Jerome M. Beatty Jr. (December 9, 1916 — July 31, 2002) was a 20th-century American author of children's literature. He was also an accomplished feature writer for magazines. Beatty served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of corporal, and is buried at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.

This is one of those books you pick up as a kid and enjoy the heck out of it.

Then years pass. You find a copy at the used book store. You buy it and put it on your shelf, and then years later you take it off the shelf and read it.

And you remember enjoying the heck out of it as a kid.

Oh, the pun names. Maybe I knew they were supposed to be kinda funny back then. But now I read them. Fun.
