French philosopher and former elected official in the National Assembly for the French Communist Party.
Garaudy is controversial for his anti-zionist views. He converted to Islam in 1982.
Born to Catholic and Jewish atheist parents in Marseille, Garaudy converted at age 14 and became a Protestant. During World War II, Garaudy joined the French Resistance, for which he was imprisoned in Djelfa, Algeria, as a prisoner of war of Vichy France. Following the war, Garaudy joined the French Communist Party. As a political candidate he succeeded in being elected to the National Assembly and eventually rose to the position of deputy speaker, and later senator.
Garaudy lectured in the faculty of arts department of the University Clermont-Ferrand from 1962-1965. Due to controversies between Garaudy and Michel Foucault, Garaudy left. He later taught in Poitiers from 1969-1972.
Garaudy remained a Christian and eventually re-converted to Catholicism during his political career. He was befriended by one of France's most prominent clerics of the time, the Abbé Pierre, who in later years supported Garaudy, even regarding the latter's most controversial views.
In 1970, Garaudy was expelled from the Communist Party following his outspoken criticism of the 1968 Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia.
Garaudy converted to Islam in 1982 after marrying a Palestinian woman, later writing that "The Christ of Paul is not the Jesus of the Bible," and also forming other critical scholarly conclusions regarding the Old and New Testaments. As a Muslim he adopted the name "Ragaa" and became a prominent Islamic commentator and supporter of the Palestinian cause. He was married to Salma Taji Farouki.

روجيه جارودي وهو لا يزال في مرحلة الشيوعية يقوم بعرض نقدي للفلسفة في أعمال الرسام بيكاسو و الشاعر جون بيرس و الكاتب كافكا.
لماذا قلت و هو في مرحلة الشيوعية؟ لأن الكتاب يحاول بشكل ضمني أن يربط أعمال المبدعين الثلاثة بالواقع.. فهو ليس ما يطلق عليه فن للفن .. بل فن للمجتمع.. و هذا بالطبع احد الأفكار الأساسية في الفكر الشيوعي..
فالفن و الأدب وسيلة للثورة.. وسيلة لتحطيم القيود الاجتماعية و القوانين البالية.. و هو أيضا ما نراه في الفكر الشيوعي المتطرف القائم على ثورة البروليتاريا..
على أي حال بعيدا عن تلك المحاولة فإنني وجدت الكتاب مفيدا للغاية... فجارودي كمثقف حقيقي -كونه شيوعيا لا ينفي عنه هذه الصفة بالتأكيد- يحاول أن يدخل في أعماق أعمال المبدعين الثلاثة ليكتشف الصلة فيها.. ليكتشف الحقيقة فيما وراء الشكل الخارجي..
استمتعت بعرضه لبيكاسو -المفترى عليه باعتباره بداية الموجة التجريدية الصرفة في الفن- .. فبيكاسو عند جارودي لم يحاول أن يفعل شيئا مجنونا .. لكنه فقط وجد أن العصر أصبح أكثر تطورا مما كان عليه في عصر النهضة عندما وضعت قوانين الرسم و الإضاءة.. فقام بيكاسو بثورة حقيقية في الفن لمسايرة الواقع.. و اتجاهاته التجريدية و التكعبيبة هى محاولة لعرض الواقع الحديث.. حيث العلاقات متداخلة مشابكة.. حيث لا شيء مستقل بذاته.. حيث توجد ملايين النظرات لنفس الحقيقة و كلها مختلفة! ... هذا ما حاول بيكاسو أن يقدمه للفن الحديث..
اتعبني قليلا البحث عن اللوحات المذكورة لكن البحث عنها كان يستحق..
أما عرضه لجون بيرس فلم أهتم به.. لا أحب الشعر و لا أؤمن بترجمة الشعر.. و بالتالي بالتأكيد لن أقرأ نقد شعري لشاعر أجنبي..
لكن الجزء الذي كان مثيرا جدا لي هو عرضه لكافكا.. بالرغم من قصر عدد صفحاته.. لكنه اعطاني نظرة مختلفة تماما لأعمال كافكا.. فكافكا أيضا في نظر جارودي هو مجدد و ثائر في مجال الادب إن جاز التعبير.. فنحن في العصر الذي أصبح فيه الإنسان سيدا للطبيعة.. من خلال تقدمه العلمي و التكنولوجي.. و أصبح بالتالي الصراع النفسي الذي يواجه الإنسان هو علاقته بالطبيعة.. هل فعلا هو من يقودها ؟ أم ان تلك السيطرة مجرد وهم؟ ماذا عن علاقته بالآخرين؟ بعد تطور المجتمعات و الزيادة السكانية الهائلة.. ما علاقة الإنسان بالآخر؟ هل هو في صراع ام تكامل؟.. و هكذا كانت أفكار كافكا هى العامل المحرك في كتاباته الفريدة من نوعها..
في هذا الجزء اختلفت مع جارودي في بعض تفسيراته لكافكا.. منها مثلا تفسيره للنهاية في قصة المحاكمة بأنها نهاية "متفائلة".. فبالرغم من النهاية الحزينة للبطل إلا ان الهدف هو الصراع نفسه.. الهدف هو ان تظل واقفا حتى آخر أنفاسك في وجه الظلم و الطغيان.. (لاحظ مرة أخرى خلفية جارودي الشيوعية) .. هذا ما رآه جارودي لكنني أرى أن النهاية متشائمة لأقصى درجة... الوسائل ليس لها أهمية طالما لم يتحقق الهدف.. ما فائدة الصراع طالما سنسقط في النهاية؟ البطل أشبه بأسطورة سيزيف الشهيرة..يداوم على بذل المجهود .. و في سبيل ماذا؟ لا شيء في النهاية! إذن كان مجهودا عبثيا تماما!.. هذا رأيي الشخصي...
لكن بالقطع وجهة نظر جارودي تحترم لأنه لديه ما يكفي من نظرة كلية جعلته يكون هذا الرأي...
يكفي أنني بعدما قرأت عرض جارودي قررت أن أعيد قراءة كافكا مرة أخرى.. و هذا هو تأثير النقد الهادف الجاد بالفعل!
في المجمل كتاب آخر مفيد للغاية.. كنت اتمنى أن أرى جارودي يعيد كتابته بعد إسلامه لأعرف ماذا كان سيتغير في رأيه..

the fact that surrealism is reality itself...
a painter, a poet and a writer
three main branches of art, three different big names and three separate proofs that surrealism has become reality itself...
although the book is very, very short for this topic, it is so intensely processed that a person can paint the world in his own colors and sense the effect that the architecture of cities creates subconsciously.
especially through the narratives of three artists, other artists living in the same period, and people around them, it teaches us how surrealism happened in a later period, how interesting the philosophy of time and space actually was, no matter how absurd it may have seemed at that time, it is only necessary to radically change our point of view in order to realize this. of course, the formation of the acquired point of view also brings with it some social influence, individual characteristics, characteristic structure and environmental factors. not every schizophrenic will make a great painting just because picasso is a schizophrenic. this is a book that has progressed by addressing the contradictions of these three artists and examining the things they oppose.
when we look at a painting, we should start by thinking about what he opposed rather than what he told.
because in life, no comes before yes.
by the way, the book gave special place to Kafka. Dec. in particular, he examined his internal contradictions, conflicts and the world he built in subheadings.
