Once Upon a Time

Imani is a single, hard-working, family-oriented woman with high standards. She is determined to please her grandmother by advancing in her career, which requires most of her time. Life continues and Imani is faced with an unexpected loss. During her grieving process, she meets Daman for business and one thing leads to the next. Imani realizes she must make decisions in an area she feels less experienced – relationships/love.

“A Tempting Proposal” by Sherelle Green is perfect for readers seeking love in today’s society. I love the way the author creates scenes where you can sense the character’s emotions – attraction, love, romance. Well-written, inspiring, and full of romance, “A Tempting Proposal” is a page turner. Wonderful job, Sherelle!

The storyline had an easy flow and I enjoyed the connection between Imani and Daman. In some ways I saw myself in Imani's character, as far as family goes. The introduction of the characters made room for connecting stories which I hope will come. I recommend you pick up a copy of this page turning, it will not disappoint.

"Readers will definitely feel the heat as Green flirts with the line between erotica and romance. This story will make even the most skeptical person believe in fate and the idea of the universe working to bring two people together." RT Book Reviews, rated 41/2 stars

A Tempting Proposal by new Kimani Press author, Sherelle Green is absolutely fantastic. I really hated that Imani and Daman's story had to end.

Sherelle did an excellent job introducing Imani Rayne and Daman Barker to her readers. Their instant attraction and family connection set the pace for their relationship and ultimately their marriage.

Gamine, Imani's grandmother knew her nurturing granddaughter needed someone who she could count on and who would take great care of her. Their pairing was a match made in heaven.

I am really looking forward to seeing who Cyd will be matched up with in the second book of the series. If you haven't purchased a copy yet, you will definitely want to add this great read to your romance collection.

Loved this story of Match making from heaven. Damian and Imani were both powerhouses. They both owned companies with friends and also, worked in there family businesses. When the two find themselves trying to own the same property. They get more than what they bargained for.

I thought this story was a great story to see how 2 people who grew up playing with each other and not knowing who the other was when they became adults. Both families had know each other for some time and what a wonderful surprise it was to know that they parents were truly friends. I liked Imani and Daman's story how they were both after something and were determine to beat the other out until they realized that they were falling in love with each other. I really enjoyed this story.

A destined love

Imani and Daman’s Love was destined to be. Even when they didn’t realize it, others saw what was to be. Even in loss, they were able to find love and forever in each other.

Loved, loved,loved it

Damian and Imani's love was there before they knew and what a surprise to see all who was in on it. I was sorry to see the downfall of Daman's uncle but love how the story ended.

What I liked about this story is that both Imani and Daman had met as kids and didn’t remember. I love how this story was written…

Note that, in this review, I mentioned some developments in the story that may be considered spoilers. Readers who are familiar with the genre may see these developments coming from a mile away, but if you really want to err on the side of caution, it's time to stop reading.

Event planner Imani Rayne promised her late grandmother that she would purchase a lakeside estate. Apparently the dead hag, er, beloved old dear promised Rayne that Rayne would find some kind of answer there. Daman Barker has just taken over the family architecture firm when he's also down in town to purchase that same property. He promised his late father that he would purchase that property too, because the dead old dear also said that Daman would find answers and what not in that place.

The owners of that property insist that Daman and Imani spend some time working together to organize a charity fundraiser before they would decide among themselves who should buy the property. Alright, time to get the love engine moving...

The plot is not the strongest virtue when it comes to Sherelle Green's published debut. I saw it coming from a mile away, and I was hoping that I would be wrong, but no, the whole thing turns out to be one big plan to matchmake Imani and Daman. It doesn't make sense: these two spent just a bit of time together as kids, and somehow everyone knows that they are meant to be together? And they came up with this convoluted plan to get them shackled?

If I were dying, and I am a millionaire hag, I bet you I wouldn't spend my final moments plotting for my granddaughter's happiness. If she wants some zen in her life, I'd be happy to pay for a one-way ticket for her to meet some Indian guru, Tibetan monk, whatever, but otherwise, go away. But that's why I'm not a character in a romance novel.

Daman also behaves pretty creepily during the first half or so of the book. He's not an asshole or anything, but his persistence in getting a date from Imani and, later, acting like he knows what is best for her make him seem too much like those control freak guys than I'd have liked. He does get much less annoying as the story progresses, though.

There is also a mismatch of sorts. A Tempting Proposal is a mostly light-hearted comedy, but the author's style is rather ill-suited for comedy. Her idea of witty banter often lacks bite and scenes that are meant to make me chuckle only make me sigh at how poorly timed or built up they tend to be.

On the other hand, the author demonstrates an impressive affinity for more emotional scenes. There are many moments when I wonder whether she is better off writing more drama-driven romance stories, because the last third or so of this book is a very good read. Imani and Daman experience some intense soul-baring moments and emotional growth, and these moments are written in a way that often leave me feeling like I've swallowed something heavy in my throat. These scenes allow Daman and Imani to show me that they have depths, emotions, and vulnerabilities that allow them to become something more than mere stereotypes.

Oh, and for a book in this imprint, the love scenes are pretty intense. Okay, the author is too fond of going on and on about riding hard and waves crashing and other clichéd ways of saying that those two are shagging their brains out, but look, people. There's ice cubes involved and all.

Bottom line is, A Tempting Proposal is a very uneven book with a plot that doesn't work on a fundamental level. Then again, this is a debut effort, and the author demonstrates pretty memorably that she may just be impressive if she finds her style and tempo. I guess that's alright.

Amazon Headline: You can’t fight fate

Imani Rayne’s life changed the day her grandmother passed away; she once lived life but now she dismiss’ the idea of ever relaxing in love takes a back seat and taking care of family becomes a priority. But sometimes the very thing we hold back from is the very thing we need to jumpstart our living. But can Imani let her guard down long enough to experience love like never before?
Daman Barker also has challenges with those he loves. Losing his father was devastating, but right after that unable to handle the death of her husband; his mom checked out for a little while, then his uncle who stepped in to father Daman has a bunch of accusations beneath him that could cause another love lost for Daman. Will this lost cause Daman to shut down or can he love like it is the first time?
Someone once said “life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans” that is truly the story of Daman and Imani. I won’t go into much detail but I will say as they are contracted to plan a gala for one of Chicago’s wealthiest families “life begins” and the universe has it way with these two unsuspecting individuals.
Green has done an outstanding job with this story; I could feel the emotion from her characters which stopped my breathing at times. I had to exhale not realizing I had tensed up.
A tempting Proposal is dangerously tempting the lines between erotica and romance, while smoothly blending chemistry with seduction Green has pulled off a magical powerful romantic mystery, which I LOVED!!!

This is the first book in a series of 4 books (An Elite Event)so far that I have read. I didn't realize I had all the books in the series until I received Enticing Winter (Bare Sophistication) in my October shipment of books from Harlequin and there was a mention of the 4 books from the Elite Event series that mentions Taheim Reed from previous books. After locating my previous 4 books I starting reading about Imani and Damon of which I enjoyed from beginning to end.
Imani and Daman had met when they younger. Imani and Daman's family were once best friends. A death in Daman's family pulled the families apart. Imani's Grammie made her promise that upon her death that she was purchase a piece of property that she wanted from the Sims who were friends of both Imani and Daman's family. Daman's father also made him promise to purchase the same property from the Sims. The Sims wanted Daman and Imani to work together on an event and whoever did the best job would the property in question.

When Daman and Imani met for the second in their lives it was with the Sims to purchase the property and the chemistry was explosive from the beginning. They both had issues that they were dealing with but came to the conclusion that both were in love with each after 3 months. The event was a success and Imani got a proposal from Daman and they both ended up with two properties to share with each other.

If anyone is interested the books in An Elite Event are as follows: A Tempting Proposal, If Only For Tonight, Red Velvet Kisses, Beautiful Surrender and Enticing Winter (Bare Sophistication).
