Great photos from an era forever gone. Although the author tends to generalize the lives of these artists and morph them together. A bit of romanticizing the poverty of blues musicians going on here. These guys weren't just master guitar players for white guys to treat as gurus and scholarly subjects. If anything these photos bring to life the realness of the men behind all that great music and melt away the facade of the stereotypical lost in time bluesman.
i've always loved country blues the best. sorry, even bb king and muddy waters get awfully tiresome after awhile but these acoustic bluesmen have subtle talent that doesn't hide behind amplification. features great photos and notes on my heroes like lightnin' hopkins and bukka white.
