Under her "real" name, Vonna Harper has published more fiction than she can keep track of . These include category romances for the major players as well as the 'juicy' stuff. She also penned a series of well-received Native American historicals. One earned her finalist status in both the Women Writing the West Willa award and Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association. Before discovering romances, both erotic and otherwise, Vonna 'confessed' all kinds of nonsense for the confession magazines.

When asked about erotica research, she insists, "Of course I've time-traveled to the ancient Everglades, infiltrated bondage strongholds, done wilderness search and rescue, and spent a night trapped in a workout gym with Mr. Universe. How can I possibly write about something I haven't experienced?"

As for day jobs, "I've been a commercial pilot, brain surgeon, worked as a white-water river guide, bee keeper, snake charmer, and garbage collector."

I'm not sure how to review this.

After I'd read the first half of this book I'd already decided it was a 1 maybe 2 star read. I had a few issues with it and it just didn't work for me.

First of all I didn't connect with any of the characters at all. They weren't likeable and I just didn't care. Cheyenne was bland and she didn't interest me at all. Her name is also awful and I cringed reading it.

Mace was an asshole. As a friend/lover he was inconsiderate and as a Dom his ignorance and idiocy made him downright dangerous. He and his fellow dick heads at the club I've already forgotten the name of gave the impression that all Doms were cruel, abusive bastards. They showed no regard for their subs wellbeing and seemed to get off on taking their partners beyond what they had consented to. Taking someone completely new to kink and treating them with such disinterest and offering no aftercare after such an intense scene does not a good Dom make.

I also hated that the characters/ this book kept repeating the notion that the sub having equal power in a BDSM relationship was a myth and they would show Cheyenne 'the real thing'. This really infuriated me. Removing choices, consent and safewords is not 'the real thing', it's unsafe at best and abusive at worst. The sub ALWAYS has a choice. Taking that choice away is not being a Dom, it's being a rapist. Mace didn't check in with Cheyenne at all and there was no discussion of limits or expectations despite the fact she's never played with anyone before. Not cool. The book presented BDSM as an unsafe depraved practice and again, that pissed me off.

Things started to pick up in the last quarter of this book after a strange twist was revealed. While very strange, the ending interested me enough to earn this an additional star.

While this book was enticing and erotic at times, I honestly couldn't get into it. There were several things which stopped me from enjoying this novel, so I'll start with what irked me the most and work my way down from there.

Firstly, While the novel was supposedly BDSM orientated, it showed absolutely no signs of aftercare, one of the biggest rules in the BDSM community; is to look after your submissive/little/slave etc. and help to bring them out of their space, especially after a particularly heavy session because it can be quite hard on them after the adrenaline wears off. Mace put Cheyenne through several intense BDSM scenarios and then just expected her to snap back into reality. It was no wonder Cheyenne stated several times throughout the novel that she was confused as to whether Mace was 'acting' or not. This is quite disappointing because not only does it place a heavy importance on the sexual side of a BDSM relationship, but it fails to address the emotional side of how these relationships work, the level of trust involved and the aftercare a submissive would need to receive after session. To me, it felt unconvincing and unrealistic, and disappointed in the lack of research the author has done.

The grammar was terrible, and sentences were worded weirdly. Often times I would have to read and then reread a sentence or paragraph several time to understand what the author was trying to say. This made it particularly hard for me to read the novel quickly and really delve into the world they have created. Also, during many of the sexual encounters between Cheyenne and Mace (which to be perfectly honest, was a good 80% or more of the novel) were described poorly, leaving me confused and trying to sort through the images in my mind, to figure out what was going on. Which again, depleted from the enjoyment of reading this novel.

Finally, there seemed to be little to no plot. The majority of the novel was sexual encounters between Cheyenne and Mace, with focus occasionally thrown onto some of the minor to move the plot along by making mysterious allusions to a sinister plan surrounding Cheyenne. However, at the end of the novel, when this plan in unveiled (literally within the last 40 pages) Cheyenne loses any fire she had and becomes a compliant little puppet; allowing herself to be rescued by Mace. The rescue itself is somewhat shoddy, wrapped up too quickly and with little explanation as to how it happened. Then it jumps right into the prologue where suddenly, six months later, all is well and good between them, and they seem to be two almost completely different characters.

I just couldn't buy into this one.

This was a DNF for me!!! I started it and got to about page 58 and became extremely disinterested. It just couldn't hold my attention and I was really upset by that fact considering the book cost $10.00!!! I had a really hard time connecting with the main characters Cheyenne and Mace. Mace was the brooding alpha Dom with an obvious secret past and Cheyenne was the wishy washy herione that was curious about BDSM. Mace works security for the magazine company that Cheyenne works for as a reporter...her bosses want to do a cover story on BDSM so they pick Chey and Mace and that is where the story begins. There first night at the elusive BDSM club "Indulgences" was just weird to me. These two barely know eachother yet both were perfectly fine with taking it to the high level of imtimacy that they did. All because of what...Cheyenne not wanting to lose her job? Just couldn't get behind the story. Was really hoping for more and extremely disappointed that it wasn't!

As the new kid on the block, Cheyenne Stensen is well aware she must earn her place to become top notch Edge reporter. The assignment her bosses want her to undertake will, without a doubt, make or break her career. Very little in Mace Brandt’s past is worthy of remembering, which is why it is off limits to anyone who thinks they know him. While his stony demeanor makes him the perfect security guard, it also makes him an excellent Dom. Doming at Indulgences is the only time Mace lets anyone near him, and that is only when it benefits his desires. Being sent on assignment with Cheyenne creates controversy in his life he cares little for, yet sending her into Indulgences on her own is not acceptable. For a long time, Cheyenne has toyed with the idea of trying BDSM. With Mace, however, this fantasy becomes an all too terrifying and exhilarating reality. What neither Mace nor Cheyenne know is that their every move is being orchestrated for something beyond all comprehension. Reading this story brings to light the fear and trepidation of a first timer to BDSM and for good reason. Entering into this situation as Cheyenne does is unbelievably stupid, which makes the story feel all the more real, since she is immediately in over her head. Mace’s lack of preparing her is unconscionable, but then he, too, is being played by an outside force. What I find to be most bizarre is the crazy left turn this story takes into something almost resembling science fiction. Beyond that, it is emotionally charged from beginning to end. Interesting storyline. Refreshing to read a story that doesn't follow the traditional character with a tormented past who ends up running/pushing away when they come too close to feelings of love for the hero/heroine.
The Blind Spot brought out feelings for me of hate and respect. The contradiction between the Blind Spots belief system between the sexes and belief in eye for an eye is similar to how we currently operate in the real world..... The Blind Spot believes women are less then and academically challenged compared to men. They treat the woman with no regard as a human being or their feelings. Yet they hold criminals from earth accountable to eye for an eye and the man the Blind Spot judges they say he should be punished because of torment and the murder against his wife?

Everything moves pretty quickly in this book. The main characters have known each other a very short time before they take things to the next level but I've read books were just as much has happened after only knowing each other for a day. If you're like me who reads because it is fun, and the story telling doesn't always have to be perfect for you to enjoy a book then this one is perfect.

The beginning was a little slow but than it was a page turner. It had a lot of BDSM in it and a good plot. This is not for the weak. There is bondage, slaver and it will take your mind to another world.

Got really weird and supernatural at the end and not in a good way. I also didn't like having the bosses scenes in. Also, too many loose, possibly dead, ends. What about her parents? His background? Just a weird and frustrating book.
