When Roses Bloom

Rate this book
Michelle Slate, the financial manager of her family's tree farm in Tennessee, burns her wedding dress on the front lawn, declaring she's done with men because they're all after her money. When her father dies suddenly and leaves her in charge of the huge business enterprise, she uses her newfound responsibility as an excuse to further isolate---and insulate---herself from the opposite sex. With no time to do the work herself, she needs to hire a gardener to spruce up her family's summer estate. Through an employment agency she hires Glenn, a man who's down and out after selling everything but his truck to pay his late wife's medical bills. Drawn to his good looks and honest work ethic, Michelle wonders if there's not more than meets the eye when it comes to her new laborer. While Glenn works hard to restore the flowers that once decorated a lovely garden, both he and Michelle learn that her roses---along with their hearts---can bloom again.

3.5 stars. This book was easy to read cover to cover in less than 2 hours for me. I found it to be charming in its innocence and the characters really felt like a family the whole book. It was a sweet romance that I could see a 13 year old reading to get a feel for the genre without any kind of smut or foul language. It was predictable yet fast paced enough that O didn't care. I don't know how soon I'll read it again, but it's definitely a keeper and I think it's a cute story with heart, no matter your age.

I really liked this book. It shows that that he really knew how to take care of his daughter and that he knew how to treat a lady. I recommend this book to someone who has lost a loved one or has gone through something like that. This is a really good book to enjoy reading.
