The Paladin Chronicles Book bundle 1-4: A Sword and Sorcery/ Alternative History/ Epic Fantasy

Over 1700 pages (6000,000 words) of Epic Fantasy, adventure, love, some historical fantasy and a light sprinkling of humour. All set in ancient times and exotic locations.
The story begins with Hakeem, a mercenary from the desert city of Karsh (in what is now Syria).
Growing up in a monastery, all he ever wanted was to become a religious monk.
He can’t understand why he was refused by the Grand Abbot, whom he loved like a father.
The old man told him he was destined to become something called a 'paladin'.
Broken hearted and penniless, he runs away making a long journey to join the desert mercenaries fighting in the Greek colonies on the western coast of Turkey.
Paladins were very rare , and the Shayvist monks believed they were sent by their God, each with a great task. The old Abbot didn't know that a second child had already been 'sent' but what possible task would require two paladins?
After fighting in a war in Greek Turkey, Hakeem rises to the level of a senior commander and is summoned home by the new Grand Abbot of his people.
Little does he realise, then, that he will soon be caught up in events that were prophesied two thousands years before.
The once mighty Elves are fading.They have lost almost all their magic. Their numbers are shrinking. They no longer live longer than humans and each year they have fewer and fewer children.
Their final destruction has been foretold and now the time is all but upon them.
They are destined to face barbarian hordes greater than the time of the Aryans accompanied by an ancient sorcerer who can command a demon army.
There seems little hope that it wont overwhelm them completely and destroy them without a trace.
Only through an ancient prophecy can they be saved.
Hakeem, an Elvish Princess and their adopted daughter join to flee assassins and begin the search for a way to save the Elves.

DNF. This could have been a very enjoyable series of books, but I didn't even finish book one, because it was extremely badly written. I tried multiple times, but couldn't get past how terrible it was.

average writing, poor editing. words changed from the norm just enough to be confusing - forcing the addition of a description I'm parentheses (yay - eyeroll). tropes, unlikely saves, traversing major distances in no time - or forever, depending on author's mood...

Have sword, will travel. (Oh, yeah… different Paladin!)
Great read! Set in a world with echos of Middle Earth, and featuring characters evoking Paksenarion, this book is a stunner. There is a lot of realistic description of heavy weapons combat (maybe Mr Port is a medieval recreation aficionado). There are many cultures involved in this series, and great care has been taken to matching key observations to halt the reader understand the nuances, without being pedantic. I really enjoyed this read, and will now go on to the next bundle with anticipation!

Fantasy and History
There are very many grammatical errors. I think the author does a very good job with research with the story line and geographical locations. What I did not care for was how quickly people fell in love. That could have been more realistic. I also like the language translation. Overall the author does a decent job with progression and transition. I would read more from this person.

WOW
Best book I have read in the last five years and I have read a lot.
I always like a good story that makes me laugh, but this book also made feel angry, on the edge of my seat and though I don't like to admit this a man who prides himself of my manliness, but I also had a tear or two in my eye a fair few times. The story is wonderful written with great characters full of depth and colour.

Outstanding.. like history relived through fantasy !
A long but excellent tale of the elves and the rise of two of Paladins as seen through the eyes of human civilisations that shaped the world throughout our history. Now, I'm not saying it's all truth, but the author's depth and detail lend the story a certain feeling that perhaps it could have been so ?

In a different history…
If the world had taken a different path. If elves and dwarves had shared our world with other magical beings. How would history be changed. Would Alexander be great. Would the Greeks have their empire? Or could these stories be true?

what an epic tale!
I just finished the first 4 books of a 7-book series. This series tells a story of epic proportions. I really enjoyed the first 4 books and look forward to the next 3.
