This short piece - a companion to SEWERVILLE: A SOUTHERN GANGSTER NOVEL - sets up the smalltown world of Sewardville, KY in true smalltown fashion, with some funny/sad anecdotes that shed light on how the town came to be known hither and yon as Sewerville.
This is good writing, and I am now moving on to the Sewerville book; I have to say that I am looking forward to it. This author's writing is very professional and spot on.
I recommend reading short story before reading the first novel in Saylor's Sewerville series. Provides some good background and an intro to characters.
