Enrick longs to be like the moon--unbound of rules and carefree but a violent past has left this werewolf cold & cruel. He makes a vow: He will never to take a permanent submissive mate to please his dark dominant nature.
Submissive Kai is unwilling to let Enrick, a male who cares for nothing and no one, slip from his future. In a twist of fate, an opportunity presents itself. Willing to sacrifice his own pack, Kai seduces his way into an eternity of unbound pleasure.
Together, they embark on an emotional journey that will leave the deepest, most passionate scars any testament of love can.
JC Wells grew up in southern California with two loving parents who constantly used the phrase: "If we spend 1 minute in your head, we will be admitted into a mental institution! How does your mind work?!" Using the talents she gained from years of schooling, she has grown into a writer that spans across different genres. Recently, JC has been accepted for a Masters Program in Creative Writing, where she will be expanding her talents even further. Aside from the student side of her, she is an advocat for LGBTQ rights and an obsessor of the paranormal community. JC spends time away from the computer in haunted houses, hanging out with gay best friends and fighting for their rights, as wells as researching all kinds of paranormal stories. And if that weren't enough, she loves to be under the creative talents of a tattoo needle, using body art as personal story she wants to tell. "I want to write something that touches people. If they can put my story down and have a moment of 'oooooh' then I have done what I set out to do." Her dreams span across the globe. She dreams of becoming a famous published author, as well as a highly sought out publishing agent. JC hopes that you'll take a chance on the stories she has to offer. JC also writes paranormal romance books as Jacqueline Croft on Amazon, her Domina Noctis series available.
I have the same complaints with this one as I did with the first one. Too short. But the difference is that with Rayce, I feel like it stopped just as it was beginning. With Enrick, I felt like I was coming in at the end.
BDSM isn't really my thing, but I overlooked that for the overall story and I liked it. Though not as much as the first. I would've like to read more background on Kai and wanted Enrick went to Kai's pack instead. I wouldn't be able to give up my life so be a permanent sub to someone who didn't want to be Dom to only me and have me lying in wait for when he wanted me. Even in a BDSM relationship, I think there should be respect on both sides and I want a mutual love between both characters and I didn't feel both. But if that's what Kai wanted, so be it. I like kink as much as the next person, but I'll admit I'm not well-versed in BDSM culture.
I hope with Petar and Sorth, we see more of a balance with regards to their mates. The Matik brothers are all dominant, but it'd be interesting to see these two have mates that won't take their machismo lying down.
Enrick is the second book in the Matik Masters series by JC Wells. While all the brothers are alpha males, Enrick takes it a step further and is an actual Dominant. He prefers whips and chains with his subs than any actual relationship. Love for him doesn’t exist and hasn’t in a very long time thanks to a very traumatic event that turned him into the wolf he is today. When a neighboring pack shows up and requests help finding their future pack leader, Enrick knows just where to look. He has taken the wolf, Kai, under his body several times yet had sent him away after his strict “four time only” rule. Kai has a different plan. Willing to give up everything, including his pack, to be with Enrick he can do nothing but be the submissive that Enrick needs and hold out some hope for a future as more than just a sex slave to the powerful Matik Master.
This book was all about Enrick and Kai so don’t expect the other brothers or the pack to play a big part at all. We learned a little about Petar and now I have to say I’m even more intrigued about his characters, but I guess I’ll have to wait. I was expecting a turnaround in Enrick like we saw with Rayce and his mate La’el, but that didn’t happen. Enrick flat out says he isn’t going to mate Kai, ever. I certainly wouldn’t call this a HEA, but with two more books to go in the series I am going to hold out hope for these two.
Again, this is a very short book coming in at only 58 pages, but those pages are cram packed without feeling rushed. Wells’ ability to stretch this story and build such deep characters in a short amount of pages is simply amazing. I’m completely enthralled with this series and only wish the other two books were out NOW!
Once again, J.C. Wells has written a fantastic short novella. This is a continuance of the first Book Kayce, but can be read as a stand-alone. Being that these novella’s are so short I would highly recommend reading the first book for a richer understanding.
Enrick is brother to Rayce and as his brother, he is also an Alpha male. Enrick is also a Dom who refuses to make a commitment to just one Submissive.
Kai is the latest male sub, which Enrick has released from serving him. But, Kai refused to take no for an answer and goes about tricking and seducing Enrick, show him how much Enrick needs him.
Enrick was much darker but just as sexy as his brother as we watch him struggle with his desire for the sweet Kai. The BDMS scenes between these two were intense.
While Kai does leave his clan to be with Enrick, in this story, we don’t really get a HEA, but we do get a HFN as there are many questions left unanswered. I hope that some will be address in the next novella.
I try not to write reviews before reading the next book in a series, but I’m writing this after I’ve read all four books, so bear this in mind. This book was my least favorite of the series, though I do feel there is potential for a good story. You really have to enjoy BDSM to like this series, because we don’t get much character interaction; we’re introduced to the men, given a bit of back story and then we jump into sex. Of the 40 pages, approximately 35 were about the sex itself, so not really much in the way of romance. One thing I did like about this book, and about volumes 3 and 4 as well is that we get a little glimpse of HEA from the characters in previous books. I liked reading that the couple from the first book have found happiness and sexy times together, and the rest of the books build on that. Ok book, not great, but not bad either, it’s an even three stars.
I loved this book, but felt there were questions unanswered, so now I eagerly await the next installment of The Matik Masters. The heat and scenes created left me wanting and breathless one hot romp!
