A Pug's Guide to Etiquette

Rate this book
This manual is an essential item for any pug aspiring to be a sophisticated, civilized citizen. Pugs play by their own set of rules. When you want them to sit, they stand; when you want them to stay, they go; and when you want them to stop eating that unidentified item on the floor, well...Traditional schools of canine thought put this behaviour down to a stubborn refusal to be trained that's inherent in the bred. Not so. This behaviour is, in fact, down to an ancient set of rules, passed down from pug generation to pug generation. A Pug's Guide to Etiquette attempts to explain these rules, thereby advancing pug-human relations to hitherto unprecedented heights.

Maybe 4 1/2*
Lovely little book. Started to like (and maybe love) pugs after Ema visited me last summer, more after stalking for months one of her four-legged friends through the city, even more after watching Lady Dynamite feat. Maria Bamford and Bert (!) and Blueberry, and yes, GEMma Correll on Instagram. Sometimes the universe just conspires on you doing something!
Highly recommended. :)

One Christmas Eve my mother-in-law hosted a family party in in the main classroom of her very posh dance school. She graciously allowed us to bring our pug, Muggle, with us because we were having some repairs done in our house and didn’t want to leave him there with the workmen. Once the party was in full swing, Muggle strolled into the centre of the room and proceeded to take the biggest, fattest dump EVER right in the middle of her newly polished wooden floor, then proudly strutted away. The children present were absolutely delighted, with the giant turd however I was mortified and have since banished Muggle to the house no matter what’s happening at home.

According to A Pug’s Guide to Etiquette, pooing on the floor during a party is appropriate behaviour for a respectable pug. I had no idea. Also pug points covered in this book are cushion bull-dozing, the wearing of stupid outfits and the infamous ‘pug run’ that Muggle practices daily. Honestly, I thought my pug was just a buffoon but now I know that he’s definitely not. He is the epitome of gentility. Thank you for setting me straight, Gemma.

I somehow wrongly assumed that this will be an actual etiquette guide for hoomans, just told in a funny way through pug's point of view.
It turns out it's an actual etiquette guide for pugs. Despite the fact that I'm not target auditory at all, being a human, a cat person and a big dog person, it's a light and funny read for pugs, pug owners and pug lovers.

A tiny book gifted to me ages ago by my wife’s family, back when I was obsessed with pugs. It’s very short, filled with hilarious illustrations and tongue-in-cheek etiquette tips from a pug’s perspective. I wanted to give it ★ or ★★ because of how brief and silly it is—but I laughed too much to be that harsh. Good for a few solid laughs. ★★★

An entertaining, light-hearted book for any and all dog lovers, the etiquette displayed in this book I know can most definetly be applied to Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (of which I own 2)

This was a cute book and fun little read. Also, sharing my home with a pug, I can say that much of what is presented in this book is absolutely true.

Brilliant and adorable, this book is a great manual for dog owners and dog lovers alike. Gemma Correll's style is so lovely - and, if you get a chance to see the real-life Mr. Pickles, jarringly accurate - and her writing is sweet and funny. I refer to this book on a regular basis for advice, or cheering up on a glum day.

Una boniquez de principio a fin, y más todavía habiendo tenido una carlinilla que hacía más de la mitad de las cosas que ilustra Gemma Correll <3 Si tienes un carlino o te gusta esa raza, tienes que leerlo.

Anyone who loves pugs needs to read this book! I recognize so many of the “etiquette rules” my pugs follow—leaving pug glitter generously, insisting on prompt meal times, refusing to deign to play fetch! The text is a riot and so are Gemma Correll’s wonderful drawings. If I had any complaint it might be that the book is short. I’d love more of the hilarity.

This was a very cute little comic about pug/dog mannerisms. I enjoyed the humor and adorable art style. What a fun and goofy little 'etiquette' guide book! This will definitely speak to dog lovers.

Was disappointed that this book is completely reused in the little pocket book of pug wisdom. I recommend that book over this one as then you get a whole second book for the same amount
