Kami crosses dimensions to find true love, but her heart’s desire never left home.
Kami is faced with a heartbreaking truth; instead of being a member of the poor lower class who are allowed only one spouse, she finds the love of her life is an elite and bound by law to wed three wives to do his part to eliminate the poverty-stricken condition of their world. How can she stand to share him? Why can’t he be poor the way she thought he was when she fell in love with him?
USAToday bestseller, Charlene A. Wilson, takes you to other dimensions with her stories. She weaves magic, lasting love, and intrigue to immerse you into the lives of her characters.
A great world Charlene has created. A little love story with such a detailed fantasy world in another dimension. The way of traveling, the laws... such a detailed alternative way of living in such a small short story. I had some trouble here and there to keep up with all the information but it suits the storyline. So it did surprise me I couldn't read this story in one setting but I liked it none the less! Some parts I feel would have been a bit better if it was written in more words but I do believe that is part if the charm for other readers, so depends on the reader and therefor nothing to hold against this book or the author.
The ending of this lovely story gives you joy and warmth so I do recommend this to everyone who's in need for some emotional warmth.
In Wilson’s romance short story, she spins a tale of true love spanning time and dimensions that will inspire the reader to sacrifice everything to find their soul mate. Many short stories lack character depth and development, story plot, and often leave you hanging. Not this one. The reader will most definitely find all things a good story requires in One for Kami.
One for Kami is a delightful little read. The author does an amazing job developing Kami's character and the love story within the pages of this novella. I'm looking forward to more from this author in the future.
This a short sweet love story. A really unique world with its ways. I don't blame Kami for wanting it to be different. And I'm so happy with how it all ended ;) She had no idea what Ian was planning. :) Loved the characters. Cool description of the transfer to dimension two-three-two.
What a beautiful story. The characters are rounded and come alive. The prose is a banquet, so vivid and so rich with details that I almost felt I was there. This had an ending so wonderful for me that I'm still smiling a half an hour after.
Really enjoyed the story though it took a little bit to get into, and it being a short book made me wish for more once I started to really love the characters. Thought Kami was a little odd at first. Rash and brash, and somewhat off. But she was able to get me warmed up to her and I truly enjoyed reading her story! I think it was cute and a good read. Love Wilson's voice and everything she has written so far!
I thought this book was kind of confusing. There was no back story of the characters like usual and I barely read anything about the culture of their lives. Then it ended way too quick. I received this book for free in an exchange for an honest review.
This is an original and detailed short story and I wished it was longer.
Kami lives in a world where the elite must wed three wives - like her boyfriend Ian. But Kami is from a poorer class and her level only have one wife. That's what she expected and learning that she must be one of three sends her in a temper and storm of upset to seek a transfer to another dimension.
The young woman takes a basic job and looks for the right man. Only he's not easy to find. Meanwhile Ian is distraught, but he can't follow.
I did think that some scenes were padded out - too much description of the location of the transfer machinery, for instance. This is not important compared to the action and doesn't deserve so many pages. We flick through it swiftly to see what happens on the other side. That is why I am not giving this story a higher rating. The general setting description and the emotion of the story is well realised and the story is suitable for young adults or adults.
The summary basically sums it up, which leads to my only complaint--I wish it was longer! Kami can't stand the thought of being the first of three wives because what if Ian loves another better? She decides to sacrifice it all and leave, much to his dismay. She has some real possibilities in this new dimension, but realizes that real and true feelings are hard to get rid of.
At first, I thought Kami was acting a bit rash. If she's the first, chances are, he'll love her the best, but when I really thought about it, that would be easier said than done. If I were in her shoes, I'd probably feel the same way.
I loved the way it ended.
Content: no language or violence; a gay character who flirts with another man, a married man pursuing a single woman; I would consider it clean.
"One for Kami" is a fantasy, sweet romance. I loved the science fiction feel of the book. It reminded me of "Logan's Run" - a really old movie I watched as a kid and I can't even put my finger on why. I loved being transported into another world like Kami - another dimension. The descriptions were fascinating and there was a sense of awe threading through the book. I did find I struggled to understand some of the settings as they were so unusual but you almost got the feel you weren't supposed to understand. It was an alternate world anyway. The romance was sweet and touching.
If you have never read a book by Charlene Wilson this is the perfect place to start. This is a fast read but it is such a tender love story about making decisions concerning love and life and thinking you have made the wrong choice that will effect your whole life. Read this awesome fast read to find out just what happens and you will fall in love with Charlene's writing and will want to read all of her books!! Thanks Charlene I loved this one!
Normally I'm not really into historical type of romance, even with the extra of dimensions involved. I'm glad I don't live in a society of forced marriages before a certain age. But there was humor and a good ending so it is recommendable after all
What a glorious short story. This tale proves that love has no boundaries even in seperate dimensions. Two love-struck people become seperated due to unmanageable laws but despite all odds they are able to find each other again. This is the perfect feel-good book for a cozy afternoon read!
One for Kami a "Sweet" romance that takes you from Kami's home dimension, Two-Eight-Five to a new realm (for her), Three-Two-Three. We find out this dimension is actually ours, as she searches for one true love near Chicago after finding the man she fell in love with back home has to have three wives because he's one of the very rich in a poverty stricken world. She can't stand the thought of sharing him and leaves to try and forget him and start new. Doesn't quite work.
This is a "clean" read, meaning no sex, bad language, or violence. It also this means the characters (or author) and plot must carry the story instead of relying on what is so prevalent these days to keep the reader's attention.
This is such a sweet story!
