Rate this book
Amy Sheridan left her special ops unit after a blown mission, swearing she'd never kill again. But when Joshua Colby's life is endangered, she realizes the man means more to her than keeping her vow. She knows her usually controlled heartbeat is running rampant because of him--not fear. Once a sniper, always a sniper.

From experience, Joshua knows he'll have no chance at love as long as he remains in the dangerous world of special ops. But once he discovers the tempting woman he's been assigned to protect from a traitor is already part of his world, he's more than ready to follow his heart. Now all he has to do is convince the woman who has him in her crosshairs to give love a chance.

I rolled through Sniper Shots like a woman rolls through chocolate. Luxury and abandon come to mind with Ms. Lane's stories. They're rich in characters, scenery and just enough hutzba that you connect to them. Sniper Shots ads heat and sharp wit to the flavor, tension that bites and a wonderful dog named Bores. I love Bores. He's the best third character I've read in a long time.

Well crafted, tightly woven, tension and action that drives the plot of the story. Amazing, realistic characters. I loved Sniper Shots. I look forward to more and more from this fabulous author. Guess who's going on my favorite author list? And Christmas? Shopping is done. Yum.

Sniper Shots is listed as book 1 in the Love in the Crosshairs series, but there is a prequel, Sniper Fire, that is Kyle and Farrah's story. I believe that I would recommend reading the first book as both Kyle (who was on Joshua SO team) and Farrah play a large part in this book.

Amy Sheridan has left her special ops team after she did the unthinkable and fell hard for one of her team mates who turns out to be a traitor. She moves to Clear Springs, NC to recover and decide if she still wants to be a sniper for her special ops team. She meets Kyle and his wife Farrah and their children, and eventually starts to recuperate. But when the three Wassiles brothers start harassing her, Joshua steps in to rescue her. But when Adrik Velavich returns to hunt Amy down, she needs assistance to bring him to justice and Joshua steps up to the plate to protect her.

Joshua Colby (AKA The Harrier) is on leave from his team and comes home to Clear Springs just in time to see Chet Wassiles harassing Amy. His specialty is being a sniper but he also has some awesome skills as an Archer. He uses his bow and quiver to warn Chet to leave her alone but even he can't keep Amy safe from Adrik.

Kathy Lane is a new author for me and having read Sniper Shots, I'll be reading the first book to piece together how Kyle and Farrah came together as well as Joshua being the primo sniper for his team of special ops men. I'd rate the book a high 4.4 stars.

Well done from the first page to the last – great story – kept me reading without taking a break!

Clear Springs, NC is a small town in the hills that sounds lovely. Amy Sheridan has come to live there and regroup after psychological fallout from a military situation she has experienced. Joshua Colby, a native of Clear Springs, meets Amy shortly after he arrives for what he thinks might be a bit of R&R. Their meeting was intense and a whole lot more than either of them bargained for as it reveals one set of bad guys. Joshua is tasked by his superior office to keep Amy safe so in comes his wonderful spec ops team members to assist…and boy do the males mentioned make me want to know more about each and every one of them. The thing is Amy is not the shrinking violet that Joshua originally assumed she was and as the story unfolds the strength and depth of her character and how it interacts with his alpha personality and abilities becomes a terrific story that I could not put down until I finished the book.

The Raven and the Hawk…who are they? What do they mean or will they mean to one another? You will have to read the book to find out and if you do, I am sure you will enjoy it. I surely did.

Thank you to NetGalley and Backlit PR for the copy of this book to read and review.

I loved (loved, loved, LOVED) this book!! Amy and Joshua were strong, smart and honest (as much as they could be in the situation) and I loved how realistic Amy was about her strengths and limitations (and not stupidly jumping into situations that endangered everyone) and how accepting and respectful Joshua was as to who, and what she was. With woman now officially able to fight in combat if they meet the stringent physical & mental requirements, I hope most men will be as accepting & respectful as him.

And it was wonderful to read a romance where the couple didn't spend the whole story denying their connection or dealing with stupid misunderstandings. While they weren't happy with their attraction (and the reason for this is understandable) they were at least honest about it. The sex scenes were also INCREDIBLY steamy and Amy gave as good as she got (I like it that they were able to make each other lose control).

This book got 5 stars from me - and that's incredibly rare. Kathy Lane is now on my 'Must Read' list and I just wish this wasn't her first book in the series so I could immediately dive into the next one!

I loved this book and I think I've found a new favourite author to add to my collection. As with Sniper Fire (book 2, but it should really be read first) the writing and editing was fantastic.

As for the characters - it was great to catch up with the Nighthawks again as well as Kyle and Farrah and a few of the town locals, but this book was all about Amy and Joshua.

Ahh. Amy and Joshua. Two strong, highly trained, intelligent people who's chemistry was off the charts (the diner scene was hot hot hot). They both knew their strengths and weaknesses and how to work together, and they also trusted each other when it was most needed.

The action was well paced and kept moving with lots of little twists and turns.

I can't wait for more of this series and they will be an auto buy for me (please please please tell me there will be more).
