Welcome to the NEANDERTHAL SERIES. It's like DINOSAUR EROTICA without the dinosaurs. Spoilers abound.
In the 1st story by Shayla Black, we meet our first NEANDERTHAL, Decker. He's learned how to pick up chicks using the worst pick up lines he could find on google. Our brain dead heroine finds this annoying onslaught of boorishness cute.
I hung on thru the painful dialogue of this book because I wanted to know what the heck Decker the NEANDERTHAL was going to do to win Rachel back once she found out the reason he picked her up in the bar and slept with her. Again and again and again. All in the name of protecting her from a lunatic who has put a hit out on her. And oh by the way, he paid Decker to make the hit. AWKWARD...
But the pay off is so bad. Poor Decker is worried this was only a fling for her. He is so relieved that he means more to her that he PICKS HER UP, THROWS HER ON HER BED AND TIES HER HANDS TOGETHER SO HE CAN FUCK HER BRAINS OUT. THEN SHE WILL KNOW HOW HE REALLY FEELS ABOUT HER.
Um, didn't she just almost die at the hands of the local whackjob? So you think the best thing to do is to tie her up and fuck her? RAGEY DOESN'T BEGIN TO EXPLAIN HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS.
In the 2nd story by Rhyannon Byrd we meet NEANDERTHAL #2, Ryder. He is a former black ops that had the hots for his boss' daughter so he split leaving her heartbroken cause she also had the hots for him. When her life is endangered she seeks him out.
He comes home one night and finds a beautiful female stranger hiding outside his house. He grabs her and immediately begins to molest her since she reminds him so much of Lily, the girl he had the hots for and never got over, even though he never did anything with her or told her he had feelings in his stalk for her. OH BUT WAIT, IT IS LILY. HE MUST PUSH HER AWAY BECAUSE HE ONLY GOES DOWN ON COMPLETE STRANGERS.
This guy is a complete head case but we don't know why until a tender cuddling moment near the end RIGHT BEFORE HE PUSHES LILY AWAY AGAIN.
Poor girl can't take a hint because SHE IS IN LOVE WITH A NEANDERTHAL.
Somewhere during this one my head began to swim from all the head hopping. One minute we're in Ryder's head, the next Lily's, oh wait back to Ryder's - OMG STOP I'M GETTING SEASICK
And how stoopid is this guy? There is a contract out on Lily and because she had the temerity to tell him she loves him after saving her virginity for him, he
1. runs out on her AFTER he fucks her brains out AGAIN
2. goes to a club and makes out with another woman
3. goes all caveman when he sees her kissing another man
4. rips her clothing off and goes down on her in a public parking lot
PLEASE SOMEONE SHOOT THEM ALL AND PUT US OUT OF OUR MISERY.
And just when you think it's over and OUR NEANDERTHAL HAS THE UPPER HAND, HE PUTS DOWN HIS WEAPON SO HE AND THE BAD GUY CAN HAVE A GOOD OLD FASHIONED FIST FIGHT. WHAT?
BUT WAIT IT GETS BETTER. All is well, the villain is vanquished and everything is sunshine, unicorns and lollipops, AND THEN THE HEROINE GROWS A PAIR AND DECIDES SHE NEEDS TO LEAVE BEFORE HE CRUSHES HER LITTLE HEART AGAIN.

Two RS short stories that were very light on the suspense, and very heavy on the bedroom action (which admittedly was verrrry steamy). Two hot alpha hero hunks, two heroines in distress. If you're a fan of either of these authors' series, you'll want to read this one. Some moments defied logic, but if you can put your brain on pause, you'll enjoy!

For Shayla's portion of the book "Wicked All Night" it revolved around Decker and Rachel. Decker is hired as a hitman to kill Rachel, but he turns into her protector. Rachel is a sweet school teacher who just recently got out of loveless marriage. Decker cracked me up with his pick up lines that he tried on Rachel. My favorite was "are you a parking ticket? Because you've got FINE written all over you." Of course this story has a happy ending but not before there are a few twists and turns. Great read, classic Shayla.
Rhyannon Byrd's part of this book "Make Me Yours" was fast paced, sexually driven, sweat pouring off your body goodness. This story is about Scott Ryder (aka Ryder) and Lily Heller. Lily is 8 yrs his junior and Ryder thinks he is no good for Lily. She was the dare devil teenager and he was the solider who was under her fathers leadership. Flash forward a few years and Lily isn't as little as she used to be. She finds Ryder because she needs his protection. What she wants most is for him to finally see her for the woman she is and possible make her his forever. The man can brood with the best of them. He is stubborn to a fault but wants Lily safe and trust me she has brought a whole world of danger to their doorstep. The man has some mad oral skills also. The dirty talk is ridiculously sexy. These 2 set the sheets on fire and practically combust with sexual chemistry. Rhyannon put their encounters on such a primal level it felt like if these 2 didn't get it on, the world would explode. Loved loved loved this story.

Wicked All Night by Shayla Black is #7.5 in the amazing Wicked Lovers Series. I can't get enough of this series. Shayla Black is the queen of writing the PERFECT DOM! Decker McConnell is no exception. I am so happy he got his own happily ever after. Even with his cheesy pickup lines, and when I say cheesy, I mean CHEESY, he can still make a woman melt right in front of him. And that includes a certain elementary school teacher. When Rachel meets this gorgeous guy at her birthday party, she owes it to herself to get back in the game and just have a one night stand with this sexy MAN! Oh boy! She has no idea what she is in for, and neither does Decker. Rachel isn't the usual type of female he goes for, but one dance on the dance floor and he is hooked, he will do anything, and kill anyone that tries to harm a hair on her head.

This is also my very first read from Rhyannon, and I have to say the minute I finished Make Me Yours, I was on the computer searching for Book 1 in the series Take Me Under. This can definitely be read as a standalone, but believe you will want more of these characters. When we first meet Scott Ryder, he is dripping in sweat and in a foul mood. This former Black Op had an uneasy feeling for weeks now, and he is about to come crashing in to the reason for that feeling. Ryder and Lily's first encounter, let's just say I had to read the scene over and over because it was THAT HOT! Jesus, to have me panting in the first chapter, you definitely have me hooked!
"I like the thought of doing everything with you Lil. Every raunchy, dirty, explicitly sexual thing you can think of. There isn't any part of you that I don't want to violate and own."
Ryder and Lily have a past. A past where they had chemistry but they wouldn't act on it. Ryder would always have excuses to not lay his hands on Lily. She's too young, too innocent, and her father was his boss. Finally, he had to get away, he left her with no explanation at all. Years later, she stumbles back in his life because she needs help, the only kind of help that Scott Ryder can give her. A horrible ghost from both of their paths are after Lily, and he will stop at nothing to protect what's his, and Lily is HIS! Make Me Yours has a ridiculously hot sex scene that is going in my Top Ten! Let's just say that the location of this scene is on a Porsche, outside, where anyone can see! I know! HOT right? That scene alone would have Rhyannon Byrd on my authors to watch list for sure!

Wicked and Dangerous combines novellas from Shayla Black’s Wicked series, and Rhyannon Byrd’s Dangerous Tides series, giving the reader two steamy, well written experiences in one book! I’m a huge Shayla Black fan and have read every single one of the Wicked books so I was really looking forward to Wicked All Night. I have read some of Byrd’s books but did not read the first story in the Dangerous Tides series and thankfully Make Me Yours was written in a way that I didn’t feel like I was behind or missing any information.
Wicked All Night is Decker McConnell and Rachel Linden’s story. At the very beginning of the story we see Decker with Xander and Javier, who are his bosses, but that is the only glimpse we get of the core group from the series. One of the things I enjoy about the Wicked group is the way that the people are always in each others lives, but since it was a shorter story I knew the focus had to be on the couple.
Decker has been approached by a man who tries to hire him to kill a woman who lives in the town where Xander and Javier now reside. After seeing a picture of the beautiful teacher, Decker “accepts” the job in order to buy some time and try to get close to Rachel, while protecting her as well. While out at the bar to celebrate her birthday, Decker approaches Rachel and hits on her in order to get close. While his interest in her is genuine, you just know that before the story is done she is going to find out why he’s there, and it won’t be pretty.
Ms. Black writes her sex scenes flawlessly and I loved that there was realism in the story in that Rachel was insecure about her body and her sexuality after her divorce. Her ex-husband had put her down and made her feel inadequate sexually, and watching Decker work to make her comfortable with herself made me cheer for him even more. It also made Rachel much more relatable for me and allowed me to connect with her.
The nature of the short story required that things move at a fast pace but I didn’t feel like I “missed” anything if that makes sense. Decker works at figuring out who is threatening Rachel and the entire arc takes place over a very short period of time. I was wrong with who I guessed was behind the threat to Rachel and I love being wrong when I’m reading. Overall it was a very satisfying story and I hope that we have the chance to get to know Decker and Rachel more in future Wicked books!

Make Me Yours revolves around Scott Ryder, a sheriff’s deputy, and Lily Heller, the daughter of his former boss. Lily shows up on Scott’s door one night on the run after witnessing her father’s murder at the hands of a terrorist that is now chasing her. After thinking he had killed Radovich in their last encounter, Scott agrees to protect Lily despite the obvious history and chemistry between the two.
The tortured hero trope is one I will never get tired of and its clear that there is some messed up stuff in Scott’s childhood. He has stayed away from Lily in an attempt to “protect” her and she is not having any of that. At every turn she tries to tempt and tease him in order to get him to give in on his obvious attraction to her and the chemistry between them is hot! As he works to eliminate the threat to Lily, Scott is unable to resist her for long, but he battles his inner demons while trying to convince himself that it is just sex.
Again, as is necessary with a shorter story, the action plays out fast and there is a resolution fairly quickly. If I had any complaints it would be that Lily never really seemed to grieve for her father, but since the story only spans a few days that could explain it. Overall it was well written and crazy hot and this is a series that I will definitely keep up with.

Wicked and Dangerous is actually 2 short novels in one book Wicked All Night by Shayla Black and Make Me Yours by Ryannon Byrd.
In Wicked All Night Decker McConnell is a former military/CIA operative turned corporate security specialist, when he is approached by a man in a bar mistaking him for the man he hired to kill Rachel Linden he plays along then sets out to find out who wants her dead.
Decker uses seduction as a means to get close to Rachel and soon finds he is in way over his head with this woman. Rachel has been divorced for a year and is ready to find herself a one night stand, how was she to know it would turn into so much more.
This book is hot, Hot, HOT! with Decker seducing Rachel right from the start we have some seriously intense sex scenes that will leave you needing a cold drink and a hot man.

With Scott doing what he can to protect Lily while trying to stay out of her bed he is slowly making himself crazy, fireworks explode when he can't keep away any longer.
This story has a lot of action both in and out of the bedroom. Scott has some serious emotional issues to deal with from his past and Lily has the trauma of having seen her father murdered. There are times when it feels like I was missing some of the back story someplace but it all works out in an exciting and sexy short read.

In Wicked All Night Decker McConnell is a former military/CIA operative turned corporate security specialist, when he is approached by a man in a bar mistaking him for the man he hired to kill Rachel Linden he plays along then sets out to find out who wants her dead.
Decker uses seduction as a means to get close to Rachel and soon finds he is in way over his head with this woman. Rachel has been divorced for a year and is ready to find herself a one night stand, how was she to know it would turn into so much more.
This book is hot, Hot, HOT! with Decker seducing Rachel right from the start we have some seriously intense sex scenes that will leave you needing a cold drink and a hot man.

Rachel and Lily are both weak and dumb. I hate a woman that has no backbone. It's just too annoying to get past. And - they have sex and he discovers she's a virgin - she says she was saving herself for him. He sees the blood when they have sex. Then he asks her if someone had raped her? He forgot already? LOL come on now. Plus - Narrator Aletha George is TERRIBLE at doing a male voice. She reads every line like the man is yelling. It's always so rough and clipped. You can't enjoy anything she reads because the way she speaks doesn't match the text or correct infliction of the words. You get what I'm trying to say.

The story or Decker and Rachel had me cracking up. I laughed out loud and I swear people had to think I was crazy if they witnessed me listening to this in my car while driving - OMG Decker!!
Best pick up line I've never heard: "You here with all those curves and me with no brakes."
The bonus story I didn't even realize I was getting with this Make Me Yours by Rhyannon Byrd was also thoroughly enjoyable!

My 4 star rating is for Rhyannon Byrd's Make Me Yours.
I've never read anything by her before, but I will be reading more! Even though this story was pretty predictable, I loved the characters - both separately and together. The sex scenes were HOT and Ryder was a fantastic alpha hero.
I started reading Shayla Black's story but didn't finish. It wasn't holding my interest.

Ya no soy esa jovencilla que se sorprendió con los primeros dos libros de esta serie. Ya no me sorprendes y tus hombres ya no me parecen sensuales, sólo unos neandertales que merecen morir en el infierno (o en el cielo, porque a lo mejor el infierno es divertido para sus almas "oscuras" y altamente sexuales... en fin). De vdd fue agradable conocerte, pero ya no te quiero ver nunca más en mi lista de lecturas. Igual sigues siendo una de las primeras escritoras de BDSM que leí y aunque esta no fue una buena historia, recuerdo que solías escribir unas escenas de sexo bastante buenas, así que sigo considerando que eres mejor escritora de erótica que otras que tienen fama no merecida *cof cof* E.L. I typically don’t read anthologies. The stories tend to be too short and leave me wanting more. While this was the case for both the stories in this book, there was one story I ended up really enjoying. The other unfortunately fell a little flat.
Wicked All Night by Shayla Black
Decker works for a security firm. He’s the typical alpha male, reveling in his various conquests. So when he gets wind of a hit being put on an attractive teacher, he figures he can have a little fun with her while he protects her. His plan backfires when he ends up being completely captivated by Rachel. Will he lose the woman he’s beginning to love to an assassin, or will he be able to figure out who’s after Rachel before it’s too late?
Alpha males are usually hit or miss for me, but I absolutely loved Decker! From the moment he introduced himself to Rachel by saying corny pick up lines, I totally adores him. He’s the rare alpha male who is actually very in touch with his feelings, which is very refreshing. Rachel is also very likeable, although the reader doesn’t get her point of view as often as Decker’s.
Since this is a novella, everything happens very quickly, both with the romance and the assassin plot. While it didn’t bother me so much with the romance, the assassin plot seemed to suffer due to the brevity of the story. All in all though, I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more of Shayla Black’s work.

Three years later, Lily’s life is in danger, and Ryder is the only person who can help. As their old feelings reignite, Ryder will do anything to keep Lily safe. Will they be able to capture the man threatening her before it’s too late?
The reader comes into the story three years after Ryder left. Thus, we don’t really get to see what it is about Ryder that Lily loves and vice versa. Unfortunately, neither one of them comes off as very loveable during the course of the story. This is especially true for Ryder, who I was never able to like.
While the story description makes it sound like there’s a suspense plot, in reality, most of the story is sex, with the last 5 percent wrapping everything up. It just never really caught my interest, which is unfortunate, considering how much I liked the first story.

Wicked All Night - 4.5 Stars It's been a while since I've picked up a Shayla Black book and read it from the first word 'til the last page without stopping but WICKED ALL NIGHT was engaging and entertaining and didn't let my interest stray.
Decker is the type of Dom I like. He doesn't take himself soooo seriously in everyday life. He can still joke around and flirt, even with his horrible pick up lines. He's endearing and you can't help but like him immediately. Then he's also mysterious and tough and every inch the bad boy that I like to swoon for. Perfect combination.
He truly makes Rachel feel like a million bucks, when she otherwise doesn't have that high opinion of herself. She thinks she's plain and nothing about her should be appealing to a guy like him. She also has a contract on her head. Yeah someone wants her dead and Decker is making it his purpose to protect her until he figures out what's going on.
WICKED ALL NIGHT is sexy and funny and it made me remember what I loved about Shayla Black's writing!

Intrigue and chemistry. MAKE ME YOURS is the second story in the Dangerous Tides series by Rhyannon Byrd and as the first book, is high on the sex appeal. I think at times the "smexy times" might've overpowered the common sense of the story and I didn't find it as believable.
I had some of the same issues that I did with the first book. Some of their encounters were the last thing that would've crossed my mind at the time (like when she first showed up at his house and he didn't know it was her yet).
WICKED AND DANGEROUS is an enjoyable read that definitely turns up the heat!

This book contains 2 stories: 1 from Shayla Black, "Wicked All Night", that's part of her Wicked Lovers series, and 1 from Rhyannon Byrd, "Make Me Yours", that's part of her Dangerous Tides series. I bought the book for the Wicked Lovers series story, 'cuz I'm a fan... sort of. But I found myself enjoying Ms. Byrd's story as much or more than the one I bought the book for!
In "Wicked All Night", we have Decker McConnel, who's part of Xander's and Javier's Lafayette, Louisiana security company. While having a brew, Decker was mistaken for a hired hit man and propositioned to murder one Rachel Linden, an elementary English teacher. Decker "takes" the job, deciding to protect Ms. Linden from whoever wants her dead, while desperately trying to figure out WHY. She seems to be a beautiful, shy, divorced 29 year old with nothing to hide.
It's a case of love-at-first site for him... which, yeah, is irksome. For her, it's lust-at-first site, which is kinda fun in the switcheroo. He's the one trying to have a relationship, while hiding the fact that he's been hired to kill her at the same time that he's trying to catch her killer... but keeping it all hidden from her. Confused? It's definitely a weird scenario, especially when we meet her ex, and Decker gives him not only the once-over, but the what-for.
But it's kinda cute, very steamy & sexy, and all's well that ends well.
In "Make Me Yours", Scott Ryder is ex-military who still hasn't gotten over the one girl he could never have: Lily Heller, his ex-commnander's daughter. Lily is 10+ years younger than Scott, and while he desperately lusts after her, he can't seem to allow himself to date her. Except he fantasizes about her all the time - enough so, that the opening scene is a doozy! Scott bumps into a strange woman hiding out near his front door; without so much as looking at her face, the guy is suddenly pawing at her clothes and touching and licking her all over. Really?
But it's an interesting mystery... and there's enough steam and angst between Lily and Scott to make you want to turn the page to see what will happen between them next. Yeah, we know how it'll end; no surprises even in what kind of situations and endings are going to happen. But I enjoyed the ride.

WICKED ALL NIGHT
I was surprised that there is a HEA story for Decker McConnell. Decker is the man that Xander Santiago goes to when he has a problem that needs to be handled. We have seen him in several of the books that Xander has been involved in. He is what almost all alpha males are quite, intense, and efficient. He is also loyal, deadly and very possessive of Rachel Linden. I was surprised that he had a wonderful sense of humor. It is always nice to be able to laugh with the characters in a story. I was also pleased that he would take time to find out who wanted to assassinate a woman he didn't know.
Rachel is a little on the clueless side. I don’t think many people are as aware of the surroundings as Special Forces ex-military people are. Unfortunately Rachel is easily distracted and therefor an easier target. She is a caring, compassionate person as so many good teachers are. She is also a loyal friend and she believes the best in people. I was glad the Decker introduced her to London and in doing so introduced her to all the other ladies of this series. I am sure they all need to stick together being married to the men that they are.
This is a quick read and it would have been great if it had been longer. Don’t get me wrong Ms. Black did a good job of providing a history for Rachel and a little more detail on Decker. There is a psycho that is after Rachel for the dumbest reason. That doesn't crazy has to have a good reason. There is lots and lots of wild monkey sex throughout. There is one little scene with some bondage. While it is obvious that Decker is a Dominant there isn't enough time for him to get into full Dom mode in this story.

I was also pleased that he would take time to find out who wanted to assassinate a woman he didn't know.
Rachel is a little on the clueless side. I don’t think many people are as aware of the surroundings as Special Forces ex-military people are. Unfortunately Rachel is easily distracted and therefor an easier target. She is a caring, compassionate person as so many good teachers are. She is also a loyal friend and she believes the best in people. I was glad the Decker introduced her to London and in doing so introduced her to all the other ladies of this series. I am sure they all need to stick together being married to the men that they are.
This is a quick read and it would have been great if it had been longer. Don’t get me wrong Ms. Black did a good job of providing a history for Rachel and a little more detail on Decker. There is a psycho that is after Rachel for the dumbest reason. That doesn't crazy has to have a good reason. There is lots and lots of wild monkey sex throughout. There is one little scene with some bondage. While it is obvious that Decker is a Dominant there isn't enough time for him to get into full Dom mode in this story.

Shayla Black's story was definitely too short for me. I'm a big fan of the wicked series & wish that Decker's story Wicked All Night had been a little longer. It was definitely hot though & surprised me at how fast Decker fell for Rachel. Someone put a contract out on sweet Rachel & thought Decker was who they were looking for. Trying to find out who did it before he has to tell her that's why he's hanging around is his plan, but like all good plans things go wrong. It was nice to see Xander, Javier & London again as well. Looking forward to the next installment in the Wicked Series(I hope there is one). The 2nd story Make Me Yours by Rhyannon Byrd was awesome. Unfortunately I didn't realize that it was an add on or finish 1.5 kind of from the 1st story in this series. I would've liked to read the 1st story before this one but that's the way things have been going for me with series. Scott Ryder is definitely very alpha male & HOT, Lily was coming into her own with him & I was surprised by her innocence when it got to that point. Ryder was trying to stay away from Lily & she was determined to get closer even if she didn't need his protection. The past comes back to get them after her father(Ryder's former C.O.) is killed in front of Lily. Ryder's alpha male really shows when Lily is around & WOW does it get hot. Really liked this book & will be reading the others in the series as well.

Wicked & Dangerous is a collection of two novellas, and a prime specimen of erotica at its finest. The first story, Wicked All Night by Shayla Black chronicles Decker, mistaken for a hired killer, who is contracted to kill Rachel. Instead of following through on the contract, he decides to investigate who it is that hired him and to protect Rachel from any other would-be assassins. While this is a story we’ve heard before, Ms. Black crafts it beautifully. Make Me Yours by Rhyannon Byrd is the story of Lily & Ryder. Lily is the daughter of Ryder’s former Army commander and comes to him for help once her father is killed. Since she was a teen she’s had a crush on Ryder, but due to their eight-year age difference, and Ryder’s allegiance to her father, he will not pursue a relationship with her, even though the sexual attraction is off the charts. Wicked Dangerous is a five star read that was not only an easy read, but pleasurable as well. It was well written, by both authors, and is a great way to become acquainted with two different authors at one price.
