Three girls unite in their realisation that keeping themselves nice has got them nowhere. It’s time to take action. It’s time to rebel. It’s time to become Bad Girls.
Imogen wants to get laid but how can she be a bad girl until she loses a few kilos and gets her body into order?
Beth is happy to be a bad girl - so long as no one else finds out and so long as she is in control.
Juliette’s not really sure what she’s doing there, but it sure beats another Saturday night gaming with her geek boyfriend.
They band together to form the Bad Girls Club, a support group for recovering nice girls, and through a series of brazen dares, push the limits of their sexuality.
But are the girls ready to finally take the final leap that will have them branded as bad girls for real? To save the club, and each other, they each have to publicly acknowledge their darkest secrets.
The Bad Girls’ Club – it’s about sex, it’s about dares but most of all, it’s about friendship.
Kathryn O'Halloran was told to write what she knows; despite that, she now writes erotica. She finds the research gruelling but she goes at it with guts and determination.
Her chequered work history includes time as a computer programmer, a phone psychic, a mystery shopper, a community television star, a maker of psychedelic fake fur handbags and wielding a machete on a vegetable production line.
Her work has been published in a number of anthologies and web sites and - at last - she has collected five of her best stories into DESIRE available at Amazon.
Her debut novel, THE BAD GIRLS' CLUB is now available.
I had a lot of fun reading ‘The Bad Girls' Club’. There was plenty of humor, a good dose of sexual heat, and the stories of how three very different women find themselves and good friendships through a dare club. I normally have my head buried deep in the science fiction/fantasy genres and I rarely come up for air so I really can’t say if this was a unique concept or not, but it was new to me. It read somewhat like a kinky chick-flick and the style reminded me of the “Diary of Bridget Jones’ movies. However, I very much approved of the fact that there was a lot less ‘must have a man and get married’ and in fact, the girls who started the book as single women ended the book as single confident women.
On the technical side, this book rates very well. I noticed maybe one or two minor typos, but otherwise the script was clean, grammatically correct and professional. The story moved along at a brisk pace and remained interesting throughout. Characters were fully developed and relatable. I think this book achieves exactly what it aims to achieve which is to be a light fun read with subtle undertones of women and sexual empowerment. I would recommend ‘The Bad Girls' Club’ to any reader looking for these elements and in fact, I’ve already suggested it to one of my own close friends.
I am grateful to Ms. O'Halloran for kindly providing me with a free copy for my honest review.
I read this book with my book club and, although it isn't the type of book that I usually read, I enjoyed it and found "The Bad Girl's Club" to be both well-written and quite witty. The book is essentially about three women who have lived straight-arrowed lives who decide at "frenemies" wedding to become bad girls through a series of dares. The book is humorous and well-edited. I have no doubt that women and older teenagers will enjoy this book, although I would add the caveat that some of the material is not suitable for younger readers.
An easy and yet enjoyable read, Kathryn O’Halloran’s ‘Bad Girls Club’ tells the story of three women who want to rid themselves of their good girl images in the search of something more. The three very different women provide the reader with some amusing anecdotes and racy details of their brazen bad girl dares. Beth, who is uptight and respectable, dreams of the life that society says she should have. Although she is happy to become a bad girl, it is only as long as she’s in control and no-one finds out. Curvy Imogen is matter-of-fact and straight to the point. Although she speaks her mind and seems confident, her quest to get laid is dampened by her low self-esteem. Juliette seems the most timid out of the three. She sees her life slipping away in a haze of Saturday nights spent on the couch with pizza, the Xbox and her harmless but boring boyfriend.
These three women, brought together by an overbearing, spoilt socialite, travel together on a journey of self-discovery, pushing their limits of self and sexuality to the very edge. Although the women experience vicious cat fights, erotic three-somes and high-society food fights, the ‘Bad Girls Club’ is more a story of self-discovery and friendship than hardcore erotica. Think the friendships and sauciness of ‘Sex and the City’ mixed with the awkward hilarity of ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ and you won’t be far off. O’Halloran has created a thoroughly enjoyable story with characters the reader can easily identify with and just the right amount of raciness to keep the reader hooked from beginning to end.

The bad girls club was great I couldn't put it down once I got to know the 3 girls. I could relate to a part of each of them! I love how the story took u into the mind of all 3 of the girls and u felt like u were part of the bad girls club. It had the right amount of erotic and even comedy in some parts. I know I love a book when I got to the end I wanted more of their stories. Would to love to find out where each of their hea is! Hope their stories turn into another book to find out where they end up! If anyone wants a great erotic but not too erotic read definitely a fun read should read this great book!
‘Good girls go to Heaven, bad girls go everywhere.’
What happens when the person you care about most she literally sweeps the floor with you? What happens when you live all your life in someone else’s shadow? When do you realize that enough is enough?
Poppy is so perfect. She is the best in everything she does and everyone loves her. Except, she treats people like sh**t. Beth is her cousin and always lives in her shadow. Juliette is Poppy’s best friend since primary school. Imogen is her personal assistant. They all care about Poppy, but she cares for them only when she needs them. The big day is here, Poppy is getting married. Of course she gets the most gorgeous guy in the world and of course the wedding is perfect. But the other three women find themselves together in the lobby and wander howcome the bad girl always gets what she wants. And they decide it’s time for a change. No more good girls. It’s time for Bad Girls’ Club.
Stepping out of your comfort zone can be scary. But the decision to turn another page in their life has been made and they don’t plan on turning back. Beth, Juliette and Imogen start the Bad Girls’ Club and every week they decide to do something that they wouldn’t normally do, like walking around with no underwear, buying sex toys, having sex on a public place, finally talking with that cute guy.
Three different women start the adventure of a lifetime. Putting themselves in such hilarious situations, they start the greatest friendship ever. Maybe buying sex toys is not the greatest adventure, but it’s definitely a start. They start learning to love themselves, as well as trust each other and finally seek from life what they deserve.
When good girls go bad, things tend to easily get out of control. The story is told from different POVs, each of these women sharing their perspective. I loved each of these characters, and they all made me giggle while reading their adventures. I love the way the characters are developed, they all mature and grow as the story follows. The author did a good job perfectly describing three very different characters, and I’m sure each of us can connect to at least one of these ladies. The story reminded me of an old song from 1989, “Good Girls Go To Heaven, Bad Girls Go Everywhere”.
Bad Girls ‘Club is an interesting and entertaining story that is very easy to read. It is my first book from this author, but definitely won’t be the last. Full of giggling moments, it’s the perfect beach read. The summer is almost over, but don’t let that stop you from reading this book.
Here we have three completely normal but, completely different girls. Beth who’s smart and classy, with a mouth of steel. Imogen who’s bubbly in both body and personality, with the classic food addiction. Shy, timid and lovely Juliette with the loser boyfriend. They’ve all been thrown together in despair by the poisonous Poppy. We all have a Poppy in our lives unfortunately. In Beth's case she's the cousin we all have who you secretly want to scrag by the hair every time you see her. For Imogen It's the classic take the piss boss routine. Worse of all is the old friend from forever who always belittled you and made you feel like shit. This being Juliette's case. After a good slagging session together at Poppy's wedding, all three drunk and knicker-less start their adventure of self discovery and friendship. The Bad Girls club is a dream to read. Taking the three girls and their different views and opinions and letting you explore each personality worked brilliant for me. The flow is just right and it's really funny. As much as it's about a club for the girls to show their bad sides, do dares and be bold. It's really about friendship. There is a bit of us all in every one of the girls and you can giggle away remembering past dramas in your own life similar to the ones here. It also covers some very delicate subjects for us girls too. I thought this was wonderful. Masturbation, Sexual Fantasies, Boob fascination, Vibrators. All taboo subjects that we only rarely discuss with our nearest and dearest friends. Kathryn O'Halloran has certainly pulled out a cracker here. She's been clever and confident with her characters and her personality and charm capture every page. It's fresh and current which takes it to another level. It's not too sexy but has enough in to be a tad racy. All in all it's a really good read. Really enjoyable. Full of drama, sex, cat fights, bitching, dares, and fun. As a girl you can’t really ask for more can you? If you're looking for a good snuggle down read, a beach book, a cant put down book this is for you.
PRICELESS!!! This book is completely and utterly priceless. I don’t remember the last time that I laughed so hard. I’m still laughing now. It was sheer brilliance.
Not only is this book very well written but O’Halloran has an unbeatable storyline that is so different from anything I’ve ever read yet completely based in real life. O’Halloran doesn’t depend on the supernatural or on overly fairy-tale-esque events. She takes things that happen to real people and weaves them together in a heart-warming and hilarious series of events. O’Halloran backs these events up with well-rounded descriptions of scenery and events without bogging her readers down with long, drawn out narrative lulls.
Best of all was how real the characters were. I absolutely loved them. They were so real, so open, and so funny. I wanted to meet them in person and join their club. They are three very different individuals, brought together through a common acquaintance who come to realize that true friendship transcends these differences. They also grow as individuals, realizing that stereotypes and prejudices can hamper them in their personal lives. These characters are also very well developed. O’Halloran walks a brilliantly fine line in their development. You find out all about them, without getting hampered down in unnecessary details.
While making you laugh out loud, this book really makes you stop and think about your life. It makes you contemplate stepping out of your comfort zone and finding the real you. It also makes you realize how important good friends and a good book are.
This was one debut book that I was really looking forward to reading since I’d read such great reviews about it already and I had to agree, it was pretty special. It had everything you could want from this type of story, as its proper chick-lit meets part erotica and a whole lot of fun in-between. It was a humour filled party and written in such a sassy style that you got to know each of the main characters in dept; flaws and all as you fully related to the realistic scenes and even with the spats and the awkwardness, you still wanted to be their friend anyway. The novel had a unique concept about three lovely ladies called Beth, Imogen and Juliette who were all feeling a little lost in their lives but they end up together with their knickers off sitting on a table at Poppy’s wedding (who they find that they all hate so they have that in common from the start and it continues to the bitter end) where they get drunk, bond and hatch a plan to behave like the modern woman they truly want to be from now on and so they form The Bad Girls Club, where they dare each other to be outrageous and sexy and perform acts that is far out of their comfort zones and way out of their normal everyday existence and sensible character. The girls each take it in turns to change their lives forever and they relish in the new relationships they’ve created and the sexual freedom they liberate and bring out in each other. And for me it was the perfect summer read as it was steamy enough but not too hot to handle in the heat of the day and I did chuckle throughout the night so thanks for the laughs, the friendships and where do I sign up to join the bad girls club?
While The Bad Girls Club is witty and entertaining, it is also uninspiring. Kathryn O’Halloran’s humor shines in this story. There were moments and situations where I felt the awkwardness and laughed aloud at her characters’ interjections. She is a very clever writer, but there were some aspects of this book that didn’t work for me. The exposition was much too long, and the dynamics between Beth, Juliette and Imogen were flat. The structure of the story is told through a weaving of their first person perspectives, but their narrative voices were too similar to differentiate. While I understand their goals are the same, their hesitancy or willingness to achieve those goals would have been more believable, more interesting, if they were at variance. What I get instead is a sort of snowball effect of further deprivation rather than a well-crafted plot. There are erotic moments in this story, like a devil’s three way, but they felt restrained. So much so, that there is a flash forward in that mentioned scene once the pants are dropped. I felt that scene was a crucial moment, a point where true character could have been revealed. Instead, it was just another check in the box of naughty things done. Overall, I liked the Bad Girls Club because of the author’s humor—she has great instincts—but the believability of the characters was lacking.
Oh my gosh. What I book. I must say, it evoked serious emotions in me. I empathised, I cheered, I wanted to binge on chocolate, and I was over the moon at the end. What a brilliant ending! For a moment there I was worried that they would never reconcile! The book did not follow a predictable path at all. There were ups and down and funny bits and sad bits. And even some ‘oh get over yourself!’ bits. Beth: She is so severe in the beginning, so unwilling to draw any ‘bad’ attention to herself but by the end she is the one that saves the day and brings the group back together. Juliette: I really liked her. She had spunk and considering how timid she was in the beginning, she rocked by the end. I think she grew the most. She dared more than the other two did and I am glad she is going to ‘end up’ with Satoshi. And who knows, hopefully Satoshi has Toms number. Yeah. That would be a great reunion. Imogen: She was the one most out there in the beginning, big mouth, the one driving the others on. But deep inside she was the most withdrawn. But she did walk the walk when she had to and she sure strutted her stuff in the end. And thank you so much for putting Poppy in her place. Yip. It was a really great ending. The author gave me this book in exchange for an honest review. There were a few word omissions, but it did not detract from the story.

The Bad Girls’ Club is a ‘girl power’ story about three girls determined to spice up their lives (Apologies for the Spice Girls references) after they meet at the worst wedding ever.
Imogen, Juliette and Beth are all very different characters and initially it seems like the group of new-found-friends doesn’t work, but it does. Over time the girls get to know more about each other, they forget about their hang-ups and they become true friends and as a reader you see that growth. How does it happen? Well, all through a grown up game of dares.
The Bad Girls’ Club is erotic chick-lit. Having avoided the Fifty Shades of Grey books, I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy this book, but it was so well written that the sex scenes seemed like a natural progression of the story and I actually enjoyed every part of it.
I loved the ending and the book seemed to be over in a flash because I couldn’t put it down.
Juliette, Beth, and Imogen embark on a journey of multiple dares in search of their inner bad girl. Tired of being a doormat and the nice girls they form a club dubbed "The Bad Girls' Club". The only thing they have in common in the beginning is their dislike for Poppy; Beth's self centered cousin, Imogen's boss, and Juliette's childhood friend. Their journey takes them from Nude beaches, strip Clubs, Sex Clubs to self discovery. It also helps them get the ultimate revenge against their nemesis Poppy.
Kathryn O'Halloran did an excellent job in creating characters that are realistic. We all know a Juliette -- an extra sweet quiet girl. Beth -- seems stuck up but sweet and never seems to get a break. Imogen -- seems tough but she is really a sweetheart. This is a charming story, that is funny at times, Sexy at others, and an all around joy to read.
I looooved this!!!! Oh straight from the Imogen's nude beach fantasy to quiet unassuming Juliette's daring transformation to a dominatrix, to Beth's silly yet predictable bathroom sex with her new boss, you got to laugh your head off. And while I didn't think the three friends who formed this club to change their lives around, will ever get back to Poppy, the made up all knowing, gossip loving, fake thing, they got her in the end. They've got her good, and it was a spur of the moment. By the end of the book all three had not only turned their lives around and found what ticks them, but they discovered that there's whole lot more to true friendship to be given up for being in Poppy's good books.
The Bad Girls' Club is an absolutely delicious blend of chick lit and erotica, and has many of the best traits of both genres. I loved the way the friendships between the three main characters developed, and how real they all felt - there was something in each that I related to. O'Halloran writes beautifully and I devoured this book in two days; the fact that the sex scenes are hot, hot hot! didn't hurt either. Definitely recommended for those who like their chick lit smart, funny and very sexy.
This book is a jolly lark! I found it very engaging and funny. The premise was interesting and well executed and I think for anyone who wasn't comfortable with the erotica aspect of the book, you could easily ignore those and read the book as a less racy chick-lit novel. I think the use of the different point of view characters worked really well, and showed how each of the three girls evolved over the course of the story.
A very interesting book written from the perspective of 3 different ladies with a common 'enemy'. The way their friendship developed is fun and touching. This is a book that will remind you of your true friends. :)
A foxy, fresh and fun tale of friendship with three women going in search of their inner bad girl. I love Kathryn's humour and writing voice... it's fantastic to get it in novel form! Moar pls Kathryn :)
What a great read! It was what you would get if you combined The Sweetest Thing with Fifty Shades of Grey. Did you think the Shades book needed more girl power and less wimpy girls 'murmuring'? This is what you need! Don't let the length scare you, it was definitely worth the time!
Laughed out loud funny read! All 3 main characters had me cracking up and I could relate to a part of each of them! Story had a nice flow to it! An entertaining read!
I usually love books like this but I just wasn’t invested in this one. I hated all of the characters and it wasn’t believable. The editing was also very sloppy! Such a shame. I wouldn’t recommend.
It was a frustrating read with the editing and possible formatting errors. Is it really too much to expect when someone fancies themselves an author that they have the book proofread before releasing it? The story line was interesting enough though. Three women feeling they are too dull and proper form a exclusive club to challenge themselves to live outside their comfort zone. They give each other dares to meet before each weeks' gathering of the Bad Girls' Club. These challenges succeed in showing the each of women they can be fun and exciting in and out of the bedroom, as well as showing the value of true friendship. The conclusion of the book does have a satisfying ending that does go a long way to redeeming the lack of proper grammar in some spots.
I enjoyed this book. At the beginning it felt a little like I was reading a foreign language film. There are so many slang terms for things I found there were several passages I had to re-read to fully comprehend what was going on. I was distracted enough by it that I had a hard time getting into the story being told.
Once I got past that, the characters were fun, complex and believable. They each experienced a "coming into her own" and the end result was a fantastically funny climactic scene.
If you want chick lit involving a trio of girlfriends whose seemingly silly dares culminate in personality freeing results, this is the book for you...
This was such a fun read. I read this book (along with four others) while on a cruise last week, and I couldn't have picked a better one to enjoy while lying by the ocean. I read it in one day because I just couldn't stop reading.
It was impossible not to love the three main characters, and they're so different from each other that most people would be able to identify with at least one. I found myself actually cracking up out loud at all the shenanigans these "bad girls" get into, and a few times even screaming at the antagonist.
Three girls with a common enemy unites together to form The Bad Girls' Club, giving each other dares they deemed to portray themselves as a bad girl. It is a very easy book to read and the girls are hilarious. Their sexy dares are most interesting to read bout. However, I didn't felt the bonding for the girls until the last 2 chapters when they stepped in to protect each other. The characters development could be better. Overall, it is an enjoyable and fast read.
You can't take yourself too seriously reading this. It's a filler, the buffer between the last great book you read and the next epic you'll set on. The prose is simple and incredibly easy to read quickly. I have to say the friendship between the characters could have been developed further and the book did end quite abruptly. There were some strings left open that I had questions about--it felt rushed.
I loved this book. First and foremost, this is a story about female friendships, and it's beautiful. Kathryn O'Halloran excels at characterisation, and in the Bad Girl's Club, creates three very different but equally loveable female protagonists. This isn't a book for nice girls though, these are modern, flawed women who sometimes do foolish or thoughtless things. But the way they work through their mistakes makes them so easy to relate to and adore.
Fluffy & predictable, but exactly the break I needed right now. I'm always bemused by how prudish women are in these "shed your old skin/realize the important things in life" books, though - I don't think many actual 20- & 30-something women these days are quite so closeminded.
