Missing for nearly a year after disappearing into the New Mexico desert during a roadtrip, Danny Major has been presumed dead, his case closed. But when Jeff Kenton, a stubborn young sheriff's deputy uncovers new evidence of Danny's fate, he refuses to ignore it, even though his suspicions may implicate the very men he trusts and works with. His hunch leads him out into the desert, to the remote and mysterious Motel X. There, he uncovers a shocking world of sex, pain, and submission, a world where brutal beatings, psychological torture, and extreme sexual training are the norm. And before long, Jeff finds himself trapped in the clutches of the motel's cruel masters, forced into a life of bondage and intense sadomasochism, and pushed beyond his every physical, mental, and sexual limit.
Does Jeff have the willpower to endure such unspeakable treatment and find a means of escape? Or is he doomed to follow in Danny's footsteps, doomed to be broken down into... the perfect slave?
When he isn't scribbling out dark fantasies and explorations of non-traditional sexuality, Ty Marton works as a consultant in Los Angeles, though he's spent his rare pockets of free time plotting out stories of all kinds for years now. An avid and active member of the California fetish community, Ty is a strong believer in safe, sane, consensual, and shameless explorations of socio-sexual individuality. With all of his stories, Ty hopes to help connect people with their own fantasies - and maybe expose them to some new ones - in a fun, healthy, positive manner. Ty lives with his partner and with his beloved pit bull, Stella.
Finally! I was so happy to see this sequel. After the crazy ending from the last book, I was dying for more of this story. This one contains everything the first book provided, though this book was a bit easier to take. We see more of the slaves, including Danny (number X), who has not been doing well since Eric's (number IX) apparent demise.
When this story begins, there is so much hope that Danny and the others will be saved, but, of course, that would be too easy. What comes next is a shadow of what we saw in the first. We learn that Danny still has hopes of escaping and now thinks Jeff is his ticket to freedom.
There are more twists and turns and many manipulations, and, again, we are left with many questions. Definite 4.5 star read for me. Although this is totally worth the price, I didn't feel it was nearly long enough. I really hope we don't have to wait too long for the next installment.
2.5 rounded up. This was a bit of a letdown for me after book one. I have to be honest, I liked the first book not because it was superbly written or a great story, but because it was hot. This one is missing the hotness factor for me. There is still noncon/torture, but the descriptions lacked something. It felt like a lot of scenes that started building up to a nice long torture/sex session instead got shorted by some interruption or other to keep the plot moving. There's more telling and less showing overall.
At aroung 78% there was, "He'd been fucked, fisted, beaten, defiled, and degraded..." and I thought, huh, this is what I paid for. Why am I just getting a little teaser mention that it happened? Would have loved a fisting scene. Or the training in detail. Intead, got a lengthy hallucination/dream sex scene...
Looks like there will be a book 3, and I'll probably buy it, but because of book one, not this volume.
Especially this: "At around 78% there was, "He'd been fucked, fisted, beaten, defiled, and degraded..." and I thought, huh, this is what I paid for. Why am I just getting a little teaser mention that it happened? "
The second half of Ty Marton's Breakdown Motel picks up right where Breakdown Motel leaves off. You need to read this series in order.
Part 2 has a very different flavor from Part 1. Partly because we already know all the badies and that sense of anticipation and dread isn't as bad (at least for me).
I'm impressed with Ty Marton's writing - usually this kind of dark erotica isn't so well put together, but Marton and their editor did a nice job.
Set 1 year after the events of Breakdown Motel this is just as dark and depraved. It made more sense to me, given how the cop managed to get himself captured. Everyone is in on the sick twisted actions going on so invariably someone is going to start asking questions and not believing the answers. Twisted all to hell and back this one gives you more of the same - non-con slavery and degradation. And the ending. WTF? Again this is fantasy and not meant to represent real life BDSM -- although perhaps the sex trafficking is not so far off the mark.
Regretfully, this will be more of a frustrated rant than a review, lots of letdowns!
I’ll start with the good stuff to get that out of the way: I loved the theater scene and the potential for the next book being action-packed is very promising!
First, how could ? Ugh, stupidity is such a turn-off for me.
Second, how is Jeff's monologues and thoughts a near exact match to Danny's in book 1? IMO, Jeff lacked a character to call his own.
That long hallucination/dream sex scene was soooo long and lacked the intensity I enjoyed in book 1. So much telling rather than showing!
Lastly, the predictability of the storyline up until the last turning point left me feeling so frustrated, nearly chocked my self with my hoodie strings! -which seriously hurt don't try that at home kids.
Oh one last piece of advise that could save your ass someday, don't trust your back to a conditioned victim, NEVER! bye!
Ok....This one a bit more brutal...This time we get Jeff who's a cop and has stumbled onto Motel X after arresting Trixie......Danny our poor boy from book one subdues Jeff because he can't stand to be left alone after Eric..and Mason wants Danny to be himself again *cough* .......But Jeff is a new Eric he brings Danny back to life...Danny thinks he's gonna have a replacement for Eric..but Mason has other plans .......The ending...oh my i loved the ending....that was a total surprise .....well that was just before the ending....Will we ever find out what truly happens to Eric Danny and Jeff because as of writing this review two years after the books release..no book 3 is out...Yes you can read this and finish comfortably without book 3 but it would have been nice x
Trixie gets pulled over by an honest cop while she had a bag full of qualudes. She is taken to the station where she pays too much attention to Danny's missing person photo. The cop, Jeff, follows Trixie back to the motel where he is caught by Mason. The rape, torture and brutality are still all here but are concentrated on Jeff. I liked the "corn cob of doom" and as did Jeff. Danny and Jeff form a strong bond much like the one Danny and lX shared and help keep each other sane. I enjoyed this book more than the first because it showed that the human spirit cannot be completely broken. I found the torture and breaking of Jeff to be well done. The ending was excellently worked out. I can't see a third book but I'll sure buy it if there is.
Like the first book, this one was packed with lots of kinky, sadistic content. But unfortunately, the hotness factor (of the previous book) was sadly lacking in this one. And the cliffhanger ending was extremely frustrating.
I'll probably buy the next one when it's published, but if it doesn't recapture the hot/erotic feel that the first book evoked, then I think I'm gonna call it quits with this series.
If you loved Breakdown Motel part 1, you will love this one too. This is pretty the same kind of story. The plot is just a little better. And there will be a book 3.
I really wanted to like both Breakdown Motel 1&2. After reading the summaries, I was really excited to read them both; it seemed like there was an interesting, intense plot and interesting, intense sex scenes. Alas, not so much. In both books the authors flaked out on the plot, skimming over pretty much all of the important plot points, but in this one they even dared to skim the edgy sexy parts. Without these elements, I'm not sure what the point of the book is. I'm really bummed about this because like I said earlier I REALLY REALLY wanted to enjoy these books...
This isn't quite as brutal and demoralizing as the first part, but it still has the hard, dark edge. It's good to see Danny is still alive and find out what happened to him after the end of part 1. I get the feeling the story isn't over yet, though. Part 3 soon, please?
Un scénario concentré plus sur l'action (comprenez scènes érotiques) que sur l'émotivité et la logique. Les captifs sont bien trop consentants, on ne comprend pas vraiment leurs motivations. C'est dommage, l'idée était bonne.
An excellent sequel to book 1 and, in fact, I happen to like this one even more. There is an incredible twist at the end that points to another book. I recommend this to all of my DMC buddies.
