Hunt's Casefiles are inter-connected Short Reads which tell an ongoing story. In some ways, they are more like a serial. You will enjoy all of Hunt cases much more if you first read Case #1, The Case of the Missing Peke
Huntingdon Hart just wants to enjoy socialising in his local, The Bird in Nest, in the delightful village of Upper Shrewsbury, with an afternoon at the races now and then. But people needing help won't leave him alone! In this latest case, will he find that he has bitten off more than he can chew? Confrontation with his dreaded enemy, the Stingbat, may not be the worst of Hunt's problems

I love reading fun cozy mysteries about quirky characters as well as more thoughtful books - and visiting a travelogue of exciting faraway places - every place mentioned in any of my stories is somewhere I've lived, or visited often and know well.
I write the kind of books I like to read. If you've seen the books I've reviewed here, then you'll know that's a pretty eclectic collection!!
Like Màiri I love eating pizza and ice-cream and drinking cappuccino with friends - or even drinking cappuccino alone at Barnes and Noble (my accompanying friends are between the pages of the books I'm reading there)
Good character build. Interesting plots. Was able to read first 4 books quickly. Can't wait to see if Hunt can actually solve this riddle of a case. Love Diamonds and Monty.
This is another great episode in the ongoing series about Hunt Hart and his exploits. He’s such a fun character even through serious challenges. I love the series and highly recommend it.
Nothing special about this one either. I've read way better books. Glad it's over for now. Not too much about the ducks either. Made me want to take a nap🤷♀️🤣❤️
Thanks to Kate for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion. These short books about Huntingdon Hart usually hold a story as well as linking to the overall tale about a betting and racing scam. This one differs in that it links to the overall tale but introduces more thought-provoking events that could lead to a much bigger case. In the meantime character development continues apace as we read more about the mysterious Stingbat. Hunt shows us his romantic side, wishing to hold Sophia's hand as they eat breakfast; he is a smooth operator, likening himself to James Bond! (The big difference is that James Bond surrounds himself with women young enough to be his granddaughters whereas Hunt, thankfully, prefers the mature woman). I love the ending scenes, and can't wait to find out more about the 'Big case' and read how Hunt appeases Sophia, bring it on!
The Case of the Dazzling Duck: Huntingdon Hart Investigates: Casefiles of an Occasional Detective (Huntingdon Hart Investigates: The Casebook of an Occasional Detective 4), my eleventh enjoyable short (24-page) read from author Kate Darroch that I finished in under half an hour. As I’ve now read eleven of this author’s books and enjoyed then all I’m on a mission to read all twelve of her books I already own and see where I go from there. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author with Thanksgiving in Welcombe Bay: Their Second Chance for Lasting Love (Sweets By The Sea, Second Chance Romance Book 1) high on my TBR list. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018.
I thought I was going to read a whole book, but it was more or less a chapter. If I had known the back story, I would have enjoyed the experience, but starting in the middle of a story without knowing what happened before is not as much fun. The chapter is well written. A bit of mystery, fun and heartbreak. If there is a book with the whole story, I would love to read it.
