Initial reaction: I need to think about my overall rating for this one, but despite where it falls, I think this is the end of the line for me for Heather Ostler's respective series, as "The Siren's Secret" really didn't impress me on behalf of the shallow heroine, disjointed dialogue, among other measures despite an interesting premise.

Full review:

This is going to be a short review because it's hard for me to talk about a book that really never grabbed me in the whole time that I read it. I did initially read Heather Ostler's "The Shapeshifter's Secret", and while I didn't care for it, I was hoping that its follow-up "The Siren's Secret" would improve upon the first book in a meaningful way. It certainly has an interesting lore about it with the incorporation of sirens and the backdrop of an overarching war, but it's hard to identify with Julia considering she has uber "special snowflake" syndrome. For a girl who can wield special powers such as hypnotism and shifting into a werecat, it seems her own interests are in the boys she's toggling between, and considering her destiny to lead a people forward - guess what she's more occupied asking an Oracle whom she can consult about the future?

She wants to know whether or not she will be alone. And the Oracle gives her the answer "Yes" and Julia's like "Oh NO! I'll never get married!"

The writing continues to be the biggest detractor from this particular story, between stilted dialogue and a significant disconnect with the established characters. I'll admit when I put the book down, I just didn't remember much about it, nor did I feel compelled to read more into the world or about the respective characters because they felt so threadbare.

Suffice to say, I think this series just isn't for me. At least I can say the story improved somewhat as it went along in its stakes, but not enough to leave a positive impression.

Overall score: 1/5

Note: I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, from the publisher Cedar Fort.

I can say with 100% certainty, the cover made me choose this book. It is stunningly gorgeous, really fits the story, and I utterly adore it.

Aside from the cover, my thoughts on this book are really mixed. Bear with me as I try and sort out my mess of feelings on this story.

Let's start at the beginning. This is a sequel, but have no fear if you haven't read the first one. The author gives you a long, dry, drawn out narrative of the character reminding you (or informing you) about everything that happened in the last book. This went on for over 10 pages, straight. (no, not weaved in, or seamless) I hadn't read the first book, but if I had I might have stopped right there out of boredom.

I get it, I do. It is great when a reader can come into a series that is already in progress. I honestly admire that. But the infodropping needs to be more like infosprinkles and less like infolandmines.

I stuck with it, and eventually we got to the actual story of the current book, and it improved. Sort of. The plot did, anyway. The writing and the tone was still sadly a bit dry. I constantly found myself rolling my eyes. The dialogue was the worst. Very, very unrealistic. It was like "Oh Caleb, I'm so mad at you so could you go stand over there where I don't have to look at you while I sit here and pout? Thanks, I really appreciate that you are willing to give me space even while you sulk." - No, that isn't an actual line from the story, it is me exaggerating a bit. But it was how I felt like they were talking. The dialogue was very introspective and indulgent and not at all realistic.

Why am I going on and on about this? Because underneath the storytelling style that bugged the heck out of me, was a good story. I actually really did like the plot, and I continued to read when while resisting the urge to give up, because I honestly wanted to know what happened. I'm rating this book low because it honestly was not for me. But if this writing style doesn't bother you and you are a plot driven reader, you could very well really like this book.

I'm a character driven reader, and I really didn't bond with any of the characters. I didn't even particularly like any of them. I thought Julia was a selfish spoiled brat. I thought her father was a moron, and I thought both of the boys deserved better.

The best advice I can give is wait until this is available as an ebook, download the sample, and try it for yourself. If you aren't bothered by the style, consider buying it because underneath an unrefined storytelling style, is a gem of a story with important themes like "nothing is set in stone, make your own future, and karma is a bitch."

One other thing - If you are reading this for the romance bit - I wouldn't. It really isn't a romance, even though there is a 'love triangle.'

With a great re-cap in the first few pages, I was easily caught up in the action as Julia makes an astounding discovery that could change her life forever! She not only is a shape shifting were-cat, but she finds she is also a cursed Siren! Her troubles mount as a vision that tells of her future is revealed to her, and it definitely runs polar opposite to "the curse." Which is correct? Julia sees no way to keep those she loves safe from the Guild, headed by her evil mother, except to hide away in Sirenity. Must she give up the man she loves? Can she ever go home again?

The Siren's Secret by Heather Ostler is full of action, some fascinating support characters and a heroine that made me cringe. I could NOT feel for Julia. She seemed too immature and ran off half-cocked too often for my liking. Too often her lack of forethought for her actions put those she supposedly loved in danger. As a role model for the YA crowd, she was sorely lacking in my opinion. On the plus side, her best friend, her father and several others picked up the slack and kept me reading and rooting for them! The plot was wonderful and the twists, creative and the scene descriptions vivid!

An Arc edition was provided by NetGalley and Cedar Fort, Inc. in exchange for my honest review.

The Siren's Secret by Heather Ostler

📓Genre: Fantasy Supernatural Young-Adult

Star: 🌟🌟🌟🌠 (3.7)

🔖This is the second instalment in the 'Shapeshifter's Secret' series, and picks up right where the series starter had ended.
The main theme of the book is (like the title itself reveals) ― about Sirens, mysticism and magic.
🔖The main protagonist Julia ― who by the end of the first book was already partly introduced to the world of sirens ― travels down a path of further self-discovery in this one. The story narrates how she gradually discovers her true self and realizes that she is not just a half-siren, but also royalty. This sequel explores how Julia has to take on several risks & make the hardest of sacrifices, while simultaneously learning to control her powers and be her strongest self.
🔖The author has vividly penned the emotions, especially the intensifying conflicts storming Julia's mind, and given the protagonist a very real & believable feel. The story has a good amount of twists and turns, with a naturally smooth pace.
🔖This story has almost all elements of a good YA fantasy, including love triangle (between Julia, Caleb & Terrence), emotional dilemmas & the sorts. After reading the first book, I wasn't exactly sure how the story would progress, but I kind of liked the way it did.
🔖A good read for a YA fantasy lover.

🔸Final verdict: Good.
🔸Book cover: The cover art is not just perfect to catch the eye of a fantasy lover
🔸Writing style: Engaging.
🔸Character development: Good.

This book series has gotten worse. I hoped it would stop but it just goes on and on and on. Her love relationship and the curse thing is the stupidest thing ever and the ending with the fake wedding is horrible. There is absolutely no explanation for any of the magic stuff or how she went from werecat to siren to werecat. I hate it. DO NOT BUY COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY

The Siren's Secret is book 2 in the Shapeshifter's Secret series. But I think it does do well to stand alone, because I forgot most of book 1 Shapeshifter's Secret. My memory is not what it used to be. Julia has lots of problems to deal with this year. She has some good friends and some new friends too. It is a exciting adventure with secrets, powers, love triangle, sword fights and school.
The characters are rich and not many of them are human.

Julia is in boarding school where she is learning about her weretiger learning how to shift faster and control herself. Her mother is at the head of the guild and wants to kill her or at least use her. Her father Lancer is in charge of soldiers union who are fighting the guild. Lancer is royalty but he gave up his chance to rule to save Julia's life years ago.

Julia is kidnapped and taken into a pond of water which is a portal to the Siren's home. She is taken to the Queen of the sirens. She is told she is half siren. Julia finds that hard to believe than realizes she has been breathing and talking in the water. She is taken back to school and told if she wants to visit again and have more questions just come to the pond and call Riley. She will help her.

Julia is found when she returns right away and taken to her father and tells him about her being a siren and that her mom was a siren as well. Lancer tells her not to tell anyone else about her being a siren. Siren's are not trusted and are dangerous. They knew she was gone because Caleb had been in her dreams. She can only tell her best friend and roommate Sierra because she knows she was missing. Not to tell her boyfriend Terrence.

Caleb tells Julia that he saw part of a prophecy that showed Caleb marrying Julia. Julia does not want to believe him. She loves Terrence.

Their is so much happening in this story. It goes from one problem to another and doesn't answer a lot of the questions I have. So hopefully the next book will and it will be out soon. I plan to read more of Heather's work in the future. I think we need to know more about Sierra's family and past.
I am sure you will want to read this book fast and won't want to put it down till your finished reading it.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it when I was done by Netgalley.

Heather Ostler has been blessed by the cover gods once again. It’s another awesome cover!

With said, sadly, my excitement ends there.

I mentioned in my last review that I thought this series had loads of potential. Essentially, this is the story of a teenage girl who finds out that she is a Shapeshifter, comes from a long line of royalty and was born in a world full of magic.

I had high hopes for the first book and although I wasn’t thoroughly impressed by the end of that book, I still found myself intrigued enough to read book two, The Siren’s Secret.

Again, I found myself awed with the cover and the synopsis and only hoped beyond hope that the writing had improved. It didn’t and this saddens me. Writing is more than just putting words and ideas together. It’s about making the reader feel a connection, transporting the reader into a world that is very real in the author’s head and heart to the point the reader believes that world is real.

I felt a huge disconnect throughout the entire book. There are a lot of characters in this book and we are supposed to believe that many of them are emotionally tied to one another, like best friends, family, and love interests. Not once did I ever feel like these emotions, these bonds, were real.

We are to believe that Julia will one day rise up to lead her people. I’m sorry; I can’t see that happening at all. Julia is the biggest brat and the most immature character I’ve read in a long time. There is nothing about this child that screams leader or anything at all that a leader possesses, like common sense.

Sirens are awesome and I liked how they were incorporated into the story. I just didn’t like how Julia was incorporated into the Siren’s story. In fact Julia ruined the whole Siren experience for me. She focused on all the wrong things, in my opinion. Julia’s new world is in the middle of a very real war. Her dad is targeted to be killed all the time. She finds out that she has a connection with the Siren community. Tell me why the only thing that bothers her for at least half the book is that she is destined to be without a husband. Of all the questions she could have asked a seer of sorts, she asks if she is truly destined to be alone. She didn’t think to ask if she will be a good leader, how the war will turn out… I don’t know anything but will she be married one day.

It was disappointing. This is the girl that is supposed to lead a whole world.

Finally, the most frustrating part of this whole thing is that once again this world is oozing of Harry Potter. It’s not an attempt to re-create the feeling of Harry Potter; it’s an attempt to be Harry Potter by changing a few details plus editing a huge chunk of that series so that it may fit into three books in this series. That huge disconnect I wrote about earlier, it has something to do with the book feeling really rushed. When I stopped to think about the whole thing, the only thing that made sense was that the rush was due to trying to incorporate a whole bunch of things that would normally happen in like seven books, to happen in three.

The similarities are just insane at this point and it really upsets me.

I hate writing these kinds of reviews but I have to be honest. I won’t be reading book three in the series.

The Story-
Julia has been stuck under guard the entire summer, unable to talk to her best friend or see her boyfriend, Terrence. She finally gets a break on her birthday when Terrance is able to come for a surprise visit and take her out to dinner. Though Caleb, long time family friend, is against the idea, Julia is excited. While on the date, Julia is attacked by a siren, and everything turns to panic.

Julia and the guards flee back to the other world, bringing Julia safely back to Lockham school. But, Julia can't get the siren out of her mind, and begins questioning what the witch wanted to tell her. Soon Julia finds out she is part Siren, and begins changing into one. As she changes she looses her shape shifting abilities. Fearing what others will think of her she flees to the hidden home of the Siren's. But her friends won't let her go that easy, and come searching. Caleb, because he has a deep dark secret to tell her, and Sierra, because they are best friends.

If finding Julia wasn't hard enough, Julia's evil mother is also searching for her, and Julia needs to be found before her mother gets her.

My Thoughts-
I love this new side of Julia. Siren's are actually misunderstood in the shape shifter world, and have a very bad reputation. When Julia starts turning into one she freaks out, and tries to hide it, but life isn't that easy. I love that her hair turns red, it reflects her new wild side.

If you didn't read the first book in the series, the author gives you several pages of review. I found myself only skimming them, wanting to move on in the story.

I think the funnest thing about this book is that several mysteries are either solved or put into play. The fact that Julia is part Siren causes a big stir, especially because she is royalty. We also learn what the secret was that Caleb tried to tell her at the end of book one, and it is a doozey. Then there is Sierra, who appears to have a twin, and evil royal one. I can't wait to get more into this secret in book 3.

There isn't much romance in the book. There is the love triangle with Terrence and Caleb, but it is pretty flat. I suspect it will heat up more in book 3 as Julia deals with Caleb's secret, but something in this book would have been nice. Overall, the main theme involves Julia discovering who she is and what she values, so the romance is a side part anyway.

The last thing I want to mention is the cover- beautiful. I often pick up a book based on cover art, and this one would grab my attention.

I fell in love with The Shapeshifter's Secret as soon as I started reading it, so I jumped at the chance to read the second book in the series. I have been waiting for The Siren's Secret for a very long time. I couldn't wait to get back to Heather's magical world of shapeshifters and water nymphs and the evil guild. The Siren's Secret did not let me down! But what is even more interesting is that it was not exactly what I expected the sequel to the first book to be. It was darker and had a different overall tone. I liked the contrast to the first book. It was really interesting and honestly, it just makes me all the more excited to read the third book. I can't wait to see what Heather is going to do next. She has proven that she has such versatility with her writing and it makes me excited to see what else she is going to come up with.

The Siren's Secret jumps right in after The Shapeshifter's Secret ended. After Julia's first year at school had ended and she was home over the summer. She quickly runs into Caleb and Terrance and right away I knew that this book would be love triangley. I am personally a fan of Caleb and I always have been.

Julia is more conflicted than ever in this book. She finds out a secret and she spends most of the whole book trying to figure out what to do. It made for a much darker theme. Julia feels a distance between herself and pretty much everyone else and that made me sad at times. But it also made it harder for me to like her a little. I understand that she was going through some crazy stuff and how isolating that must have felt for her, but I think she could have been a little nicer to her friends. She had a few brat like tendencies in this book but her friends were great. I love Sierra and Gabe so much and this book just proved how awesome they are.

Julia isn't the only one with secrets in this book. It seems to be all over the place, but there are plenty of new things that come to light. I loved learning about all of the new secrets, including the curse from the title. I do wish the curse was explained a little bit better but it was explained enough so that you got the idea. The Siren's Secret is a fast paced book that has everything, some action, some adventure, some twists and turns, and just a hint of romance. It wasn't actually too love triangle esque, most of that just came from inner conflict from Julia. I love this series and I can't wait to see what Heather has in store for all of us next.

The Siren's Secret is book 3 in The Shapeshifter's Secret series. NetGalley and Cedar Fort let me review both, here is my link to my first review. Book 2 picks up pretty much where book 1 left off so if you haven't read it then beware spoilers.

Julia is happy with her life, strange as it is. She isn't so fond of the hiding and threats from her evil and deranged mother Alexis and The Guild but looking on the positive side she loves her werecat form (a white tiger if you didn’t remember is my favorite), her friends, and of course the Terrance. Overall she's feeling pretty good. Then she learns a truth about herself, one no one dreamed of, one that threatens everything. She's part Siren!

Yep, if the title wasn't clear. Not a big deal right? Oh well there is a curse on Sirens and the whole political aspect where everyone thinks sirens are evil, untrustworthy creatures. Feel free to insert your own joke about most politics being sirens then. Julia struggles to understand her place in Ossai if she is a siren or a werecat. Is she truly cursed or is she destined for something else entirely and what does that mean for her relationships.

The Siren's Secret is a wonderful sequel and quick read. As a reader you learn more about Julia and all of her relationships, with family, friends, enemies, and unknowns, as well as Ossai itself. It also gives more bread crumbs into things to come in the series. The new world of Ossai is ever expanding and we explore deeper into it, as it changes. I enjoyed the way Ostler showed the characters changing to what was happening around and to them. Even if you want to scream and strangle them at times you know they are reacting to the information or situation they have or are in.

This book came out June 11th, I know I'm behind again. I give it 4 solid mystical orbs. Check it out and always please tell me what you think!

It's lovely to be a part of the blog tour for The Siren's Secret today. Siren's Secret is the second book in this series, the first being The Shapeshifter's Secret. My thanks to Heather Ostler for allowing me to read and review her book.

One of the things I appreciate most about this book is that it's clean. Heather does a great job with this.

Julia is definitely on a journey of discovery. By the end of the last book and at the beginning of this book you get the feel that Julia thinks she has a good handle on things. She is efficient at shape shifting and her studies are going well. She has a boyfriend and seems pretty content despite the ongoing struggles with the Guild. Of course, we all know that when a character in a book gets comfortable, things are really going to get shaken up. Poor Julia. It was inevitable. ;)

I loved the world of Sirenity and I loved how the Siren's basically proved the prejudice's against them wrong to some degree. It was a great new addition to the plot line.

I have an on again off again like for Julia. There are so many times that she does or says things that I just don't like. Her friends and family are incredible loyal and patient with her even when I'm not sure she does much to instill that in them. Maybe it's because she is the princess? I don't know. I think it's the selfish attitude that she'll do what she wants even if it hurts people and then say sorry later. But, Julia isn't always selfish. She puts everything on the line in multiple times to save her family and friends when it all explodes, but it's just the stuff leading up to that, I guess.

I think Terrance really gets the shaft in this book and I feel sorry for him. I think he was treated so coldly by Julia. Boo. I like Terrance.

Things are left up in the air for Julia so I'll be looking forward to seeing how things unfold next. I'm hoping for a more mature Julia and maybe a kinder one. Julia's BFF has some secrets of her own that were never exactly resolved in this book so I'm hoping we get some answers there too.

The Siren's Secret
by Heather Ostler

Julia's world is about to change again....

The Siren's Secret takes up where The Shapeshifter's Secret left off. Julia Levesque has spent the summer in New York and will soon return to school at Lockham. But when a Siren's appearance cuts short Summer vacation, Julia is left to wonder what message she was about to hear when Terrence whisked her away.

But Julia is having trouble this year. She can't concentrate in class, her shapeshifting abilities are fading, and Caleb is in her dreams. Why is this happening and even more worrisome what is wrong with her reflection when she is near water?

As the Soldier Union continues its campaign against Alexis and the Guild, Julia goes through a crisis that may change her present and her future. Who is Julia and how can she figure it out before it is too late? Does she listen to the prophecy or the curse? Do either have any bearing upon who she is and who she can become?

As Julia finds herself caught between two worlds, she struggles to discover her place in Ossai. Having discovered, the previous year, that she was a Shapeshifter was hard enough for Julia, but what she is about to discover about both herself and her mother may bring instability to Ossai. The future of she life and her world is about to land in Julia's life, if she can find it within herself to meet the challenge.

The Siren's Secret is a fabulous sequel to The Shapeshifter's Secret. This is a YA title that won't offend the sensibilities of parents who are looking for a clean fantasy for their teens to read. There is a touch of romance, a bit of fighting, and plenty of entertainment - so didn't miss out on this exciting sequel!

I was provided a PDF copy of this title in exchange for my honest review.

Author guest post and early ebook giveaway http://fireandicephoto.blogspot.com/2...

Sirens entrance me. I've always been fascinated by the creatures who live in the sea. When I saw this cover on Netgalley I was lured and captivated. I hadn't read book one of the Shapeshifter's Secret series (we review it here) but was easily able to pick up where the previous left of, as Heather gives a plot retelling in the first few chapters of book two. Julia is in hiding in an antique cottage with her father and the guard after an attempt on her life. Her life seems ever more complicated as the tension heats up between her boyfriend Terrance and friend, protector Caleb. When a date with Terrance goes dangerously wrong and Julia is intercepted by a mysterious Siren there are questions to be answered.

With enchanting mythology and a magical setting, Heather Ostler paints her unique spin on shape shifters and the difference between water nymphs and sirens. I wish I could fully immerse myself in the Lockham academy and underwater scenes of Sirenity. I found myself wanting much more filling out of details and world building. With little inventions like a parchment that writes and receives messages plus a truth telling ring there is plenty of room for lots more imagination.

I also am pulling for one side of the love triangle to move ahead. I'm hoping book three picks up the pace in swoon worthiness and character development because a huge whopper of a plot twist has been dropped.

Content: The Siren's Secret is a clean read suited for middle grace and young adult readers and I am happy to recommend it to all.

I didn't read the first book in this series, but I didn't feel lost at all reading this. There were a couple of things that I know I missed out on, but the author gives quite a few reminders about what occurred in the last book.

I thought this was a very interesting fantasy world. There are various types of beings, although the ones that I remember are the sirens, werecats, and the water nymphs. The story begins with Julia, her father, and some soldiers hiding away in New York, but when they feel it becomes unsafe they move back to the school where Julia will be attending soon anyway and where she can be safe. Most of the story takes place here as well as an island where the Siren's live. I liked the contrasts between the places and that Ostler doesn't give so many descriptions that it overwhelms the story.

Julia is definitely a teenager! There is plenty of drama! A couple of times I was a little confused because I thought she had thought or decided one thing, but would go in a different direction. I really liked Sierra and Gabe, Julia's friends. They were very supportive and loyal. There is a love triangle involving Terrence (Julia's boyfriend) and Caleb (who wants to be her boyfriend). I didn't completely love either guy, but I would say that I liked Terrence the best. I won't say who Julia chooses.

There are a couple of things that are definitely unresolved and I'm guessing that a certain evil lady will make another appearance in the next book. I really appreciated that this was a clean read. :)

Content: Clean

Since her encounter with her mother Alexis, at the ball last year, Julia has been in hiding back home away from Ossai until it's time for her to return to school. she spends her days practicing shifting and thinking of her boyfriend Terrance, who decides to surprise her with dinner for her birthday but he never expects her to be approached by a Siren. Her father and protectors feel it's best to leave early and take her back to Lockham Castle, where they believe she will be safe. Yet, when the siren calls Julia life may change forever.

I liked this story and all the different aspects of the Ossain culture. Julia can come off as self-centered, stubborn and selfish but she's just a terrified teenager going through an unexpected change in a time when she's already has to cope with the fact that she is a princess, shape-shifter and from a whole entire new world. Julia is also in love and the new revelation about her heritage could put a nail in her hopes of a future with him. I will be honest, not really feeling Terrance, it's just something about him that doesn't sit well with me and I think the "love" part happens too fast with them. Caleb, one of her protectors, though intense... seems a better match for her, if he doesn't scare her away with the information that's been eating at him since last year. Julia's life is complex and loaded with secrets that will alter everything she's come to know. I enjoyed the characters, pace, story and the world that Ostler has created and look forward to reading the next book. Overall, this would be a quick, clean fantasy romance for teens looking for a good read without sexual content.

Julia has had a long boring summer at home with her father in New York, she wasn't even allowed to talk to her best friend Sierra. But now it's almost time to go back for her second year of school at Lockham Castle and Julia can't wait. She'll have a bit more freedom and hopefully get to spend some extra time with her boyfriend Terrence. But things are about to get a lot more crazy for Julia. First there's the exploding package that locks down her home even more than before and then Julia sees a Siren the very first time her dad lets her go to town for a date with Terrence. Things are not looking good. Julia's father decides that they must go to Lockham Castle now, even before they were planning on going. But even within it's safe confines strange things are happening to Julia. She's not changing into her werecat as fast as she was last year, and her appearance is starting to change. These are things that Julia must keep secret, and when things get too difficult Julia knows that she must run away to Sirenity, but what will this mean for her father and the others that she loves?

I really enjoyed this book! There is plenty of action, adventure and romance to keep almost anyone happy. I love the characters, Julia especially, that's probably because you see everything from her point of view. I love the setting, I can almost "see" Lockham Castle. I can't wait to read more of Julia's adventures! You definitely want to read The Shapeshifter's Secret first, or this book will be really confusing.

Julia’s world was turned upside down last year. She had to abandoned her life at New York… well we could say she had to leave her life on earth as we know it to save her life. As a result she found out her father had kept a dimension full of secrets all her life.
Now after surviving some quality time with her mother, Julia is ready for another school year at her other dimension boarding school. What she doesn’t expect is that her appearance starts to change in drastic ways, her shifting abilities decrease and the fact that she is cursed force her to leave school and go to Serenity.

Heather found a way to twist the story into a way that I hadn’t expected. When I read the title I was super excited, what could a shapeshifter have to do with a siren? How would Caleb and Terrence fit into this story? What more does Ossai have to offer?
It was nice to see the characters and the story that made this book memorable to me, to walk in Heather Ostler’s New York, Ossai and Lockham Castle.
The direction this story took was really unexpected; it gave me another sense of Ossai and all we haven’t discovered, not only in all the land we still don’t know but all the problems and races that live in it.
I hope you give The Siren’s Secret a try and make the decision for yourself.

The Siren's Secret picks up where "The Shapeshifter's Secret" left off. In fact, the first chapter or so is a recapping of the first book. It was a great review to bring me back up to speed for this book.

Julia has a complex life. She is a were-shifter. She has a father who commands in the military and a mother who is a traitor. Her mother seeks her out and causes many problems and dangerous situations for Julia.

When a siren seeks her out and says that she has a secret to share with Julia, she is immediately packed up and find herself in her home realm of Ossai and back to school, Lockham Castle. Her first clue that all was not right was the guard who did not recognize her as a werecat and questioned her right to enter.

I loved The Shapeshifter's Secret and looked forward to the sequel. I have to say that Heather did not disappoint me. She has a very vivid and clear writing style that paints her picture well. Her characters are likable and it is easy to follow them in the story. She incorporates a good mix of action and romance.

Before you pick up the book, I would recommend reading the first book, first. This is book's content is appropriate for all ages.

This book is a spectacular read! I cant even say how amazing it was to go back into Julia's world as well as see all the new places in the fantastical world Heather has created. I could not put this book down! The Siren's Secret is a great fantasy meets almost reality book with heart, romance and friend ship. For a sequel this is a great one, so many twist and turns you wont want to stop once you start. All in all I love this book and all it offers to any who read it. As well When I finished this book there was one thing that keep going though my mind "I can not wait for the next book!" ^.^

I really wanted to like this and so kept reading until the end. There really weren't any characters that I connected with. And several times throughout the book, the author would say that something happened for one full minute, and one time there was silence for five full minutes. It made me picture someone standing there looking at their watch. Also, the styles and the way people talked made me think that this story was set in the past, but I think that there were cars mentioned in it. It confused me.

First line:

"Julie sat down at the dinner table across from several other soldiers, who were busy conversting about Ossai, Lockham Castle, and the Guild.

Interesting tale of a girl who can shape shift but also is a siren. Which path will she choose?

This good, clean read will take you to two different, magical worlds.

Oh my lord! I loved this book! Finally some action and resistance. I really liked all the drama, I hated how weak Julia seemed because of her lack of defense skills. Even though I loved this book when I finished I was completely LIVID. Not only is Alexis gone . . . AGAIN but, Terrence and Julia are over

This author is one of my good friends, and I am so proud of her! I think I liked The Siren's Secret even better than the first one, "The Shapeshifter's Secret." Can't wait for the next one to come out!!! Go Heather!

This is a sequel to "The Shape Shifter's Secret". Julia loses her shapeshifting ability and becomes a siren. She goes to live with the sirens, and while there, finds out that her father and uncle have been looking for her and are being held prisoner by Julia's mother.
