About twice a month, I have a dream that I'm in my house and I discover a fish tank. It's dingy, overgrown with algae, and FULL of fish. They're swimming around and seem to be okay in the murky water, but I feel so horrible. I completely forgot that I had a fish tank. Those little guys must have been breeding like crazy just so they'd have something to eat.

Oh. Copy... PASTE. Travis Nichols is a writer illustrator in Brooklyn. He is the author and illustrator of a tidy heap of award-winning books and comics for kids and post-kids, including The Terribles (series), Betty's Burgled Bakery, Fowl Play, Matthew Meets the Man, and The Monster Doodle Book. He has played in more than a dozen bands you've probably never heard of (how's THAT for indie cred?!), and he enjoys meteorites and eating watermelon over the sink. Find him at iamtravisnichols.com.

This was strange, weird-looking, funny, and interesting...all rolled into one, and I thank VIZ Media for bringing me the experience of entering the Uglydoll world.
These short comic stories' plots bounce all over the place from wild to crazy to outright zany, and leave the reader always wanting more of this world and its' crazy characters. When you finish the books, you are left with a "What just happened?!?" feeling, but still wish you could have Vol.2 in your hands to read immediately as well.
Also, I love how the stories are tied together with postcards from various rooms/sections/parts of the house. Those postcards kept me laughing at each intermission.
I would gladly read more of this series.

This was a delightful and entertaining book. This book is quirky but cute. There were many laugh out loud moments. My children enjoyed the book as I did as well. I liked the illustrations as well. They were cool. The characters were original and I would love to read more from the creative minds behind these characters. Well done! I received this book for free as part of the goodreads first reads program.

Some of the stories are already printed during the free comic book day version. The new ones are pretty good too!
