China...a Christian movement numbering in the tens of millions. The rapidly expanding economic power of the most populous nation on earth puts China front and center in any discussion about the future of the globe. But is there more to China’s story than money? Christians in North America have many questions about the People’s Republic of China and what is rumored to be a Christian movement numbering in the tens of millions. Christian China is the essential guidebook for North American Christians to understand and pray for their sisters and brothers in China’s cities. Readers will find not only facts and data, but also true accounts of Chinese believers’ great exploits as they follow the Holy Spirit into the future.
Excellent current history of the church in China moving from the rural to urban and adjusting to the 21st century Chinese situation with some government freedom but still the chance for draconian crackdowns very possible. Quick reading, personal, anecdotal, a handy appendix with a brief historical timeline, the only thing missing was a map of China with all the various regions and cities labeled.
This is a short book that gives personal accounts of what is happening with Christians in China. Some parts of the book were tedious at points but overall this was a wonderful book. One major point I got from this book is how the North American church is suffering from similar problems to that of the churches in China namely immaturity. There is one stark contrast between the two on this point; we have reversed to this condition and they are in their infancy. China is ripe for the harvest and we will see great things from the Church there, I believe.
The stories contained in this book are truly amazing...such a wonderful and inspiring picture of what Christian life under oppression looks like and the unexpected joy that it can bring. It reinforces just how fortunate (or coddled) we are in the West.
This was a good book with a lot of the history of China church in the past 40 years. As someone who has lived in China for 19 years and seen what these people talk about I think they did a great job. See the Chinese church and the struggles they have gone through and what is to come.
