Blake Karrington

Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.

Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.

Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.

In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.

Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.

The audio was fun but I think I would've enjoyed it more if I read it by myself. I looooove the characters though, they're badass and they know it.

Country Girls by Blake Karrington

This is my second book reading from Blake Karrington. Country Girls is a good book but it is short story. The main character is Prada and Niya.

Like:
I like the concept and vibe in this book. It's well written and well character. This book is always on the point and it will not allow me to put book down.

Recommended:
Blake Karrington did a good job. Country Girls is a good book. It's dealing with sex, drugs, robbery, murder and violence. Blake Karrington takes his time to writing this book.

Rating:
I choose 12.4 stars rating because it's really good and I enjoyed reading this books. Both author and book deserved 12.4 stars but Amazon and goodreads only allow 5 stars rating.

Next:
I'm looking forward to read another book from this author. I'm looking forward to read part 2 of Country Girls.

Apparently becoming a street king pin is the easiest thing ever to do. It’s so much that didn’t get explained very well in here but i don’t really care enough to go further to see if the answers come in later books.

To short not enough

To short not enough

I loved the storyline and I'm seeing that many urban writers are doing these "short books" to get the reader attention but it's getting annoying . just wrote the entire book and charge your 3.99 or 4.99 if it's good, the word will get out and you can make your coins. now for the book itself it started off good then got slow then picked up, it seemed a bit rushed but again I think that was just so the author could come to a stopping point and give a follow-up book. overall the storyline was good I can't take that away, but I need for you authors to stop it with the clif-hangers and the to be continued.... it's understandable that it's only .99 cent but can we get a completed short story that's finished? that would give us a glimpse of your writing style.

First let me say this is a really short story. I think that I would have rated it higher if it was longer because as soon as the book got started good and you began to see the personality of the characters developing , it ended. Yep, it ended, so although I fully understand why he had to cut the book off. I think that it could have been longer short story. We really, really didn't get any background to the ladies just sex and manipulation. There wasn't a clear why they were doing what they were doing... However the book was interesting, I enjoyed the story, just felt it was cut off abruptly!

Whew, that MHB family is not to be taken lightly. This read wasn't for the faint of heart given the bestiality scene and guest appearance of "Mr. Syphilis".

So I haven’t read urban fiction in a while but this was actually a good read. I originally didn’t like Nia at all but I grew to love her. I discovered this author on clubhouse & decided to give him a try and I wasn’t disappointed at all honestly. There were a few things that didn’t quite add up to me such as Chad being so oblivious to who MHB was (I understand not knowing who they grew to be but he should be hip to them in some capacity) I also wish I would’ve got the story on how the whole Chad, Nia & Gwen thing came about...maybe it’ll come up later in the series. I did enjoy reading about women dominating the game though! Lol I do wish that it wasn’t so obviously written by a man. They descriptions of the females were very detailed while the male descriptions fell a little flat for me. If you like urban fiction, I would definitely give Blake Karrington a try!

Country girls? I couldn't tell that they were country girls. They was just straight up Gangsta girls. MHB some of the toughest women thugs out there. Niyah is the leader of Money Hungry Bitches, she held her crew down from wherever she was. She put her family first. Everything she did is for her family. Her family includes MHB.
This was a good read. MHB went from being just a small group of friends who were like family to a revolution. If you want to read some gangsta shit about women this is the book for you. I am so ready for Country Girls 2.

Short w/too many characters

Becoming a fan of Carrington. Love his books and how he brings the characters to life. Stories pull me in and I can visualize what I’m reading. This one was rushed and crowded! There were so many characters introduced in such a short time. It was difficult keeping up with who was who.

Loved it!

I never care for sex in books so we can charge that to the game and not the author. But the plot... The action... Heckz yeah! It was original and it wasn't wack like 90 percent of these urban books. It was even funny too!

Oh wee! I loved reading about Niya and those country girls just as much as I enjoyed reading about Q aka Big Country and his country boys. There's nothing country about these money hungry chicks! They are out for theirs, and don't plan on letting anyone or anything get in their way. This book popped from start to finish. This was a short story, but was nothing short of a 5 star, page turner. Blake grabed his readers from the start and even after reading the last page, I still didn't want to let go. January 20th won't get here fast enough. I am ready to see will Prada and Niya make it through or will that be the end of the MHBs.

This book started out with a whole lot if Drama with a capital D!! Niya, Prada, Diamond and Gwen are part of a organization called Money Hustling B.....(MHB). They rob from the drug dealers to get what they want.

I liked the book, the author painted a very well picture of the women she wrote about the only problem was I found that it could have been edited a little better. Other than that it was a Great read I will love to read more from this author.

WHAT THE!!!! Was this book 30 pages or something?? As soon as I figured out all the characters.... Well I may still be confused on a few.... The got dang book ended! What a friggin disappointment. The last chapter was the best chapter. If I would've know this was a SUPER duper blink your eyes short story I probably would not have purchased it. Oh well for what it's worth it's not bad read for a short story.

My only complaint about this book was it was just too damn short! When I began seeing the advertisements for this book I didn't know it was a short story! It was only 7 chapters! But honey let me tell you... The author wasted no time getting to the nitty gritty! The ending was crazy and leaves you ready... Thirsting for the next installment in the series!

I really didn't like these chicks because they were doing too much from the jump. Then with all the characters and trying to follow along with who was who and what was going on I was quickly trapped into the story. I can't lie, I have to find out what happens next. With that said. Good job on this one.

Wow I couldn't put it down

There was nothing country about young girls trying to live in a man's world. Beauty and designer clothes ain't everything to living. I know grown pass men take advantage of little girls and then throw them away like trash. But you have to be ready to pay the price in the end

I would recommend this book

I think it was a good book and enjoyed it from beginning to the end. I just wanted it to be a little longer because soon as it started to get to the good part it ended. I would recommend this book to friends and family, and I can't wait to read the 2nd book to this series.

Niya is a bad girl. Prada died too soon. The MHB crew is focused on taking over the drug game in Charlotte and the consequences are all too real. Gwen made her bed hard and paid a terrible price. Alexus is a young buck with potential. It was an intense read. I will look for another book from this author.
