This is why I avoid free books!! They either turn out to be poorly edited, the plot is insanely ridiculous and the story becomes a soirée for Mary Sues and Gary Lues!
Heir Untamed is a tale of Cinderella meeting Prince Charming. Except there are two princes and Cinderella deserves to stay in her rags.
The writing was decent, some scenes had descriptions that gave me goose bumps. Sadly, that is how far the apple is going to fall from the tree :'(
The story itself was a reminiscence to every fan fiction I've read. That's disappointing because the premise was interesting with a promise of a shocking twist. All this is futile because of a stupid love triangle! Now I love a good romance but for a story to work, we need a balance between relationship building and actual story telling. Heir Untamed was very romance orientated, there wasn't even a build up! It felt more like: Guy1 and Girl scene proceed, then all of a sudden Guy2 please make your way to this scene and wait for girl to come -now all we need to do is follow this pattern ad infintum.
I loathed every second with Chey - which is the equivalent of the entire book. Chey is someone who gets on my nerves and burns them! The girl was facing destitution and was lucky to be saved by a Royal family: because apparently her photographs of sunsets were good. Now I don't know what goes on, in the minds of royalties, but shouldn't rich people like them choose a photographer who is famous? Have legitimate records and a well developed professional career? No because if that happens, our Cinderella wouldn't be a Cinderella -yeah yeah the girl needs to be poor to continue the story (My thoughts? This is idiotic and senseless!). Back to what I wanted to say: Chey should've been grateful to the Royals, but no! She just had to quarrel with the captain of the guards, had to act like everything is about her and not show an ounce of gratefulness by saying a thank you or shut her whiny mouth up!!! I find it baffling to see two hot guys giving Chey the googoo eyes upon first meeting.
Well there you have it. A brief rant of mine and overall I don't think I'll be going back to the land of Latvala again.

In so many ways this was a typical romance. A couple of times, mainly in the beginning I found myself thinking, "Yeah right, what woman would be THAT trusting to strangers knocking on her door?" But, I kept on trucking and before I knew it I was pulled in. What makes me give this book four stars is it literally surprised me. SOMETHING I NEVER SAW COMING. The twist was amazingly thought out and I didnt, nope, didnt see it coming. It is a series and I have yet to read the second. BUT, I do recommend this book for those who enjoy romance.

Ok, this book is very simple yet it has a certain charm in it, that I enjoy reading. But this is too good to be true (well it is fiction)
The love story is simple, witty and has a bit of spark or attitude in it. I've been looking for a chicklit or romance novel that's about a Royal family, ever since Prince William and Kate Middleton got married. And I have read "To Marry a Prince" and "Runaway Princess" both has disappointed me 'cause I've lost interest half way through the book but this didn't!
When I started reading the book I was curious and quite intrigued with the book's description/plot/summary(whatever you call it)
then meeting the royal family, Ahtissari... well hello Mattias and the other characters especially Sander
then someone's been messing w/ Chey
then half way through the book Chey (and of course I, the reader) found out that...
and a mixture of
This is for you, Chey
I knew then something suspenseful will happen!!
and at the end, all I could answer if I was Chey to the question "He" asked me was

There's a reason why most Harlequins romance are barely a quarter of an average book size. It make the process of reading vacuous Mary Sues tolerable. In this case, we have a white blonde female character who is on the verge of poverty suddenly receive a monetary rewarding offer to shoot pictures for a royal family at the far side of the Atlantic for four months. Once there, she was swept by the landscape and scenery, encountered miserable royal family and at the attention of two male handsome smouldering admirers and also she collect enemies along the way.
I am not sure why I kept reading this book, probably due to my stubborn curiosity and wondering how the story goes from the weird unsynchronized dialogues to the excessive victimization of the female character. I do find its fascinating how a royal family could only afford one photographer for the entire duration instead of a team of photographer for half the price and time and how one have to go to America for a photographer. I tried to shut my basic logical deductions and try to barrage myself through the highs and lows of being Chey Sinclair where she meet boys, fall in love and have some girls having unnatural instant hatred towards her (its either that or unnatural instant friendship, what is wrong with having a realistic female character in this genre?).
I find that if the story was shortened to a basic plot about someone falling in love and some conflict, it would have work instead of a very lengthy book with uneven pacing and awkward dialogues with multiple moments of redundancies. Then I found out that the book is a trilogy of the same diary of a Mary Sue story and I just give up. There's not enough plot or intrigue for the series to go on unless you're a die hard fan of the author and love Mary Sues main character and think every woman as scheming bitches who is out to kill you with their jealous glares. I, however, have a hard time to place myself as a Mary Sue considering I am not a white blond girl with no personality to begin with.
Last word on this book, you don't just interrupt a guy driving with a kiss. It sounded 'romantic' until you got yourself and the guy you're kissing killed.

I would've really liked this, but I hate the type of plot twist where the hero keeps pertinent and important information from the heroine. I actually knew about it going in, but he kept this secret from her way too long and never apologized.
Anyway, I wanted a book where the non-Royal heroine isn't treated like a commoner who is unworthy of knowing important facts and occurrences. Chey here is basically treated like a worthless commoner by everyone, including her supposed Prince. Next!

Well, this was quite a surprise for me!
i went in blind.
I usually don't venture in this kind of ordeal BUT...sometimes, I slip up LOL, I'm only human, after all. *wink*
Anyhow, I loved it.
Why?
Simple. It kept me on the edge of my seat at all times.
I was intrigued. I was immeresed. And I had the ultimate fun while reading it.
It's a Royal's drama.
It's angsty anticiaption filled with mystery and suspense with a hidden romance in the making.
I was written fluidly and clear and while I usually read fast, I practically devoured this.
And that speaks volumes.
The story begins with a classical equation:
Chey Sinclair is a an American photographer who's been living from one job to the other without firm income or security and she's been struggling too. So, when an opportunity literally knocks on her door with a job that is more than ideal, she jumps in, not ever expecting the immense impact of everything around her.
She's meeting the real Royal family of Lavala. The Ahtissari family
The King and The Queen and their 5 adult children, the heirs.
Her job is to make portraits of the family and the landscapes and her contract for doing so, is for 4 months, while she's living in the family castle. Chey slowly begins to see beyond the abundance and glitter of the whealth. Now, the family's secrets, agendas, greed and jealousy set their course involving Chey and putting her right in the middle of it.
Her attraction towards two men, only heightens the tension among the Royal memeber, especially cause the carefully vowen plans to marry of the elder sons doesn't really goes as planned.
Chey meets the handsome, alluring, tall, dark and charming, Prince Mattias, third in line to the throne and she's suddenly in the midst of dangerous games of push and pull, threats and danger.
While she's also falling for another man, a man that spikes all her carefully polished edges.
Sander Fisk, a 'head of the security', a man who's sweeping her of her feet, until she soon realizes that he's NOT the man who he said he was...at all.
And suddenly, everything changes.
All known to her turns into a cluster of such a turmoil and chaos...
And Chey is given a task - a decision to make...
Would she stay and finish the job that she was given and that she needs with the uncertainty of the possible affair with the heir - Sander Darrion Ahtissari. OR would she shelter her heart and avoid the further damage by leaving?

would have given it 4 stars but the only thing that keep me from giving it 5 stars was the fact that there will definitely be another book that continues this story. This story was very intriguing indeed and now I am anxiously waiting for the next book to come out. Danielle Bourdon did an excellent job on the character development and delivered a complex story line that will have you on batted breath until the end. This story is about a female photographer name Chey who recently loss both parents less than a year ago. She is struggling to pay her rent due to lack of work in her field. She received an eviction notice when out of the blue she was given a job offer base on her prior work that require her to travel to the country of Latvala for 4 months to take pictures of the royal family who lives there. There while working, she is fascinated with Mattias second in line to the throne. He has dark hair, devastatingly handsome and someone she knows is way out of her league. She also has a negative first meeting with another intriguing and fascinating man name Sander Fisk who is head of security at castle. Sander is a tall, blond haired beautifully blue eyed man. Sander is also arrogant, smart mouth and pain in Chey's butt at their first encounter but as she gets to know him sparks fly. She is confuse with her conflicting emotions for two men as she gets to know them both. She gets thrown in the middle of a potential assassination attempt and there is an unknown enemy who wants her gone from the castle. There is a unexpected twist in the middle of the story that you won't expect coming and it changes the dynamic of the relationships that she has built with both Mattias and Sander leaving her with a choice to make. Don't try to guess what the unexpected twist will be because I guarantee you won't and it the best moment of the story that makes the story well worth the read alone.

I'm really torn in my decision what to tell you about this book. t was like a gruesome accident: It is horrible but you cannot stop looking. This is what Chey's behavior did for me. From the very first meeting with Prince Mattias they had a special connection and even if it seems like he was in a relationship with Viia, she never stopped him when he flirted with her. Even after the night when someone came into her room, threatened her and hit her and told her to stay away from Mattias or else, you would think she got the message. But no - she went on a trip with him, let him buy her clothes and wine and dine her. Then there was the mysterious Sander, head of security. She started to see him to and even slept with him - and right after she stepped out of his bed she went to a formal dinner with Mattias. At first I didn't like Mattias because it seemed to me he just used Chey to get back to his parents but other motives were revealed later on.
I don't know what to make of this book. On the one hand there was this frustration because of Chey's behavior and some of her decisions but on the other hand I was plain curious what will happen next and if she stays or leaves. In the end my curiousity won and I downloaded the next book in the series.

Ridiculous, contrived and cliched. Couldn't get past the attack on Chey in her room. Initial set-up is thin, but Chey's life before this job apparently isn't important.
First big issue: Chey does NOTHING to ensure that this job offer is legit. Two strange men in sunglasses knock on her door, offer her an amazing amount of money, and she just says yes. It could be a scam for human trafficking, but she confirms nothing independently. Sorry, if I'm flying on someone's private jet, I'm going to make sure the people who are taking me on the jet are who they say they are.
Second big issue: Chey doesn't do any homework on her destination, so she doesn't even know where the US Embassy or Consulate is. This fictional country doesn't sound like a large one or a touristy one. So that information might be helpful in case she runs into trouble.
Third big issue: Oh, the cliches! Stop me if you've heard this one before. A woman and a man run into each other after sundown... in a dark forest... and she notices his AMAZING eye color. Pa-lease. This completely unrealistic observation is so old, it reeks of death and decay. PLEASE, authors, please stop doing this! You can't tell someone's eye color at night or across a football field or ballroom. Make your illustrations original. More unrealistic things include Chey taking pics of stained glass windows at midnight and marveling on the different angles of light. Uh, it's dark outside. How is light coming through the windows? If there's a legit explanation, then it should be included in the narration. Otherwise, it's just another contrivance that turns me off.
Last issue - the one that caused me to put this book down and say good riddance: Chey is shot at while out at the lake. She gets away with the help of the head of security. Then when she is attacked IN HER BEDROOM, she doesn't call security immediately and then LIES about it, saying she hit herself with a door. Sorry, personal safety is a deal-breaker. What was in that employment contract about personal safety? I'm breaching my contract if they can't ensure I'm safe from physical assault by members of the royal (or wannabe royal) family. And this is when the contact information for the US Embassy or Consulate would come in handy. She's told one of the royals that she has no one at home, no connections, essentially, NO ONE WHO WILL MISS HER if she goes missing.
Overall, there's just s0 much nonsense front-loaded in this novel that I can't even bring myself to skim the book so I can glean the pertinent plot points.

Not many books catch me by surprise, but this one did. I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I enjoyed the suspense, action, and romance, and the setting of the castle and details.
Chey arrived at her apartment to find a notice to evict if she couldn’t come up with her rent payment. She had been let go at her job, and was in search of another one. While she was scanning the internet for jobs, there was a knock on her door. She opens her door to find two guy’s in business suits. They offer her a job as being the photographer for the Royals of Latvala. They let her know if she accepts they will leave in 24 hours, and she will be expected to live in the castle with the family for the next four months.
Once she gets there, she is told a lot of rules at what she can, and can’t do, where she can go, and other places that are off limits to her. One of the rules is not to stare at any of the royal family. Mattias being the handsome guy he is makes that rule hard to stick too. There was an instant attraction between Chey and Mattias. This story has a lot of twist and turns, and suspense. the villain in this story took me by surprise. I was both happy and sad when the book revealed who was behind the attacks on Chey. I was happy the person was caught, but sad to find out who it was. I hope I didn’t give too much away. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!
Chey arrived at her apartment to find a notice to evict if she couldn’t come up with her rent payment. She had been let go at her job, and was in search of another one. While she was scanning the internet for jobs, there was a knock on her door. She opens her door to find two guy’s in business suits. They offer her a job as being the photographer for the Royals of Latvala. They let her know if she accepts they will leave in 24 hours, and she will be expected to live in the castle with the family for the next four months.
Once she gets there, she is told a lot of rules at what she can, and can’t do, where she can go, and other places that are off limits to her. One of the rules is not to stare at any of the royal family. Mattias being the handsome guy he is makes that rule hard to stick too. There was an instant attraction between Chey and Mattias. Warning... Very light romance!!
Photographer Chey, down on her luck due to a slow economy is hired to live with & photograph a royal family in some made up country. Things go bad & she winds up with the head of security...
This was a sweet quick read. Vey predictable, but that's the mood I was in! I needed this book to break up the slump I was in with the books I just finished reading. I was hooked, but the end killed! It left a whole lot unanswered... That point made it lose a star for me. At least it wasn't one of those books that they start a kiss & wake up together...
Many of the books I have read have been very intense & this was a no brainer read. Sometimes you need one of those & this was perfect... except for the missing chapters or epilogue at the end that left too much unanswered...

I can't help it, I really liked this story...enough that I went straight into the second and third books almost immediately. I'm glad I didn't read the other reviews, otherwise who Sander really was would not have caught me as off-guard! It's very, very romantic with the setting and the courting and the anticipation, but if you are hoping for some super hot sex scenes, you're not going to get them in this book. To me, this would almost be appropriate young adult reading because it's so PG-13. There's not even any "and then he reached for a condom" lines. However, if you are looking for a break from erotica and a trip to Fantasyland where normal girls are courted by royalty with a hateful royal family and tons of mystery and intrigue, this is a great series to get swept away by.

When i started this book i was expecting better but it didn’t meet my expectations and i was really disappointed i was counting on the next books to get better but when i looked this series up i saw that it was 11 books !!!
And i was disappointed again moreover l totally abandoned the idea of reading the rest of this series.
I really think that the author could have done a better job and that this series should have been a trilogy.

The very beginning was a little unconvicing for me. I mean, a royal family in Europe finds no better photographer than a girl all the way in America? That was pushing things a little far, for me.
Other than that, it had snobby royals (way too snobby, I didn't really like them), and crazy women. I did feel a bit blindsided by the blurb, but I understand it can't give the whole plot away, but still...

Finishing this month out with new authors to me and their works...so where do I start with this audiobook. I selected this book as part of a club challenge, however upon listening, I became a bit bored right away. I thought this story was a bit unrealistic and that is what really had me taking this time to listen to it. Although I finished the book, I am modestly giving it a 2.5 (rounded to 3) and that is only because I thought the narration was good but not great.
Danielle Bourdon is a new to me author, however I am not going to discredit other works as sometimes the first in a series sometimes doesn't always goes as plan. I would have preferred reading as this is a KU freebie vs. using a credit for the listen.

I'm a bit torn with this one. I really liked Chey, glad that this great job came up for her when it did, but man...these Royals are horrible! The King and Queen indifferent, the daughter, a harpy, the sons, mixed bag. What I don't get is who initiated wanting pictures at all, because it seems like none of them really do.
I had guess the one big surprise pretty early on, hated how things were revealed to Chey. Hated more how she was put in danger.
While I like Sander and Chey together, I don't know that I want Chey and Dare together, not sure Chey is up to that. We'll see where this goes because she decided to give things a try, even though they still have not gotten all the way to the bottom who tried to hurt her.

2.5 not bad, it's in the 'OK' category, the book was free and audio narration was .99 I felt like it was probably made better by the audiobook. It kinda ends abruptly and overall is an escapist fantasy. The sex was not descriptive not frequent so definitely not erotica. I saw someone say it was and I have to laugh.

Allow me to predicate this review by saying other than teen novels I’ve read, I’ve never had the odd pleasure of reading what is classified in the romance fiction world as a – clean read. I’ve heard of these types of books, and for a time, thought they were a myth, until I read this book. Stumped you say? A clean read is a book written without profanity and lacks specific details of sex scenes. They are more like mentioned in passing kind of thing. You could leave this book open on the kitchen table, have your twelve-year-old pick it up and start to read and not have to worry. Get it now?
However, if you’re not prepared for this, it will kind of throw you off. It does however, make you concentrate more on the core story. Danielle wrote a good one, however, the hard part for me was the dialogue of her main character, Chey. This book is intelligently written and the grammar is spot on, maybe a bit too much. The royals speaking the way they do is expected. More than likely all of them were educated at the finest universities around the world, but not our heroine. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, an orphan and contemplating a convenience store job to make rent, her dialogue is that of an English professor at Cambridge. The writer shows her chops in that she can put a sentence together. She’ll make you break out your dictionary while reading this, but as a writer, I have to call her out on it. Why? We do not speak grammatically correct. American’s especially love slang and many would accuse the residents of the red, white and blue of butchering the English language, and they’d be correct. The dialogue was over-edited to the point of pain.
So why the low rating? The one star knock down was for lack of condom usage between the two main characters. I won’t forgive it under any circumstance if the story is written in modern times. This is not a historical romance; however, it does read like one. The half star knock down was for what I mentioned before, the dialogue of her main character.
I won’t be continuing this series not because of the story line, it’s intriguing, but clean stories just don’t do it for me. I need more angst, more passion, more description…I need smut alright? Oh, but I will say I caught two swear words in the book…but one came with the funniest line in the story: How the hell are ya? What about them Seahawks?

To be honest, I got this book on accident. I meant to get the first book in a different Royals series (Paper Princess), but apparently selected this one instead. And, to be frank, I wasn't planning to read it.
But I'm kinda glad I did.
This novel follows Chey Sinclaire, a struggling photographer facing eviction from her tiny Seattle apartment after the loss of her job and the death of her parents, when she is granted an amazing opportunity: The chance to travel to a small country in Europe to photograph royalty for four months.
Upon her arrival, though, Chey finds that things won't be as simple as she had hoped: A dangerous plot is afoot, a prince is interested in her despite his ties to a suitable potential wife, and she finds herself falling for the captain of the guard.
This book isn't a masterpiece. There's a lot of telling, when there should be showing, and it's very romance heavy with very little substance. I found many elements of the plot predictable as well.
But this story is super fun. It reads quickly. The author describes things and surroundings succinctly and precisely. Chey is likable enough, if a bit stupid. And we don't spend an excessive amount of time focused on boring, unnecessary story lines.
If you're bored and looking for an adult romance, light on the sex scenes, I'd recommend this one. Will I be continuing on with the series? I dunno. Probably not. It's seven books long, man.

He asks her to take candid shots of his girlfriend Viia, and she feels a strong attraction to him.
The next day Sander Fisk, tackles her in the forest and demands to know why she is trespassing. She finds him very attractive as well. But she keeps running into Mattias and he pays her attention, buys her gifts and takes her out to dinner.

First question: why offer a portrait photography deal to a woman who takes calender snaps? The security guys arrange her passport in hours. How? You also don’t offer for someone to live with you for four months to take seasonal shots. Four months isn't ALL the seasons. Fly her in each month; it’d be cheaper. She never uses lighting either. And how does she edit these shots? Her laptop disappeared at 2% in.
She describes Mattias’ girlfriend in a needlessly bitchy way at her FIRST meeting. I HATE this trope of competition between women and it seems to be everywhere. Then to make matters worse, the princess is in a drunken fury and throws a glass at her head.
Okay… the head of security, Sander, didn’t know this girl was going to be living with them for four months? the head of security??
Someone is shooting at them and he takes her to his bulletproof cabin and then doesn’t leave to … I dunno… do his job. They play scrabble instead. And WHY is his cabin bulletproof? For some reason she thinks he can’t cook.
The housekeeper just called her ‘darling’ ?
You should say ‘your highness or your majesty’ when speaking to the King. Or whatever title they have asked you to use. Didn’t anyone give her an etiquette lesson? She can’t google it, she didn’t seem to pack her laptop.
They ate gold bars? You mean soup kind of bouillon.
There’s a lot of errors like this, by the way. Here’s another:

Bottom Line: The plot is reasonable, the characters are likeable, but this book needs some serious editing. If you can get past the spelling, grammar, and clunky sentences, it's a quick, enjoyable read.
To get more in-depth, this book was fine. It was free on Amazon, the plot sounded good for a nice romance read, so I downloaded it. So, for the price, it was great! The plot was actually fairly good. There were a couple twists that I didn't see coming, which were nice surprises, and it kept the book from falling into a lot of cliches about this particular brand of romance. It also kept it from being predictable. There was a bit of mystery thrown in, though that particular plotline wasn't as well developed as it could have been. The plot was good enough to keep me interested despite some major flaws.
The other part of the book that kept me interested were the main characters. Chey is a fun, likeable heroine, though she does fall into many of the "American Abroad" stereotypes. Sander is great. He does fall into a bit of a white knight mold (and Chey is a bit of a damsel, but not TOO much), but he's not overbearing. He is genuinely charming. I really feel that the dialogue between Chey and Sander is largely some of the best in the book.
The dialogue and description are the book's two main flaws for me. Some of the dialogue is just... not natural. I found myself saying, "Who says that??" to some of the lines. For example, Chey tells another character at one point, "My parents perished in a car accident," which just doesn't seem like something a person would actually say. It sounds like a headline, something which looks better written than it does said aloud. Then, the non-dialogue falls into the trap of too much description. I don't need to know what characters are wearing in exact detail every single day! Big scenes, maybe. Otherwise, too much inane information. Another issue was with the multiple grammatical errors (for example, using "conscious" instead of "conscience", which is an enormous pet peeve of mine). Another annoyance was that "royal" or "royalty" were consistently capitalized, when they didn't need to be. "Going to meet Royalty" or the like was a regular occurrence that really made me a little crazy. I found myself trying to edit the book while I was reading it, which was unfortunate. I really think that if the book had been well-edited, some of these things might have been discovered and smoothed out.
I liked the plot enough that I would consider reading the next in the series, just to see what happens. However, I'm not willing to pay for the second installment if the writing style is going to drive me batty. So if I find it at a library, I'll try it then!

Sarah and I buddy read this one. I was on a royalty kick after the wedding so I binged in all my royal themes free kindle books. Some were winners, some were losers. This one was entertaining, and I will read on. I won’t say there’s anything new here, but I enjoyed it enough (and the train wreck of a royal family that I want to see what else happens). I do not want to give anyone the impression this was a great book - it wasn’t. But it held my interest and that’s more than a lot of books do. It’s probably more a two star book but I enjoyed it and feel generous.
You have to suspend belief a bit to get into the royal situation. Chey is a pretty non-successful photographer that is on the verge of being evicted. Two dudes show up with cards that just say security, offer her a four month trip to take pics of a royal family, and she agrees to go WITHOUT CHECKING THEIR STORY OUT. This could have opened the same way and been a suspense book about a dumbass girl that gets kidnapped by traffickers. Luckily, we are in romance land though!
Chey finds the royals pretty snooty, dysfunctional and rude save the Prince. She’s attracted to him immediately but also has a thing for Sander, the head of security. The Prince is almost engaged but keeps putting Chey In uncomfortable situations to poke at his family and non-fiancé. Sander is super charming, but mysterious. Chey flirts with them both, and I found that disturbing, but she sorta makes a choice and sticks with it, all the while continuing to see the other.
So then there start to be attacks on her life. Does she tell her security hero? Not at first, she blames a cabinet. Somehow despite numerous attacks, she continues to be ok with things and the bumbling security keeps just missing what happened.
In the end, I felt the second to last attempt on her life was too much. Spoiler - she gets a note asking to go somewhere and she friggin GOES. Sure she thinks it’s from someone else, but realistically she would have texted them and said hey got your note - this isn’t the first rodeo on threats and attacks for her.
The final attempt on her life seemed... well sorta a let down. All that for something pretty predictable?
Oh there is a twist that is completely predictable. Did she not have google? Come on girl!
You get some resolution to the romance, but not completely. More HFN instead of HEA. But the chemistry is there and it’ll be interesting to see how it works out. I pretty much can’t stand the queen, king or sister, and I can’t imagine living with those folks for the next few months, but as a reader I want to know the dark secrets they are hiding!
So, it was a fun read. Not groundbreaking, not super deep, just a little royal fluff to make me happy!
