With growing threats to the ranch, Spencer must decide what is truly important and whether he’ll allow himself to love again before it’s too late. “This one’s worth rounding up.” — Booklist, on Falling for the Cowgirl
*All of the books in the Colorado Cowgirls series are sweet, closed-door romances with plenty of sizzle. The inspirational themes are light, and the romance is the main focus of the books.
Jody Hedlund is the best-selling author of over fifty books and is the winner of numerous awards. She writes sweet historical romances with plenty of sizzle. Find out more at jodyhedlund.com.
Jody lives in central Michigan with her husband, five busy children, and five spoiled cats. When she’s not penning another of her page-turning stories, she loves to spend her time reading, especially when it also involves consuming coffee and chocolate.
Artistic Courtney sister Patience doubts that she has strengths. When an unknown cousin comes to claim the home she recently inherited, Patience sees marriage as the only solution.
The third in the series is a sweet romance.
My gratitude to author Jody Hedlund for a complimentary e-copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Fun and romance in the old West. One of my favorite tropes is a marriage of convenience but this one has a little twist of a mistaken bride. Also, Evangeline, the 4 year old daughter of the hero is a ray of sunshine who gets into lots of mischief. I love that Patience is a creative soul who crafts and paints to bring joy into an otherwise desolate western ranch. Patience is trying to shed her rigid Quaker upbringing while still wanting to please God. The hero, Spencer, needs to convince Patience that he really wants her to be his wife and he may need a little convincing himself. Spencer is a worthy man who is hardworking and loves his daughter but sometimes cannot control her. There is an added element of intrigue when a long lost cousin arrives. Miss Hedlund spices up the romance of these two married people with just the right touch. This may be my favorite the Colorado Cowgirls. We will see after the next book! *I received a complimentary ebook copy from the author. I was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are my own.*
Convincing The Cowgirl is another wonderful story in this series, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It’s a delightful marriage of convenience tale, with great characters, a sweet romance, and an engaging storyline.
I loved Patience. She was a bit naive, easily scattered and distracted, but was always bringing love, joy, and beauty to everyone. I loved her sweetness and innocence, and how she so naturally took to mothering Evangeline.
Spencer’s character was great. He’s a loving and caring father, but too consumed with the success of his ranch. I loved how that changed. The betrayal of his first wife broke his heart and made trusting people difficult. He fought giving his heart to Patience, but her sweetness, goodness, and beauty were irresistible. The chemistry and romantic tension between the two was well done.
And precocious 4 year old Evangeline was absolutely adorable! She was a show stealer!
This can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading the first two books for an enhanced reading experience.

Often when I read a book, I get attached to a particular character. Usually, it is the hero or the heroine, but not always. Although I enjoyed reading about Spencer and Patience in this story, my favorite character was Evangeline, Spencer’s daughter by his first wife. Evangeline was a precocious four-year-old who loved her papa with all of her being. When she got it in her little head that she wanted to see her papa, she would get on her pony and go find him. When Patience came into the picture, she basically lived up to her name, showing immense patience with Evangeline, while finding ways to keep her entertained. Running a close second for favorite character was Tex. Tex showed an exceptional amount of wisdom and was not hesitant to share it with his boss. He tried to do whatever Spencer told him to, while trying to keep Evangeline from getting hurt. As soon as the story opened, before Spencer, Evangeline, and Tex stepped into the picture, Lizette and Gage showed up at the front door of Courtney Boardinghouse and informed Patience that Lizette was the daughter of the uncle from whom Patience and her sisters had inherited their home. Unceremoniously, she is told that she and her sister, Felicity, must vacate the premises by the next morning. That would be enough to throw anyone into a tizzy. Then, along comes Spencer, ready to take a wife who will be a mama to his little girl. And the excitement begins. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
This book has all of the great parts of a wonderful story--characters that are enjoyable (Spencer, Patience, Evangeline and Tex), plot that is interesting (marriage of convenience) and romance (the sparks between the characters is chemical)! I can't wait to read the story of the youngest sister, Felicity!
Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.
I devoured this book in one day. I couldn't put it down. It wasn't like I was reading. I was fully immersed in the story. Convincing the Cowgirl grabbed me from the very start and didn't let go. Patience is a fun and artistic character who brings life and love wherever she goes. She may get distracted by her many artistic endeavors, but she knows what needs to be done and works hard. Spencer is a serious, dark-haired, British, brooding cowboy whose past hurts make it hard for him to gauge relationships. There was one exquisite paragraph where Spencer is described in detail, and at the end all I could think was she just described the ideal love interest. The romantic tension is heady. There is such attraction and care between the two of them that you really get to feel them falling in love. The cousin showing up in the beginning to claim her inheritance was a unique twist that really raised the stakes of the story. Then how this all played out with them in the cellar and the rattlesnakes, made for a dramatic turn of events toward the end. It was especially wonderful how Patience and Spencer didn't wallow in their insecurities. They had them, but for most of the story, they were trying to do their best in spite of them. It was only when something truly bad happened that those uncertainties became overwhelming, and they started to listen to them instead of the truth. Sometimes in other books the characters deny the truth to the point where it is almost unbelievable. It was so nice to see them trying to connect and be kind to each other and not letting their fears take hold until something momentous actually did happen. I would have liked for the villains to have a bit more justice, but I also need to remind myself often that not every storyline gets tied up with a perfect bow. Sometimes things get put back to right and the villains don't get 100% of the justice they deserve. Convincing the Cowgirl was an excellent read that had the right amounts of tension, danger, and romance to keep you hooked from start to finish. I received a complimentary advanced reader copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Convincing the Cowgirl was a wonderful and delightfully swoony marriage of convenience tale. I loved that Patience struggled with reading people accurately. She would miss both subtle and sometimes straightforward clues, which made her unsure of herself, especially around Spencer, as she tried to determine how he felt about her. She was also delightfully distractable, which could sometimes cause problems, yet many times ended up bringing beauty in the form of fun projects to liven up a home. She was so patient and understanding with Evangeline and had a real knack for engaging the little girl in activities she enjoyed.
Spencer’s character was so great! He was a handsome cowboy who had relocated from England. He was obviously a caring father, yet was a very busy man on his ranch, which left him little time to keep an eye on his precocious little girl. He had also been badly betrayed and did not trust people easily. Giving his heart to his new wife was not something he intended to do. However, the attraction that blossomed between these two was perfect! It was a delightful blend of the awakening of affection between them as well as confusion as to the next steps to take in their relationship. It made for a lot of good romantic tension.
Even though this is book three in the Colorado Cowgirls series, it could easily be enjoyed without having read the earlier novels.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
What to say about this newest book by Jody Hedlund? How about this: she never disappoints. And when you add in a precious, precocious little girl, it gets even better!
I really loved how Jody described Patience (and in turn, Evangeline) and her ADHD tendencies. She painted that picture so perfectly, and I could see myself in the telling (I don't think I have ADHD, but I am definitely easily distracted). It was just so realistic, and I adored how well Patience related to Evangeline. I also enjoyed seeing Evangeline interact with the ranch hands. At one point, I laughed out loud, but you'll have to read it to know where.
And Evangeline's papa? I mean, you really can't go wrong with a broody, hard working man with an accent! He and Patience are perfect together!
Well done, Jody! Yet another masterful creation!
~I was given a complimentary copy of this book. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.~
Amazing!! I loved the first two books of this series sooo much but since marriages of convenience are at the top of my troupe list this one is probably gonna be at the top like “A Cowboy for Keeps” and “Last Chance Cowboy” are! Ever since Mary Connealy’s “Trouble in Texas”, “Montana Marriages” and “Sophie’s Daughters” introduced me to Historical, Western, Christian fiction this troupe has been my favorite so I was really excited for this one in the “Colorado Cowgirls” series!! I love the swoon worthy scenes of Patience and Spencer’s many kisses but the lessons they learn along the way are well taught as well. And the Christian values hidden in the pages are lovely as well. I’m glad I can enjoy a good romance book that makes you smile and even giggle like a school girl around her first crush but keeps things behind closed doors like they should be. Things like that are sacred and I love these authors all the more for keeping it that way! Overall I will be keeping this book on the reread list forever.
I can’t get enough of Jody Hedlund’s Colorado books, cowboys or cowgirls! Convincing the Cowgirl features sizzling but sweet romance and a lovely story of family and trust. I related to Patience in many ways, and I appreciated seeing her struggles represented in historical fiction. Spencer was endearing and so swoony. Don’t miss out on this series! 4.5/5 stars
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I LOVE marriage of convenience books and this was no exception!! Also opposites attract!! Patience was fun and quirky and a scatterbrain and Spencer was serious and focused and her complete opposite. I liked how they had to face their insecurities and fears and learn to love each other despite the fears. All in all a sweet read!!
I received a complementary copy from the author, all opinions are my own.
I have really enjoyed several of Jody Hedlund's books to date, my favorites among them being The Preacher's Bride and A Cowboy for Keeps (the latter is the first in her Colorado Cowboys series and is a super well-done marriage of convenience!).
Unfortunately, however, I was disappointed by Hedlund's latest release, Convincing the Cowgirl... I think another reviewer summed it up best when she said this book needs further plot and character development and a lot less description of the characters' physical attraction to one another. In fact, I would say at least 70 if not 80% of the book was focused just on the physical attraction. I began skipping certain sections, tempted to go ahead and call it quits, but I kept reading in the hopes that things would get better. They didn't.
Patience and Spencer both battled a lot of insecurities, and I was waiting for these insecurities to come to a head and for them to talk it out. But they didn't. They rarely genuinely communicated with one another, and so I could not see how they could be suddenly "desperately" in one love with one another in a matter of a mere couple weeks.
Additionally, I might have sympathized with Spencer more if his character had been further developed, but as it was, I just found myself growing frustrated with him and the way he acted around and treated Patience. Hurt by a woman in his past, he was now fiercely jealous about Patience, and even he recognized that his jealousy was over-the-top at points. Patience, while better developed and sweet, was also not really my favorite. In the end, their relationship just seemed shallow, not founded on much more than the way they were physically attracted to each other. Unlike some of Hedlund's other works, Convincing the Cowgirl also sorely lacked a strong faith element. This is not a book I plan on rereading or recommending.
This has been my favorite book of the series! I love marriage of convenience stories and Jody Hedlund once again does a fantastic job of creating sizzling romance that stays clean but definitely adds to the romantic relationship of Patience and Spencer. I also really liked how both Patience and Spencer had to individually overcome negative thoughts and ideas about themselves in order to move on; something that they were able to accomplish together. I thought the spiritual truths were well woven into the story and I also enjoyed the element of danger and mystery sprinkled in the novel. The book easily kept my attention and I had a really hard time putting it down! I highly recommend this novel, and the entire series!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
This book was WONDERFUL!!! I've loved seeing little glimpses of Patience in the previous book and loved her artistic side. I was so excited to be able to read her story and to see more of her character and personality! She's just darling! And a little easily absorbed into a project once she gets started, which can cause her to forget about her responsibilities.
I love a good marriage of convenience story and this one delivers! Plus a little twist Patience style! ;-) Spencer Wolcott has seen Patience around town but has never met her. She's caught his eye but he's got too much to take care of to think about marriage. Namely his farm and his daughter. Except when his daughter's nursemaids don't last very long. Maybe it's time to consider marriage again.
There's a bit of a mixup with the marriage proposal and the wedding, but when all is said and done, Patience has taken her life and fate into her own hands and finds herself a wife and a mother all in one day. And she's wonderful at it! I just adored watching her with Spencer's daughter. They are so sweet together.
And let's not forget the sweet love story between Patience and Spencer. Talk about swoony and sigh worthy!!! Oh my heart! I just adored them so much. This is a perfect addition to the Colorado Cowgirls books and you're going to love the 4th book as well (yes I've already read it as well)!!!
Content: Clean. Sweet and darling book with kisses and nothing further. Some very mild innuendos between a married couple but nothing more. Some mild peril.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
When a mysterious "cousin" shows up claiming their Uncle's legacy, Patience and Felicity Courtney suddenly find themselves homeless. Patience agrees to a marriage of convenience in order to survive, marrying a local rancher in need of help with his young daughter.
My jaw was on the ground when Patience and Felicity were turned from their home in the beginning of the story. It made me so mad after everything they had been through in the previous book, but definitely a strong hook for this story!
Patience is a special soul, she brings light everywhere she goes, and is like a Mary Poppins to young Evangeline. I admired her optimism and enthusiasm, as well as her gentle heart.
Spencer is hardworking and practical. He has worked hard for his success, and is a fair employer. He is a good father, but he only has so many hours in the day and a ranch to run. Tex was one of my favorite characters, always ready to offer a helping hand he has some years wisdom on him and seems to know when he's needed and when to disappear.
Overall, this was a sweet and romantic marriage of convenience romance. I was so happy for Patience to find more than what she ever hoped for with her new family, little Evangeline is the sweetest, but also one to keep your eye on! A satisfying western romance, with plenty of great chemistry, and a darling little girl. I can't wait to read Felicity's story next!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Author Jody Hedlund adds another book to her Colorado Cowgirls series, and it has many of my favorite elements. I'm always eager to read a marriage of convenience story but this may be the most romantic one EVER! Spencer Wolcott and Patience Courtney are complete opposites but there's no denying their physical attraction. Their chemistry is powerful, to say the least, but Hedlund never crosses boundaries. She allows us to use our own imaginations to fill in the details!
An adorable four-year-old named Evangeline, a wise ranch hand named Tex, and Patience's encouraging sister Felicity are the perfect additions to a swoon-worthy tale that shows the need to trust, believe, and obey our hearts. Throw in some exciting twists with a little mystery and the results are pure magic! I absolutely loved Convincing the Cowgirl!
I voluntarily accepted a digital copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.
Patience is one of my new favorite female main characters ever. She is so relatable and I loved the way she was represented and naturally exhibited ADHD symptoms but learned to embrace them. This was such a powerful story of loving someone and their differences. The healing and growth she had was downright gorgeous and I cried during several emotional moments.
It was beautiful. And Evangeline. Man I love that little girl, she's precious.
💋Kisses focused on emotions ⚠️Spencer had a wife that cheated on him
A wonderful addition to the Colorado Cowgirls series! I loved both Patience and Spencer and enjoyed their love story, though I will admit the lack of communication between them drove me crazy at times. Still, this was a great read and highly recommended for anyone who enjoys clean romance!
Convincing the Cowgirl could have been good except there is too much emphasis on physical attraction. "I think another reviewer summed it up best when she said this book needs further plot and character development and a lot less description of the characters' physical attraction to one another." The lustful descriptions are over the top at times. For example, upon first meeting and reflecting on Felicity's eyes, "or the heavy-lidded look, one that belonged in a bedroom?" Really, upon first meeting her, we are already in the bedroom? Another example, "He bent and tasted her again, and the intimate tangle started anew with another kiss that rivaled the creation of the world itself, setting into place the moon and stars and sun (p. 291)." Really, a kiss compares to God in his glory creating the world? It's just too over the top that I don't enjoy reading these kinds of descriptions.
I feel the author is more focused on the quantity of books published than quality. I used to be a big Jody Hedlund fan but her current books don't entice me.
I love the characters and their chemistry in this series, but the plots feel so rushed. There were several moments in this one that felt like they were foreshadowing some tension/stressful event, but then nothing happened! I wish the books in this series had been developed a little more. Then they'd be perfection. 3.5/5 stars.
Oh my! If you are looking for a searing yet clean marriage of convenience, opposites attract love story, this is it! I loved reading Patience’s story. It was so hard to put down once I started reading. She’s the middle Courtney sister and often finds herself with great intensions only to get thoroughly distracted.
When a long lost cousin arrives in Fairplay, Colorado claiming to be their uncle’s heir, Patience and her sister Felicity have to find a new way to survive until they can get in touch with their recently married sister touring Europe on her honeymoon. The solution comes in the form of an unexpected marriage proposal.
Spencer Wolcott left England to become a successful rancher in Colorado. Unfortunately, with the death of his wife, there’s no one to care for his precocious little daughter. Nursemaids only last a short while before they quickly give up and leave. Despite his tragic first marriage, he’s convinced he needs to marry again. He’s encouraged to propose to one of the Courtney sisters, but Patience is out of the question because she’s much too attractive for him. In a case of misunderstanding and mistaken identity, he winds up married to Patience and soon her cheerful artistic presence breathes new life into his home. But, when a near tragedy occurs, will he choose to give in to his feelings or find another wife?
I loved the romance between the serious Spencer and the delightful Patience. In addition to opposites attract, it’s also a bit grumpy/sunshine as well. Spencer is so afraid to give his heart, yet it’s hard not to love Patience. She’s so good for both him and Evangeline. I had to laugh every time he said “Devil it!” He tried so hard to not let Patience get under his skin. Their kisses were scorching and I loved every romantic interaction.
Patience is just so sweet and innocent. My heart went out to her because she tries so hard and never feels like what she does is good enough. She probably had ADHD, which wasn’t diagnosed in the 1800’s. She’s the perfect mother for the busy Evangeline and knows just how to keep the little girl busy and engaged in a fun way. I loved the way she loved Spencer too. She’s so forgiving and wants to please him. Her expectations for marriage were so low going in and yet she felt she’d won the lottery. I loved the way Spencer finally recognizes the pearl he has in Patience.
It’s another fantastic book in the Colorado Cowgirls series! Each one I read is an instant favorite. If you enjoy clean yet passionate Western romance and an engaging story with a hint of faith and mystery, you’ll love this. Though part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone, but highly recommend reading the entire series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.
Convincing the Cowgirl Colorado Cowgirls #3 By Jody Hedlund
When an unknown cousin unexpectedly shows up, claiming the Courtney sisters' inheritance, Patience Courtney has mere hours to find a new home for both Felicity and herself. With Charity gone, Patience feels the failure of losing their home and money personally. With little time to contemplate the consequences, she accepts an offer of marriage from her neighbor, Spencer Wolcott.
In need of someone who won't desert his daughter, again, Spencer is desperate for a permanent solution. When the situation at the Courtney home becomes known, he is convinced to make one of the sisters an offer of marriage before the rest of the eligible bachelors in the area hear of their plight.
Spencer's offer was the answer to her prayers. Thinking she would never have anyone seek her out and offer for her hand, his was most unexpected. Soon, she finds her heart captured by his daughter. Evangeline needed a loving hand to keep her in check and to guide her away from the almost constant influence his hands have had on her personality.
But when a series of misunderstandings arise, the happiness that Patience thought was soon to be hers seems to be an impossible dream. A dream she never thought to have, much less lose.
Convincing the Cowgirl is the third book in the Colorado Cowgirls series which focuses mainly on the Courtney sisters. The Colorado Cowboys introduced us to Fairplay, Colorado, and the McQuaid family. This series has glimpses of the McQuaids, but they are now a background element. I find the Courtney sisters interesting as they are a product of their Quaker upbringing but also influenced by their parent's decision to leave the community behind. This is their story, a story of overcoming obstacles and difficulties, to make a place for themselves in a new place. And believe me, these sisters have more than their share of troubles.
If you are a fan of Jody Hedlund, or just like Historical Romance set in the post-Civil War era of the American West, you are in for a treat with this newest addition. So plan a weekend read around Convincing the Cowgirl and relax as Patience and Spencer decide just what they want out of life. Will it be one another? Or will they admit defeat and give up on their marriage of convenience before it has a chance of succeeding?
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.
I just love Jody’s writing. I love how sweet this book was. I just felt peaceful while listening for some reason. This book was another great addition to her cowboy series. The narrator did a great job considering she had both American cowboy accents and British ones too. I loved this marriage of convenience and single dad book! The two MC characters were opposites in a lot of ways, but they learned to make it strengthen their relationship! They both had hard stuff to learn and overcome, but I loved how it played out! Of course the romance is sweet and heart aching and amazing. I loved the relationship with Spencer’s daughter and Patience as well. She definitely had to use skills that I had to learn with my 4yo too. I of course loved the Wild West setting too.
SPOILERS and book notes: Colorado 1878 I love the opposites of these two. Patience is scatter brain and messy and creative and artsy. Spencer is orderly and schedule and neat and clean. Bahaha they are going to have to learn to live with each other. But i love how quickly Evangeline took to patience. “Kindness brings loyalty. When you are kind you don’t need to demand loyalty. It is freely given.” I love this. Patience is with out guile. She is innocent and pure and all goodness. A sweet mother too. Spencer got burned with his first wife so is so very slow to trust. He also gets jealous easy bc of that. All their interactions are just so darn adorable but at the same time swoony. Patience can’t read flirting or other people’s emotions very well so I feel like she just assumes the best out of everyone. Kind of reminds me of Martha Keys character Rebecca from A Confirmed Rake. And she is one of my favorite characters!! This book is about loving Ike Christ. Loving unconditionally. Having your child feel love regardless of their choices, accomplishments. They are loved no matter what. Aww them finally admitting their love. Him noticing how genuine and kind patience is and that she could never purposely hurt him. And then he finally tells her that he loves her not in spite of her messes but bc of them. He loves the color and life and love and fun she brings into his life. And they will create a beautiful life together.
Convincing the Cowgirl is the third book in Jody Hedlund's new Colorado Cowgirls series, and I think it might be my favourite so far!
Patience Courtney had no idea she even had a cousin...until she showed up with her husband and took over the Courtney boarding house, leaving Patience and her sister Felicity without a roof over their heads. And when wealthy neighbour Spencer comes to suggest a marriage of convenience, Patience decides marriage (and instant motherhood to the widower's young daughter) is one thing she might actually succeed at. Or at least not fail too badly. But she didn't expect Spencer to be so closed off to the idea of loving his new wife or that she would fall in love with her new family so quickly.
I don't always love marriage of convenience stories, but Hedlund does them so well. Although a few parts felt a little rushed, it made sense with the time period and how things worked then. I was hooked from the first page and couldn't read fast enough!
I know Patience and Spencer are supposed to be the main characters here, but Evangeline was my favourite character, hands down. She's a sweet spunky little girl who just wants to spend as much time as possible with her daddy...even if that means getting into trouble to do it. Patience is artsy, a little scatter-brained, and tends to find herself in unexpected situations--like saying yes to marrying a man who thought he was proposing to someone else. Spencer was definitely a harder character at the beginning but I enjoyed seeing him soften and open his heart again as the story progressed. I love that Hedlund weaves the gospel into her stories while keeping them fun and exciting with a bit of mystery, good humour, likeable characters, and swoony romance.

*As a member of the launch team, I received a complimentary copy of Convincing the Cowgirl through the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My positive review is not required.
Another wonderful installment in Jody Hedlunds Colorado Cowgirls series. I love the marriage of connivence trope and this was a completely swoony delivering in all the right ways.
When Patience and Felicity’s uncles’s daughter, that they had no idea existed, returns to claim her inheritance they find themselves homeless and with little time to decide where to go. Spencer is in need of a mother for his 4 year old daughter Evengline after exhausting several nursemaid options who have quit and left him without a caretaker for her. He has such an emotional back story that adds so much depth to his character. He has seen the Courtney sisters around town and after hearing their predicament decides to propose marriage to one of them.
Boy did this one sizzle! There was such a strong undeniable attraction between Patience and Spencer. Although they each have reasons to resist the other for a while, which gives them time to get to know each other and have an emotional connection as well. The romance was pure fireworks while still staying in the clean area and I enjoyed it so much.
I also really enjoyed the love Spencer had for his little girl and the sweet moments they shared together. I also liked how Patience came in and how quickly she became the mother that Evangeline needed. I love how genuine and pure Patience was. She had many struggles with her worth due to things she was told as a child and saw her attributes as weaknesses. Even though she would get sidetracked with projects or move from one thing to the next she enjoyed her creative side and taught Evangeline to do the same. I love how Patience learned to see this as a strength.
This was a highly enjoyable story that gave me all the happy sighs as well as some intrigue and adventure. I loved the ending. Such an amazing HEA for Spencer and Patience. I’m really looking forward to book 4.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes so I was really excited to read this book! Convincing the Cowgirl is the third book in Jody Hedlund’s Colorado Cowgirls. Patience and Spencer were just wonderful characters. They both had a lot of different things that they had to work through. I love how Parience viewed the world and how she tried her best to love Spencer and his daughter, Evangeline. Spencer was trying to care for Evangeline but he was also trying to guard his heart. He had been hurt before and he was weary to let Patience in. I liked reading about how much Patience and Spencer already cared for each other. They were cute together but they weren’t trying to fall in love. It was sweet to read about their interaction with Evangeline. I liked the progression of their romance and I really enjoyed the book. The plot was engaging and I was wondering how Patience and Spencer would figure out their feelings. I greatly enjoyed this book and I would definitely recommend it! It may be my favorite in this series. Convincing the Cowgirl is a closed door historical romance with sweet characters.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.
Convincing the Cowgirl, by Jody Hedlund, is the third book in the Colorado Cowgirls series. This book is a very special western, historical romance that is thoroughly engaging and beautifully written. From the first page to the last, captivating characters and a compelling plot come together perfectly in a story that entertains and inspires.
In this novel, Ms. Hedlund displays her genuine talent for writing novels that are rich in descriptive detail, integral settings, complex characterization, and riveting storylines. Scenes filled with danger are balanced by scenes of hope, and the story is strengthened by enduring themes of courage, resiliency, forgiveness, trust, and second chances. The characters in this story are authentic and vulnerable as they endeavor to heal from past traumas and understandable insecurities. Their struggle to realize their dreams and goals is quite moving and memorable. Page after page, there are plenty of surprises and unexpected moments that are truly thrilling and delightfully endearing, making this novel a genuine pleasure to read.
With a writing talent that seems effortless, Ms. Hedlund has once again crafted a story that is worthwhile, meaningful, and engrossing. Abounding with history, romance, adventure, and heart, Convincing the Cowgirl offers an unforgettable reading experience, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. I am certainly ready to read the next book in this series!
