When social media star Madi meets down-on-his luck cowboy Cash, #romance is trending, but can two polar opposites find a picture-perfect happily ever after?

On a whim, Madi Keller books a vacation at a ranch in the wilds of Montana hoping to escape a broken heart and her mile-a-minute LA life. The last thing she expects is to fall head over heels--literally--for Cash Carter. But escaping her LA life permanently, and the boyfriend she left behind, may be more than Madi is ready for.

Cash Carter knows trouble when he sees it tumbling down the airport escalator—and it looks exactly like Madi Keller, right down to her overpriced designer cowboy boots and bright pink hat. He’s shown dozens of girls just like her how to ride, rope, and wrangle, including the one who stampeded right over his heart.

Soon Cash faces even more trouble than he bargained for when Madi turns out to have an irresistible depth beneath her charm, and Madi has to reevaluate her own prejudices about cowboys when ranch life feels more appealing than a return to the city. The differences between them are bigger than a star-filled Montana sky, but can they put them aside to find the happiness they both long for?

Just One Look is a sweet, closed door romance, with a touch of sizzle. It was originally published as C is for Cowboy under the pen name Brenna Jacobs.

Not my fave.

I hate insta-love as a general rule, but this one triggered my gag reflex. And Madi was so dependent and whiny and damsel-y; where were her ‘rules’ when they were camping?? I wanted her to buck up and put on her big girl panties. And her offering to go to bed after knowing him for just a few hours was utterly cringe.

But the proverbial straw was marriage talks after a week, with an entire lifestyle change thrown in for good measure.

Madi seemed genuinely sweet, and determined to do right and help others for good. But has she ever been on her own- ever?? Seemed like she just bounced from guy to guy and never knew who she truly was. I just didn’t buy into a Montana-sized change of heart/personality.

My Favorite So Far

This story is my favorite of this series so far. Madi was awesome and someone I would like to be friends with in real life. She loves books! She and Cash were so different but I loved their attraction and the fast fall that happened for them both. This one was a heart squeezer and I loved it. 4.5 stars

Okay, I’m loving this series so much!

This one has so many great elements. Let’s start with Madi. I loved how she is. I feel like she really represents our society right now. It seems like every one of us are addicted to our phones and a good chunk of us to social media. It’s just the world we live in. And Madi is that. She’s a social media influencer and she’s really good at what she does. But Madi has signed up for a Montana vacation at a working ranch, so good bye internet. This causes some issues for her, but I loved how she overcame them.

One of my favorite things about Madi was how she constantly fell, she kept me laughing from the first. And her kindness amazed me. Madi constantly goes out of her way to be a kind person. She gave her clothes to a young mom who’s baby had a blowout and so many other kind things. I loved Madi!

Next up is Cash, he’s the cowboy. And he’s a really great one. When he isn’t picking up guests at the airport in Bozeman, he’s working hard on the ranch that had been in his family for generations. The one his dad sold while he was gone. Cash is a gentleman, he treats Madi so well. I liked his sense of family. Family and tradition is a big part of his life and obviously important to him. And the way these two interacted was so funny!

The plot of this one is so much fun! It’s a sweet romance that will keep you hooked until you’ve read the very last page. I can’t wait for the next ABC’s of Love book!

I loved this one! Cash thought he knew all there was to know about spoiled girls like Madi! Except that everything he thought he knew about Madi was WRONG! I discovered this series after this book had been released and I binge-read the first 4 books (Prequel and Books 1-3). I'm glad I only have to wait a few weeks for Book 4 to come out...

It was cute but they fell in love wayyyy too fast. Like within days where they only spent time together for one full day. Sweet story but super rushed

When Madi Keller, a social media sensation, decides to escape her hectic LA life and mend her broken heart, she impulsively books a vacation at a Montana ranch. Little does she know, she'll stumble—literally—into the life of Cash Carter, a cowboy down on his luck. Despite their glaring differences, sparks fly between them. As Madi wrestles with leaving her old life behind, Cash finds himself drawn to her despite his past heartbreak. As they navigate their disparities and unexpected connection, they must decide if their love can overcome the obstacles standing in their way.

I really liked Madi from the beginning. Although she seems to be busy and that she needs help for every little thing, she is actually very independent, she knows what she wants until she falls in love. Several times she gave more of herself for love than she should have and of course later she is more and more cautious. I didn't like the way Madi and Cash communicated, neither of them said exactly what they wanted, they were holding back, both cautious. I like how the atmosphere, cowboys, family, progress and obstacles in relationships are portrayed.

I received this book in exchange for a review, and honestly I’ve put off the review for this long because I feel guilty not giving a glowing one.

It’s a fun romance. And clean, although honestly several times I wondered if it would stay that way. But it’s rather like cotton candy- sweet, but doesn’t stick with you very long. And honestly there are some places the plot doesn’t stand up all that well under scrutiny.

But one of my biggest problems with the book are the political digs. I read fiction to escape all the garbage that’s around me, especially how politics creep into everything, and I don’t appreciate it being thrust into a book like this. Plus it makes the book have a really short shelf life- in 10 years who will even understand the line “... a guy who loved putting up walls even more than Donald Trump?” It did nothing to further the plot and just alienated about half of the audience.

This is the second of her books I’ve read. And I don’t have any interest in reading any more.

Such a cute, fun book! I read it when it was first released (as a Brenna Jacob’s book) so when I saw the audiobook on sale I knew I needed it I absolutely loved revisiting Madi and Cash’s story!

I loved Madi’s character and how she showed Cash that things aren’t always as they seem. She may have appeared to be a high maintenance influencer, but she was such a source of good and light always doing kind things to lift others!

I also loved Cash, the small town cowboy who had his life changed when Madi walked into it! Their love story was just so cute!!

The narrator did a great job with this book and I was throughly entertained from start to finish!

Contains: some mild language, kisses. I did not get Cash and Madi’s connection. They fell in love for reasons and it was super fast. I also thought the pacing was a bit off. They started kissing early and often which made the story stagnate. I didn’t like the cliche epilogue either. In every book of this series so far the couple have ended up married and pregnant. I like kids just as much as the next guy but some people wait longer for kids, others don’t want kids, and some people can’t have kids. I want some variety in the HEA’s.

Madi is a social influencer showing people how to live their best, fullest life. She never backs down from a challenge. So, when her ex-boyfriend tells her she couldn't make it a day outside of her luxurious LA life to 'rough' it without him, she immediately set out to prove him wrong. She signed up for a Montana ranch working vacation. Cash Carter's family had owned the ranch for generations, but his father sold it, and now Cash is a paid employee on it. He's seen dozens of LA girls come to the ranch; even followed one back to LA for a while, and he knows the type. High maintenance. They have the fake cowgirl wardrobe, the pretty boots, and the latest phone. Madi even has a pink cowboy hat. But Madi surprises Cash when she proves to be more. She has the biggest heart, stubbornness for days, a desire to learn, and a thirst for life, and he can't help but admire her. But they come from different worlds. It can't possibly work.

The characters weren't my ideals and didn't seem like they would work out, but it had some funny scenes in the beginning. I was enjoying the book until the camping trip. Madi was a nice blend of the ridiculous and the unexpected until then. But on the camping trip, she became a damsel in distress and tried her best to ruin the trip for everyone. Cash barely even did his job while babying her. Cash was a little bitter for my tastes and too judgmental, considering he was the one who followed a girl to LA. Not every girl is cut out for life on a ranch, but that doesn't mean they are shallow or lesser, just not for a ranch hand.

Listen I try really hard not to be trigger happy with the one star rating but I just couldn't rate this higher. And it's all preference, I'm sure this would be an enjoyable read for most people.

I just really struggled through this one, almost from the jump. Madi is not my kind of heroine. She seemed to have a victim complex with almost zero empathy towards how her actions impacted other people or could be viewed by other people. I got excited about 60% of the way through when it seemed she might be having a wake up call moment, but it didn't last and she continued to act as though she was the sun in everyone's universe. If she's supposed to be a character in need of growth then sure sign me up but no one really called her out on her behaviour, not enough anyway, and if anything they often took responsibility for her actions and behaviour which just set my teeth on edge.

Madi was the main reason why I didn't enjoy this read at all. And her relationship with Cash made basically zero sense. Zero. I was not down with this ship.

I feel so disappointed because I LOVED A for Author (or whatever it's named now) and was excited to sink my teeth into the series. But since that first read, I've had a run of bad experiences with the remaining entries. I might have to give the rest a miss. For the sake of my average goodreads rating.

This was an ok story, but not my personal fave. The narration was good. - A social media influencer decides to prove her, on again-off again bf wrong, by heading out to a remote ranch in Montana where she’ll be on her own away from the crowds in LA. But once she meets the sexy ranch hand picking her up at the airport, sparks begin to fly. However, Cash has been burned by an LA woman before and doesn’t want his heart broken again. He wants to stay in Montana and she wants to stay in LA, so how can they ever be together? - My reasons for not loving this book were mainly because the FMC was super compulsive and rash and that made me dislike her character. Also, this was an insta-love type of thing, but because of the MMC’s past betrayal and wanting to keep his heart safe, I felt it being so rushed and love within a week or two was just unrealistic for that type of character.

- Virgin cowboy MMC
- Social media influencer FMC
- MMC that loves reading Jane Eyre
- Montana ranch
- Past betrayal/heartbreak
- Opposing lifestyles
- Miscommunication
- Impulsive FMC

Listened on Chirp (Friday freebie).

California insta influencer, Madi, meets Montana virgin cowboy, Cash. I haven’t met cowboys from Montana, but I doubt there are any who would appreciate his little sister (Lila) sharing details about his sex life (or lack thereof) with anyone, especially the lady he’s interested in romantically. As Madi said so eloquently, “Oh hell to the no”! I also never met any cowboy, from MT or any other state, who would readily admit he LIKED reading Jane Eyre. Not saying it isn’t possible, but I’d be highly suspect of any cowboy I know doing so. If I could give Madi a piece of my mind, I would tell her the first rule of making it on your own begins with realizing you might have to lug your own suitcases through the airport, so pack accordingly. If you’re going to assert your “independence” then take full responsibility for that little detail first—THAT is being present in the moment.

This book was entertaining, but I’m about 40 years older than the target audience—so it was also more than a bit silly to me. I did like the audiobook narrator.

I loved that even though Madi was an influencer, she wasn't the stereotypical LA girl with no substance to her. She took whatever life threw at her and adjusted.

From the very beginning these two had chemistry, and they acknowledged it. The only barrier was that she was an LA native and couldn't bear the thought of living miles from civilization. Cash was Montana born-and-bred, and he had once left his home for a girl in LA, but it didn't work out. So he was a little gun-shy in that respect.

Still, they leaned in to their attraction and had a wonderful time going on all sorts of dates at the ranch even as the date of Madi's departure back to LA loomed closer.

I loved that in the end they both had to show that they were willing to sacrifice in order to make their relationship work.

I enjoyed this quick and easy read!

Sometimes, we are so hurt by others that we prefer to separate ourselves from others in our lives. This is what happened to Cash. When he was forced to pick up a young woman from the airport because she missed her first flight to give her seat to a service man trying to get home for the birth if his child, then when on her flight there a young woman with an upset child ended up with baby barf and fecises all over her slacks gave her the jeans she herself were wearing to put on her short shorts barely, looking like she should be at the beach, tripping on the escalator falling face first into Cash when her shirt had come completely unbuttoned with his face in her chest, Cash knew he was in trouble. This was one of the most naturally clumsy setups I have ever enjoyed reading. The feelings and emotions they both experience are so real it becomes easy to believe the book is real.

I love this series I have to admit. they are short, sweet and simple to follow which is great at the end of a long day. I enjoyed both the LA girl and the Montana boy in this story. They were cheesy stereotypes - they were supposed to be. The cliches were challenged an appropriate amount for a light funny look at what falling in love looks like. Some of the details were great about the being out in the wilderness and the seedy settings. I loved the simplicity and will definitely be reading more of these. Probably my second favourite after A is for author but in some ways this is a better flowing story - I just didn't relate as well to the social media aspects but they were well portrayed.

Gag, this book was terrible. The audio voice for Madi was so cringey! She was the epitome of blonde and dumb. I was hoping her voice would get less “valley-girl”, but it didn’t. Madi was everything LA and after a few weeks on the ranch she was still everything LA.
No way would this ever work. Cash loves “everything about her”. Her clumsiness, adorable. Her willingness to try anything, adorable. (Even though she wasn’t willing to give up her phone or to keep fishing). The way she wears an ugly pink cowboy cat? Adorable. The way her ex boyfriend comes to take her back and Cash misunderstands so she proves him wrong by leaving with said ex boyfriend and heads to the airport? Adorable.

I loved the characters and story a lot, however, my KU version had some mistakes which distracted me. First there seemed to be places where Madi’s ex was referred to a Vance instead or Brandt. Also in s fishing scene, Cash starts off fly fishing and the next thing you know, he’s fishing with worms. The last was big for me, since I’m a Texas Aggie. There was a minor character that was a former A&M cheerleader. A&M has Yell Leaders (5 typically males whose sole purpose is engaging the 12th Man). To Aggies that’s a big distinction.

Sweet, contemporary western romance

Romance, sweet, contemporary, western; series but stand alone
Maddie and Cash are both in for a big change when they literally fall. She falls and he catches her as she arrives at the airport in Montana. They both have had their hearts broken. Cash is leery of letting anyone from a city in his heart, and Maddie is leery of leaving her internet filled influencer life behind.
Lovely banter between them, two honest hearts, lovely moments, and courage along with great chemistry made for a great read. Sincere, heartfelt, honest, and real they made a perfect HEA.

If this is your first exposure to Brittany Larsen, don't let this book set the bar. her more recent books are much better. much better.

I didn't love the characters. they're quick to judge each other, and their communication skills are really lacking. there was a lot of he-said, she-said, with his sister as the middleman, almost moderating their relationship.

I listened to the audiobook, and I didn't love the narrator either. I felt like she put a lot of sass into the characters that maybe wasn't necessary.

So funny! I fell in love with Maddi Keller. She is just the brightest, happiest, ray of sunshine! She's so light and bubbly and is always making the best of every situation. She is from LA and is visiting Cash's working ranch turned working vacation spot.

Cash Carter is a Montana cowboy through and through. He is a bit of a grump.

Some swears and alcohol. Kisses only. Dual POV.

I listened to the audiobook and loved listened to the narrator. She was great and perfect for these Characters.

That was a super cute cowboy romance. I didn't expect to like it so much but I do.

I love the setting. I love the characters, especially Cash. I love the plot. And I love Brownie.

I would definitely recommend romcom readers this book. It's entertaining and the way the setting was described felt like I was watching a movie the entire time.

A cute rom com with a bit of sass! City gal meets ccowboy and falls in love but not just any cowboy, one with Daddy issues. The world building is so descriptive that I can imagine myself right there on the ranch and out in nature. The characters are limited to a handful or so, so it's easy to keep track. I love all the sass and snarky in this rom com!

I was looking for a chick-lit book that would be light to listen to at work. This was only a DNF because it was only 4 hours long. Much like Daisy Jones and the Six, the protagonists were annoying. In this case, the plot was entirely predictable and not particularly well-executed; perhaps it was the overly emotive narration. Will not likely partake of other books by this author.

Not my favorite of the series but still a fun clean romance. Things I particularly enjoyed--
Seeing how Cash's initial impression of Madi was all wrong
Reading about the ranch
Madi learning that being without her phone could be a good thing
Sweet epilogue

Romance and forcing political views don't mix

I really enjoyed this author's books but forcing HER political beliefs into a romance story just made me a non reader of her books. There was NO comedy in her statements.

You blew it.

Madi and Cash are about as opposite as can be. When Madi travels from LA to spend 2 weeks on a ranch in Montana, Cash is sent to pick her up from the airport and the attraction sizzles. Fun characters with some funny situations.
