Fated mates existed.

I knew they did. As an omega, I should’ve been protected from the horrors that the Alpha’s did to me. Instead, they put me on display and used me like a rag-doll. Scars ripped through my face, and wouldn’t heal, leaving me a broken shell of a man.

I never thought I’d escape or be seen as anything more than a toy. But the Shadowhelm pack took me in and things were about to change.

Fated mates really do exist.

Nolan knows that fated mates exist. As Nolan is an Omega, he knows that he should have been protected from all the horrors that the Alpha's put him through. Instead, Nolan was put on display and used like he was nothing more than a rag-doll. Now scars rip over his face, scars that never healed, now he's been left as nothing more than a broken shell of a man.

Nolan had dreamed of escaping, but he never thought he'd actually escape, and if he did escape, no matter where he went or who saw him, all everyone would see him as is a toy, and nothing more than that. Then he runs into the Shadowhelm pack, and they just took him without question and he could finally see that things might actually be starting to change.

Please note: This book is intended for mature audiences and you'll find MM pairings. Also, this book does contain graphic dark themes including t*rture, non-con, and dub-con. Please read and consider the triggers. Your mental health always comes first.

Marked by the Alpha by Ivy Penn was a really enjoyable read and it really pulled out all the emotions possible from me and I found myself sobbing at parts. There were times that my heart was shattered at times for Nolan. Everything that he went through and everything that he was forced to go through, he didn't deserve to go through that. And Simon, oh that boy, I just wanted to unalive him so many times.

I will say that this is a rather quick read. It's full of dark, twisted, violence, and really it is heartbreaking at so many times. I will warn you that once you start this book you are going to be unable to put it down. The moment that I met Nolan, our sweet, beautiful omega, I just fell in love with him. And from there, it's just an emotionally charged roller-coaster ride. And it's packed with action including non-con, angst, tension, abuse, and there is so much more.

Everything started before Nolan even emerged as an omega, someone who should be loved, cherished, and cared for. But for Nolan, that isn't the case. Since he's been in high school he's been mistreated by Simon, someone who does whatever he wants to Nolan including r*ping and beating him. And when Nolan tries to talk to his parents about what's going on, they don't care and just tell him to suck it up and tell him to do what his Alpha tells him to do.

Everything seems to start changing for Nolan though when he meets another Alpha named Sebastian.

Sebastian's in university on scholarship and is a football player. Sebastian's lucky to have absolutely fabulous parents who have given him a wonderful life. It's one day as Sebastian is walking through the university campus and he happens to catch the scent of apples on the air and suddenly he knows without a doubt that his mate is close by, and that just happens to be Nolan, our sweet charming little Omega. Everything doesn't go to plan and Sebastian learns what has been happening to Nolan and he doesn't care what it costs him, Sebastian will go to the ends of the earth to save Nolan over and over again.

I love Ivy Penn's writing and her books and just stunning and this one was just as amazing as her other's. I adore Ivy's writing style and the characters that she creates. Her character development and character arcs. It's all so worth reading and I can't recommend it enough. I can't wait to read what Ivy writes next.

This is a really dark omegaverse story with alpha/beta/omega dynamics. And when I say dark, keep in mind, that means swimming in a sea of non-con, dub-con, abuse and violence. Nolan is an omega who has the misfortune to be born in one of the cruellest packs in this shifter society. As the only son in a family with 3 beta sisters, he is the biggest, deepest, shameful disappointment of his parents when he presents as omega in his early teen years. In a pack where designation is everything, being an omega means to be the lowest of the low, a rag doll for the alphas to play as they please. The lack of family support in his case, means also lack of parental support, care and love. Even though the abuse and non con started in Nolan's teen years/ before 18/, they were only mentioned and described in the prologue but not seen on page. But when the actual story starts, Nolan is already in college and the nightmare he lives in, unfolds in its staggering, breath stealing depth and details. What we do feel seeing his life, except the despair, loneliness and pain, is his deep need to belong, to find his mate, to be loved. Despite the hardships, Nolan is a bright beam of sunshine, sensitive, cautious, soft spoken and incredibly smart. But his smaller, delicate stature also puts a target on his back as a convenient victim. Something Simon - the alpha's heir of Nolan's birth pack - uses non stop as an advantage.

But not all packs of wolves in this fictional world abuse and mistreat their omegas. There are some where shifters live as tight knit families no matter the designation and everyone contributes as much as they can for the common prosperity. Sebastian is a part of such kind of pack - where people genuinely care and respect each other. When he meets Nolan on campus and realises the tantalising aroma of apples is his mate's scent, he doesn't have any idea how many challenges, pain and struggles, they both have to overcome to be together. And part of the problems are Nolan's lack of self preservation instinct and bad choices.

The story ends with really hard won HEA. I liked the pace, the plot and the characters. It would have been awesome if it was a beginning of a series, not only standalone.

Sebastian smelt apples. He has found his fated mate and he would do anything to keep him.
Sebastian was an alpha who was going to uni on a football scholarship, but he knew one day he would take over the pack. He was just leaving training when someone bumped into him, and he smelt apples and he knew he had found his fated mate, but by the time he worked it out the young man was long gone.
Nolan didn’t have the best start in life. His parents were disappointed that they had an Omega son and the fact that he was small meant he was overlooked. Except for an alpha called Simon that was in his pack. In fact, he was the Simon is the pack alpha’s son Simon seems to think that he could get away with treating an omega like dirt. In fact, even before Nolan turned 18 Simon and his group of other bullies would take what they want from him. They abused him. They enjoyed hurting him and life was hell for Nolan. That is until he found his fated mate for the first time he was aroused, he had somebody who would do anything for him. The only problem being was that Simon was not going to give up Nolan, could his alpha Sebastian and his new pack keep him safe??
I must admit this book is really dark in places, and my heart went out to Nolan. What that poor boy went through within his own pack, was an absolute disgrace. I was so happy when he met his fated Mate, because Sebastian would do anything to protect him. it was also so new to Nolan and it was lovely how his new pack supported him. But Simon is just a horrible individual and he’s surrounded by more bullies who egg him on. It is so disgusting.
I did find this book slow in places, hence the four stars, but I would definitely read more books in the series.

I never normally start of my review with a warning but I feel the need to do so with this one. It has really heavy subjects throughout the book that might trigger some. So please check them before you read it.... Now that being said let's get onto my review.

I really enjoyed reading this book even know it pulled all the emotions out of me and I sat sobbing my heart out at parts. My heart actually broke into a thousand pieces for Nolan. He didn't deserve anything that happened to him! I wanted to reach into the book and absolutely murder the character Simon.!! I just wanted to scoop up Nolan and take him away from it all.

This book is a quick read that's dark, twisted, violent and heartbreaking. I couldn't put it down once I started. I instantly fell in love with Nolan our little beautiful omega. It's such an emotional rollercoaster ride. Packed with loads including action, non con, angst, abuse and so much more.

As stated before Nolan is an omega, that should be cherished in this world but that's not the case he's mistreated since high school by the sick fuck Simon, that does what ever he likes to him that includes rapping and beating him. His parents don't care and tell him to suck it up and do what the alpha tells him. Yes that's right Simon is an alpha! The fucking prick he is, I really want to stick a hot poker up his arse!

But things might be changing for the better for nolan with a alpha called Sebastian.

Sebastian is a football player at the university on a scholarship, he has great parents and great life. One day he's walking throu the uni and smells apples and knows his mates near by, that happens to be our beautiful Nolan. But not everything goes to plan and he finds out what's been happening and saves him time after time.

Ivy penn's books are always amazing and this one was the same. I can't wait to read more by her.

As someone with absolutely zero triggers and a deep love and appreciation for MM romance, PNR and dark subject matter, I went into this book eagerly. However, the review that I am going to write is surprising because I found this a brutally hard book to read. Right up front I want to say that if you are someone that has triggers or you simply have a faint heart, THIS BOOK IS ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR YOU!! I know that there is a warning given with the blurb, and for some readers like me that is a green flag of enticement, but I also know that other reader fail to heed them or simply believe things will not be that bad, but I am begging you to take care of you, because this book really goes to the extreme with the sexual assault, which happens multiple times on page (and it is not subtle in any way) and then there is torture. I fully expected this book to give my emotions a workout and break my heart and it definitely did that. OMG, honestly the heartbreak seems never ending. I liked Nolan and Sebastian and oh how badly I wanted only good things and a HEA for them. You could see a truly beautiful thread of sweetness between them, and I desperately wish we had got to see more of that, along with more of them in happy moments as a couple. Sadly, it seemed every little moment of joy was quickly smothered by another blanket of ugliness. In the end I felt that the romance part to this story was so severely overshadowed and tainted by the heavy drama, some questionable murkiness Sebastian's actions and the brutal darkness that I actually felt cheated because while my tropes and book lengths may vary, I always read for the romance.

Not all alphas are worthy of their title.. Nolan is a sweetheart I just want to reach out giving him a huge hug he is a toy to his alpha abused daily as an omega born in in one of the cruelest packs that ever existed in shifter society, told he is a disappointment by his parents from day one after presenting as an omega as an early teenager, no support, the lowest of the low, and so no structure or guidance to be anything better but in his heart he knew he was something more or that there had to be something better out there. We journey with him through college feeling his lonely he is, needing his mate, needing to belong or to feel some semblance of something more than how he grew up but what I love about him is all that he has been through he didn’t allow it to kill who he is inside he kept the ability to see a brighter side of things and he was intelligent. Sebastian comes from the total opposite pack where despite being alpha, beta, omega, you are loved, respected, they care for one another so the moment he scents his mate he doesn’t realize the damage that has been done to him mentally, emotionally or just how broken his mate is all at the hands of the people who was supposed to love him something that is so hard for him to comprehend but will he be like everyone else giving up on Nolan, will he show Nolan that patience is real, will he keep rescuing Nolan, will he put the broken pieces back together, will his pack show him that it is okay to live, okay to be loved without fear, and will he show Nolan it is okay to trust in happiness?

I very, very rarely give one star reviews buts this book deserves it. The characters are terrible with constantly changing personalities, the MCs and those around them are TSTL, one MC is meant to be a great possibility for taking over the pack but chooses to rape someone to teach them a lesson (despite the fact he’s angry that his mate was raped), the plot is nonsensical, the MC claims to have a brother called Marcellus who’s 8 years younger than him and then he’s never mentioned again and the MC claims he’s an only child, the other MC has suffered extreme sexual abuse from at least sophomore year in high school (and emotional abuse prior to that) but is a-okay within a month, there is a random and illogical torture/kidnap/experimentation plot, a doctor uses a captured/tortured/drugged omega for experimentation but nobody has an issue with that when he happens to be the doctor on call at the ER that the omega is then brought to (he’s thanked despite only having not carried on further experimentation/examinations because the omega wasn’t in heat), someone beaten/tortured/drugged is declared fine despite being pregnant with no examination etc. I could go on but I honestly don’t want to waste any more time on this.

Nolan Wallace is an Omega in his pack. He is being abused by an Alpha in his pack using him as a toy. Nolan tells his parents, and they are like listen to your Alpha. Simon is always toying with Nolan and using him for his own pleasure and allows his friends also. Nolan keeps telling him he not my mate. Poor Nolan has been dealing with this since high school and now even in college.
One day he is leaving a class and bumps into this guy, and he smells apples. Sebastian Aarons going into class and bumps into this person, and he smells apples. Sebastian realized he just bump into his mate and no idea who he is.
Nolan is in his apartment and Simon shows up he is able to escape by going through the window but gets cut in the face. He runs away and hides in a cave. Sebastian goes in search of his mate; he finds Nolan the play and he walks him home.
Simon still goes after Nolan and is rescued by Sebastian again and again. Nolan is not use to this type of relationship so is slow to come to terms with it. Sweet love story with a happy ending.

This was a quick read. It started off strong and then devolved about 15-20% into the story. The emotional, physical, and psychological damages Nolan experienced were not addressed. Nolan's characters didn't follow the characteristics of someone who was abused for years. I had difficulty reconciling his instant recovery over a month and at the beginning in a matter of a few days. Some steps were taken to account for the trauma and then those boundaries were trampled on in the next couple of pages. I didn't like it.

Sebastion was an alright MMC. I wouldn't shout his praises, but his motives and action came from a good place. I did like Julius he was a good secondary character and a compliment to Sebastian. Thumbs up for that.

A lot more could have been done to enrich the story and tackle some of those heavy situations/topics. A few grammatical errors. I don't think I'll be reading from this author again. But I do wish the author success in any future projects.

Watch out for the trigger warnings because it starts really dark. Simon is the son of the alpha of the Grimclaw pack and he chose Nolan to be his toy way back in middle school. Nolan wants nothing to do with Simon and keeps denying him but Simon overpowers him. Simon is abusive and forces Nolan. Then in college Nolan literally runs into his fated mate who is an alpha from another pack. Nolan wants to be with his fated mate but Simon refuses to leave them alone.

Sebastian is a wonderful alpha. He is big and strong and caring. When he figures out that the omega who ran into him is his fated mate, he goes after Nolan and saves him from a horrible situation. Even though Nolan is in heat, he is kind and considerate enough to give him time to heal.

Nolan is an abused omega who struggles to get through each day. Simon, his tormentor, since high school plagues his every step, beats him and rapes him. Nolan's parents don't care, they tell him he needs to bow down to the mighty alpha. Nolan's parents are disappointed that their only son was an omega and not a strong alpha, he's a throw away.

Sebastian is a golden boy... football player at university with a scholarship, has two loving dads and every opportunity in life. One day, he smells apples, and he knows he found his mate.

This is my first time reading a m/m romance, and I enjoyed it. The rape scenes were uncomfortable, and I would have liked to see more of Sebastian and Nolan than that awful Simon. "Boys will be boys" Nah, rape is inexcusable. I want to read more by this author, I devoured this story in one day.

Interesting story about shifters. I have to admit I was a bit overdone with Nolan getting kidnapped by the Grimclaw Pack and in particular, Simon. He definitely deserves his due. This book is full of angst and isn't your usual Mpreg, Shifter, Alpha and Omega read. Yes it has sex, fated mates and an almost pack war. But it was almost a bit much. I am to find out what really happened to Simon, Dr. Frangulin and the members of Shadowhelm Pack that are mentioned here. Nolan and Sebastian are interesting characters and as fated mates they should have a HEA and deserve one since their beginning was so everntful. This is a new to me author and will give Ivy another read with the next book in the series.

Okay...

This is a dark read... SA makes a strong appearance in many of the interactions that Nolan and Simon have together...

Sabastien is a great Alpha and finds his mate in Nolan, an Omega from another pack... I was very interested to see how everything turned out between Sabastien and Nolan... Two pa KS with very different perspectives on the importance and treatment of their Omegas... Ownership vs Choices it was an intriguing outcome... Lots of turbulent interactions...

Strict Top/Bottom
A/B/O
Mpreg
SA
Violence
4 outta 5 in the 🔥🔥🔥 department

Grammar is a bit rough

This was the first in this series. It featured Nolan. He was a disappointment to him family because he was an omega. So they dropped him off at the omega housing and forgot about him. He caught the attention of Simon. Simon did what he wanted always so he forced Nolan to do things. He and his friends were not great. They hurt him anyway they could. He was in the woods and he smelled apples which meant his mate was close. Sebastian also smelled the same thing so they each ran towards the scent. Nolan didn’t trust people easily after all he went through. Great book.

Emotional Fated Mates Read!

I really enjoyed this book. I found it whipped me around the emotional rollercoaster quite a bit and I love emotional reads. I felt that Nolan and Sebastian were perfect for one another and their connection was felt off the page. I loved how Sebastian embraced and understood Nolan for what he had gone through and was protective and understanding of him. I also loved how Nolan gave Sebastian a chance, even though it would have been so hard for him to trust an alpha.

Great read, truly recommend!

I'm a huge fan of shifter, alpha/omega takes, but I have to say this is the first all M/M one I've read. I loved this book. It's got some non-con instances, which play into some of my favorite reading troupes. There is not one thing in this book that I didn't love!! It was absolutely fantastic!!

10,/10, I would highly recommend.

An author I haven't read before and I rather enjoyed it.
It is definately dark, but it has its more sweeter moments
A young tortured omega finds his alpha, a real knight in shining armour. But it's not all fairy tales for them, an evil classmate tries everything to tear them apart

Needs a bit of editing still, but all in all an interesting story.

too much for me

This is a new author for me…I can honestly say this book was too much in some spots…violent SA on page multiple times and Simon was so cruel and just plain crazy.

I love shifters and fated mates so that past of the story was good. It’s just the rest of it that was more than I’m used to.

That being said I liked her writing style…only a few minor errors…will see what else she has written.

Fated mates

This story introduced several different shifter packs. I think the author did a good job creating the back story as well as focusing on the main characters. While there were some hard things to read the overall story was one of strength, resilience, family and love. I hope the author continues this storyline as there are many characters I'd love to see get their own story.

Marked by the Alpha is a MM, fated mates novel.

Read the TW before delving into this one. There are some tougher moments throughout this book that might not be alright for everyone to read.

We see so much growth with Nolan. Once he is able to get away from his tormentors we can see who he truly is and see how well he interreacts with everyone. Sebastian is such a protector of those he cares about. We see him do everything he can to protect Nolan and give him the life he deserves.

This is an interesting shifter story with strong characters in Nolan and Sebastian. The author brings a fated mates romance and deals with Nolan's abuse and rape by his pack Alpha. Until Sebastian. His mate who rescues him. It's a slow burn romance and is an enjoyable read.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

This was a fun mixture of dark and sweet! Nolan has been tormented by his own pack before discovering his fated mate. Sebastian is sweet to and protective of Nolan with those touch him and d13 vibes. A slow burn tale of captured and rescued with a HEA and a mysterious ending raising your curiosity for new characters to come!

Intense interesting story. Trying to figure out the point. This was a really dark story. I wanted to get to the end hoping things got better. The characters were intense and not very likeable. Sign of a good author if they can keep you glued to the book in spite of your initial thoughts and opinions. Interesting. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Read the warnings about this book, but if like me you like this type of thing then it’s okay. There is a lot of SA and it’s back and forth between Simon being nasty to Nolan and Sebastian being sweet to him. Hoping for better editing in the next book.

I loved this MM shifter romance. There was a lot going on with thier relationship and I loved watching the way that the alpha tried to help his omega heal. There were some parts that got hard with the abuse the omega goes through but very good.
