The day started like every other day for Joseph Wilkes, but it would end much differently than he could ever imagine. It all started nearly a decade earlier with a few innocent questions. Those innocent questions asked so long ago would put into motion a series of events that could never be foretold by anyone, including Wilkes.
Nobody could possibly know a few questions would have such catastrophic consequences and lead directly to the death of Joseph Wilkes’ daughter at the hands of a criminal enterprise that would not be brought to justice. Because his daughter’s killer or killers were not caught, Wilkes formed one of the premier detective agencies of its time. Eight years later, the circumstances around his daughter's still-open case were about to change.
In the coming days, Wilkes and his team of highly skilled private detectives would be thrust into the middle of their next case. A case that was quite literally delivered to them in a box by a neighborhood street kid named Sam. This would be the case that brings the Allied Detective Agency full circle back to the beginning of it all, and this time Wilkes intended to get justice.

Steven Jacobs was born in 1971 in Wilmington, North Carolina, and at an early age, he became interested in all aspects of history. He became a history buff by watching old movies with his father that contained great actors such as Cary Grant, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Steve McQueen, and many others.
Later in high school, Steven excelled in United States history, especially in the turbulent years of the early to mid-1900s, and this is where his love for military history flourished. By the time Steven was thirty-five years old, he had read countless books on United States history with a focus on the era of World War II.
At the age of forty-five, he wrote his first book about the disappearance of a German U-boat in World War II called The Disappearance of U-491. Steven had such a wonderful time writing his first book that he continued writing and, to date, has just finished his fourteenth book.
Now, at the age of fifty-three, Steven lives in Columbia, South Carolina, and he has worked for the government for fifteen years.
