Life is an ever-flowing river, with every second presenting a fresh opportunity to change the course of our journey. It's a chance to take that one step that could lead to a whole new world of possibilities.

Nya Berkeley is a passionate traveler who loves exploring new places, experiencing diverse cultures, and forging connections with people all over the world. She's a woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to take risks. Two years ago, she took a leap of faith and met up with a stranger, Elio, during a trip to Italy. And that's the moment she realizes that people can be different from what she has known and that the world is full of surprises.

Like a fleeting summer breeze, their connection was short-lived, and Nya left Italy the next day, leaving Elio behind. However, two years later, Nya returns to Italy, and just as she promised she would, she contacts Elio. But this time, everything has changed, and Nya finds herself facing this new second of life.

But what can two people from different parts of the world build together?

3.5⭐️

firstly thanks anna for giving me an arc and secondly being such a sweetheart.

when i say i was excited for this book, i was frothing at the mouth ready. the cover beautiful and the vibes immaculate so i wanted to escape in this book and have a (fictional) summer love.

this follows nya on a journey to not only rediscover life but also to meet up with a guy she met in italy in the past. it was love at first interaction. little does she know this guy (elio) has been thinking about her despite years of no contact. Elio was sweet and gentle and UGHHHH the scenes of consent between them (be still my beating heart).

Loved Isa, and her loud explosive personality. Can’t wait to see what happens for her.

now, this book was difficult for me because of the writing style, obviously this is a ME problem and not the authors fault but it took a while to read and sometimes i felt myself skimming and had to backtrack to read over what i missed.

the inner monologue between both main characters were similar so i couldn’t really differentiate what was going on sometimes but other than that nya and elio were amazing and their connection so precious.

they were literally soulmates and i’m glad they finally got their time.

i encourage everyone to give this book a shot because again this is just my take and while this was just a normal read for me this could be your next 5⭐️!!

if you love:
✈️summer romance
✈️strangers to lovers
✈️second chance
✈️small town
✈️consent and good communication
✈️travel romance

then definitely check this out 🤍

Firstly, Thank You Anna for the opportunity to read this novel, I am so blessed! 💘

I really enjoyed this book! I think Elio and Nya make such a wonderful couple!

The reason I gave this book 4.25 stars instead of 5 is because of the info dumping at points. I liked the dialogue towards the end of the book as we got to see Nya and Elio’s relationship develop into something quite beautiful!

This is an amazing debut novel from Anna Kobeleva and I recommend you read it!!

Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Releasing date: June 30th 2023

It’s been a long time since I read a book which was written by an Indie Author and it’s no news that I was one of the readers who were excited about this book and I wanted to be released quickly. I can’t describe how much I loved it and how much I miss Nya and Elio because it was so intensive for me and I cried for almost an hour in the moment when I finished the book.

That was the first book which gave me summer vibes combined with an unexpected love from the first sight and it was a fantastic love story for someone who has a passion when it’s about love in general because I felt that I am alive and that it’s not a clasic love story, it’s just an incredible love story for having an amazing plot twist and some moments when I’ve seen the lovebirds and it was unbelievable.

I loved the moment when Nya has arrived in Italy after two years because I knew that she wanted to find her true love which was Elio and that was good because she had a better relantionship with Elio than Kyle, who was her ex boyfriend, because he was too toxic for her, but I can’t give more spoilers than that for now.

The plot was grpping right from the start because we found out about Nya’s life and about her favourite place to travel which it was interesting. When we first met one of the main characters, Nya, we saw that she has some thoughts about an old friend from Italy and how she wanted to meet him, after a shocking break up with her ex boyfriend, Kyle, who was a jerk all the time.

I loved the book from the first pages because it was quite entertaining and deep or it was an emotional roller coaster for someone like me and it was tremendous. The moments with Nya and Elio were perfect and the feelings conveyed by Anna were felt, Nya didn’t think that she will meet her soulmate ever again and she still tried to find him but at first she was unlucky, Elio was convinced by the fact that Nya forgot him and moved on but he was wrong about that. They met after a couple of years and they were adorable and inseparable. I melted every time when they were together because Elio was the best boyfriend for Nya and she really enjoyed his company. Even though they were different, they were perfect for eachother at the same time because of their true love for eachother which made them closer than they were at beginning of the story.

For me, this book was perfect and it surprised me and entertained me in so many moments, in many ways. And I’m addicted to Nya and Elio with their love story, so I can’t wait to read something else from this talented author in the future.

Firstly I want to start by saying that this book is absolutely ADORABLE and is the PERFECT summer read☀️

Even the vibes of this book is amazing, it is just something we all either have experienced or want to experience, like the feeling of traveling to a new place and exploring, meeting new people, summer romances, and just making the most of life.

Nya’s character growth was definitely a favourite aspect of this book for me. I mean I think when you get out of a bad relationship the best thing you can do is work on your self happiness and strive to achieve your goals/dreams and this is what Nya did by traveling✈️. I also found Nya to be a totally relatable character. I understand that you lend help to others but at times you need to put your own happiness first and I’m glad Nya did this.

Elio is an absolute cinnamon roll and I absolutely loved him from the moment I met him. Elio was honestly nothing but a gentleman with Nya, he was very considerate of his feelings and honesty held on to every word she spoke and he bent over backwards to ensure that she enjoyed herself on her adventure🫶🏼

Tropes:
- Summer Romance ✔️
- Friends to Lovers ✔️
- Second Chance ✔️

This is the authors debut novel and I can honestly say Anna you absolutely smashed it!! Thank you for allowing me to chance to read Nya & Elio’s journey. Congratulations and I cannot wait to read future books👏🏼

I really liked that this book has dual POVs, and the way it's written, it's really easy to comprehend.

To start, I wish I had a friendship like Nya has with Isa.  The way they were there for each other and how Isa understood Nya and tried to help in any way she could was so beautiful to read in the short interactions they had.

I liked how Nya is so relatable, how her "problems" were so well described, and how I could see myself in her in some situations. I'm so happy that I had the chance to "follow her" throughout the book as she tried to be a better person for herself, not lower herself to make others feel better, and face her fears and insecurities. Many women went through a similar situation, and I think that they can relate to what Nya was feeling.

I loved how Eliot was such a gentleman, how he paid so much attention to Nya and always considered her feelings, and how, even though he was unaware of what Nya was going through, he tried to understand her and make her trip the best one she's ever had.

I have to thank the author for giving me the chance to read this amazing book! thank u so much❤️

First, thank you Anna for the ARC and for being patient with me while I take my time to read your book. Life happens and that's what it did in this book.

I love and relate a lot to Nya. The only thing I envy about her is that she has time and money to travel and explore Italy, which I don't. Her character is really well-developed and makes it easy to connect to her. Her love for travel and volunteering makes me want to pack bags and shift to the other side of the world.

Elio is the perfect man, giving her the time and showering Nya with his love. I NEED HIM!

Another thing I loved about the book is that I feel I travelled Italy without even been there. Ana did a phenomenal job capturing the essence of Italy, from its breathtaking landscapes to traditions.

The romance between the characters is heartwarming. Their reunion after two years makes it more passionate, adding a layer to their complex relationship, making it beautiful in the end.

I found it a little slow paced, especially in the middle, which kept me from reading more. But the ending made up for it.

It's worth a read! Love you, Anna!

Tropes:
- euro summer romance

The book made me feel so nostalgic for a European summer! To that feeling of exploring a new country, travelling, meeting new people, getting out of your comfort zone and having fun!

I really loved how positive Nya was, she had a lot of character growth. From having a terrible previous relationship but going after her dreams of travelling and taking on new adventure to find herself again. There was a lot of little nuggets I think we can all take from her which I loved.

Elio was the biggest sweetheart and such a laid back MMC who we all want in our lives. He was so respectful and understanding of Nya but also made sure he made her trip a memorable one!

This being the authors debut novel, I think she did a really great job of capturing a European summer romance!

Congratulations, Anna! I am excited for what you write in the future 💗

Loved this book. I loved elio and nya’s relationship, they’re consideration for each other. That kiss scene in the bathroom was just oh my god. Also, love it’s setting in Italy, wish I could travel as much as nya. Loved isa and Lucas as well, especially the point that the story focused on more than one relationship. Great read in general, especially for the summer. Recommended.

ENG

After reading this book, I wanted to buy plane tickets and travel around the world, especially to Italy. I think the life that Nya has and wants to travel the world is a dream that everyone has (I speak for myself). I wish I could get to know the world and new people like she does.

I feel sorry that she lost that dream and lost the opportunity to travel for 2 years due to a toxic relationship because she thought her boyfriend was always right and she was the one who was wrong. I was even more upset because it was right after she met Elio and they hadn't spoken or seen each other in all that time.

Elio is a sweetheart and I fell in love with him! He has always been in his own corner and being with someone who is always traveling would be very complicated... But more complicated I think is being able to resist the feelings that grow as he get to know Nya!

The development of their relationship, although slow, is beautiful to see. They go from strangers to lovers, after some time they build a friendship and back again to lovers. Complicated? Yes, but they got to really know each other and realize their true feelings.

I also loved the friendship created with the secondary characters and I'm very curious to be able to read a story just for these characters!

Without a doubt, it's a great book to read at this time of summer and I'm already looking forward to reading the second book! So, don't miss the opportunity to read it!

*3,5 stars*
*I've received an ARC of this book but that does not influence my rating*

First of all, I want to say that this book is a really good debut. The storyline was well imagined and executed. I really liked Elio as a character and how sweet and gentle he was. The consent scenes was really refreshing to read about. I really liked the way Elio thought and expressed himself. Normally I'm not a big fan of dual POV's. However, in this book I liked it quite a bit. Often in dual POV's the characters describe the same event chronologically in both POV's and it gets quite repetitive for me. I liked that the characters in this book thought about the previous event but they did not tell story once again.

I loved Isa. I would love to read a book about her. I wished there were a few more scenes with Isa and Nya.

The book gave me the summer feeling as I'm sure its attended as such.

The things I think could be done a little better:
Especially in Nya's POV's - Nya was really repetitive about what she thought about. She thought about the same things over and over and often a long paragraph of her repeating herself. I feel that a lot of that could have been cut down.

I would like the surroundings and characters to be described more. The only person we really get described is Elio.

There are a few discrepancies in the book. For example Elio is described with light skin in the book but later he is described with olive skin and Elio's hair is kinda long and short later on. Nya describes her relationship to her mom as cold which i didn't understand because they were really loving and they visibly cared for each other.

And I would have liked a bit more research before writing some of the scenes. Like they drink red wine in one scene and it served cold? Maybe I'm wrong but usually red wine is served room temperature.
I didn't get that Nya was from England in the beginning of the book (I thought she was from the US). If she would have said/wrote mum instead of mom i would have guessed it instantly.

I think the book need a little bit of editing. I kinda get the vibe that English is not Anna's (the author) first language and that's totally okay however, there are some frases and wordings I wouldn't have used for an english person.

With all this said I think the book really good and could be really great with a bit of editing. This is an ARC so I don't expect the book to be perfect and again I think its a really good debut novel. So well done Anna.

Where to start?

I think the author has potential, however, I have mixed feelings about this book.

In general, I adored Elio and Nya's relationship. I was so glad she could find happiness with someone who respects her, someone who isn't going to stand in her way. The way Elio supports Nya is a quality every boyfriend should have yet lacks.
It was such a light summer read, and it would be perfect.
Would.

Now why I couldn't give this book more than three stars:
It's repetitive. Too philosophical. Nya has a habit of making everything about something "greater", like a force from the universe or something, which in theory isn't bad at all. Reading this once or even twice would've been fine, but she mentions philosophical stuff so many times, that at some point, while she was rambling on and on about it, I could quote her word for word.
There's little dialogue. The book is basically a bunch of hundred pages of inner monologue, then a few dialogue lines as if the author suddenly remembered this isn't textbook.
Also, it was really difficult to differentiate the MC's from one another. You could easily forget whose PoV it was because there was a severe lack of diversity. They both talked the same, had the same thought process, the voices were just too similar.

I know this was the author's debut novel, and I am not saying that it's a bad book because I really enjoyed it, but I do think there's a lot of space for improvement.
I am excited to read the next book, and hopefully, there will be a lot less philosophical talk and a lot more dialogue.

*I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a review but all thoughts and opinions are my own*

First off, I just want to mention how honored I am to be chosen as part of the process of Anna’s debut novel! Forever grateful for this opportunity 🩷

Somewhere only we know is such a sweet romance, and honestly very realistic, avoiding tropes such as insta-love.
I love Nya and how her whole character arc is about gaining her identity and independence back - we need more MCs like that! Elio was also absolutely perfect, and I don’t think it’s a reach at all to say he’s the ultimate book boyfriend.

The only complaint I have about Somewhere Only we Know is that I really wish we got some flashbacks to when the MCs first met, following more of a “show don’t tell” structure. That said, it’s just personal preference and the lack of flashbacks really doesn’t impact the plot at all.

Overall, I’d recommend this book to any romance lovers who dream of the perfect European vacation 😍 this book made me want to instantly book a flight to Italy to meet the love of my life… ah, a girl can dream.

Congratulations to Anna on an incredible debut novel! Once again, I am so honored have been chosen as one of the first few people to get to read this book.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is said review.

It took me a while to get into this book. The writing style is not for me since there's a lot of philosophical inner thoughts and repetition. This was present on both points of view which made it hard to set a clear distinction on the characters personalities and ways of thinking. Also the language used at times felt not very casual, and there were some situations where I couldn't really understand why Nya or Elio were acting that way, or saying those things, making me feel like it was "forced" to trigger a certain scenario.

It wasn't until about half the book where things started to pick up and became easier to connect with Nya and Elio, and writing style aside (which is a very personal preference) I think the story was great. I was very excited to see how things unfolded in the end.

Overall, it's a beautiful story, great as a summer or vacation read. I think the author has great potential and I'll be definitely in the lookout for future releases.

Tropes:
summer romance
strangers to lovers
second chance
good communication
right person, right town
small town
travel romance: a summer in Italy
Kind of slow burn

Things I liked about the book:

His love language is physical touch & words of affirmation
He asks for permission

2 years ago on her last day in Italy, Nya met Elio through the dating app and had an amazing time. She promised she would text him whenever she is back in Italy.

Now she is finally visiting Italy, after getting out of a bad relationship and she drops a text to Elio.

The question is are the sparks there like they were when the met last time.

This book is for everyone who loves growing romance, good communication and found family ❤️

I loved how patient Elio was with Nya and how he could see what was going in her eyes even before she could say anything.

Every date and outing he planned was a chef’s kiss..

I received this book as an ARC so I wanted to thank again the author and say that this is an honest review of mine.

I took a really long time reading it. I had difficulties going into the book and getting attached to the characters. The potential of the story is really good and I also want to say that it's not something easy to write a book and it is just that it didn't make it for me. The type of writing was not for me but that is my personal thoughts.

I personally didn't really appreciated the writing also because it was sometimes repetitive and sometimes too philosophic if you know what I mean? that's also why it took me long.

I honestly preferred the second half of the book. Also, I liked Isa and Luca a lot! I would have loved to know them better.

If you like, romance with : summer vibe, stranger to lovers, right person,.. this book is made for you!

Nya and Elio met two years ago, but they only had one night together. Now, that Nya is headed back to Italy, she wants another shot with the guy she hasn't stopped thinking about.

"Somewhere Only We Know" is a dual POV steam-of-consciousness novel. It took me a little bit to get into this book because stream-of-consciousness is not typically a style I enjoy. However, I'm happy to say once I got into it, the style made the characters very endearing. Once author Anna Kobeleva got rolling, the second half of the book was really enjoyable.

Overall, this was a fun summer read with an emotional finale. This author shows a lot of promise, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next (hint, hint Luca's story, please).

I received and ARC and offered to write an honest, voluntary review.

Literally the perfect vacay book!!! I loved all the Italian vibes and let's face it, who doesn't want to read a love story that takes place in Italy? Hello, I personally wouldn’t want to miss out

I love how this book was not only about love for each other but also very much about being on the path to finding yourself again and learning to love yourself. This book was just really beautiful and deep. One of my favorite quotes is
"No matter what brought you down, or what made you cry, the most important thing is how you rise back to where you were and learn to never make that mistake again. Making mistakes is normal and helpful because we learn through trying and failing."

I can't put it into words but Nya and Elio are definitely soulmates in their own special way. They just belong to each other.

Y'all, this is the best summer read ever!!😩 It's easily read and fast paced that you can read it in one day.
I resonated so much with our FMC Nya though. She was relatable and the way she thought was surely me. Seeing Nya rebuild herself and getting accommodated in her own skin was something I loved! Also her friendship with Isa👀
On the other hand, Elio was the perfect gentleman! I melted every time this man opened his mouth to be honest💞
There are a lot of books with this kind of plotline, but SOWK stands out, because everything is made in a healthier way. It's special in itself because we don't see this context much, and I absolutely adored it!
I miss Elio and Nya and I wish I could read it for the first time again😩💓

Thank you, Anna for the honour of reading SOWK!🥰

I honestly really wanted to enjoy this story and I definetly did in some parts but I also couldn't connect with the characters as much as hoped. I think these characters both had so much more potential and I just really wish I got more of what I believe they could have been. Elio and Nya are such sweet characters but some of the things they talk about and how much they talk about it wasn't my favorite. I did enjoy Nya and Isa go through it together and I wish there was more of it. I also enjoyed where it took place and the timeline of everything in the summer.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALLOWING ME TO READ THIS ARC!!!

I had fun reading this, I did enjoy reading about a summer in Italy! I felt like I was there at times. I wanna visit Italy one day and walk the streets and a beach. I wanna eat the food and sight see, reading this book kind of helped in a way, I felt like I was breathing the same air.

I gave this book a 3.3/5 it was definitely cute a quick but I didn’t relate to the characters too much. But I did enjoy their story🫶🏾

This book was not for me. It was very awkward and repetitive in the beginning. It did get better in the second half, but not by much. It was hard to differentiate between the two separate POVs, because both characters voices were exactly the same. There were long paragraphs of inner thoughts that felt like the author rambling on. I also wish we got to experience their first meeting, rather than being told they met two years ago and it went well or whatever

Bravo, Anna, on your debut! 👏🏻 I thought your writing was almost poetic in the way it ebbed and flowed. The characters were relatable and realistic. There was plenty of plot and character growth. The spice level was minimum, but I prefer plot over spice most days anyway, so that didn’t bother me at all! I really enjoyed the dual POV and of course the HEA ♥️

Ahhhh SO FREAKING GOOD. 5⭐️

to start i just wanted to say I loved this book with my whole heart and I will forever be recommending this and re reading every summer!

we follow nya and elio who see each other for the 2nd time after two years. nya has a month in italy as she travels a lot with her best friend isa. this time is different from the first meeting though and we follow them as they spend the summer together and try to figure out how they can work with being from different parts of the world.

okay… this book has such good vibes like i could read it forever with the beautiful scenes it created in my head. I could literally talk about my love for this book for days💗 I loved nya so so much and her character growth was so beautiful to read after she had been in a unhealthy relationship. she is so relatable I felt like she was my best friend and I always wanted the best for her🫶🏻 elio…. ELIO. ohhhhhh myyyy he is just so sweet - the most perfect Italian book boyfriend. together they were just unstoppable and they made each other so so happy. I truly loved all the side characters too - isa has such a big personality and heart she brought so much to the book🤍✨

thank you so so much to anna for the arc of this book you have truly blown me away and this is your debut novel!! I am so excited for all your future books to come🥹 such beautiful writing - I am so grateful for authors like you🧸

* arc review *

First of all, thank you to the author for giving me an arc of this book!

I loved the writing style; it was just amazing. The friendship between Luca and Elio is so cute, and so is the one between Isa and Nya. Such a nice, easy, quick read (or rather it would’ve been quick if not for responsibilities 🥲) and it’s easy to immerse yourself in it. Also, the summer vibes this book gives are just spectacular.

Nya is definitely my favourite character. The way she picks herself up after what happened between her and her ex. Her thoughts resonate with me. She’s just honestly one of my favourite main characters.

I feel that the developing romance between Nya and Elio in the beginning could have been better. There was chemistry but there could’ve been more, if that makes sense?

Overall, I loved this book and it might be my favourite of the month. Once again thank you to the author for the arc!
