Max Out Mindset For Softball: A Guide For Coaches, Athletes, Teams and Parents To Help You Be In The Best Position To Max Out When It Matters The Most

Rate this book
I have worked with nearly 100 high-performing teams and dozens of athletes at all levels around the country. I have never had more clarity about what it takes to be in the best position to max out when it matters the most. Teams and athletes tell me that the sport of softball is anywhere from 30% to 70% mental under normal situations. They also acknowledge that most softball players don’t train their minds nearly enough. But what if your team goal is to win a state championship, and your team is trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, there are two outs with bases loaded, and you’re at the plate? How much of that next at-bat is mental now? Most athletes say it is 90-95% mental in those moments.

My goal for you is to get your mind and body in sync and execute what you’ve trained to do. I fully believe we can train mentally for the biggest moments, just like we do for any physical skill. I always say, “If you can’t do it when it matters, what’s the point?” The best teams I’ve been around have learned to accept their roles, build deeper relationships, and grow from adversity. They learn to handle pressure and turn it into a privilege.

In this guide for coaches, athletes, parents, and teams, I invite you to come along with me on this journey so you can do your very best to get to my definition of Max given the talent and experience of the athletes and coaches, as well as the depth, health, and intangibles, can an individual or team reach the limits of their capabilities? And then, can they do it under pressure when it matters the most?

Read this with our competitive softball team and dissected it chapter by chapter with the workbook through the season. It gave the girls so many resources for the mental side of the game. It became more team focused when we had lows throughout the season and contributed to our highs. Really enjoyed it.
