All towns in Australia greeted a new day to find that there was no electricity! There were no telephones and no computers working, there were not lights in homes or on the streets, cars did not start, aircraft lost their navigation and controls. Everything with a silicon chip had failed to work. Security systems that had locked premises the night before remained locked. Banks were powerless and the ATM machines were silent. The whole world was silent. Bob Riley looked at the mayhem outside of his home and wondered. He tried his ancient MGB sports car, and because it had no modern electronics, it started. A brief and grim survey in the small town of Narrabri set him on a journey across Australia, where he convinced those he met to start their own journeys, and slowly, against terrible odds in the Australian bush, a new world started to appear.
