Reclusive entrepreneur Ryan Langford may be missing his own fundraiser, but being marooned in a cabin with Kayla beats ducking a room full of people after his money any day. Too bad she's so irritated with the gazillionaire who ruined her New Year's Eve that he feels like he has to lie about his identity. Melting the Millionaire's Heart is a snowed in romance (a trope I love), so even the fact that it took place around New Year's Eve (the holiday I dislike the most) didn't discourage or prejudice me against reading it, and what a good thing this was, because I loved it!

Melting the Millionaire's Heart is a pretty short novella with just 94 pages, so it's a good thing we dive right in the story with the hero and heroine meeting right at the beginning when Kayla, our heroine who is on the road to a work event gets in an accident and (unbeknownst to her) hitches a ride with the hero.

Despite its shortness Melting the Millionaire's Heart left me pretty satisfied: the hero and heroine talked for hours and got to know each other first before acting on their sizzling attraction and spending a passionate and fun New Year's Eve together. I say fun, because beside the crackling sparks they still managed to chuckle and laugh and just enjoy each other's company and have fun. It was fantastic to see them being so relaxed and playful. (Don't get me wrong, the love scene is really sexy, Linda Morris sure knows how to pack some heat).

I liked both the hero and the heroine, they were lovable and warm-hearted characters and together they had serious chemistry:

"In the work room, she closed the door and turned to face him. Before she could say a thing, he kissed her, pressing her against the door with his long, hard body. Just like that. With no preliminaries, no apologies, no questions. His daring worked. She closed her eyes and let him do it until finally she caught herself and pushed him away. Explosive chemistry, they had in spades. Their problem was a lack of trust, and they hadn’t mended that fence yet. He stepped back, his lips shining from her moisture, gazing at her as if she was the most beloved sight in the world. Her heart turned over."

I loved how this story had so many voices: it was romantic, passionate, moving and even funny:

"All practical thoughts flew from her head as the car spun. With a sickening squeal, the wheels left the pavement. For a few horrifying seconds, her world listed crazily as the car dipped to one side. Oh, God, she was going to die! And she’d never even gone skydiving or read Ulysses, or any of those other dumb things people always put on their bucket lists."

There were just two minor things I was grumbling about:

- I get that it was for plot reasons but texting while driving angers me so much. It drives me crazy seeing how stupid and irresponsible people are to do it.

- Carolyn, who was the heroine's stereotypical cheery airhead bubbly bff, was a bit too over the top.

Verdict: Melting the Millionaire's Heart was a great story I enjoyed a lot. Linda Morris has a delightful writing voice and I can't wait to read more stories from her! If you'd like to read a short but sexy and fun story you won't go wrong with Melting the Millionaire's Heart!

MELTING THE MILLIONAIRE’S HEART was a great little novel—sweet, funny and with just the right amount of spice for this heartwarming story. Author Linda Morris masterfully weaves together the story of Special Ed teacher Kayla and wealthy entrepreneur Ryan and their problems with trust and honesty on the path to love. Stranded together over a snowy New Years Eve, both characters reach out to one another in what they believe will be one night of passion. But their passionate tryst turns into a craving for more. I won’t give away any more details, but if you’re looking for a light, quick, satisfying read, MELTING THE MILLIONAIRE’S HEART by Linda Morris is your book!

My full review, including quotes, can be found on the fictionators.

This is a short read and a perfect way to spend a couple of hours. Kayla, a teacher at a private school that specializes in kids with special needs, is on her way to a fundraising event when she crashes her car into a ditch in the middle of a snowstorm. She gets out and starts walking toward her destination when Ryan Langford pulls up to her rescue. He brings her back to his parents' house and ...well, you know what happens. After all, this is a hot couple all alone in the middle of a blizzard.

Before they met, Kayla had a preconception of the type of man Ryan would be, pretentious and only looking for PR. Add to that the fact that she was recently burned by her ex, and her hesitance to trust anyone is totally expected. Ryan believed that any woman he would meet would be after his money, and after finding out that Kayla was en route to his house to help secure funding for her school, he decides not to tell her who he is. Throughout the course of the night, they share stories, roast hotdogs and s'mores by the fire, and fall into each other's arms.

Despite this story being predictable, and don't get me wrong--I wanted it to pan out the way it did--I love how authentic the characters felt. I connected with both of them and understood why each of them felt the way that they did. Their lack of communication about wanting more made sense to me, and I loved their story.

So what didn't I love? I had a hard time getting over the fact that Kayla, an apparently intelligent teacher, would rather venture out in the middle of a storm wearing a tiny skirt and fuck-me-boots than ask her friend to come and get her when she drives her car into a ditch. I realize that that the story couldn't have happened without him coming across her all alone in the woods, but I just couldn't get over that. Though the ending was hopeful, it felt rushed, and I would have wanted a little more about their future. There were a couple of cringe-worthy moments (like weiner), and I hated that they called it "making love"--I know, I'm ridiculous. I just think if you're going to hook up with a stranger you just met, call it what it is.

Melting the Millionaire's Heart was a quick, fun read, and I think you'll like it, too.

I have been reading a lot of adult contemporary romance lately and been loving it. This book was no exception. It was fun, sexy, heartbreaking at times, and left a smile on my face! This was a pretty short book, but packed quite a bit of punch. I was wrapped up in the story almost from the very beginning and the characters were fantastic and commanded my love and attention. Even being a short story, it was able to pull my emotions right out of me!

Kayla was a fun character. She is still very bitter over her ex, and she is dreading the New Years Eve party she is forced to go to in order to try to get a donation from some rich jerk as she sees it. She ends up going off the road (totally her fault for not paying attention, especially during a snowstorm) and gets picked up by none other than Ryan Langston. She doesn't know it's him though. She decides to go against her normal behavior and give into a one night stand with this sexy stranger. She is very open and honest with him and isn't afraid of what might happen. If only she knew who he really was.

Ryan was awesome!! He is really smart and caring. He wants to make sure that he donates money to good causes, he isn't just selfish with his money or some jerk who throws it around like nothing. That is why he lies to Kayla in the first place, he doesn't want to be judged for his money. He knows he should tell her the truth, but she makes it very clear what she thinks of "guys like Ryan" and he figures they will have their one snowed in night and that will be it. He never expects to actually start to care for her in their evening of just living in the moment.

This was a great romance with a fantastic plot to go along with it. The characters were amazing and the chemistry they have is sizzling. I became invested in both of them almost right away and as things progress, and then get a bit intense, I could feel my heart constricting. I knew that the lie would come out, and I knew how things would go down, but it still made my me ache a little when it did. This book had a lot of really fun moments, then some great sexy scenes, and of course a sweet romance! This is great book for those looking for a good romance with a little bit of steam that also has a good story that you can get lost in.

Melting the Millionaire's Heart is such a sweet, cute story and a perfect quick-read. It is an endearing story of finding love in the most unexpected places. I honestly had a hard time rating this one because I liked it so much but I would have liked more of it. In the end, it was definitely a 3.5-4 star read for me.

Kayla Johnston is a special education teacher at a school that caters solely to kids with special needs. Her school is looking to receive donations and has set up a New Year's Eve party with a potential millionaire donor. While on her way to the party, Kayla has a wreck and gets stranded. Luckily, a car comes along carrying a very good looking guy looking to help her. Unbeknownst to Kayla, the driver is the millionaire donor, Ryan Langford. With the horrible weather, they are forced to spend the night together.

“Explosive chemistry, they had in spades.”

There was an instant attraction between Kayla and Ryan that they could not ignore. However, both Kayla and Ryan go into this night with preconceived notions that effect the information that they divulge.

“Honesty is important in a relationship. I've learned that the hard way.”

Both Kayla and Ryan were very likable characters. They were two people not looking for anything even resembling love but fate threw them together, making them question what they really wanted.

“He'd made a million dollars, but he couldn't convince one woman to give him another chance.”

Melting the Millionaire's Heart was very refreshing but still had enough turmoil to make it interesting and move along smoothly. I did think the dialogue during intimate moments was a little over the top for two people that just met and “didn't do these types of things.” But, overall, I think that the instant attraction was portrayed very well and was definitely believable. This was a very short read and while I would have so badly liked it to have continued, the ending was very satisfying. I would definitely recommend this book, especially if your looking for something pretty light and quick.

In the last couple of years, I’ve discovered that Linda Morris is an author who can be counted on for an incredibly fantastic read! She certainly didn’t disappoint with Melting a Millionaire’s Heart. I read this smokin’ hot story front to back in just one setting!

Forced to drive through a fierce winter storm, Kayla Johnston careens into a ditch. Not only is her car damaged, she’s stuck in the middle of nowhere, dressed in boots that sure weren’t “made for walking”. Now, she’ll never make it to the fundraising event in time to help her students with special needs. Ryan Langford, the millionaire anthropologist Kayla has been hoping to receive a financial donation from, happens to be the first person to find her. Except he doesn’t tell her who he is, mostly because he’s tired of women looking at him with dollar signs in their eyes. Befriending her quickly, he convinces her to stay with him at his parents’ temporarily unoccupied house during the storm’s duration. Once she has unthawed inside the cozy retreat, Kayla realizes that her growing attraction to Ryan, totally reciprocated on his end, is beginning to blaze hotter than the toasty fireplace they’re warming up in front of. And there’s only one way to handle the heat! Sometimes you just have to fight fire with fire!

If you love sexy stories with up and down moments between the characters, balanced by wit, humor, steamy ooh-la-la, and some perfectly sweet–but not-too-sweet–moments, I know you’ll love Melting the Millionaire’s Heart as much as I did!

In today's day and age of rampant cynicism, Linda Morris gives us a heartwarming romance that reminds us of the value of selflessness. Kayla Johnston, a teacher of special needs children doesn't want to attend a reception on New Year's Eve to wine and dine an industrialist who is interested in making a large donation to her school. A handsome stranger rescues her when she gets stranded in the snow on the way to the reception. Sparks fly and Kayla and RJ spend a passion filled night bringing in the new year.

Complications arise when RJ reveals his true identity to Kayla the next morning. Can RJ overcome Kayla's broken trust in him. Can Kayla find it in her heart to understand the motivation behind RJ's secret and forgive him? There's only one way to find out. This is a fast-paced, humorous, sweet read with with an important reminder that people with special needs are just that - special. Treat yourself to Linda Morris' latest work. Just be sure to keep from texting and driving!

I found Melting the Millionaire's Heart to be a quick easy and fun read. I liked Kayla and Ryan from the start of the book and I'm a sucker for snowbound romance so Ms. Morris had me from the start. It's short and easy to read, but not short on content. Kayla and Ryan's relationship develops enough for my taste during the book. I was comfortable with how things happen and boy did they heat things up. There is a conflict that has to be resolved that felt real and I like how it resolves in the end.

With great characters that feel like real people you can relate to and romance that makes the Valentine season heat up Melting the Millionaire's Heart is the perfect book to warm you up on these waning cold winter nights. I think it also renews your hope in true love which is what I love about romance books.

My Rating: 4.5/5.0

For some reason I was irritated when I first started reading this book. I don't know whether it was that Ryan was lying about who he was - or at the very least omitting information, or that Kayla was being so cavalier about a possible one-night stand. However, I did warm up to the book, or really novella, as it is only 92 pages long.

Ryan admits who he is the next morning, and as can be expected, Kayla is furious. She is fearful that she has blown any chance for her school to receive the funds needed and that if her boss finds out she will be in bigger trouble.

I read this book in one sitting and found it mildly entertaining. It was predictable, but sometimes you need to read a book like that - especially if the rest of your world is in the midst of turmoil!

I love Entangled publishing and have been reading everything that I can get my hands on, so when they approached us about taking part in the Blog Tour for Melting the Millionaire's Heart , I was all over it.

Throughout the course of the night, they share stories, roast hotdogs and s'mores by the fire, and fall into each other's arms.

"The power went out."

She looked around. The floor lamp had gone dark, and the house was utterly silent except for the crackling fire. no hum of a refrigerator or furnace. "So? We don't need lights."

Despite this story being predictable, and don't get me wrong--I wanted it to pan out the way it did--I love how authentic the characters felt. I connected with both of them and understood why each of them felt the way that they did. Their lack of communication about wanting more made sense to me, and I loved their story.

She couldn't regret a thing, except that she'd promised to make this a one night only affair. The more she had of him, the more she wanted. The more he showed her of himself, the more she liked him. Problem was, she was only six months out of a relationship that had wrecked her heart, and she'd told RJ she only wanted one night. Who knew if he would ever want to see her again?

So what didn't I love? I had a hard time getting over the fact that Kayla, an apparently intelligent teacher, would rather venture out in the middle of a storm wearing a tiny skirt and fuck-me-boots than ask her friend to come and get her when she drives her car into a ditch. I realize that that the story couldn't have happened without him coming across her all alone in the woods, but I just couldn't get over that. Though the ending was hopeful, it felt rushed, and I would have wanted a little more about their future.

Melting the Millionaire's Heart was a quick, fun read.

This post can also be found on my blog.

One of my favorite tropes – rich guy hide his true identity to be liked for who he is and not how much money he has.

Kayla Johnston is a teacher at Horizons, a private school for special needs children. Like most private schools, there’s a need for generous donations to help pay for extra staff, equipment and general services. By decree of her boss who wants to lighten the pockets of wealthy businessman, Ryan Langford, the entire staff of Horizons is expected to be at the fundraiser. That is how Kayla finds herself on her way to the Langford Estate on New year’s Eve in the middle of a snowstorm. A moment’s distraction is all it takes for her car to spin out and end up in a ditch. It must be her lucky night because no sooner is she ruing her decision to walk the rest of the distance to the estate, a car pulls up and the handsome driver offers her a ride to his parent’s nearby house, since the road to the estate is impassable.

Ryan Langford is used to people schmoozing up to him for money. When he finds out that his beautiful passenger is a teacher at Horizons his guard goes up. As he listens to Kayla voice her displeasure of the fundraising event and of the wealthy philanthropist at the center of it, he’s instantly intrigued. Not wanting to break the spell too quickly, he decides it’s best if he introduces himself under a different name, so Ryan becomes RJ. As they get to know one another, their initial attraction flares red hot. He’s single, she’s single, they both want each other, so why not enter into a one night, no stings attached indulgence? After their night together, he knows he needs to come clean about his true identity, and he hopes she can forgive his deception.

I enjoyed the story up until the point their night together ended. No woman likes to be lied to, however I don’t think that engaging in a one night stand with a complete stranger should come with the stipulation of complete honesty about names and professions. It’s not like he had an underhanded motive to deceive her. In her mind, Ryan was no better than her sneaky, lying bast*rd of an ex-fiance. For a smart woman, that was a really lousy comparison. Her stubbornness to not listen to Ryan, to not accept his apology and even to go so far as to question the truthfulness of his revelation about having an autistic brother made her very unlikeable very quickly. After one night with Kayla, I couldn’t fathom why Ryan would consider groveling at her feet.

The beginning felt a little rushed because technically, they met in the early evening which only gave them a few hours before ending up on the floor, and the next morning they parted ways. The middle and ending dragged a little too long with Kayla’s refusal to speak to Ryan. Not a bad read, but needed more in the chemistry department. Since this was my first book by this author, I would probably do better with one of her other stories.

Kayla is far from thrilled to have to go to yet another party to fundraise for her school. She’d much rather leave that to the public relations department and the school administrator, but no, she has be summoned.

While on route – during snowstorm; Kayla ends up in the ditch. She decides to walk the remaining distance to the estate where the party is being held. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know she’s walking entirely the wrong direction!

Kayla is rescued by a sexy, handsome stranger who offers her not only a ride, but a place to stay until the storm passes! Lucky for her, he lives nearby. Ryan is running late for an event he’s hosting when he stumbles on Kayla. He can’t leave her on the side of the road, so he brings her back to his parents home.

Ryan decides to keep who he really is to himself; using a different name he lets Kayla believe he’s just a regular guy. But unfortunately for Ryan – it’s about to backfire on him. Kayla flips out and wants nothing to do with him.

Would I recommend this book? This was a really cute, quick read. Kayla and Ryan have to work through his lies, and her mistrust issues. I liked Kayla, she was funny, smart and kept Ryan on his toes. Ryan wants to be liked for him, not for his money or what he can do for people. He really wants Kayla to see him that way. I enjoyed the story! Would I read more by the author? Yes.

Special-Needs teacher Kayla Johnston had a number of reasons she didn’t want to attend the New Year’s Eve benefit hosted by entrepreneur Ryan Langford, most certainly she hadn’t added a snowstorm and car wreck to her list. Rescued by a stranger, Kayla doesn’t know if the night will get better or worse especially when she realizes the attraction she feels is mutual.

Ryan is used to being used by people who think they can gain access to his money. When he helps Kayla he doesn’t know if she is another person who is looking for a hand out or if she maybe different from all the rest, he isn’t forthcoming with who he is. After an explosive night he knows he needs to come clean, but will Kayla be willing to forgive him for his little white lie.

For the character

The chemistry between character is very good.

RY is so nice. He is caring & romantic type of hero .
The way he took care of Kayla is very sweet .
His way to talk about his family is very nice.
And I can even picture how lovely family he has.

Kayla Something about her make me feel bad
I don't like the way she talked about him (when she didn't know his true identity)
I don't even understand how she could judge him when she's not even know him.
But if not mention that , Kayla is very charming and loveable.

when they pair up , they matched : ) and make the very sweet atmosphere

For the story
the story is sweet , lovely and even humorous
I found this books is cracked me up in some entertaining dialogue

recommend for quick reading : )

This is a cute fun story you don't want to miss. When wealthy entrepreneur Ryan Langford sets up a party on New Year's Eve that she is required to attend on behalf of the special ed school she works at Kayla Johnston gives up thinking that the coming year will start off any differently then the last one ends - romantically speaking. Fighting a snowstorm trying to get to the party is the last thing she wants to be doing. Then she's rescued by a handsome stranger after she ends up in a ditch. When she finds herself snowbound in a cabin with the same stranger, things start looking up for the coming year. That is until she finds out who her rescuer really is!!
