Rodania's protective magic is broken. There is no military. Who's going to step up?

Jordan’s father is in deep trouble. He's trapped in the tombs of Trevilsom, and rescuing him is only the first of her challenges. When she, Toth and Eohne find him, Allan is a shadow of his former self and even Eohne isn't sure how to help him.

Meanwhile, on the islands of Rodania, several attacks by harpies suggest sabotage. How else could they be getting through the magical protections? The Rodanian government has been arrogant enough to assume a military wouldn’t be necessary, leaving the nation vulnerable. This costly mistake could well spell catastrophe for Rodania’s citizens, unless action is taken, now. So, why is the King so slow to respond?

When Toth is commissioned to raise a Strix army, Jordan joins to train in weaponry and combat, but she can’t help wishing they all had guns. It would feel damn good to shoot a harpy in the face.

As if the imminent harpy threat wasn’t enough, it’s rapidly becoming evident that Jordan’s dragon, Blue, is not the Predoian Miniature they thought he was. How long before the dragon is banished from the Kingdom of Rodania for good?

When Jordan and Sol take on a dangerous assignment to return to Virginia and bring back something that may help revive Allan, she returns to the Elf Princes, Sohne–who is expecting her. Too late, Jordan learns that to succeed in helping her father, she’ll have to leave Blue behind and give up her wings.

Can Jordan revive her father and live through the harpy onslaught for long enough to fix her broken family?

Welcome to Oriceran. The veils between the worlds are thin. Come see what’s on the other side.

The third book of the series is action packed and doesn't let up at all. Jordan needs to save her Dad and finally gets the truth about her mother, which isn't what she was expecting at all.
Jordan makes more friends and allys and she getting stronger and more skilled every day but the promise she made to Sohne is hanging over her. Luckily, amidst all the adventures, my favourite character, Blue, is there to save the day with a friend of his own. Once again there is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end but not as bad as previously.

In all honesty I begged for an advance copy and felt blessed to have one to review. I finished it in three days, over Christmas, Oh My!!! Yes, a Fantastic read. I began my reading of Knorr’s works with her Elemental series and I highly recommend those books. Well written, great concept. Then I saw the Kacy Chronicles by both Knorr and Carr. So I thought “Why not?” I found out I love the world of Oriceran where Kacy ends up. What a fun place to explore, map, experience. But then I love to read Speculative Fiction. With the first two books, Descendant and Ascendant I found I greatly liked the main character Jordan. Self-assured, intelligent, amusing, and ready for adventure. All these character traits and more define Jordan as she copes with a new world filled with very different players than Earth. Combatant has so many twists and turns it isn’t predictable like some Spec Fic can be and that in itself makes it enjoyable. Without giving any spoilers, because I hate them myself, I highly recommend this book. Now I am eagerly awaiting the release of Transcendent, the fourth and final book of the Kacy Chronicles.

Wow!

This book is so brilliantly written!

The fight scenes are amazing, and had me biting my nails, and holding my breath, countless times!

The whole of this book was one surprise after another, one revelation after another, and it kept me guessing right up to the end which, of course, ended in a cliffhanger, once more - which means that I just want to go instantly the the fourth, and last, book of this series, to find out what will happen next!

Jordan has really come on so well since first getting her wings, and the training with Toth has made her the best warrior she can be - although I'm guessing that, even with this, there'll be room for improvement! Lol

Her and Sol's rescue of her father, Allan, was spectacular with, of course, the help of many others, plus Eohne's magical/scientific, help.

This really is an amazing series, on par with Michael Anderle's Kurtherian Series - and no better praise could I find than this!

Basically, this one was unputdownable, and I'm not wasting a moment more than I have to, so that I can get on to book four: 'Transcendant'!

So, I'm now off to start reading and, once I've finished, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know just what I think of it!

When the Book fits, it sits proudly on my shelf. This was an excellent book, with lots of drama and action. Some twists and turns even I didn’t see coming, though I should have. I can highly recommend this one.

Jordan, Toth and Eohne all go on a rescue mission for Jordan’s father from the infamous Trevilsom prison. Finally, we get to learn a little more about the place. Been looking forward to that. What happens afterwards is great too, just beware of Harpies.

Character development is at a steady and reasonable pace. Things rush sometimes, but for good reason. Character growth is shown but the time that passes is realistic and shown well. Things don’t magically happen overnight or at least seem to because the author doesn’t give a good sense of time passing.

Overall, this is one of the best series in the Oriceran universe I’ve read. A.L Knorr should be proud, and this book is an excellent addition to the Kacy Chronicles. I am glad to have read this one and hope that if you do, you enjoy it as well.

Narrator does a good job. His voice fits the fantasy style of the story. Enjoyable listening.

This is book 3, so be sure to read the previous books first for the full story.

The whole beginning of this story is Jordan trying to figure out how she can save her father from a prison island; luckily she has some friends along for help. That’s a fun and dangerous adventure. Then it’s about Toth and the shady stuff going on with the harpys and such in Rodania; which I think the whole crew should’ve asked more questions about what was going on with the King. Then Jordan is doing some training, which is awesome to read about her getting her warrior on. She does need to take more than a second making important decisions though. There’s a pinch more romance in this one, which I was happy about. Still loving the magical adventure that been going on for this whole series so far! Excited to read book 4 for the finale!

I loved Descendant and Ascendant, the first two books in A.L. Knorr and Martha Carr’s Kacy Chronicles , A Revelations of Oriceran series and have been looking forward to book 3. Well, let me tell you that book, Combatant, did not disappoint. The characters, especially the lead Jordan, are simply stellar, and it’s a pleasure following along as Jordan continues to develop. The universe created by its authors for the characters to inhabit - especially is its dragons (I love dragons) - is perfectly crafted, and the portal fantasy plot, with its adventure, thrills and - as promised - epic fight scenes (and yes, even a touch of romance), is just superb. I know, lots of superlatives in this review, but it’s just that kind of a book.

Highly recommended.

Great Battle

This story is gripping from beginning to end. Jordan's father is rescued, but in a coma. All the Strix, both Nycht and Arpac, have formed an army to guard against the Harpies. Jordan and Sol journey to Earth to get some gold and ballistic type help. They got help in making the journey from Sohne, the elf leader, but at a great cost yet to be named. Jordan's father, Allan, fibally wakes up. They battle against the Harpies at a great cost. Jordan learns something very disturbing anout her family.

This final book in the series is so twisty that I could see some things coming and had a few OH I KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN! Or ah-ha moments as well. The suspense of the final harpy battle and the death of the king will put you on the edge of your seat.  And the last few chapters are a whirlwind.  I don’t want to give anything away but I think the future for Rodania and all of Oriceran is brighter at the end of the book.  Looking forward to spin-offs on the supporting characters of the book.

Excellent!

As an avid reader, I have already numerous books by both the fabulously talented Martha Carr, and the incredibly talented Michael Anderle. However, I believe that with this series, it's the first time I've read anything by A.L. Knorr and I'm very impressed.

This series is an earlier Oriceran story about a young woman who believed she was human until she went through a portal and discovered her true heritage.

There is plenty of action, deception, and romance. I am looking forward to reading book 4.

WOW! Another incredible read from author A.L. Knorr! After having read the first 2 kick-ass first books in this series this one was a must! Captivating characters. Attention-grabbing storyline. The third book in a multi-book series it picks up where the second book left off, in the middle of things. If you love fantasy this series is a must-read. As much as I want to read the conclusion I want the storyline to continue. I cannot wait to read book 4!

A truly epic fantasy of EPIC proportions

This is a great story! I loved the characters, the scenery, the word of Oriceran! There is nothing NOT to love about this story, except the end. That awful word 'finis' when it is NOT the end. One more book I can't wait for. There is too much yet to find answers to, too much anticipation, and too much mystery yet to be uncovered. I love it!

,,,,,Wings To Fight

Jordan has a lot on her plate: rescue her father, stay live when an assassin hunts her, stay alive while being chased by harpies, and stay alive while fighting for her new home. This is a great series. I still love the Jordan character and feel that I am right there with them, living their adventures with them. I like the action, humor, and intrigue. I look forward to the next book.

This series each ends on a bit of a cliff hanger. There is one more book to this series. I am looking forward to listening. On this book I was just thinking it needed a bit more romance and finally there was a bit more of a relationship develop between Jordan and Sol. The first part of this book didn’t mention Sol much. It was really focused on the start of army and Jordan joint the forces. This book is also were we see what happens to Jordan’s dad and more of her own history.

Wonderful

I really enjoyed watching Jordan grow further and the story had a few interesting twists to it. I personally found that the final battle Carried on a little too long, but overall it was a really good story. I think the next one should answer the remaining questions or at least we can hope it does. 😎

Continues to keep me reading

!I've this series. With the characters that are finally getting emotional with each other. But...when will Sol and Jordan make it official? Would Love to see a Jaclyn series that tells her story. It seems to bre good for a series too. Read this and see what you think. The story is crisis and mayhem mixed with excitement and believability.

More twists than a liquorice rope!

I won't give it away, but I didn't think I could be surprised any more than I already was. More amazing aerial fight scenes, described in such detail, it was like watching a movie. I've not been disappointed even once by this author. Great book!

Breathtaking revelations

Wow! Lots of action, twists, turns, and some unresolved issues for Transcendent. Jordan is growing and learning, and much is happening in the world of the Strix. I do hope Jordan's story will continue after Transcendent.

When I started reading this was a trilogy. Now there are 4 books in the series and I am delighted to have more of this engrossing story. As the story has evolved and the characters have grown, I have enjoyed each book a little more. Thank you for a great series, Abby-Lynn and Martha.

Jordan must learn to fight for her new home. Her dad is in a coma and her mother is apparently an enemy. So Jordan and company must defend her new home against a harpy invasion. Lots of fun and mayhem to be had.
