What if finding the truth means you're not who - or what - you think you are? Born to a wealthy Virginian family, privileged Jordan's got her life all planned out. Get her PhD in forensic linguistics, make her State Senator father proud. Find the perfect Virginia man to marry and pop out a few more Kacy's. If only Jordan could let the past rest. When your mother disappears without a trace it carves a gash that bleeds a long time. Jordan has never given up hope that her mother is alive. So when Jordan's old nanny shows up with a mysterious locket containing a portrait of Jordan's mother, Jordan believes her hope was not in vain. When the locket opens a portal to an alternate universe and a stranger hurtles through to earth, it's not her first clue that something very strange is at play. Teaming up with Sol, a disgruntled courier who's lost his wings, Jordan embarks on a haphazard quest. Facing off with interfering barmaids, terrifying harpies, and disorganized elves with a penchant for inventing magic they can't reverse is only the beginning.
Ascendant
What if the one person who is supposed to love you unconditionally, wants to kill you instead? Before you go looking for answers, make sure you can handle the truth. Jordan is a step closer to uncovering the mystery of her mother’s disappearance. Sol can finally make his urgent delivery and Allan has received Jordan’s message, but instead of giving him comfort it has only made him desperate. And what is with these strange glass bugs, anyway? Could they be the secret to finding his missing daughter? Fiddling with Elven magic could become the biggest regret of Allan’s life. Meanwhile, a young dragon has imprinted on Jordan, her companion for life whether she likes it or not. That’s alright, he’s just a little guy…pretty harmless... When the locket with her mother’s portrait inside begins to behave strangely she learns that what seems a simple family heirloom is actually a magic compass… Following the locket means there is no turning back. Jordan finds herself running for her life from someone she expected would welcome her with open arms. When two friends show up with a terrifying report of Allan’s whereabouts, can Jordan survive long enough to rescue her father?
Combatant
Rodania's protective magic is broken. There is no military. Who's going to step up? Jordan’s father is in deep trouble. He's trapped in the tombs of Trevilsom, and rescuing him is only the first of her challenges. When she, Toth and Eohne find him, Allan is a shadow of his former self and even Eohne isn't sure how to help him. Meanwhile, on the islands of Rodania, several attacks by harpies suggest sabotage. How else could they be getting through the magical protections? The Rodanian government has been arrogant enough to assume a military wouldn’t be necessary, leaving the nation vulnerable. This costly mistake could well spell catastrophe for Rodania’s citizens, unless action is taken, now. So, why is the King so slow to respond? When Toth is commissioned to raise a Strix army, Jordan joins to train in weaponry and combat, but she can’t help wishing they all had guns. It would feel damn good to shoot a harpy in the face. As if the imminent harpy threat wasn’t enough, it’s rapidly becoming evident that Jordan’s dragon, Blue, is not the Predoian Miniature they thought he was. How long before the dragon is banished from the Kingdom of Rodania for good? When Jordan and Sol take on a dangerous assignment to return to Virginia and bring back something that may help revive Allan, she returns to the Elf Princes, Sohne–who is expecting her. Too late, Jordan learns that to succeed in helping her father, she’ll have to leave Blue behind and give up her wings.
Transcendent
When the aftermath of battle is just the calm before the storm… The battle with the harpies is over, but some believe that the harpy threat will never be over until the harpies are exterminated. If the Strix combatants pursue the harpies to their home in the caves of Golpa, can they end the war?

Kacy Chronicles Boxed Set The Revelations of Oriceran By: A. L. Knorr, Martha Carr, Michael Anderle Narrated by: Mikael Naramore This set contains four books, #1 - 4. I think teens will absolutely love this book, along with some young adults. As a senior, but I have been reading sci fi and fantasy since I have been 5, I thought it was cute but lacked something else I needed. It had a lot I did like. Winged handsome men, ( wink, wink), elves, all manner of creatures, good vs evil, exciting situations, great characters, suspense, and more. I am rating this as if I was a teen, since I am assuming this is what the target audience is. 4 stars. I would give it 3 stars otherwise. Worth the read! The narration was top notch!
I completely and utterly LOVE this! It’s my dream come true in writing lol. Although I think at 52 I’m too old for this to be enjoyable for me anymore foflmao. I rationed myself to a few chapters a day because I wanted it to never end and now it’s over! Sad! Maybe they will read this review and decide to write about what happens to Toth or someone, anyone, else! PLEASE do!
800+ page crawl to have about 100 pages to quickly sew up the fraying plot lines. Decent world building, piggy backed off the other Series set in the fantasy universe. At times I found the MC annoying but did enjoy the band of people she fell in with. Several plot lines were stunted, rushed or brushed away to the detriment of the whole.
This is a box set of the 4 volumes, the first three hanging begging for the reader to read the next section. Publishers really know how to market small tidbits then rake in the cash. Atleast MA’s crew offers just about everything at 99 cents at some point.
Overall there were problems but it is still a nice fantasy about an earth girl finding a new life in a strange new land
Aug 2021 update - I purchased the first book in print for my grandson who liked it and wanted the rest. They were purchased too. I don't mind supporting good authors!
Book 1 of 4 = Descendant 2021 grade B+ Another 99 cent Kindle package deal. This fantasy series is written and published with the same group of people used in The Witch Next Door series, which is how I found it. Descendant was quite enjoyable with diverse characters driving the story. The characters were intelligent and stayed in character most of the time except for some illogical actions and bickering in the first quarter. The universe basically already exists in fantasy so all the author has to do is add their own twist. They are good twists and I enjoyed the book but one still feels a little cheated when the alternate universe turns out to be regular magical harpies, dragons, elves, etc. The end is a a soft cliff hanger, in case that bothers you, but the rest of the stories are in the collection. I will see how book 2 goes in a while.
Book 2 of 4 = Ascendant 2021 grade B Book 2 is a good strong sequel. There is adequate expansion of the world building and the character development. As with other books from the publisher, a missing mom is one of the themes. She is found in this one, but that might not be a good thing. And the set up for more problems is the protagonist's dad is now in danger. Again the end is a soft cliff hanger. I just kept on reading into book 3.
Book 3 of 4 = Combatant 2021 grade B- As you might guess from the title, this book has the battles, and the protagonist becomes a warrior. It also starts the dirty politics and the "deals with the devil." Although it is very well written I don't care for politics or deals, and I find battles to be the boring action equivalent of a bus ride. The book starts with the dad's rescue, pretty tense. Unfortunately the story immediately moves into a battle with no break for comic relief or even down time. Since it was the same type of battle portrayed in the previous books, I skimmed through it. The later battles were more of the same and I massively speed read through those skipping large portions. The details between the fights were good, despite the politics and deals. I'll wait a while before reading book 4.
Book 4 of 4 = Transcendent 2021 grade B- Roughly the first half of this book was a bit tedious, and I sped through it by reading the start of the long paragraphs and skipping to the next paragraph. Part of the tedium was in the portions concerning only the villains. The rest were overly detailed descriptions of rooms, clothing, and one long fight scene. But there are parts that are needed so they cannot just be skipped overall.
The climax is two "battles" back to back and I read them both in one sitting. The major physical battle was very well handled and was read completely. It is followed by the final dirty politics battle which is courtroom style. Courtroom arguments are not something I enjoy, and I speed read the prosecution. The defense was the magical equivalent of CCTV - an interesting if not new concept. But it felt like a bit of a cheat because there was no other evidence and without it the villains would have won.
The wrap up after that is fairly long because the story is complex, but it is Grade A and only involved minor speed reading. Overall, a good story.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = The Kacy Chronicles overall review 2021 Grade B This is an enjoyable chronicle of a complex fantasy story. It is a bit tedious or overwritten in places and even predictable. But it is otherwise interesting and very well done. I did not find any of the fantasy aspects new to me, but the use of them with incredible characters was excellent. Considering SciFi is my preferred genre, this was an enjoyable story and I might read it again some day.
I loved this whole series that's why 5 stars***** if I could give it more I would of. I loved every character or disliked few. I would hope Abby is writing about Toth and Eohone(sp?) adventures. Anyyhing about Orcerion I would love to read. Thanks Abby for all your writing, you have a way with words that makes me reading to the end.
Descendant: The Revelations of Oriceran (The Kacy Chronicles #1). WOW! Incredible read! Captivating characters. Attention-grabbing storyline. Better yet the first book in a multi-book series. If you love fantasy this is a must-read. Ascendant: The Revelations of Oriceran (The Kacy Chronicles #2). AGAIN WOW! Another incredible read from author A.L. Knorr! After having read the kick-ass first book. Captivating characters. Attention-grabbing storyline. The second book in a multi-book series it picks up where the first book left off, in the middle of things. If you love fantasy this series is a must-read. Combatant: The Revelations of Oriceran (The Kacy Chronicles #3). WOW! Another incredible read from author A.L. Knorr! After having read the first 2 kick-ass first books in this series this one was a must! Captivating characters. Attention-grabbing storyline. The third book in a multi-book series it picks up where the second book left off, in the middle of things. If you love fantasy this series is a must-read. As much as I want to read the conclusion I want the storyline to continue. Transcendent: The Revelations of Oriceran (The Kacy Chronicles #4). WHAT AN INCREDIBLE RIDE this 4 book series has been! Another incredible book from author A.L. Knorr! After having read the first 3 kick-ass books in this series this one was a must! Captivating characters. Attention-grabbing storyline. The fourth and concluding book in a multi-book series it picks up where the third book left off, in the middle of things. If you love fantasy this series is a must-read. A.L. Knorr has moved into my list of favorite authors! I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I enjoyed the vocal talents of narrator Mikael Naramore. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
It was a really good story, but there was a lot of little things I wanted to nitpick. Little inconsistencies and tiny plot holes.
One example is all of the modern English sayings that the fantasy world characters used. Sayings like "Don't jump the gun." When they don't even have guns. Jumping the gun originates from racing when they used a gun to signal the start of the race. There is no possible way that would become a common thing in a fantasy world where guns don't exist except in stories of Earth. Another thing that bugged me was, how did wearing dresses become a necessary formal dress among a race of flying people? I can see how dresses would exist or people who want to look fancy or robes for people who just want something simple to wear at home. But for women to be required to wear a dress when they're very culture should push away from dresses. The whole city is built around flying because they all have wings. It would have to be really awkward for anybody trying to fly around with a dress. Not only difficult trying to keep anyone from looking up the dress when they fly over them, but also in trying to maneuver properly with a dress flapping around. There are a lot of other little things like this that bothered me, but the very fact that I finished all four books should show that I still quite enjoyed this series. This little and consistencies where far enough between them that I could get over one annoyance before noticing another. If there was too many too close together, I might have gotten annoyed enough to quit. I've been reading too many books and it doesn't take much to put me off of one nowadays.
In the author’s own words, The Kacy Chronicles were started in July 2017 and finished in March 2018. Well I’m glad that I didn’t pick part one up in 2017 because I would have been spitting chips! The KCs are not a series they are one long story. I recently picked up a book (at least I was under that impression) on someone’s recommendation that turned out to be the first part of a serial. I read so quickly and so many books that trying to remember what happened before, once the next instalment comes out, takes unnecessary time. When I got to the end and realised that there was no follow on I was so angry that I nearly gave it a scathing review. I, personally, think that it’s fraud to dupe a person into acquiring the first few chapters of a book then leaving them waiting for months for the next instalment! I rethought my first instinct and just wouldn’t review it. In this instance you can buy Jordan’s story in one go and I highly recommend that you do so. By the way, I don’t know where the authors got the word ‘coronated’ from but you just need to substitute ‘crowned’ and you’ll be fine. Otherwise, The KCs is a delightful fantasy set in another world that is full of mythical creatures. The main ones are Arpaks and Nychts. They are flying humanoids who belong to the same race but one is diurnal and the other nocturnal. There are also Harpies, Elves and dragons. This is the old story of good against evil, justice and injustice and a lost mother. It is suitable for all ages and all Fantasy lovers
This audio book contains all four of the Kacy chronicles and takes you with Jordan through finding out her origin to defending an alternate world. Jordan is home from college for the summer. Her senator father is busy but a surprise visit from her former nanny and a stranger drags her to another dimension. Jordan is on the search for her mother who went missing when she was a child and the search takes her to different parts of Oriceran. Jordan’s search for her mother continues and she learns her life isn’t what she thought and she herself isn’t who she though. After a visit with the elves and learning that she has wings shes off with Sol to Rodania. Her friends and the journey are fascinating and her father ends up coming through the portal as well. Now shes off to find her mom and her dad. Jordan and her friends rescue her dad and head back to Rodania and on the way encounter a harpy. Finding that the harpies have attached Rodania while they were gone Toth is asked to stay and create an army to fight. Jordan starts training and helps defend Rodania from the Harpies. Blue is still around although not as major of a character as he is getting a little large for Rodania! Jordan and her group of friends plan a final harpy battle at the source and the final conclusion to the book is suspenseful and exhilarating. I cannot recommend this series highly enough. I am hoping for spin-offs on the supporting characters
These characters were easy to love and bond with. Their stories and lives are fascinating and I felt very involved. The magic felt plausible and the whole world just felt possible. That's exactly what I want in a fantasy book!
I really wanted to give this 5 stars as I enjoyed it so much but... I find that the writer gets a bit carried away with being wordy at times, for instance with dragons, she finds it difficult in repeating the word and starts calling them reptiles (possibly other words too) and I get a bit frustrated with that, it takes away from the pleasure in the story, I feel that it diminishes what a dragon represents, I start speaking aloud saying things like "they are dragons, just call them dragons, they aren't pet lizards kept in a tank in your living room, just call them ***** dragons". This probably sounds a bit unusual, but to me dragons are awesome, they aren't just reptiles, they are magnificent flying creatures, and Blue truly loved Jordan and she loved him, and to use words like reptile or lizard just diminishes what he is and makes him sound mundane.
To others it won't spoil their enjoyment and I would still say to anyone that likes fantasy this is a great read and anyone should be able to enjoy it. I hope you do 😁
Wow! At one point I had to stop, I was so concerned what would happen next.
It makes me so happy I could not guess a single thing - not one! And mind you I read a lot so most of the time I am able to guess what could happen next.
It felt as if I jumped into a wonderful world of Oriceran and lived their incredible adventures. The characters were so good, you enjoy loving them and cheering them up, as much as you enjoy hating them and hoping they meet their timely doom.
Every question was answered I am so grateful for that - and still would enjoy more books about the other characters.
Heart was beating faster, my eyebrows were shooting up so much I believe they are now sporting more muscle than before and my palm were sweaty because there was action in this adventure and a lot!
I love the fact that in the end close friends are a family we choose, not necessarily the family we are born into. I do envy you new reader for your introduction to Oriceran, trust me - jump in and enjoy the sights in this epic adventure fantasy!
What a fun story--interesting, intelligent characters, nice world-building, and good editing!
I enjoyed that nothing was overdone. Although there was an important dragon bond, it wasn't the focus of everything; though there was attraction, it didn't become cloying; the antagonists were plenty evil without overdramatic, gory, dragged-out detail. It just felt well-rounded overall.
As for offensive content, it was refreshingly lacking. I seem to remember a few expletives, but they were few, far between and mild. No sex, no religion hating, no bloody, graphic violence. Good job!
The series came to an end with a nice wrap-up. I did not feel anything important was left hanging, but can see the possibility for more books in the future.
Thank you for the great, time spent in a new world. I shall miss continuing there. I plan to look for more books by this author.
Wow! What a ride. Jordan grows up a senator's daughter, well aware of the ins & outs of power and those who wield it. She stumbles upon an Oriceran portal, and an injured courier comes tumbling through. He opens it next & she stumbles through with him, dressed in only her night clothes & barefoot. Things get weirder from there. Staying alive is their 1st priority, getting his message through a very close 2nd. The two of them get into all sorts adventures and pick up new friends along the way. She eventually finds her mother, and more family than she dreamed of. Nice HEA . Not sure that Jordan sees it that way, but... Most folks end up getting what they need &/or deserve by the end of the 4th book. I reccomend all 4 books. Solid 4.5 stars.
A L Knorr wrote a fascinating story about Jordan Kacy, teenaged daughter of a US senator, whose mother has disappeared without a trace in her youth. When a very unusual man falls through a portal in her yard, her life is flipped on its head as she’s plummeted into the most amazing adventures and discoveries. She faces incredible challenges while pursuing her hope of finding her lost mother on the other side of the portal.
Knorr writes adventures the way they should be written, clean and pure enough that any age can enjoy it, without unnecessary profanity or intimate scenes.
If you’ve never read an A. L. Knorr book, this is a great one to start with. Her series on the elemental teens is also fascinating.
Loved this introduction to the Ocerian world! In many of the other Ocerian universe books the Arpaks are there but never in such detail
Loved all the characters Even those added near the end Plus the righting of big wrongs
Hopefully the world can learn, however, even today we see petty monarchs so afraid they will not stay in control that they are willing to destroy the whole world
True freedom of choice means they might not get chosen and that scares them; most of us are just looking for our next meal and times to enjoy with family and friends!
What can I say? The Kacy Chronicles blew me away! Without spoiling anything, the way it was written, the way things developed are far from the usual we see in any genre. Just when you thought it things are being either too obvious or too fast, it wasn't the big reveal, it wasn't the surprise twist. This for me was refreshing.
There were also minor drops that would have taken attention but were simply not in this series. Like "what? Why was it mentioned?" And then you realised there's a story to tell there in another time.
A wonderful set of books. Absolutely brilliant storylines and incredible characters from the first minute of reading to the last. The detailed descriptions of locations, characters and immersive feelings could not have been made better. I "felt" to have been there. I can't find any better words and can only express my gratitude for the authors besides that I can recommend this series to anyone able to read and appreciate friendship and camaraderie whilst living adventure.
Audio review for The Kacy Chronicles. Complete series By A.L.Knorr and Martha Carr. Narrated by Mikael Naramore
The stories of the characters were easy to follow. I fell in love with Jordon and Sol straight away . And adored Blue from the off. The unusual of mix one one universe meeting another gave this story line a twist . The magic felt real and easy to understand. The easy mix of everyday things mixing with the unusual really kept my interest. I lived this story. Everyone needs a BLUE.
The Kacy Chronicles are knit tight and double wrapped for a cozy read through these long “shelter in place” days of social space. The story makes an impression that remains if the book is set aside for another read left open on another device. Then with a few sentences back in, the scenes left behind for a term are settling right back into place. A lot of intriguing developments and a satisfying ending! Thoroughly enjoyed the series and looking forward to more from the author(s).
The Kacy Chronicles are a set of beautifully written books. The authors’ did a wonderful job creating the world these books take place in. Their descriptions captured my attention and made Jordan and Sol’s tale come to life. The characters are well developed and I enjoyed getting know each of them. If you love discovering new words, solving mysteries, action with a bit of romance I think you might enjoy Jordan and Sol’s tale as well.
The Oriceran Universe ignites the imagination of readers and takes them into the minds of amazing authors and the Kacy Chronicles is no exception. Fast paced, on the edge of your seat action with cliffhangers that just make you want more! To be able to see in your mind the development of characters and how they grow with the story is amazing. ALL BOOKS in this universe is a must read.
Kacy Chronicles is fantasy done the right way.A well thought out, well executed journey into an alternate reality. A fun attention grabbing story line to keep you engaged throughout this really was a fine job of storytelling truly captivating at times and always keeping you guessing and wanting to know what's to happen next.Tremendously entertaining four stars.
Following the life of.. first a politician's daughter who happens to find a man. He isn't what he seems, she isn't what she thought and the whole mess gets even more twisted. It has taken for nights to read this and now I wish it weren't finished. The Kacy family provided a full tale of betrayal, mystery, love, friendship, and acceptance. Fantasy with magic, elves, and flying people. Perfection.. a must read in my books.
I have read many of the Oricerin books and, so far, the books of The Revelations of Oriceran, are by far my absolute favorites. The quality of the writing is stellar! The characters are tremendously believable. It is my sincere hope that there will be many more books like this. The author, A. L. Knorr, that's a very bright future ahead of her. Thank you very much for the hard work that went into these books.
I loved this series! I’m all about fantasy and supernatural and this was truly hard to put down once I started. When I saw this was the only collaboration from this trio of authors my stomach dropped. I couldn’t fathom not returning to Oricera! While this may be all of Jordan Kacys story, however, I was ecstatic to find there is more in the Oriceran universe! I’ve already downloaded The Leira Chronicles and can’t wait to dive in 🥰
I could not put this series down! I would recommend reading this to all! It has just the right amount of a love story, with a bit of blood and gore, a good bad guy (or girl depending on how you look at it ), and dragons! All good stories have dragons...right! You should read this series...that’s all I’m saying!
I love the book series deals. I read the Elementals series now the Kacy Chronicles. It’s great to have them all together. And I’m never disappointed. The battles with harpies got a bit dragged out but that also gave a sense of the hopelessness of it. Great twists in these stories.
This bookset is a fantastic series. This story is full of intrigue and mystery. And was written fantastic. The Narrator has really brought the characters out. The Author has done a fantastic job at world building and creating the characters to where it seems they are jumping of the pages, and the scenes are epic. I definitely recommend this more than 5 star read. Shauna Joesten
My review is based on the audiobook. What a spectacular series that primarily takes place in an alternate reality where many fascinating creatures reside. The story flows naturally from book to book in this boxed set. The narrator does a great job bringing the story and characters to life. I look forward to more from this author
