What happens when you put together three amazing authors of erotic romance - magic! That’s exactly what happened when Shayla Black, Jenna Jacob and Isabella LaPearl pooled their endless talents and began writing. The Young and the Submissive is the second book in their Doms of Her Life series. If you have not read One Dom to Love, the first in the series, then stop right here and go get it. The Young and the Submissive picks up right where One Dom to Love left us. Without having read the first book, you will lose out on important background information, and you will be very confused.

I found myself lost in the story ignoring everything that was happening around me. I was transported to a front-row seat in the drama. Liam, Macen and Raine are such well developed characters that it really felt like I was reading about real people.

I absolutely adored Raine, despite or maybe because of her struggles. Raine’s emotional journey toward love and acceptance brought me to my knees. Her feelings of being unworthy ripped my heart out. I struggled to hold back the tears anytime Raine was certain that no one loved her.

Macen “Hammer” was a fascinating character. He rescued Raine when she was a child and has spent the subsequent years caring for her. He knew her inside and out and used that knowledge to care and protect her. But he wasn’t perfect and that is what drew me to him. He loved Raine and wanted only the best for her, which he was convinced wasn’t him. But he loved her so much that he had a difficult time walking away from her.

Liam was about as perfect as a man can be. He adored and loved Raine and just wanted to make her happy. He sensed the pain and sorrow that was keeping her from committing to him completely, but he wasn’t willing to just give up. Liam was willing to do anything for Raine, including sharing her with Macen.

The relationships between Raine and her men, either together or individually, were very realistic. Even the relationship between Liam and Macen was believable. After all, it would make complete sense that two men in love with the same woman would have moments when anger and jealousy would rear its ugly head. I even loved the secondary characters Beck and Seth who helped the triad through their problems. In fact, I would love it if the authors created another series featuring this two sexy Doms.

One of my favorite parts of The Young and the Submissive was the dialogue. Too often, dialogue in books is stunted and awkward and you can’t imagine people actually talking like that. In The Young and the Submissive, the dialogue flowed so naturally that I could hear the characters in my head actually speaking the words. And while hearing voices in my head may concern you, for me it’s a good thing because it only happens when I’m reading a really good book – which this one is.

Just when you think this triad has reached their happy ending, the authors throw a twist at you ending The Young and the Submissive with a cliffhanger. I don’t usually like a cliffhanger, but at least it means I’m guaranteed more fantastic writing. Now we will have to wait for book three. I can promise you that I’ll be counting down the days!

This is the second book in this trilogy it picks up right where book one left off. Raine is with Liam she is his collared submissive but part of her is still in love with Macen it prevents her from acting the way she should. She keeps things from Liam and distracts him when he asks something she doesn’t want to talk about. It is the week of Thanksgiving and she still hasn’t gotten her period she could be pregnant with Macen’s baby while collared to Liam. What a mess that would be. She and Macen aren’t supposed to talk unless it’s about work. Things between her and Liam are strained she sometimes doesn’t even think about the things she does and how they will affect him or make him feel. Things get bad on Thanksgiving and the next day Liam lets her know that he is uncollaring her but with still be there for her. He wants to give her time to decide what she wants. She takes this to mean that he doesn’t want her anymore and that she isn’t worth the fight. So she does what she always thinks she should do which is leave. Liam and Macen go out of their mind when they can’t find her. She leaves her car and turns off her phone. She checks into a cheap motel and goes for a walk. She winds up going to Beck’s office in the hospital for advice. Her takes her to his place and helps her work through some things. He calls the guys to tell she is with them and he is helping her. Once she is ready he takes her home to the guys and she has some things to tell them. She wants to try a Domme. This in one thing the guys weren’t expecting and neither of them like it one bit. What will they come up with now? Beck and Seth let them know that she wants them both and that is best for her. Will they be able to share her? Will they be able to work together to help her and give her what she needs?
This series is great. In this book Raine really starts to come into herself. She realizes that in order to get what she wants she has to let them in. That is may not be as bad as she thinks. She doesn’t believe that it will be easy for her or for them but she doesn’t want to come between them anymore. This maybe be the best for everyone involved. Macen has been keeping things in since his wife died all those years ago. This may help him get them off his chest and finally get over her death. Liam learns things he never that had happened while they shared Macen’s late wife while she was alive and lead to her suicide. Beck and Seth, Liam’s friend are there for her. They are her sounding board. She can talk about how she feels about her sessions with the guys and what revelations if any she has through those sessions. They all learn things in this book about each other and their selves. Not everything is easily processed. Some things that are revealed are hard to digest and take some time to process. They even cause some disagreements. Will they all be able to continue or will it all blow up in their faces. I can’t wait to read the third book in this series.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

The second in the series, and having just finished it I am desperate to get my hands on book three! I think that the story is strong, the lead characters are hot, flawed, fascinating and ... getting there, finally. This book is better than the last, as all three of them admit or recognise what they want, what they might achieve, and what that means for each other. The two foils, Seth and Beck are a brilliant plot device, as they can fill in so many blanks - I loved them and their role in the story.

I do hope that this trio of writers is busy penning the next book, as I need to know what happens next! And that they plan on collaborating again, as this series is a rich mix of their talents.

The Young and the Submissive is book #2 in The Doms of her Life series. The authors, Shayla Black, Jenna Jacob and Isabella LaPearl have once again done an excellent job combining their talents and imaginations to present a blockbuster story to their readers. The book is well-written with compelling and soul-searching emotional scenes with the three main characters, Doms Hammer and Liam and the submissive Raine. It was gut-wrenching reading about Raine's abuse at her father's hands. The efforts Hammer and Liam make to break through Raine's well-built-up walls makes for a profoundly emotional story, one I didn't want to put down.

There's lots of ups and downs in this story for all three characters. But their love for each other shines through in the end. You will be glad you picked up this book and followed along.

Picking up from book 1 well were filled with another book of so much drama it was never ending.

Raine didnt feel like she could open up and be honest, as a submissive she couldn't give her whole self or her trust over to her Dom Liam.

I didnt find her to be a good submissive she seriously tried to top from the bottom in every scene and Liam was a weak Dom.

Then we add the third Dom Hammer and now they want to share her as she's not complete without them both, yet they dispise the love the other has for her.

Its more high school drama every chapter we read

I enjoyed the first book...and this one picks up right were the first left off. But I didn't connect this time.

I liked Liam for Rain. I would have been happy if she had ended up with just Liam.

This time around, the focus was on fixing Rain. What that girl needed was a shrink, not 2 jealous doms...who both wanted her for themselves.

This is not how I like my poly books. If your going to be a triad relationship, you should all love each other. I prefer it with a little m/m action, but it's not required for me. Liam and Hammer's relationship was strained. They need to fix that first, before trying to become a triad.

Fix your friendship, get Rain some professional help...and THEN go from there.

I quite enjoyed The Young & The Submissive, I think a bit more than One Dom to Love. The outstanding moments in this second book were hands down the moments Hammer and Liam were able to put aside their differences for Raine. At the end of the day, her safety, her happiness, is what matters. Not their egos, not their pride. It’s what will make her happy, what will make everyone happy and safe. It took some time to get there, and there are no illusions that this will remain this way, but eventually they found a place where they could all coexist together, as a team, as one solid trio.

This book seemed to lose traction for me - oh, don't get me wrong; there's plenty of hot, steamy action - but the plot just lost some of the impetus. This book continues where the first one One Dom to Love (and isn't it clever that all the titles are plays on soap operas? Even the title of the series? Yeah, me too) left off. Raine and Macen and Liam are trying to work out their relationship. Well, who couldn't see this one from a mile off? They eventually decide that maybe they could do this as a menage. There was so much angst in this and I think it detracted from the overall story. At least the action was smoking hot.

I waited for this book to come out and was so excited when it did. I sat and read the thing in a matter of hours. I have to say I hate Raine, I really hate her and I wish they both had dumped her. She was barely likeable in the first one but this one there's no redeeming qualities to her at all. I just felt very sick thru much of it and the ending was totally unsatisfying. I wish Liam would have let Macen have her and went to find someone worthy of him. Macen and Raine are both horrible people who deserve each other. I totally called the ending tho.....yuck. They should have made her choose, maybe I'm just tired of books like these in general.

Outstanding! This second book, The Young and the Submissive, is devoted to working on being open, honest and communicating with words. The detailed writing of the scenes are so well constructed that I felt like a voyeur. The build-up and tearing down of emotional walls...redirecting negative beliefs into beautiful truths was done without negative thought.

I loved how Raine's fears and desires were addressed without demoralizing her. Hammer and Liam had to work on some differences and their struggles seemed real...honest. And let's not forget that yes although there's a cliffhanger, book 3 The Bold and the Dominant is waiting to be read!
