Profiles the inimitable Mrs. Patrick Campbell, an eccentric, flamboyant, and brilliant actress, one of the first of the Victorian "actress-managers," in a full-length biography richly illustrated with family photographs
A very detailed biography, following the perplexing life of someone who was clearly an enormously powerful actress and yet one who seemed so often to press the self-destruct button, in her private life, in her career and even in mid-performance. Engrossing. Made me wish that I could time-travel to experience live performances by Mrs Pat but also by those whose careers preceded, coincided with and overlapped hers.
