[Siren Ménage Erotic Cowboy Ménage a Trois Romance, M/F/M, HEA]
Sally Brooks is feeling somber about her life as those around her find love. She wants to have a boyfriend or two, wants someone to hold her, make her feel loved and protected. The two men she finds irresistibly attractive are ex-military brothers Mason and Steven Marcus. But they avoid her even when she makes an effort to flirt. Fed up and overwhelmed, Sally accepts a date with Garret Walters. He's a good-looking cowboy with money and attitude. Accepting his date turns into a horrible experience.
Garret and his friend Keiffer had plans to abduct Sally. It takes this incident, and the fact that Garret still wants to pursue Sally, to get Mason and Steven to open up about their feelings for her. Steven and Mason are double trouble in Sally's eyes, and they ignored her this entire time, so why should she give them a chance now when she feels like nothing more than a damsel in distress?
There is no sexual relationship or touching for titillation between or among siblings.
People seem to be more interested in my name than where I get my ideas for my stories from. So I might as well share the story behind my name with all my readers.
My momma was born and raised in New Orleans. At the age of twenty, she met and fell in love with an Irishman named Patrick Riley Dwyer. Needless to say, the family was a bit taken aback by this as they hoped she would marry a family friend. It was a modern day arranged marriage kind of thing and my momma downright refused.
Being that my momma’s families were descendents of the original English speaking southerners, they wanted the family blood line to stay pure. They were wealthy and my father’s family was poor.
Despite attempts by my grandpapa to make Patrick leave and destroy the love between them, my parents married. They recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
I am one of six children born to Patrick and Lynn Dwyer. I am a combination of both Irish and a true southern belle. With a name like Dixie Lynn Dwyer it’s no wonder why people are curious about my name.
Just as my parents had a love story of their own, I grew up intrigued by the lifestyles of others. My imagination as well as my need to stray from the straight and narrow made me into the woman I am today.
Let me say that I usually like Dixie's work but this is not one of her best. I can feel the deadline she was working under. This was a pay-the-bills book. Which is ok if you are not looking for anything else and need a quick read. She's capable of much better so please don't use this book as your only look at her work.
My thoughts:
Our female lead should have been named Mary Sue instead of Sally. Compare the defining characteristics and you decide. 1) A character who is based, at least partly, on the author (Half check) 2) A character whom has no significant flaws (except possibly ones the other characters find cute) (check) 3) A character to whom everyone within the story reacts as if they were beautiful and wonderful except characters who are clearly evil and/or motivated by jealousy. (Check ) 4) A character with whom, during the course of the story, every available character of the opposite (and occasionally the same) sex will fall in love given any contact whatsoever. (check) 5) A character who undergoes no significant growth, change or development throughout the story. ( Half check.
The suspension of disbelief only took hold for me when the characters where with the dogs -- who, sad to say, where the most realistic part of the story. I had zero attraction to the heroes but would love to have one of their dogs. ;)
I could go on but seriously only read this one if you are invested in the series. I picked this one out of order and read it first. I might have found the background characters less annoying otherwise.
Again, I return to Delite, Texas, this time to tell a little about Sally Brooks and the Mason Brothers.
Sally Brooks has had enough of being alone. She wants what her sister and her friends have, men that love them and partners in life. She feels lonely and if the Mason brothers don't want nothing to do with her, well, she has to move on and find somebody that will keep her heart happy. When she decides to take the matters on her own hands, she chooses Garret Walters to go out on a date. But looks can be deceitful and danger comes in many forms.
Mason and Steven are ex-marines and they hard as it gets. When they set their eyes on Sally they know they are in trouble. But do they have the will to give her all that she needs? And if they don't take the step forward, will they loose her forever ...
This was another story that I read in a speed of light. I know that I love this Alpha cuties and that I'm a sucker for a love story, but I realized that of all the books that I've read in this series, this was the one that I could relate to and why? Because every woman feels lonely at a certain point in her life if she is single and Sally was no different. This character is very well layed out, making the reader understand why she takes a chance and why it's not her fault to go out with the wrong guy, as I said before looks can be deceitful. I enjoyed seeing her overcome her fears and for those who read her sisters story understood that it was a big step for her to be-friend all of the dogs.
Now, again, the Marcus brothers are hot. They're hands are very naughty and they fill up the pages with goodies that reader's like me don't miss. Even though they are made of steel, I enjoyed the change that they went through and the softening of their hearts towards Sally.
Garret Walters personifies the perfect weirdo, a messed up mind and a cruel soul.
Overall I enjoyed the book but I would love for the story to be longer. M. Dwyer will you make it a little longer next time, thank you.
As I have mentioned in previous review on books of this series, there isn’t anything different. Heroine: abusive past, hiding in a new town, meets two men and is stubborn for a while before giving in to attraction and then the trouble of her past finds her and its up to her men to find and save her. That aside, I still liked this book and will finish this series. I just wish that there were a little shake up in the storylines and at least a few differences in storylines. That aside, I will happily admit that this book – Double Trouble, is my FAVOURITE of the series so far. I love both stubborn hero’s, I like Sally but my favourite part of the story? The dog scene! I LOVED the relationship Sally formed with Rottweiler Toby and the other dogs. It was so cute! I loved that Sally overcame her fear of dogs thanks to Mason and Steven. The one thing that disappointed me was that when Sally was injured and pushed down the ravine, she was left with some of the exact same injuries as one of the previous heroines in this series (having to have to have her spleen removed). I would happily read a novella with Sally, Mason and Steven in it.
Jealous about her younger sister finding two adoring men, Sally accepts a date with someone that she knows isn’t the one from her. The date soon turns to disaster when her date and his mate beat her up and try to rape her. After being saved by a passer by and reporting it to the police, Sally thinks that’s the end of it. what she doesn’t expect is for her attackers to make her life a living hell and try to hurt her again and again. When her friends life’s are threatened, Sally finally gives in to her attraction to ex military men, Steven and Mason, accepting their offer of hiding out at their cabin in the woods. Once she gets there, she gets the shock of her life when she comes face to face with five big Rottweiler’s. What Sally doesn’t realise yet is, those dogs she’s come to love despite her past fear, are going to be the ones that find her when her attackers, Garret and Kieffer kidnap her.
Double Trouble. Sally is one of the gals from Dixie Chix, and she and her sister, Alexa have survived abuse and pain at the hands of family. Now, there is new trouble. She accepts a date with Garrett, bad mistake. He planned to kidnap her and share her with his friend Keiffer. Mason and Steven want Sally but each has been afraid to try loving her. Steven has been hurt badly by a woman. Mason is just hardened and worries he's not good enough for her. Once she is saved from the attempted rape and the beating, Mason and Steven step up and protect her. They talk, plan, tell each other their fears and problems and begin their healing. The men are thrilled to be her first, and she feels awed that they want her. Super hot sex, an interesting story, action, some violence, and deep thought filled characters make these terrific stories worthwhile. Twists and turns finally have her being safe at Mason and Steven's cabin with their five dogs. They didn't know her uncles hunted her and he sister, and let their dogs attack and bite her, so there is some fear to let go and lots of learning needs to happen. Time with the men and trained military/healing dogs helps her overcome that problem. Three weeks at the cabin and they head back to town. Garrett's not finished with her, and rams her car, takes her again, and the dogs track her. A grand rescue, and she's healing. Highly recommend this exciting tale. ENJOY !!!
Another great story in the series. Although they are getting kinda pattern.
Sally was just an ok character for me, I tried to like her but her self doubt was a bit annoying. Likewise Mason and Steven were angsty. I could have done with more assertiveness all around.
For military and ex military they certainly fall for some typical bad guy tricks. That is one thing that bugs me across the board with this series.
The steamy wasn't until about halfway through the book and them it was quite often. Seems once these girls give up the v card they just can't get enough!
Only two books left in the series, wonder what else could go wrong for the Dixie Chix!
These stories are way too short and DAMN these girls have the worst luck. They are always getting in trouble and having to be rescued by hunkaliscious guys intent on sharing them in a menage relationship. Jeeze, are there any other kind of relationships in this town. lol But, I guess that's why I like these books.
These books just get better and better with each one. This one isn't favorite. Sally is such a fighter and I love how she handles her fears with the dogs. I love Toby. I can't wait for the next one. This is a series that I will be reading over and over.
I do enjoy theses books but they all are very familiar. I loved rotties been in book. I love dogs. Would like a different story from the other that have come so far but I do like them so can't complain much.
I really really enjoyed this one.. Out of all the books Sally and Alexa's books were the best .. I can't wait for another installment **hopefully it will be longer **
I'm so happy when I discovered this series. The stories of each lady in Delite are really different. I like the way the author portraits the characters. I will recommend this series ...
