When Charlotte Halloran's husband was killed by a drunk driver, her heart died, too. Now, one year later, Charlotte and her teenaged daughter are boarding a cruise ship to take their minds off their loss. But when the Pearl of the Ocean's captain catches her eye, Charlotte wonders if "never" was God's idea or hers. Captain Gareth Van den Hout knows the pain of losing love. Three years ago, he lost his precious wife to cancer. His time aboard the cruise ship created a chasm of secrets between them and he's vowed it will never happen again. But when he sees Charlotte, Gareth is compelled to risk his heart and get to know the petite, black-haired beauty - even if only for a short time. Could the Lord have plans to heal and unite two broken hearts convinced "never" is forever?
I enjoyed the story of second love, but I didn't really care for the characters or how quickly the romance happened. The daughter annoyed me slightly during the cruise, but got better after that. All in all, some things I enjoyed, others not so much.
Charlotte a year later, from the death of her husband, a change and to honor a dream. To take their daughter on a. cruise, after graduating. It was a year early, but felt the time was right. On boarding, a pair of eyes, captured her, and penetrated deep within her, who ever that person was. An invite with a gold seal, to join the captain for dinner. Finding it was the same man, something in her quaked. Gareth a call to his heart, he didn’t want it to be denied, but he didn’t want commitment either. Beautiful love story coming again for two people. Enjoyable, the touch of it with a cruise, as thought, we also were invited.
After Charlotte's husband is killed by a drunk driver, she is convinced she will never love again. On the year anniversary of his death, she and her daughter decided to take a cruise and get away from things. Gareth lost his wife to cancer and is convinced he will never love again. However, the Lord has different ideas and even though they both fight hard to ignore the attraction they feel toward each other; eventually true love prevails.
After the death of Charlotte Halloran’s husband who was killed by a drunk driver a year ago Charlotte and her teenage daughter Chelle decide to go on a cruise. Charlotte meets the Pearl of the Ocean’s Captain Gareth Van den Hout and there is a mutual attraction to each other. Gareth had lost his wife to cancer a few years ago and never wanted to fall in love again. This wonderful story of a second chance at love was great. I really enjoyed this Christian romance fiction novel.
This book caught my eye because I have been following the author's blog with her great author interviews and book giveaways. It's a tiny book but packs a great story. I read it in a few hours, and I felt my time was better spent than watching TV. I liked the simple cast of characters and the main setting of a cruise ship. Thanks, Lena!
Another great book by Lena Nelson Dooley. I have read many of Lena's books and they have all been good. Join Charlotte and Chelle as they go on a Caribbean cruise a year after the sudden death of Philip, their husband and father. Charlotte has no desire to love and lose again and neither does Captain Gareth.
Wonderful writing, well balanced with unexpected twists and turns. Very emotional, with excellent timing. If you're searching for a good, wholesome novel that shows you what Romance should be between men and women, this is it. Kudos, be encouraged!
This was a very sweet story. I loved the cruise ship setting and the characters. My only problem is that I wish the story could have been beefed up a bit. I feel there could have been so much to the story. But in the end I like a good love story and this one is.
