A practical and realistic guide to help you find passion in your career.
What could be better than waking up every morning and looking forward to going to work? After all, most people spend the majority of their lives at work, and recent statistics reveal that four out of five people are “unhappy” in their current jobs. This is an epidemic J.P. Hansen calls The Whine Flu. The Bliss List is the cure. On a spiritual, conceptual, and practical level, The Bliss List will: • help you discover what makes you happy • help you identify skills you have and those you need to gain to achieve your goals • guide you through the important process of building a great résumé • provide actual interview questions—including off-the-wall ones—and offer the answers that nailed job offers • help you decide whether or not to accept a particular job offer when it comes along— even if you think you must take it because you need the money

After reading a Reader's Digest article, I picked up this book with high expectations. What I discovered was a treasure trove of content with prose that read like a novel. This book really is two books in one and I loved how the author tied it all together. I'm already seeing improvement in all facets of my life. This is a must read for everyone, regardless of age!
This is the most helpful book I've ever read. The advice is straight-forward and it changed my life in many ways, beyond work. Life is meant to be fun and J.P. Hansen provides a roadmap to fun in every facet of life. I loved the first edition, but this one is even better!
This book was mentioned in Pink Slips and Glass Slippers so I decided to read it. Though this genre isn't usually my cup of tea, I really enjoyed it. I can see where J.P. gets the character Shane in Pink Slips and Glass Slippers. This is like having your own life coach! Both of his books inspired me, but especially this one.
I met J.P. Hansen on Hilton Head Island and the musician at the restaurant was raving about his books so I decided to download them. I loved The Bliss List! I am already re-reading it since there was so much useful information. J.P. is a nice guy and a gifted writer and this book is great for deciding what your life's calling truly is.
This is the best business book I've ever read (and I've read hundreds of them!). In addition to great advice (which helped me land my dream job), it is fun to read. I don't like business books that require 3 dictionaries to read and J.P. Hansen's conversational prose is appreciated!
The endorsement on the cover says it all: "A career-transforming, life-changing must-read!" This book has already changed my life in so many beautiful ways. J.P. Hansen is a great teacher because he shares his wisdom so eloquently in this amazing book!
I met J.P. Hansen at an event and his book The Bliss List was exactly what I needed. I've gone through a rough past year and this book inspired me in so many ways, not just job related. The Six Spokes of Bliss is a great way to simplify what can seem like a complicated life. I've started meditating/visualizing using J.P.'s techniques and my headaches are infrequent and I'm feeling much better. I did my Bliss List recently and so far, 3 things have come true. This is by far the best, most useful, book I've ever read!
I'm in the middle of a job search and still uncertain about what I really want to do. This book has been a Godsend. There are so many useful tips for anyone, not just a job seeker. It's refreshing to read, unlike several of the career books I've read.
My parents bought this book for me and usually, I thank them and toss it in my closet where it sits unread. For some reason, this book appealed to me (catchy title). I must say it was the greatest gift (aside from life) they have given me. I've read it 3 times and have my Bliss Board, Bliss Jar, and ordered Bliss Cards. So far, some amazing things have happened including a new job that I love.
I met J.P. on a flight recently and I was impressed. He had a great aura: he could make me laugh even though most around us were complaining. I loved The Bliss List! I have been in need of a pick me up and this amazing book did the trick. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with the world J.P.
I noticed this title in another book titled, "Pink Slips & Glass Slippers." I wondered if it was a real book. Well, let me say that though it's different from Pink Slips, it sure is a great read. I'm trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up (LOL), and Bliss List definitely helped. I just did a Bliss Board.
I downloaded this book after reading Pink Slips and Glass Slippers. I thought it was clever how J.P. Hansen mentioned this book in the novel. Now I see why I read his novel, because it led me to this book. I'm excited to see if my Bliss List works, but so far a few interesting things have happened (since reading this book).
I bought this because it was mentioned in Pink Slips & Glass Slippers. Quite a bit different book but both were incredibly uplifting. I'm going to re-read this one since there was so much intereting content. It's like having my own life coach.
After reading (and loving!) Pink Slips and Glass Slippers, I picked up this book. I can see where the life coach character in the novel came from. J.P. Hansen sounds like Shane, lol, or vice versa. I usually don't read this type of book, but I'm glad I did. It will help me in my job search and I am a list person, so I already did my Bliss List. Just doing some of the easy fill-in-the-blanks in the book were helpful in getting my mind set on meaningful happiness. If I find my dream job, J.P. Hansen is a genius; if not, it's probably not his fault.
I have read dozens of self-help books but The Bliss List is right up at the top. Unlike several books, this one is very easy to read, yet provides wisdom with depth. I love the 6 Spokes of Bliss and I just completed my bliss list, so we'll see what happens. I've already seen some interesting improvement in things...
This book is the reason I landed in a dream job. Needless to say, the practical advice (the book is really two books in one) works--the resume, sample interview questions and answers, and working with recruiters all helped, but the first part of the book, the mystical, helped me the most. This is the best business book I've ever read and I strongly recommend it.
We're reading this for work, as JP Hansen is our keynote speaker for our Business Expo this fall. Happily, most of us have discovered that we already have our dream jobs - or at least something close to it.
There's some good advice for interview techniques and resume building, though some of the advice shouldn't be needed. Wearing office attire for an office job interview should be common sense, but as long as people still show up in sweats and a t-shirt, I guess people like Hansen still need to say, "Hey, wear a suit!"
Narrowing down your passions was interesting, but it quickly became clear that this book is primarily targeted toward sales and management folk - people whose bliss list requires 6 or 7 figure salaries. A lot of us would love to follow our bliss but still need to pay the bills or coordinate employment around family/children/location needs. Still, there's valuable information in it for any job seeker, and in the market these days, folks need all the help they can get!
The first part of this book was very helpful! I found myself taking lots of notes and feeling very inspired. The second half of the book had less to do with me, as my dream job is not the kind he speaks of and isn’t a part of the normal format. (Self-employment of a small business from home.) Nonetheless, I really appreciated this book and still would say 4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I felt like this is a good book to help me get my life in order. It makes perspective a little more clear and has some awesome tips for resume building and helping find your bliss! I found this book at the dollar store and it was a great buy!
This is my favorite book because it packs so much amazing useful information yet is easy (and fun) to read. I will keep this on my shelf forever and I'm sure I'll keep re-reading it.
This book helped guide me (more like prod me in a good way!) to a new and much improved job. I love the writing style and advice and wouldn't be where I am today without reading it. I strongly recommend this book for everyone!
Geared towards the business crowd but includes a few exercises to help you narrow down what makes you the happiest-your 'bliss list' and includes good resume info near the end. Recommend for grads, job seekers, and anyone trying to figure out what they want.
Pretty noteworthy in some areas... less annoying than the genre trends, and some seemingly useful tips on resumes/interviews. Early chapters touched on manifesting though positive thoughts and frequently updated big dreams... The practicality of some of the advice did seem questionable/debatable, but as most career advice is anecdotal anyway I didn't find this to be of issue. Overall, I enjoyed it and plan on rereading it and maybe taking a few notes (regardless of whether it proves useful or not it is somewhat inspiring in the nudge to prune problematic relationships and to act with honed intent/focus, if nothing else that confidence/optimism should carry some degree of placebo effect).
[Reading the book actually even made me somewhat happy by reminding me of a dear friend of mine who has similar dream habits and beliefs/advice regarding moods and relationships.]
Had high expectations due to good reviews and ratings on here but I was disappointed.
Almost gave up while I was halfway through the book but I persisted and finished it in the end. The second half was more relevant to career development. It's about boosting up your resume, how to answer interview questions and how to act professionally with the potential employers. Was pretty sound advice.
The first half was about some spiritual believe-in-yourself kind of preaching. It also doesn't focus much on knowing what you want and where to go in your career.
Seems to me it's just a typical career advice book. Not really worth the read.
