Both Whistle and Spot can jump, run and catch. Sometimes one would be ahead of the other -- each time was different. Except for swimming. Whistle could swim but Spot could not, and he hoped no one would notice. When Spot ends up in the middle of the pond, he must overcome his fear and begins swimming. The illustrations are large, colorful, and Whistle and Spot's expressions in each situation are just right. This book is a good choice for discussions about courage, the various results of competition, and lessons on facing challenges. – Jacque C.
