הגרסה הראשונה של האודיסיאה שקראתי לפני יותר מ 20 שנה כשהספר יצא.
עכשיו בקריאה שנייה פחות התלהבתי, אולי כי לאחרונה קראתי את "שירו של אכילס" ו"קירקה" של מדלין מילר, למרות שזה לא אותו סגנון, הם הרבה יותר מעמיקים ומעניינים.
יחד עם זאת, אלכס אפשטיין כותב בצורה מיוחדת במינה, מאוד סוריאליסטי ומעורר מחשבה.

One of those books you think you might read, but never quite get to. I finally got to it. Those Greek people were crazy, but we sure get a lot of mileage from their stories.

The Odessey is a book has a very interesting writing format. The Odessey is about the journey Odysseus had after the trojan war, it took Odysseus 10 years to get back him to his kingdom, wife and son. The reason why his journey back home took longer than expected was because Odysseus had angered some the Gods. Odysseus was held captive on an island by Calypso, then Odysseus and his men encountered the lotus eaters which tricked his men in wanting to stay with them. Soon after Odysseus and his crew encountered an island with cyclopes, Odysseus and a couple of his men were led captive and while they are in the cave, they plan an attack soon allowing them to escape from the island. The cyclopes pleaded his father Poseidon to do something from him being deceived by Odysseus and his crew. Poseidon came in contact with a sea monster having it destroy all but one of Odysseus ships, then Odysseus and the few men he has left arrives to the island with the goodness Circie. Circie turned half Odysseus men into food and wine, she seduced Odysseus then released him and his men a year later. Odysseus was then warned of the journey him, and his mean had to face just to return home, resulting him being the only person to make it back to Ithaca. Overall, the Odyssey has a lot of twist and turns within the story, but overall should the sacrifice and decisions can affect the outcome of any and everything. Well wrote book. Suggest to everyone this is a nice book to just unravel into. 7.5/10 recommend.

The Odessey was confusing at times because of the unique style of writing, but the overall story was good. The characters were unique, but they also tended to follow the Hero Cycle, making it easier to recognize what was going on. There was a lot of action in it, however, not as much dialogue as I would've liked. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in mythical figures or the hero cycle.
