Burr gets a call from Fred he is worried about Tim, they were to have lunch yesterday and he didn’t call. Two days ago I got a weird package from him. Told him he’d. be there in a few minutes. Before leaving Detective Altenberg shows up Tim had been beaten then murdered, at midnight, at an. abandoned warehouse. Tim was like an overgrown Boy Scout, can’t imagine who.Nurr got the feeling they didn’t have any clues, and the two of them were going to help, for free. As to the weird package, how does that fit in, it was very old. Another great story by the author. You get involved from the first page, and being these three are friends, you also want answers. The plot is fast and full of action. Another must read by the author as all of his books are.

This story which introduces Burr Ashland was well done.

The story begins with the last hours of Tim's life. Tim was a friend of Burr, and once he was notified by the Police of Tim's death. started to look into what happened with Fred's assistance. Fred had received movies films from the early days and didn't have any idea what the films were all about. With Burr's assistance, this was the main clue which would lead to the information of who killed Tim and why it was done. During the investigation, Fred was almost killed and Burr was also beat up trying to find the evidence that Tim had left.

The ending brought into play all of the characters and fully explained what the reason that Tim was killed.

I recommend this author and this story.

Great read

Weird effing story, but it's good. Michael "Burr" Ashland, a private investigator, searches for the person who murdered his childhood friend, a history professor. This book starts out with a bang and ends with a bang, with no tedium in between. It's fast-paced action on every page. I started it after dinner with the intention of putting it aside to watch my favorite TV programs, but just couldn't put it down until I finished it. Ames is a fantastic story teller!

Good read

As I write this review, I question what I really think about it. I rated it 4 stars before I started writing, but then realized I had to keep reading to finish it and see how it wrapped up. Plenty of twists and turns just at the end. Maybe because it all came together too quickly. Enjoy.

This is my first book by Dani Amore, and I think I may have to check out some more! Beer Money has tons of action and short chapters that kept the pages flying. I honestly read it in well under two hours, because I couldn't put it down.

Burr's best friend is murdered, so he begins to investigate for himself, determined to bring justice to his friend. He finds himself entering a world he has never before experienced. I found myself flashing back to the movie 8 MM, that starts Joaquin Phoenix and Nicholas Cage, even though that's not quite what this book is about. People get hurt and new people enter his life. You're not sure whom to trust. I think Dani Amore does a good job hiding who the true murderer actually is.

I also loved that this book had a lot to do with beer, though I was enjoying a nice pinot noir while reading it.

I liked that the book was written in the first person. It's an homage to that film noir genre that is so much fun to watch. I think fans of mysteries will enjoy the twists and turns and rapid pace of this book.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

The cover doesn't do this book justice. I thought I'd be reading something a bit more drunken and humorous, but found a fabulous murder mystery wrapped inside instead. This is definitely one of those books you DON'T want to judge by the cover! There is beer in the plot though! LOL!! So, it's not entirely without merit.

Ms. Amore did a fantastic job of penning a murder mystery! There was just enough clues to make unraveling a challenge and a lot of fun! You're dropped right into the middle of the action from word one, and there's no real let up. It's a super fast read! The chapters are short, the action is fast, and the writing is gripping.
This was a wonderfully executed book and I'm sincerely glad I had the chance to read it!

First of all, I love short chapters! It races up the paces a lot, literally. I find the book very interesting, action-packed and even though it's not quite detailed, I feel better that way because I still can understand the plot of the story. It may seems it is like a cozy mystery book, I still think the simplicity of the story doesn't means it is less complexity. The story is just got the balance of how to go deeper when it is needed and straight cut to the chase when it's near to brake the mystery. The best part, I didn't see it coming. There's a twist, as we all can guess what will happen at the end, and it never bores you no matter how many times you read mystery books. And this book is one of them. A good read and recommended!

This author has a very descriptive way of writing. I pictured myself in the scenes he was writing. I really enjoy when an author is able to do that. It makes me feel like I'm lost in the book.

I found this book to be slow in some spots, but then quickly pick up the pace. In some instances a bit too fast for me. That said, I did like the book though. This is a quick read book.

I love murder mysteries that have you guessing until the end. I was wondering why someone would be murdered over the reason the book was leading to.. (Don't want to spoil it) … There was a twist I didn't see coming. I was shocked.

An extremely fast-paced, entertaining, easy read—read it in one afternoon. Enjoyed the first person narrative and the Burr Ashland character. Also appreciated the setting—Milwaukee--as I live nearby. Amore’s use of succinct wording is appropriate for the pacing, but I found it a bit too abrupt in some cases. I would like to see more character development if the reader is to become emotionally involved--the book could have easily been 20-50 pages longer. Delving (even slightly) deeper into the players could have resulted in an emotional investment by the reader which would carry over into future Burr Ashland books. I plan on reading more from this author.

I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This was a great novel, and the characters were amazing. The scenes were quite descriptive, to give you the “I’m there” feeling. The story starts off with a murder and the immediate reason was a bit baffling until you get to the end. It truly had a, “Wow, I didn’t see this coming!”, moment. I was completely engrossed from start to finish. I loved the main character PI Burr Ashland, and felt really bad for him when things kept happening to people in his circle. I look forward to many more novels in this series!
